Jakaal is a Werepanther, moving both bipedaly and quadrupedaly at will. His skin is covered by black fur, short enough to make his numerous tattoos visible. Torso of his ends with a long tail. Jay's fingers end with sharp claws desinged to rip his enemies apart, while long fangs are meant to dig deep, incapacitating whatever pray he finds. His face reminds that of a panther, with striking yellow eyes.
Personality
No matter what this is, as long as it's in my rainforest it's head belong on my spear! Jakaal |
Jakaal is a very territorial individual, who will protect whatever ground he considers his at all cost. Any trespassers who fail to announce their presence before entering his territory will be most likely ambushed and, if everything goes as planned, killed, with their corpses impaled on the edges of Werepanther's domain, as a warning for any future naggers.
When on neutral ground, Jakaal will be observant, as any good hunter should be. He will act out emotions to gain trust and acceptance of whatever group he'll find himself in, adapting to the situation. He will attempt to make friends, but will do so mostly as a mean of gaining influence and information, since his life taught him to care only about his own hide.
History
Jakaal grew up in a small village of Werepanthers, located in a remote area of a bushy rainforest. It was ruled by his father, who was an old and just man, respected among the community. Unfortunetly, the fragile chief was one of the first ones to die after human hunters encountered the well-hidden settlment, by using traps and weapons unknown to the locals.
The circumstances made it necessary for a new leader to be found, with Jakaal being the rightful hier. He was 13 at this point, which is still 2 years too young for a Werepanther to be considered an adult. He had opposition in form of stronger, ambitious and accomplished tribesmen. His early ritual of passing was interrupted by above mentioned and he himself was exiled from the tribe as a mean of strenghting the influence of the new chief.
Jakaal was on his own for years, constantly running from human and Werepanther hunters. The attacks of the latter stopped soon, since the tribe didn't manage to survive, fighting with devastating human raids from the outside and never ending conflicts for leadership on the inside. On top of that they inducted wrath of the forest gods by disrupting the ancient line of chiefs, which led to Werepanthers losing access to nature magic. Fortunetly for Jakaal, he wasn't present when the curse was cast, so the gods' punishment omitted him.
He managed to establish his territory after dwelling deep into the Rainforest, where one can witness things unknown to the rest of the world, or so they say. Either way, neither humans or whatever is left of the Werepanthers dare set foot into the inner forest, which is exactly what Jakaal wants. Even after his traumatic experiences he is still curious of the world and will often venture out of his territory in search of bigger, more dangerous game and more magnificent trophies.
Magic/Spells
-
Equipment
Jakaal mostly relies on his natural weapons in form of claws and dagger-sharp fangs, but he is capable of making basic tools from wood and stone, such as bowls and spears.
Skills
-Jakaal possesses permanent heat vision, which allows him to see humans and animals more easily. It is extremly helpful in the wild, but it also makes it hard for him to see many things obvious for many in civilised areas, such as writtings or other details that don't produce heat.
-Many generations living in rainforests made Werepanthers extremly resistant to poison.
-His feline lineage and years spent in the wildreness made Jakaal an excelent climber
Weaknesses
-Jakaal is morbidly afraid of water and will avoid it at all cost.
-Just like his smaller, domestic cousins, Jakaal has a weak spot at the back of his neck. If his scurff is grabbed he will completly freeze, incapable of movement.
-Unable to read, due to only possessing heat vision.
