Back from the dead, maybe
Howdy, howdy! I'm Jazz and I haven't posted an interest check in several years here, but I'm thirsting for a text-based RP and I want to meet new people! I'm probably gonna turn this into my interest check masterpost, but I have a lot of things I'd be interested to RP, so if you're curious or anything here catches your attention, drop a comment or shoot me a PM and we can talk I'll try to update this post regularly with what I'm most interested in, but for the most part, anything I don't specifically denote as not okay can be considered as fair game.
Now, let's proceed to the boring but necessary parts!
TheBoring Necessary Parts
The fun part!
Okay okay okay, I'll admit I love coming up with plot ideas, and I'll randomly generate more lol but for the time being, I'll try to split them into medieval, modern fantasy, sci-fi, etc., and I'll throw in some pairing ideas for funsies. All of these ideas can be elaborated on for ideas that I have, or you can let me know your own ideas and interpretations!
Also, if you want to work any of these into time periods different from what I had intended, I can work with that. I put them where they would fit easier.
Pre-Existing Characters This is mostly just to give an idea of what kind of OCs I create. Alternatively, I'll give them each some plot ideas around them, so if you get attached to any of these kids, you're free to request I use them! Some of the art is a bit dated, so excuse the quality.
I could only be arsed to add three to start with, but I'll probably add more with time. Maybe.
Now, let's proceed to the boring but necessary parts!
The
- Please don't godmod my characters. If you have any preferences for my characters, please state them before the RP starts and I can say if I'm willing to work with that or not. I create fully-fledged original characters, so I will not break their character for anything. I also will not prescribe any of my preferences unto your characters. It's more interesting if we go with the flow and let our characters feel each other out instead of forcing them to act a certain way.
- Please don't have romance be the main endgoal. If our characters don't have chemistry together, I'm not going to force it, and if you try to force it, I'll most likely lose interest. This goes doubly so if I'm using a pre-existing OC. If I'm creating an OC, we can try to work out how to improve their compatibility before we start, but again, I'm not changing my character once the RP starts.
- I shouldn't have to say this, but if I indicate that a character has a certain sexuality or is of a certain age group, please don't throw them with someone that deviates from that. I won't put up with age gaps unless both characters are consenting adults when they meet and I'm not going to change a character's sexuality.
- I have characters with mental health issues. A lot of them. I'm not going to reveal my characters' full diagnosis in their bios, so if mental health topics make you uncomfortable, I'm not your gal. I have, however, done a lot of research on mental health topics, and I'm okay with you or your OCs not knowing about mental illnesses and responding accordingly, provided you, as the roleplayer, are not disrespectful about it.
- You are not your characters. If your characters are assholes, that's fine. But I'm seasoned enough to know when you have an OC who's an asshole and when you're an asshole hiding behind a character being fictional. So don't be afraid to give your characters flaws or prejudices, provided they're not the entire "point" of the RP.
- I am an adult. I don't feel comfortable RPing romance with minors and if we're only using 2 characters, I also don't feel comfortable RPing romance between minors. I would need to have there be multiple ships for me to be okay with romance between minors.
- I tend to use character references I personally draw! But if you prefer to use face claims or base them off of public characters, that's fine. I won't tolerate art theft, though, so if you claim someone else's OCs as your own, that's a problem. I'd much rather you use no reference than to steal one.
- If nothing denoted before scared you off, I will also say that I have no preference to PMs vs threads vs Discord! I'm in the RPN Discord, so feel free to find me there and add me if you want to talk or something
- My name is Jazz. Yes, it's short for something, but Jazz is what I prefer to go by online, so please respect that.
- I'm 23 and work full-time! I have a regular schedule, but my days off are usually Wednesday and Thursday. Sometimes it'll change if one of my coworkers is gonna be out, but I'm usually off at midnight EST, so I tend to respond at weird hours lol
- I'm bi and agender, so you can call me by whatever pronouns. It doesn't matter too much.
