Ghost Rider

Description:Strong build with broad shoulders; 6'4; around two hundred twenty pounds. He has green eyes from his mother and father's recessive genes, but they turn red when turning into the Rider. His hair is a dirty blonde that hangs down slightly past his neck. He keeps himself either clean shaven or with just a couple days of stubble, max.



Powers

Ghost Rider:

• Awaken the Rider: Joe's human side is lain dormant as Zarathos takes over the body. His flesh burns and melts from his face and body, his clothes transform into a spiked and thorned black leather jacket with demonic skull pauldrons of a chrome looking metal. His head becomes a disembodied perpetually burning blackened skull with monstrous fangs and blazes of flame for eyes.
  
• Enhanced durability: Once the Rider is summoned, he holds the durability and endurance that a spirit of vengeance should have. Escaping or defeating the natural force of Hell isn't going to be easy.
  
• Enhanced strength: Taking down lost denizens of Hell or defeating the forces of evil isn't an easy task. The Rider is given sufficient strength to combat the strongest of forces.
  
• Immunity to fire: Kinda obvious, huh?
  
• Infernal chains: The chain that Joe carries becomes infernal, able to be infused with Hellfire and capable of pulling in or ensnaring his prey. He is also capable of summoning other chains from the Abyss, controlling them like appendages to maim, harm, ensnare, or pierce his enemies.
  
• Infernal Touch: To accomplish his goals, Ghost Rider is able to 'demonize' any form of weapon or tool to use for his intended purpose. The most known is allowing his weapons to fire Hellfire instead of projectile rounds, but there have been other uses (see Spirit of Vengeance crane scene: the one good thing during that movie)
  
• Hellfire: One of the most known abilities, Ghost Rider can summon forth the dreaded Hellfire; able to call it from around him or even fire it from his eyes, mouth, or fists.
  
• Penance Stare: The most dreaded. If Ghost Rider can gain direct contact with his prey, he can invoke the Penance Stare: an ability which causes the victim to experience all the torment and suffering he or she has caused others. The more innocent blood that has been spilled, the worse the Stare gets. This ability can torment or kill. It is limited, however, to direct line of sight. 
  

As Jonas:

• Expert telepathic combat: While not knowing this is a mutation, Jonas is able to read the thoughts and intentions of others, often sensing their next move and anticipating it before it happens. Other times he is able to suggest false ideas into the heads of his opponents, having them perform their actions to his own timing which can shake their confidence.
  
• Gun nut: Card carrying member of the NRA for five years...or he would be if he wasn't trying to stay off the radar.
  
• Brawler: Having been in fights for most of his life, Joe knows how to handle himself better than most. He's above average in fighting, preferring ground and pound or hard strike fighting styles to Jeet-kun do or Kung Fu.
  
• Focused Telekinetic impact: Unknown to him, Joe shows some level of control over telekinesis...but it's mild. This usually appears only when he's angry as an amplification to the force of his strikes.
  
• Note: Though Emma Frost had a secondary mutation to transmutate her flesh into a diamond hard substance, at this time Joe has shown no sign of doing so.
  

As of now, Joe cannot utilize both sets of abilities...nor can the Rider. It is one or the other.

Strengths

• Indomitable will and conviction to achieving his goal. Only when Zarathos is in control can he do anything he doesn't want to do.
  
• Hellfire infused chains can attack demonic or spiritual foes
  
• Strong against mental attacks
  
• His time traveling and becoming new people makes him a good every man who is adept at reading others
  
• Resourceful and adaptable in the most strenuous situations. His time living on his own and keeping to himself has made him very self reliant.
  

Weaknesses

• The Rider cannot be mentally controlled; however the man can.
  
• He holds some durability and endurance more than the average human due to his time getting into fights, but he can't stand against the Hulk stomping him into the ground without the Rider.
  
• As he doesn't know he's a mutant, his abilities in telepathy are limited
  
• Lone wolf: doesn't get along in teams or asking others for help.
  
• With Zarathos in control, his thirst for vengeance as the Rider makes him reckless; often sacrificing other goals for the service of vengeance.
  
• Paranoid about this 'other force' that seems to follow him. As such, he doesn't make friends, and often keeps closed to others.
  

Bio:

In a gambit to take down the X-men, the Hellfire Club had enacted a pact with the Demon Lord Belasco to take hold of the mutant Magik in exchange for utilizing her to draw forth his demon army and slay the X-men with her body. At the time Dr. Strange was called away to deal with an issue regarding Dormammu, but that left one caveat: Ghost Rider. Knowing they could not control the Spirit of Vengeance, they could distract him long enough to give Belasco time to carry out his portion of the plan.


