I've Got My Eye On You (1x1 Between The Math Wizard & GeekPride18)

Lady Insanity

I live for the chaos, yet I'd die for peace.
Reserved 1x1. No sense in posting a story synopsis here because we both know that's going on xD Story to come in our RP! :)

( @The Math Wizard First post is a little jumbled, but it's merely a kickstarter, my dear friend! :) )

Alexis groaned. It's Thursday, the only say she happens to have a night class at the community college. And it's a mathematics class....she hates math. Her bag was slung over her shoulder, the other strap meant for the opposite shoulder carelessly dangling down. She wore a Spider-Man t shirt, it's design similar to the comic book cover artwork, as well as a basic black pair of skinny jeans and converse shoes. Her hair was back in a ponytail, she didn't care how she looked, it was just a nightclass, and everyone there, even her instructor, was practically half-asleep. She exited the building in which her class took place and walked outside into the cold night air. She shivered. "Damn..should have brought my jacket." She said to herself, the wind blowing and adding to the chilly night. She wandered off campus.

Moments later, she arrived in the old warehouse a few miles off campus. The warehouse served as a secret HQ to Hunters, the organization in which she belonged to...'secretly'. (You and I know the backstory, so I won't explain it that much. lol) She let out a huge yawn as she entered, waving at the other men and women within the warehouse. Some of them were in Hunter attire, ready to head out into the night, others were in casual wear. She set her bag down against a wall. Alexis walked over to the commander. "Evening, sir." She saluted, even though she didn't have to. "This morning I got a call saying you had special work for me tonight?" She asked. "Preferably alone..." She said, a sad look on her face...she still mourned the loss of her team. It's been years...but she didn't care. Moments passes by as he briefed her, she nodded as she listened..."...and in addition to basic rounds and watches tonight, I'm sending you to the wild-life reserve. There have been more sightings of the werecat...and I want you on it." He said to her, she gulped.

(It's already getting long, I'll continue her story next post, now for Tobias' intro! :) )

(Let's see if I can type this on the tablet while my cat rubs her face on it xD )

Tobias stretched out on the tree branch he had taken up temporary residency on. His claws scratched at the bark and his back arched into the air. It had been a peaceful nap, but now he had to answer to his grumbling stomach.

He took a moment to sniff the air and scan the immediate area. The overgrown cat sat on the branch--tail flicking--as he contemplated what to hunt. The birds were sleeping, but the people in charge of the reserve would notice their absence. With a huff, Tobias scaled down the tree and began padding through the trees. His nose twitched as he sniffed the air, trying to find a trace of the rodents sure to be scurrying about.

It took him longer than he would have liked to find something. What he did find, though, was worth the wait: a nice, large field mouse. Tobias licked his lips as he hunched down and started stalking the mouse. If he was lucky, maybe the fuzzy rodent would lead him to more.

(Cripes, it takes forever to type on this thing.)

"But, sir...I" Alexis began, the commander cut her off. "I don't wanna hear it, trooper. I know you lost your team...but there's got to be a time when you stand up and fight your fears. It's time to prove yourself...I have faith in you, Alexis. You're one of my best Hunters, and you're still so young...you can do it, child." He said. He always called her "child"...she really didn't know why he did that. She wanted to argue...but now, everyone in the base was looking at her. She was still relatively new in the Hunters...but one of the best? Doubtful! She sighed.

"Well...alright. But I can't promise perfect results." She admitted. He nodded. "I only expect you to give it you all." He said and smiled. The other Hunters in HQ cheered her on with comments, smiles, and slight clapping for encouragement. 'You can do this! We believe you can! Go get 'em!' They said. She grinned.

Alexis walked over to the weapon rack/changing area. She quickly changed into her "uniform", consisting of a solid grey tank top and dark cargo pants, fitted to her legs for agility. She slipped on her boots and gloves and got her weapons. Strapping on her holsters, she sheathed her sword on her back, her dagger and handgun on her waist, throwing knives on her hips in little slots, and she slipped brass knuckles in her pockets. After she geared up, she headed toward the exit and picked up the typical gray bag full of bait, this bait tailored to werecats.

A half hour passed before she arrived at the wild life reserve, weapons tucked away in their holding-compartments on her outfit and the bag of bait in her hand. "Why did I walk here? I could have taken the car..the cycle...anything! But nooooo, Alexis, you just had to walk!" She said to herself in a slight argument...with herself? She snapped out of it, realizing she must have looked crazy. She walked further into the reserve, bait bag in hand, clutching it tightly.

