{JKthegreat and Lexie} Dear Soldier

I had spent most of the flight thinking about how I was going to react when we met. What I was going to do. She decided it for me as soon as we saw each other. I locked eyes with her a little ways down the one area of the airport, and she ran to me as I dropped my bags and hugged me tightly. I wrapped my arms around her waist and hugged her back, actually picking her off the ground for a moment from the excitement.. "Hi" I said quietly in her ear without breaking the hug.

It wasn't long before I finally managed to pull back and look him over. "You look spiffy. I don't like it," I said with a frown before pulling him back into a hug. "Where to?" I asked quietly, not wanting to move out of his arms just get.

"Thought I'd dress up a little." I said, smiling as she pulled me back into a hug and I kept my arms around her waist "Next time I'll remember to wear my underpants and a ripped shirt. But, as for where to, I need to actually find a place to stay, my folks don't have the room at the moment, so do you know any good hotels nearby? Haven't been back for a long time." I kept my arms firmly around her as long as I spoke.

I thought for a moment for a solution before coming up with the perfect place. "Come on I know," I said as I pulled away and waited for him to grab his bags before pulling on his arm out of the airport. I walked over to a black corvette before getting in the driver's seat and popping the trunk. "Best hand-me-down I ever got," I said proudly.

She dragged me through the airport a little faster than my legs could carry me with bags on my back, but we eventually got to her car, which was an awesome looking black corvette. "Awesome car" I said, putting my bags in the boot and climbing into the passenger seat "So where we off to? Where is this magical, perfect place you speak of?" I smiled over at her as I shut the car door.

I glanced over at him with a smile before raising an eyebrow and pulling out of the parking lot. I smiled widely as I sped off down the road. It wasn't long before I pulled into the parking lot of the apartment complet I lived in. "This hotel is completely charge free," I said simy as I got out. I knew I was taking a huge step but I didn't care right then. I was acting on impulse. I helped him with his bags and headed up toy apartment, unlocking the door and heading inside.

When I realized that she was taking me to stay at her apartment, I almost didn't know what to say. "Are you sure about this, Ashton?" I asked, as she stepped out the car, helped me take out my bags and led me up to her apartment "I really don't want to, you know, impose or anything. Plus, I could be a serial killer with an ingenious master plan that led right to this point... Or, the not imposing thing still works." I grinned and winked at her as we got to her door

I turned around suddenly and rolled my eyes. "Then that's my lesson to learn," I said with a small smile. I walked inside and picked Luna up with a laugh. "Hey baby..." I whispered softly as I kissed her head. I walked down the hall to a spare room and opened the door for Conner. "Your suite," I said with a smile as I moved out the way for him. "Like I said, charge free," I added with a smile.

I smiled and stepped into the apartment, taking in my surroundings. "Wow...thank you" I said smiling as I walked into the spare room, dropped my bags off the bed and walked back over to her, looking her in the eyes again "Seriously, thank you so much. I'll try not get in the way, and obviously I'll try help out in anyway I can." I smiled again, but I kept my serious gaze locked with hers.

I stood in the doorway as I watched him and crossed my arms. "If I thought you were going to get in the way then I wouldn't let you stay here and don't worry about helping out," I said with a smile as I looked up at him. I smiled as I closed the space and hugged him before pulling away and smiling softly. "I work tomorrow from 5 to noon," I said, deciding to let him know about my schedule.

I hugged her back as she pulled me into one, and then said "Wow you work pretty early. Good to know." I looked around the apartment, the piano I had seen so many times, Luna who seemed to already like me a lot and the girl who I never thought I would ever meet in person. "Pretty amazing day, I must say" I said, turning my attention back to Ashton "But its only twelve. We got any plans for today?" I cocked an eyebrow and shot her a mischievous smile.

I glanced at him and laughed lightly as I raised an eyebrow at his smile. "I'm free for whatever you wanna do," I said with an equally mischievous smile towards him. "Completely up to you," I added as I crossed my arms over my chest, trying not to seem as short as I was.

"Well my mom is out of town for a while. She was very upset that she went on her trip to Paris two days before I got the news, but she says she can't come home until the end of her payed time in the hotel, which ends in three weeks." I said, taking a few steps closer to her as I spoke "So, I'm sorry to inform you that I'm all yours until then. Snd I would love to choose what we should do, but I have no idea what there is to do around here. So its all...up...to...you." I split the last words up to accompany each step I took towards her until I was only a few inches away, just teasing her a bit.