- I've always been weak for fantasy and sci-fi themes, anything from dragons and mages to androids to the zombie apocalypse. These will always be my preferences, but I also like the occasional slice of life. I also have no preferences to time periods, so yeah. I'm very simple to please lol
- Personally, I'm very pro-mental health awareness and feel strongly against all forms of discrimination, so I do have characters with disabilities and of different races. My focus does tend to be more towards mental health, so I do have a habit of most all characters I create having mental illnesses. I don't make their lives revolve around mental health, though. Like, if a character has a dissociative disorder, they're not gonna be "absent" through the entire RP, or if a character has anxiety, their life isn't going to revolve around being anxious all the time, because that's going too far. But if a character dissociates or responds in a way you consider as unusual, they're probably experiencing symptoms of something.
- I read relatively fast, so I don't have a preference to post length, but I will get more engrossed in RPs where there's room for long responses. I also like to talk, so if you want to talk ooc, I am very open to side conversations!

- Muse A is a human cursed with the ability to read how much time someone has left to them upon physical contact. One day, they bump into someone on the streets and the time they see is in the negative... This person was supposed to die what appears to be several years ago. They turn and catch Muse B's eye, but Muse B doesn't know that they know. By some odd stretch of fate, Muse A and Muse B wind up as coworkers. Will Muse B catch on to what Muse A knows? Will Muse A learn the truth about Muse B?
- With the advent of the internet, suspicious websites began to circulate around the dark web of nefarious activity... but at the same time, websites designed specifically for nonhuman users to communicate were also created! A lot of them parodied websites humans made, but they could only be accessed by individuals who activated their magic. One day, Muse A discovers one such website by pure accident... and they're forced into a journey of self-discovery after Muse B meets them on the websites and decides to take them up on "proving it."
- Muse A is a modern-day monster hunter being tried for murder... Muse B knows who they are and decides to bust them out, much to Muse A's surprise. The surprise amplifies when Muse A is freed and discovers Muse B is, themselves, a nonhuman who Muse A had been targeting before they were caught!
- Muse A is a monster hunter who was, by a sadistic twist of fate, turned into a monster... They can't return to their base for fear of being killed, but the only monsters they know of are the sorts better off dead... Muse A is forced into a life on the run. Muse B is an ordinary nonhuman who wants nothing more than to become human, if there is a way. They've been searching for years. Of course they recognize Muse A right away when they meet them... But the two are surprised to find that their goals are the same. Muse B decides to offer Muse A a deal: Muse B has found a way to become human, and they want to become human, too, but they'll only take Muse A with them if Muse A agrees to help them with something first: There's someone Muse B wants dead, and Muse A might stand a chance if they use their newfound abilities.
- Muse A is a refugee from another world who was snuck away onto earth and Muse B is their host family here who is now responsible for teaching Muse A about human society and how to blend in.
- Muse A and Muse B are roommates and Muse A discovers their roommate isn't human.
- Muse A has a wish they want granted more than anything else... Something they want enough to try the stupid ritual in that strange book. Surprisingly enough, the book summons a real-life demon to their room! In exchange for their soul being damned to hell, Muse A can request a wish from Muse B... Or so they thought. Muse B doesn't want to enter a contract and instead has their own wish of the human Muse A. Will Muse A be able to convince Muse B to give them what they really want?
- Muse A finds a dragon egg one day... It hatches and they find themselves with a real dragon in a world where it would be impossible to hide a full-grown dragon. But, they might not have to! Their dragon reveals a human form... So, dragons have learned to camouflage themselves many years ago? But how did this dragon wind up with Muse A? Why are there dragons on earth? There are more questions than answers, and two opposing factions present themselves: A human approaches Muse A to try to recruit them to an attack force and a dragon disguised as a human approaches Muse A to try to recruit them to a task force. What is the truth? What do the dragons represent, and which faction of dragon riders is correct?
- Muse A is a dream demon and Muse B is stuck in a coma. Unable to wake up, they beg the stranger in their dreams to keep them company, but Muse A wonders if Muse B truly understands what it means for them to be a dream demon. They decide to stick around for a while, but eventually, they have to tell Muse B that if they stick around for too long, they risk Muse B never waking up.
- Muse A is a duke/duchess meant to receive a parcel from a rival... Muse B is the messenger sent to give it. In a bout of distrust, Muse A forces Muse B to open the parcel to make sure there is nothing untoward about it. A burst of magic sets a curse unto Muse B, and Muse A is wracked with guilt and decides that they will do whatever it takes to crush their rival and cure Muse B of their new curse.
