((Welcome everybody! If the staff member sent to retrieve your character is an NPC, go ahead and just control them to get you to the school (so thats Zatara, Wildcat, and Martian Manhunter). I won't be picky about staying IC since I'm forcing this upon you ;P Glad to have you all here!!))
The day had finally come. The day which would begin the course of change for nine students' lives - and hopefully many more after that - educating and training them in the ways of being a superhero, molding them into the heroes that would be fit to replace the current members of the Justice League when that day came along.
Superman had done all he could to ensure the safety of this island. Only the faculty knew of its true location, and it was cloaked in magical mists to prevent it's discovery, much like Wonder Woman's home, Themyscira. The only way they were allowing students access to and from the island was via boom tube. Boom tubes that should be transporting them any minute now.
Superman waited alone, standing in the Tube, the academy's boom tube complex, with connections all over the world. Aquaman was apparently M.I.A., but the other staff members had been sent out to bring the students here.
Batman had been sent to Gotham, to bring back his son, Damian. From what Clark knew of the boy, he was talented and well-trained, that was for sure. It was more of an attitude adjustment that he would need - he was violent and conceited.
Hawkman had been sent to pick up Nightwing from Blüdhaven. Clark was very impressed by what he had seen of Dick so far - he seemed to be level-headed, experienced and dependable. He may even be a candidate for the leader of the JLA one day.
Zatara was to bring his daughter Zatanna, obviously. The girl had potential, that was for sure - but Clark was concerned how she would fare in the midst of these more experienced students. He was sure she would do fine, but she had a lot to learn.
The Flash had been sent for Impulse. Bart particularly concerned Clark - not just the pairing of his naivety, courage, and super speed - but his constant reckless endangerment of himself, which often led to catastrophe. Clark had almost placed the boy into the Rogue dorm...he still wasn't completely against the idea.
Barry was also going to pick up his nephew, Wally. Kid Flash was another young man with a lot of potential, with a good head on his shoulders. It seemed he sometimes needed to take things a little more seriously, but he showed promise.
He was sure Red Tornado could handle bringing in Ambush Bug. Irwin was a...special case. His was going to take a lot of work and to be honest, Clark was fairly certain he would be better off in Arkham Asylum than at this school. He would definitely be watched closely, to make sure he didn't harm himself or anyone else.
Wonder Woman would bring in Raven. Another special case...Raven seemed like a smart girl, but her problems were mostly with control. She was strong - stronger than she knew. And the threat of her father was not something Clark liked to think about when he was trying to fall asleep at night. He only hoped Trigon wouldn't be able to find her here.
Wildcat had been sent to show Green Arrow the way. Oliver was dedicated and talented, that was for sure. His skills with a bow were unmatched. But what he needed to learn was teamwork. He seemed unable to function when he was relying on someone else, and he would need to learn that trust here.
And he had sent Martian Manhunter to retrieve Supergirl because...Clark was...busy. Planning. Getting ready. Of course. J'onn would handle her well. Clark would have plenty of time to get to know her at the school. She would need a lot of work as well - she was powerful, but she needed to learn discipline. She needed to learn to plan, instead of just rushing head first into everything, and her ego could use a bit of a beat down.
Superman's thoughts were interrupted by Green Lantern entering the big room. "Verdant's all ready for the party, chief!" he exclaimed, coming over to stand next to Clark. "I had some unexpected difficulties with the cotton candy machine, but it should be all good now."
"Great! Thank you, Hal," Clark replied, smiling at the other man. The plan for today was fairly simple - once all the students arrived and were welcomed by the faculty, they would be given a tour (first to the dorms so they could drop off all of their things). After the tour, there would be a party at Verdant, just for the students. It would have music, a buffet, and various games and activities for them to do - hopefully to get to know each other better. And the next morning, they would start bright and early and begin their "pretests" - the staff was interested in seeing what all the students could do.
But for now, they waited.
Ding, dong...
Bart had opened the door before the doorbell had even finished ringing. "GRANPA BARRY!!!" The boy shouted, leaping into the arms of the blonde man at the door, enveloping him in a giant hug. The man laughed, catching him and holding him tight, their matching rings glinting in the southern sun.
"Hey, Bart! What's up? Are you ready to go?" Barry asked, and Bart leapt out of his arms as fast as he had leapt into them. He bolted from the porch and reappeared with two duffel bags, setting them down on the porch.
"Am I!" The young speedster exclaimed. "I'm so excited to meet all the other kids! Zatanna's gonna be there, right? We're practically BFF's!! I was sad 'bout leaving Carol and Preston behind, but I told 'em I would come back and visit all the time! And I better, cause Preston's borrowin' my handheld right now and my new Blastomatic game, and if he breaks that thing he's gonna owe me big time! Wait, didja say that Supergirl is gonna be there, too? I get to train with Supergirl!? And and I finally get to meet Green Lantern!? GRIFE I'm so excited let's go where do we go!?" Bart was jumping around in his excitement, and Max came up behind him and smacked him lightly on the back of the head.
"What did I say about future swearwords?!" The speed-force guru exclaimed, putting his hands on his hips. Bart gave a dramatic groan and rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, whatever, bye Max!" Bart said dismissively, not looking back at the man as he grabbed his bags and sauntered off the porch. "Don't pretend you'll miss me, cuz I know ya won't!" Barry and Max shared a look, and then Max sped over to the kid and got him in a choke-hold, and gave him a noogie.
"You're a little punk, you know that?"
"AgH! Get off me, old man!" Bart shouted, trying to hold back his laughter. Max let him go, and scuffed his ear.
"Don't be too stupid," he reasoned, heading back to the house.
"Can't promise anythin'! Come ON granpa!"
Barry laughed nervously. "I told you not to call me that..." He mumbled. "See you around, Max!" He turned around to wave.
Bart did too, waving back. "Bye, Max! Bye, Helen!" He turned back to his grandfather. "Okay...Barry, where we goin'? You said we gotta take a secret tunnel or somethin'?"
"A boom tube. But first we have to pick up Wally."
"Wally's invited!?" Bart asked, his face brightening. "COOL!" And just like that the two took off, appearing on the Wests' front porch in Blue Valley a few seconds later, with Bart excitedly pressing the doorbell a...lot of times until Barry grabbed the kid's hand and pressed it to his side.
