the target.

personality.

Cassian is the picture of privilege. A life full of luxury, indulgence and accommodation has sharpened the fangs of his narcissism. He’s prideful, cocky and is not shy in displaying those qualities to others. He is at most times facetious, treating the subject of his inheritance of the Kingdom with a disinterested flippance. His disregard for the weight the crown will carry and less than royal habits has left him estranged from his family. Most gatherings between them are accompanied by a thick layer of tension.

Cassian is heavily indulgent. He’s not used to being denied his desires, having grown used to having anything he asked delivered to him on a silver platter. It’s hard to capture his attention because of this, and even when caught, his continued interest is a slippery, elusive thing that others often find slipping through their fingers. Rumors have spread of the prince’s indulgent habits, earning him the whispered title of Prince of Vice. When his needs are fully met, however, Cassian adopts a more laid back demeanor. Very few manage to grow close to this Prince of Vice. His self-destructive nature is a barrier that others toe with caution, unwilling to catch damage in the crossfire.

virtues.

Innovative

as a child, he was often praised for his creative solutions that deviated from the typical responses seen in other students. Although in current times, this innovation doesn't show itself as often.

Daring

cassian does not hesitate in his endeavors. Although caution should be had, considering the power he holds, he always is the first to dive into a new experience.

Charismatic

his narcissism makes him hard to like, if it were not for the addicting charisma that oozes from his person. Cassian knows the effect his looks and status have on others, and is not shy in using it to his advantage whenever possible. He can warm even the coldest and cynical of people if given enough time.

Curious

although his curiosity lies in less than respectable topics, Cassian is heavily guided by his curiosity for experiencing new and exciting things.

straightforward

sometimes a virtue, but oftentimes a vice, Cassian tells others exactly what he feels. He does not sugar coat his opinions, and never has.

the vices

Indulgent

he's consistently indulging in whatever fleeting pleasure he can get his hands on, often times at extreme excess. he's very wasteful with money, food and clothing.

Insensitive

he cares little for how his words or actions impact another. He'll say what is on his mind, and if one gets offended, Cassian will brush it off as sensitivity.

Narcissistic

cassian is the crown prince, he is fully aware of his importance and status in Vinyamar, and is not shy reminding others of it as well

Impatient

hates waiting a long time to receive what he has requested, often becomes angry when made to wait longer than he thinks is respectable considering his title

Apathetic

cares very little for the misfortune of others

likes.

parties, unrestricted fun, expensive jewelry and clothes, night time, hard liquors, indulgence, high end food, sweets, coffee, good red wine, bold individuals

dislikes.

early mornings, cloudy/rainy days, formal events, his father, sharing, early mornings, restraint/ self discipline, timidness, soft spoken individuals, indecisiveness, being deceived

origins.

First born child of Joran and Qinrel, Cassian’s reputation preceded his birth. The Airendil family has ancestors that stretch far back into Vinyamar’s history. They are said to have been the founders of the great Kingdom, settling along the shores of Okoris and elevating the elves from a nomadic species to one of strength and success. His childhood was an easy one, the duties of his father a glowing example of the shoes Cassian was meant to fill.

Only several months apart in age, Cassian was raised alongside his father’s closest friend and also first born son, Finlas. The son of Military General Lanthir, Finlas had a looming shadow descended upon the path he was meant to walk. The two soon grew inseparable. They attended private tutoring and training to mold them into the perfect replicas of their fathers, and in time, childhood innocence gave way to teenage rebellion.

early years.

With adolescence in full swing, the teeth of Cassian’s indulgence began to sink into his flesh. Leaving the more diligent Finlas to cover and deceive the necessary authorities, Cassian would stalk out about the red light district of Okoris, drinking himself stupid and experiencing the pleasures the night would bring. Upon his best friend’s pleas, Cassian whittled down his night time vices to only an occasional indulgence, his focus primarily on upkeeping the lofty image of Vinyamar’s royal heir.

Finlas, meanwhile, was left chasing the elusive approval of his father. A hardened man too focused on the next victory, very little Finlas achieved was enough for General Lanthir. Long nights in the castle’s library lead Finlas down the path that would ultimately be Cassian’s undoing. The myth of an ancient jewel from Isolde, full of power and promise, revealed itself to him. Finlas became a man possessed, unable to stave off the growing curiosity for finding the location of the jewel. He believed possession of such a feat would lead to the power he needed to finally surpass his father in victory, and with Cassian’s help, reshape the Kingdom into a more benevolent, welcoming society. With Cassian’s father’s permission, Finlas set out with a small team to look for the lost jewel. Tied to his duties to the crown and considering the jewel an ancient myth, Cassian stayed behind. Finlas kept in consistent contact with Cassian during his travels, however after several years--the letters stopped.

present day.