(and I'll go on from here next post xD )

Tobias froze as he realized the field mouse had spotted him. There was a sudden rustling as the mouse darted off into the brush, and Tobias took off after it: kicking up dirt as he ran and making more noise as he chased it through the foliage. Tobias kept stopping to sniff and listen for the mouse, and he kept up the pursuit until it scurried into a hole in the ground. He dug at the dirt with his claws, and reached around with a paw once he opened it up more, but the mouse was too far down.

Growling in defeat, Tobias climbed up the tree and perched on a branch: cleaning the briars and dirt from his coat. His stomach growled again to remind him that he still hadn't eaten. That's when his nose picked up a new smell. Two, in fact. One was a human he hadn't smelled before, but he quickly concluded that it was one of the staff that cared for the animals. The second smell was what had his full attention: food.

Going from one branch to the next, Tobias followed the scents. He wasn't about to turn down a free and effortless meal. Though he was definitely considering slumming it in the outskirts for a few days after his recent lack of success in the reserve. His normal prey was getting too aware of his presence.

Alexis hadn't seen any sign of the werecat in the reserve. She sighed. "I'm gonna be here all night." She muttered. She set the bait bag down for just a minute to quickly undo her ponytail, letting her hair fall down her shoulders to keep the cool night air off of them. She wrapped the hairband around her wrist like a bracelet. She picked the bag back up and proceeded through the reserve. Section by section, she placed bait in the open, some was fish, some was rodent, and some was bird. She didn't know exactly who had acquired this bait, or where from...but she preferred to not know. Along with the bait, she place tiny cameras, carefully hidden in bushes or on treebark, each one with sight of the bait. After she finished dispatching all of the bait, she made her way to the center of the reserve, hiding in the shadows. She pulled out a small device, turning it on and looking at the screen.

The screen displayed each piece of bait in their respective locations. If the werecat was here, it'd likely go for the bait...and whichever piece it hit, she'd immediately run after it to go in for the kill.

(I'm not entirely sure, but is Tobias in his "housecat" form or his werecat form?)

(Housecat, currently)

Tobias kept moving towards the smells. He eventually lost track of the human smell, but another smell became a bit more pungent. Was that...fish? It had been a while since he had fish; he wasn't exactly the most skilled fishercat. Something he should work on...

He finally arrived at a little clearing where some fish had been left. He didn't bother checking for the human--he was too hungry. Not wanting to get any dirt, he partially shifted back--coming upon the fish in his hybrid form and picking up a piece in order to dust away any dirt before eating.

"Seems like the catch of the day is a break," he purred while smiling at his bad joke.

Alexis looked carefully at her tiny screen. It was in thermal mode, so anything alive would be specially highlighted. A housecat-looking animal stepping into frame where the fish had been dropped off. Odd...the housecat was glowing green in the camera, and a green glow indicated it was a monster...but it was merely a cat...probably a hungry stray. But it started to beep silently. Flashing words came into view: "Beast Detected! Beast Detected!" It read.

Her eyes widened...the cat was a monster! Of course! Werecats typically take normal cat form to blend in...this was it! She nodded to herself and lept out from her hiding spot. She drew out her handgun and dashed over to where she had hidden the fish. She ran, ran as fast as she could. "This is it...finally, their deaths will be avenged!" She said as she ran.

Moments later, she came upon it, the cat, prepping it's meal by...cleaning it? Normal cats don't do that...this had to be the target. She grinned and took cover behind a tree. She took a silent, deep breath. As she remained behind the tree, she readied her gun, gripping it tight and placing her finger on the trigger. "Loaded, cocked, ready to go." She whispered. Then she combat-rolled away from the tree and aimed her gun at the cat. "Freeze, monster!!!" She shouted, the barrel of her pistol facing the cat as it sat near the dead fish. "One move, and I blow your head off!" She threatened.

(He is in his hybrid form, btw; just for clarity's sake c: )

He was in the midst of eating his meal when he picked up the scent of the human again. But it was dark, and he was careless, and if it truly was a new staff member then they were due their first-night prank. When he was told to freeze, called a monster, and then threatened is when Tobias realized exactly how mistaken--and careless--he had been.

He frowned and looked over at the hunter, and more specifically at the gun pointed at him. He hoped it was loaded with regular ammunition, though a blow to the head with any material was going to hurt.

"...Can I at least finish eating before you try to kill me?"

(I know, the device is designed to detect a monster in any form it takes xD So she see that it's a "housecat", but she is aware it's more than that xD )

She chuckled. A talking cat...how monster-like. "Pshh. Why should I give in to anything you say? You monsters are all the same, even when you're in 'cute and cuddly' forms." She said. She hated monsters...especially after the death of her 5 team members. She took a few steps closer, gun still pointing at the talking cat as it ate its fish.