- Muse A is a renowned apothecary, said to be able to cure even the incurable. Their abilities rival even modern medicine... Some even suspect witchcraft or magic. Muse B is a nonhuman plagued by severe headaches. With nobody to turn to, they seek out this apothecary for help... But will Muse A know how to help a nonhuman? Will they be willing to try?
- Beast tamers are commonplace in this world... Anything from dragon riders to little girls who keep small, magical kittens as pets. Anything is possible... Until the magical beast that imprints on Muse A is completely different from what they wanted or expected. Muse B can either be the familiar or another beast tamer around Muse A.
- Muse A is looking for a family heirloom that was stolen from them by the antagonist. They recruit others also wronged by this antagonist in a quest to retrieve the heirloom. Basically just a shounen anime storyline lol
- Muse A is a longtime servant to a nonhuman lord. Muse B is a new servant to the same lord, one not broken down and who still dreams of escape... Will Muse A break and help them? Will Muse B want to be helped by Muse A when they learn of the dark secrets behind the lord and what being a longtime servant meant doing?
- Muse A and Muse B are supposed to be rivals as the heirs to their respective mage families... but they wind up becoming childhood friends, instead. They are the best of friends and swear to grow strong together and end the bad blood between their families... Until one day, Muse A's family decides to plan a sneak attack on Muse B and hires someone to turn Muse B. Losing their magic and not knowing how to face their family, Muse B runs away. Several years later, Muse A finds Muse B with no memories and with far more scars than they remember their dear friend having.
- (Steampunk vibes) Muse A is a duke/duchess who pretends to be lame out of hatred for their family line, but who is secretly an alchemist who roams the black market as an assassin-for-hire. Muse B is a devalued younger sibling to their family who develops weird technology that they sell to the black market. The two have worked together before, but one day, Muse B learns who Muse A really is and decides to blackmail them into an arranged marriage. They stand to gain much from working together, but this is not a great start. Will they end up working out their differences, or will they wind up at odds with each other?
- Whoever said magic and science can't work together? In the distant future of a standard fantasy-land, Fae, beastmen, dragons, and humans have developed means of communicating with each other and developed superhuman armors, technology, etc. Humans can take to the skies with artificial wings and replicate spells with magical tools refined by technology, dragons can operate smartphones, and Fae can finally reinforce their admittedly-flimsy wings. All should be well with the world... Until a resistance is created, where a mixture of races rebel against the human government that has been allowed to prevail. It turns out the humans have been planning a mass extinction for the other races! I feel like this would be most fun with a combination of characters from both sides, or with the angst of a character from the resistance being super close with a nationalist from the human side and them trying to convince the other.
- The government has developed superhuman weapons intended to persecute unruly humans... Most of these are soldiers proven to have exceptional loyalty and who have expressed no interest in reproduction. Muse A is one such soldier who was chosen to obtain these abilities and who has had their emotions suppressed. Muse B is a childhood friend who loved Muse A before Muse A joined the military. Now they see their friend again while Muse A is chasing a known criminal. They recognize their friend immediately and are shocked and horrified to learn that Muse A is no longer the person they once knew... But Muse B wants their friend back. Muse A wants to go back to civilian life, but they also don't want to put Muse B in danger. Angst, suspense, and anti-government hijinks commence.
- Muse A is playing a virtual reality game with realistic sensations and with AI that rival even real human beings by means of how realistic they feel... They form an adventurer team in their game and make friends with their party members. One day, the game is discontinued for ethical reasons, and at first muse A doesn't understand, until they learn that their in-game best friend and partner was actually an AI all along. Some of their companions were real and some are AI who will be erased when the game goes under. Will the teammates accept that their companions were 0s and 1s all along, or will they fight to get back their beloved party members? Did their party members truly care for them? Is it possible for a simulation of an emotion to compare to the real deal?
- Muse A is an artificial human who was created and given false memories, but was essentially "born" as an adult. Muse B is someone who becomes close to them and notices something is off about Muse A. Their memories feel inconsistent... Muse A slowly starts to uncover new memories featuring them waking up in a lab and being tested. Will Muse A be the same when they get their memories back? Why was Muse A created? Will Muse B be able to stay with Muse A or will Muse A be changed irreparably and ripped from everything they know?
- Zombies. :v Literally anything about the zombie apocalypse can be worked out; I'm a sucker for a good zombie plot, so anything's fair game.