Decades passed with no contact from his best friend. Eventually, the effect of Finlas’ dedication faded in its influence. Cassian began indulging in anything that would aid in the distraction of his pain from losing such an integral piece of his life, chasing fleeting pleasures freely. What little concern remaining for his inheritance was cast aside. Without Finlas by his side, Cassian failed to see an importance in the weight of the crown.

He now spends his days waking up far into the afternoon, lazing about in vast amounts of luxury and riches. At night, he parties often and extensively, his regular visits to the red light district earning him the title of Prince of Vice. Cassian doesn’t see his family, save for his sister Zinyra, often. Only coming together for formal events, there is palpable tension held in regards to the crown prince.

the pirate.

the personality.

Whether she was born on the sea or not, Nadia Damaris was raised on crashing waves, stormy nights, and salty air. Raised like most of her kind, Nadia experienced many hardships at sea which hardened her spirit and formed her personality. Despite the rocky waters Nadia grew up on, she is consistent and stable. As Captain of a ship, she exudes authority and leadership.

She is a powerful woman with little tolerance for those that wish to interfere with the livelihood of any of her crew. There are many rumors that have circulated well populated port cities about the cruel Isoldeian Captain; Some believe she’s not actually human, but a she-demon sent from the pits of the sea to terrorize those living in Vinyamar. They say she sharpened her teeth to better kill her victims and that the Sunhowler is decorated the bones of her fallen foe.

In reality, Nadia is many things, but the legends formed around her name are only children's tales, meant to frighten those that wish to interact with the woman. Truthfully so, not many know Nadia. She is cold, quiet, and resilient in nature. She is a fighter at heart and will do anything to defend those she cares for. Nadia is loyal to a fault.

When she does speak, she is very blunt. It is not difficult to tell if she has a distaste for a person– It is clear as daylight. She does care, however, and while she may show it in atypical ways, her crew knows just how much she adores them. Even if it comes in the form of an eye roll and a begrudging smile.

the virtues.

Resilient

Raised by stranger until they became her family, Mary prided herself on making all of her crew and her family as resilient as possible. Instilling in them that it is only their persistence and survival that will allow them to endure the cruelties of this world. This was most ingrained in Nadia Damaris, when she was found alone in the forgotten lands of their people.

Determined

As Captain and leader of the Sun Howler, Nadia must have her eyes focused on a goal. That... And having witnessed what happened to her parents, her determination for all things is strong. She is determined to keep her crew safe. She is determined to fight back against Vinyamar. And she is determined to reclaim her peoples former glory-- At whatever cost.

Passionate

Quiet and stoic most of the time, Nadia's love of her crew, her desperation and determination to return Isolde to its glory all combine to light her on fire. Be it fighting, loving, losing, or dying, Nadia will be passionate about it. Her heart is most always 100% into what she does.

Fearless

Going into battle with nothing more than a dagger and a plan is something she isn't afraid to do. She's seen the horribleness of the world, she's witnessed death at her doorsteps, and perils most people could never face in their lifetime. Fear, to her, is only a trap crafted to make people weak. Nadia will not succumb to it. Ever.

the vices

Stubborn

Though passion and dedication is often a postive trait, it is her stubbornness and unwilling to compromise or give up on anything that gets her in trouble from time to time. If she puts her mind at it, she should be able to accomplish it. Losing arguments? As if, Nadia will die on a hill before she lets someone win a verbal battle with her. This goes for everything in her life. It's a double edged sword.

Fiesty

Though it is her job to stay cool and collected, at times... Sharp words and snappy retorts get the best of Nadia. She is sarcastic to a fault, her words can come off as cold, insensitive or cruel when she isn't pleased with something. She will always defend those around her and things she cares for; Even if it isn't necessarily the correct thing to do in the line of command.

Close-Minded

Nadia, like much of the crew of the Sun Howler, hate Vinyamar. The grief from even hundreds of years ago still runs through them, fresh and painful, and their hate runs just as stronger as their parents and their ancestors. She is convinced she has never met, and will never meet, a Vinyamarian that is good. They are cruel, evil, creatures with no hearts, no souls, and no capacity for mercy. So why would she have mercy on them?