"I hold power here, freak. Now, do whatever it is you monsters do and transform...I wanna look in your evil eyes as I take my revenge!" She exclaimed, emphasizing the word 'revenge'. She didn't even know for sure f this was the same creature that killed her team...but she didn't care. She was blinded by vengeance, and she wanted blood. She egged the cat on to morph into it's true werecat form...she really wanted to shoot it in it's monster mode.

(next post will host an interesting turn of events from Alexis xD )

Every time she used the word "monster," Tobias flattened his ears, angled them back, and growled. Oh, how he wanted to give this hunter a run for her money. His demeanor changed and his ears perked back up as she emphasized the word "revenge." Tobias chuckled and continued eating, pausing between bites to talk to her.

"Unless I accidentally ate your gerbil, I think you've got the wrong cat. And if I did eat your gerbil...I apologize." He'd finish, then sit firmly on the ground. "But I've never killed a person. I've learned that you get more food out of them when you're 'cute and cuddly' than when you try hunting them. Especially the older ones. They really like cats." He'd smile cheerily and purr.

She tilted her head. "What are you rambling about? You're a low-life monster, and a freak, and a liar!" She exclaimed. She didn't believe a single word he said, nor did she care what he had to say. He was the only werecat she had ever seen, she was convinced it was him. He had to have killed her team.

"Enough talk, beast. I won't hear you anymore!" She said, forcing a final confrontation. She preferred doing this the hard way...even she she was unaware this wasn't the cat she was looking for, but she thought so. She growled at him and fired her pistol, the bullet missing the cat entirely and hitting the ground beside it. "Damn." She said and holstered her gun, drawing out her sword from her back. She charged at him...even though he was basically a housecat. (I figured a little fight would be fun, plus it gives them something to talk about later! :) )

"I'm a liar, not a kill--YAAH!" Tobias leaped away in surprise as the gun shot. His ears were ringing and he began shaking his head vigorously--stopping in time to see the hunter charging at him with a sword. He dodged to the side, sliding on his paws and leaving a small cloud of dust that settled quickly. His fur bristled, ears flattened back, and he hissed.

"Watch it, you could hurt someone with that thing!" His tail began flicking back and forth.

She laughed. " I plan on doing much more than hurting you!" She shouted. She snarled angrily, hate in her brown eyes as she swung her blade yet again, swinging it an inch over Tobias' head, the wind from the blade grazing his ears slightly. She then stabbed the ground beside of him, missing yet again, her anger making her clumsier than normal. Usually, she was very accurate in swordplay. She growled. Alexis then decided it best to just kick him, so she kicked him as hard as she could in the stomach, sending him flying a few feet away. "C'mon you coward, fight me!" She said as he flew.

(side note, if a fight isn't exactly in your plans, I've got a few other things up my sleeve xp)

(Nah, I can work with a fight~)

Tobias ducked down as the sword swung over his head, then jumped to the side as it was stabbed into the ground. He stared in shock at the sword, perhaps a bit too long, as he soon found the wind knocked out of him as he was sent flying through the air from a well-placed kick to his stomach. He landed with a thud and started gasping for air--all the while limping towards the trees and bushes.

"You kick me," he coughed and gasped for air, "but I'm the coward?"

He finally recovered from the kick and scrambled up a tree. He'd jump from branch to branch, trying to find a good vantage point. Finally placing himself above the hunter, Tobias dropped down to ambush her with claws. "I'm warning you, I'll bite!"

Alexis yelped as she was ambushed with claws. She struggled, dropping her sword and trying to get him off of her. "Go ahead and bite, it'll just give me more reason to slice your throat and watch you bleed to death!" She threatened as he kept assaulting her with his claws. She finally managed to pry Tobias off of her and toss him back down to the ground. She had several scratches on her face and one or two on her neck. She grunted, glancing at her sword on the ground a few feet away. She groaned and drew her gun again, aiming at Tobias. "I'm going to kill you." She said.

She wanted a real fight...but she was just so enraged, she wanted this cat dead.

Tobias turned as he was thrown: landing on his feet and sliding across the ground. He stared at the gun as she aimed it at him, but given her recent string of misses--except for that kick--, Tobias wasn't too worried about getting shot. He was getting cocky.

"You want to kill me, I get that, but...why? I cause a little misfortune now and then, but I don't think that warrants killing me." He began walking steadily, circling the area and flicking his tail in anticipation. He kept his eyes on her as his ears twitched about--listening for any other sounds, purely out of habit.