- Magic has been brought to the planet earth by force, and now humans, plants, animals, and the environment itself are distorting. Some people develop superpowers or colored skin but are otherwise fine, others become suspiciously ill or lose themselves and begin to attack. In a world where anything and anyone can become an enemy, with or without warning, how will our muses survive?
- Demons have overtaken the world and an anti-demon task force has been created, where young, able-bodied individuals use magical artifacts stolen from demons to fight against demons. In these days, "angels" have been born--That is, humans granted holy magic to be used to fight back against the demons and prevent a complete massacre of the planet earth. Muse A, an Angel newly awakened to their power, is discovered and approached by a demon before they can return to the task force. They're scared for their life... Until the demon brings forth a phrase that hasn't existed since before the end of days: The demon asks Muse A if they would like to form a contract. Muse B was a powerful name before the apocalypse and who has been building their strength with the intention of lending their power to Angels and giving insider knowledge about demon weaknesses. Scared for their life, Muse A reluctantly agrees to the contract, and so begins their crusade against demonkind at the behest of a demon.
- A disease that humans are immune to has turned all animals into feral beasts, forcing humans to have to hunt their own pets and live in constant fear.

I could only be arsed to add three to start with, but I'll probably add more with time. Maybe.
Silver ????
Demon
Age: ??? (Physically 25)
Gender: Agender/often gets gendered female
Sexuality: Bisexual/no preference
Personality: Silver is exactly the kind of blunt who will find a way to get under even the thickest of skin given the opportunity, but she has a soft side she doesn't keep secret and she'll protect anyone she sees at a disadvantage. She'll start banter with anyone, even people she probably shouldn't, but she prides herself in being a woman of her word, and she finds creative ways to help people she's not "allowed" to for various reasons. All in all, she's a great ally to have on your team.
Abilities: Shapeshifting, shadow magic, blood magic, various other tricks
Weaknesses: If her choker comes off or she uses too much mana, she starts to lose control of her magic. She also has a lot of unique restrictions imposed upon her due to her role in Hell.
Background: She appeared in Hell one day and declared herself to be a new lord of Hell. She backed up her words with action and now fights for the rights for demons to do whatever. She believes in letting demons choose their own fates, whereas most other denizens of Hell force others into submission to assert dominance. She lets those under her jurisdiction make their own decisions, but she also doesn't protect them from the consequences of their actions, which is why most demons turn a blind eye to her idealistic nature. However, she doesn't have a lot of allies in Hell, and has made quite a few enemies...
Cecilia Miller
Human/Witch (depending on the plot)
Age: 22+
Gender: Female (she/her)
Sexuality: Lesbian
Personality: Cece is outwardly friendly and outgoing, compassionate and nice... Or so she would have you believe. She's the kind of self-centered person who is great at appearing innocent but really just can't bring herself to care about the people around her. She wants nothing more than to see the people she dislikes suffer, and if she had the means to make them suffer, herself, she probably would. Deep down, she's struggling with all sorts of repressed emotions, and depending on how you treat her, you can either get a genuinely good friend out of her... or the type of girl you really shouldn't have pissed off.
Weaknesses: She's not very good at expressing herself, she's not very physically strong, she has PTSD that gets triggered by loud noises/yelling, she's not actually as mean as she wants to be
Background: Her father abused her from a young age and her mother did nothing. She spent her teen life plotting her escape and eventually got out, but now she doesn't know who to be, and her character can go a lot of different ways depending on the people she winds up around.
Aiolo Neyallis
Celestial Spirit
Age: n/a
Gender: Male (he/they/it)
Sexuality: pan
Personality: He's playful and smiles a lot, but he's not mischevious. He's pretty timeless and knows he'll outlive most beings on Earth, so he's very patient and loves to spend time learning about different people and the kinds of lives they lead. Despite never knowing real personal hardship, he still takes other people's problems very seriously and tries his best to be a good person and a good friend.
Weaknesses: He's bad at understanding what causes emotional reactions/what he does wrong if he offends someone
Abilities: He can use light/illusion magic, he can change his physical age freely, and he can turn intangible
Background: He was born in space and was very lonely upon his creation, so now he travels to different planets in an attempt to learn more about himself through learning about others.