Impatient

When you live on the rough sea, decisions must be quick and efficient to avoid death or being capsized. Even on land, this tendency reflects in her decision making and action. If something isn't happening at the speed she would like it to, she often steps in and does it herself, even if her crew wouldn't advice it.

Tempermental

Anger is an emotion Nadia has been battling her whole life to keep at bay. But, admittedly, her fuse has become shorter and shorter the more she's experienced in this world. While her patience is much more for some of her crew, whose to tell her she must be kind and understanding in the face of her foes? Much like one of Katia's ticking time bombs, Nadia could be moments away from blowing her fuse. It's best not to light it in the first place.

likes.

sunrise. lavender fields. a warm, dry bed. clear skies. rainy days on land. warm meals. dancing. calm seas. mountains. snow. a nice fire. the smell of cherry trees.

dislikes.

thunderstorms. impertinence. vinyamar. individuals with no discipline. snakes. ocean storms. the riptide. injuries. ekko.

origins.

Nadia was too young to remember her parents name when they were taken from her. Too young to remember their names, but old enough to have the image of her burning home seared into her mind. Young enough to remember the faces of soldiers from Vinyamar shouting things, tearing through her home, and destroying the only family she'd ever known. It was a mix of luck and fate that lead her far, far from her mountain home atop the icy peaks of Kos Virar in Isolde. Her little feet carried her down the mountain, through forests, and to the only town remaining in the once powerful and rich Kingdom. Lead to Nebrouk, a small port city with only a few living inhabitants that often experienced raids by Vinyamar to keep them dispersed and displaced, it was there Mary, Captain of the Sun Howler, rescued her from her tragedy and brought her aboard a ship.

It was there she began making memories with her new family. Mary taught her to use a sword, she taught her the art of dance, and how the best fighter could also pull off a damned good waltz. She learned to read maps, the ins and out of a ship. She shadowed every single position on the ship, all before she was ten years old. Nadia took it to memory, dedicating every inch of the ship to her memory. If she could have, she would have memorized the sea. Once a blackened heart, charred by the fires of Vinyamar, was slowly opening up.

adolescence

Nadia quickly became Mary's second in command when she came to age. Competent, driven, and vastly intelligent, Nadia new a ship she'd been on for just a handful of years better than men and women that practically were born on the sea. Then again, Nadia often preferred to think of herself as a child of the sea, rather than an orphan. Her parents were nothing more than ghosts in her mind, with fading faces, voices, and memories. The only thing that remained of her life on land was three books her parents sent her away with and told her to keep safe. It was aboard the Sun Howler that Nadia began reading these books.

She kept them secret from those she'd grown close to, knowing they were of great importance. They were texts, the history of Isolde, the true history, passed down from generation to generation in her family telling the truth behind the decimation of her people. Telling the legend of a great artifact, a relic of sorts, that gave the Kingdom of Isolde great prosperity. A jewel thought to be able to restore Isolde to its former greatness. Though she stayed hesitant in sharing it with the crew, she soon found herself compelled to reveal the truths in the book to those aboard the Sun Howler. They were a former great people, ravished and destroyed by a greedy and jealous Vinyamar. Suppressed and treated lesser then by a Kingdom built on lies and dead bodies.

From that moment forth, Nadia knew it was her job to eventually take the helm of the Sun Howler and lead her people, and the former peoples of Isolde, scattered across the world, back to their moment in the sun. Her day came sooner than she expected, when Mary fell ill. Curse or a sickness of the sea, Nadia was forced to take over for months while Mary was nursed back to health, held in the balance between life and death. When she recovered, Mary passed the torch and the title of Captain to Nadia, bestowing the young girl with the Sun Howler and its responsibilities.

present day.

Nadia has been planning for months a way into Vinyamar. She's been convinced and obsessed that they know something about the jewel she seeks to find. Her books tell her it is Vinyamar and the royal family that stole it away and took it from her people, and as far as she knows, this is true. Her targets are set on the Airendil family, with a vengeance and a desire to force their hand in revealing the location. Thanks to Aquilia, there were several texts containing information on the royal family acquired by the Sun Howler that Nadia has been studying for at least a year or two.

Her sights are set on kidnapping the heir to the throne. Whether through by ransom or word of the mouth, she will get the location of the jewel of her people. She fears nothing; not death, not prison, not anything. She is a woman with a goal, and she will stop at nothing to get it.