"...By the way, what kind of bullets are those?" ...Or maybe his curiosity would get him killed sooner than his cocky attitude.

"They're the kind of bullets that send you to Hell." She said fiercely, her eyes like daggers. "I want you dead because it's the likes of you that killed my squad....Jason, Violet, Connor, Ethan, Hunter, all of them...dead because of you!" She shouted angrily, firing the gun without a second thought and actually managing to shoot Tobias in the tail.

She smirked, shooting him, even though it merely damaged his tail, gave her loads of enjoyment.

Getting shot, the sudden feel of pain, and the loud noise from the gun sent him running. Tobias scrambled up the nearest tree. He was done talking out in the open with this madwoman.

"Again, I didn't kill anyone! Would I be eating fish someone left on the ground if I did?" He sat down in the tree and curled his tail around so that he could clean and inspect it. The bullet took part of his tail off, but fortunately didn't stay. Silver or not, no bullet meant the bleeding would stop soon and his body would start healing. At least he'd eventually have his full tail back.

"...Would it help if I showed you my face?"

"It would help if you would die!" She said, and began unload a series of shots into the tree until she heard a click. The click meant her gun was empty. And not a single shot had hit Tobias, though it had done a number on that poor tree. She grunted. She never actually saw the werecat's face--the one that killed her team, that is--so seeing Tobias wouldn't help. She pulled another magazine from her belt to reload the gun, and then she heard it...rustling in the bushes. She froze. "Hey, you up there...you invite a few friends to the party?" She asked the shot-in-tail cat up in the tree. She whipped around in a 180.

She loaded the gun and cocked it, aiming it at the bushes. "Come out! Show yourself!" She demanded. Moments later, a werecat in all its monster glory rose from the bushes...total surprise. The monster grinned, it's fur was dark and gritty. It laughed. "So...you're the Hunter who's team was way too easy to demolish...I doubt if you were there it would have helped." He said, his voice menacing, unintentionally purring and growling. Here eyes widened. "You...y-you! You're the one who killed them!" She said and aimed at it's head.

She gulped. He nodded. "And you're the one shooting at one of my kind." He said again, not revealing any sort of relation he had to Tobias. She fired the gun, emptying the round into...nothing. He dodged every bullet, faster than lightning, and he escaped...just showing up and leaving...what a douche. She puffed in and out, her breath frantic. Alexis fell to her knees. "So..it was...that one....and....you're innocent?" She called up to Tobias in the tree. She clenched her fist tightly. "DAMN!" She exclaimed and punched the ground as hard as she could, nearly breaking her hand.

(hope it's not too soon for that character to make a cameo xD my creativity just told me to....gosh I'm dumb xD )

(S'all good~)

Tobias watched the events unfold from his perch. He saw the other werecat, but more importantly he caught his scent. One he hadn't smelled in years, and one he would deny knowing from here on out if it meant saving his hide. He was just glad that he didn't have to get between the hunter and the other werecat.

As the woman punched the ground, Tobias climbed back down the tree. He'd sit down at the base, and gave her a sympathetic look.

"Not all of us are monsters, you know. ...Sorry for scratching you, by the way." He gave a nervous laugh. "...Do you still want to kill me?"

Alexis kept her head down. She stared into the ground, her fist still in the spot of impact with he ground, now shaking violently. "Don't apologize...don't say anything....just go. Go while you can, cat. Go while I'm in shock before my bloodlust comes back." She admitted, appearing as if she was trying to push-dig a hole in the ground with her knuckles. Her hair fell down over her face.

Tobias gave a soft sigh. He should have ran. Hell, he was being told to leave. But he sat there, stubbornly, and looked at her.

"You're going to need help if you want to take him on." Tobias began carefully walking over to her. He felt like he owed her, now knowing what was going on. "I'm clearly out of practice, but... I can help. If you'll let me."

"Help? How the hell can you help me? And why should I look to a beast for it?" She figuratively barked. She looked at him, a mere cat. "I can take care of myself, you little ingrate. I won't say it again, leave." She said, gruel and dark. She meant business...but she could sense he wasn't going anywhere.

"Little bit of training and I could give that tomcat a run for his money," Tobias said as he did a little prance. He'd then look and grin at the hunter. "I do have a name, by the way. It's Tobias. Friends--and sometimes the less friendly--call me Tobi."

He'd sit down in front of Alexis. "That, uh...other werecat? He's more animal than anything. He's dangerous. And not to be rude, but you humans get hurt pretty easily."