Thus, Bogan sent Emma to be assaulted by a group of paid murderers to attract the Rider's attention. She was badly beaten as part of the plan to make her seem helpless and in imminent danger. Sure enough, the Rider appeared, saving her and slaying the murderers. Playing Beauty to the Beast, Emma was able to coax the Rider away, revealing Johnny beneath. From there the matter was simple: she seduced him...not because she had to, but because she had once found him a bit of a crush in his stuntman days...but more importantly to assure her own control over such a being of power...to take or deny whatever she wanted. The next morning she wiped the memory of the night from Blaze's memory; never to know the name Selena Williams ever again. It was Emma's last mission as Club member; as the organization had disintegrated too far down into power plays, and Emma realized she herself could be better suited alone.


But something happened then that Emma had not intended: she became pregnant. Even more surprising, she found she could not bring herself to abort the pregnancy. As if one last vestige of humanity to the old Emma remained, she kept the baby and used her powers to hide his presence from them all. Shortly after she began her own academy to rival Xavier's, gathering together the Hellions to go against the X-men. It wasn't long though, that her chance at actually having a life would be extinguished. The time jumper, Fitzroy, would appear and massacre her students. It was then that Emma realized Jonas would not be safe with her. Implanting her memories within the young boy, she gave him up for adoption....then wiped her own memory of everything relating to him.


Jonas grew up in West Boston, the son of Harold and Penelope Landon. He had an older brother named Chad, who watched out for him because he got into fights...a lot. His younger years were not that bad though, actually having something of a family life, but that changed when a strange man with a cop shield came to talk to the family on his tenth birthday. He didn't know what the conversation was, but it was bad enough that his father told them they might have to stay over at his sister's down in Florida for awhile.


The next week, Chad was gunned down by gang activity. He was eighteen.


As promised, his mother and father moved him down to his sisters. His Uncle Oscar was not a nice man; often using his nephew as target practice when he got drunk...which was often. His wife tried to stick up for him every now and then, but she paid her fair share. This continued for six months.



That's when the dream took him for the first time.

When he awoke the next morning, he was outside of Tallahassee about a hour's distance from the house. He arrived to find police scurrying all over his uncle's house, his aunt in a catatonic state. It was then after answering some questions he found his Uncle Oscar in what was left of the living room: turned into a statue of crisp ashes that smelled of foul brimstone. His Aunt Laura said nothing, but stared at him with an expression of fear...and...gratitude?? Having had enough of this, Jonas finally decided to find a way back to Boston; returning after taking all he could find back at the house and heading north to Boston once again. However, fate would be cruel here, too, as his parents had apparently suffered a bad gas leak and died from monoxide poisoning about a week back. All that he was able to gather was his brother's old Harley Chopper and a golden ring with a diamond snowflake inlaid across the top...something that his mom Penelope had said belonged to his real mother.


Two days later, the dream returned...and now seven gang members and three suspected corrupt cops were found dead. Seeing a correlation, Jonas hopped aboard his brother's bike and took off West. For almost seven years he traveled from place to place; living off the land or expenses from previous towns, joining in with the criminal element to make ends meet (nothing death related...just ambitious thievery or booking. ), even attending school...but always, without fail...as soon as he had the next dream, he packed up and left that town.


Now in his mid twenties, Jonas makes his living as an auto tech in San Besitos working on a bachelor's in criminology, all the while having picked up clues or hints as to who he might be and what these dreams mean. Through a strong set of contacts, he has narrowed it down to two names: Moonstar; whom Jonas believes can explain these dreams....and the person who knows of her location or how to reach her: Darkholme.


Status Update post Exitium Excursion: After the battle with Exitium, Jonas lost control of his body to the returned Zarathos. After trying to kill himself at the horror of what he had done to so many, the Rider took control of Jonas and rode off into the distance. No one knows where he is now, but a slough of murders from crooked cops, gang members, murderers, and worse have popped up all over the nation. The papers have taken to calling the killer 'the Cremator,' as the victims are left as piles or statues of ash or charred flesh.


Other:

• During his travels, Jonas came upon a wounded young huskie that was near death. Taking a chance, he took the dog to a vet and patched her up. She followed after, tracking him down after he left her there. He called her Banshee, since she was right at Death's door and had survived. And yes, the dog does turn into a hellhound when around Jonas as the Rider.
  
• He rides Chad's chopper with a side car for Reaper to travel when he moves from place to place.
  
• Aside from the ring and the chopper, he holds onto and wears his brother's custom dogtags that he created when he first decided to go into the military.
  

He has a tattoo of a red jagged scythe blade across his left scapula. On the blade is the name Naomi. Nothing else. On his right arm near the shoulder is the burn scar of what appears to be part of a detective's badge; only the 5 and 8 are visible, but it is a Pittsburgh precinct.