I raised my eyebrow as I watched him, knowing I had to be blushing bright pink. "All mine...I think I could get used to that," I said with a slight laugh as I turned to walk away. "Get changed. We're going to eat," she said with a smile as turned and walked away. She made sure she had everything before walking into the living room and sitting down without another word.

"Get changed!" I exclaimed, chuckling a little bit as I did and throwing my arms up "I'm in a suit and tie, for gods sakes. What do you want from me woman?" I laughed some more as I walked into the spare room and opened up my suitcase. I didn't really feel like unpacking my entire bag, so I just slipped on my black jeans and an Arsenal FC Home shirt that I wore a lot and walked back out into the living room. "There" I said, smiling and offering her my hand to escort her out "This is how I look 99.99% of the time. That better?"

I laughed lightly as I rolled my eyes playfully and waited. I glanced over when he walked out and nodded happily. "Yes. Now you might just fit in," I said as I took his hand as walked out. I got in my car and waited for him before pulling out of the parking lot and to the local diner I worked at. "This is where I work," I said as I got out and smiled as I pulled him inside, instantly being greeted by mug of the staff. I found a booth and slid in as I sat back with a small laugh. "Good thing about coming here is the discount."

I slid into the booth opposite her and looked around. It seemed like a very homey, natural diner that probably had a lot of 'regulars' that came in often for their breakfast or something. Everyone in the diner was polite and kind, just how I remembered most of my childhood in California. "This place actually reminds me of a place my dad used to take me almost every second day" I said, concentrating back on Ashton with a smile "Really homey and laid back. They made the absolute best cheesecake ever."

"Im sure we can beat that," I said simply just as I heard my name. I looked over to see Sam, my boss up on the stage with a knowing smile on his face. "Ashton, darling, you should come up here and fill in for someone that dropped out," he said with a smirk as he looked around for confirmation, a few regulars instantly cheering. "Oh...I don't know Sam...I'm talking to someone and I'm not on the clock," I said a bit nervously. "Besides, I don't have my stuff," I added with a smile. "We've got you covered," he said, pulling out a guitar.

"Go, go" I said, smiling widely as I tried to usher her up to the stage "I've really wanted to hear you perform for a long time now. It'd be awesome if it could be in person. Do it for the people. And me." I tried to give an encouraging smile as I gestured towards the stage.

I hesitated as I glanced around a bit nervously. "Do I get paid?" I asked with crossed arms. Sam silently nodded and smiled as I walked up with a small shrug. "Okay then..." I said softly as I took the guitar and played a simple note to make sure it was in tune. I sat on the stool and adjusted the microphone before hesitating only a moment before finally beginning to play a song I had written.

I watched and listened intently to Ashton as she began to play a song that I didn't recognize. She was absolutely incredible, and her voice was unbelievably perfect on every note. Wow I thought to myself as she continued to play She looks so happy when shes playing. And shes so incredibly good at it. It seemed that a lot of the people here were used to having this amazing music playing while they ate and yet most of them still stopped their meals to watch her play.

I smiled ever so slightly as I slowly finished the song. Laughing lightly, I leaned back and set the guitar down before hopping off the stage. "Just add it to my check," I told Sam before heading back to the table and sitting down. "Sorry about that..."

"Wow" I said, watching her walk the whole time from the stage to our booth "You were...absolutely incredible. I've never heard someone with such a pure voice. Did you write that yourself? It was a a really beautiful song." I leaned forward excitedly against the table, locking my eyes with hers and still tapping my foot to the rhythm of her song.

I found myself blushing bright red as I looked down at the menu though I already knew what I wanted. "Yea...I wrote it about a month ago," I said softly as I looked up at him with a smile just as a coworker came up and asked what we wanted. "Grilled cheese on Texas toast and some tomato soup. You know how I like it..and some apple juice. When were almost done some cheesecake...New York style," I said with a smile before looking over at Conner. "What do you want?"

I looked down at the menu in front of me that was filled with different types of actual food that I really wasn't used to. I especially wasn't used to being the one getting served or being able to actually choose what I ate. I wasn't gonna hold back. "I guess I'll have whatever the biggest burger on your menu is and a strawberry milkshake, also as big as you can go." I smiled to the person that had taken our order, and then looked back at Ashton, knowing what she might be thinking. "When you have had Sandy's Soup Surprise every single lunch for the past year" I joked "You would also want to have as much real food as possible when it is available. P.S, the surprise is rat tail."
