Wut'n th'name of davy jonez lockr is uh sall-add?
The world is spinning around you, your thoughts surge forth like an errant locomotive barreling into the side of a mountain at full speed. You experience life at all once from the womb until the day you perished. Was it regretful, do you have doubts about the nature of your being? The first sensation you will feel is the searing cold of marble floor beneath you, rough and jagged and riddled with cracks...its seems an event took place here. To your flanks seem to be seats for some important figures, but they are shrouded in shadow. Those with higher perceptions may sense the dread they experienced, etched into this space and frozen in time. In front of you is a figure, towering over you. He is covered in a veil of warm light that oscillates rhythmically. The figure has no defining features, but it has an energy core spinning erratically where a human's heart would be. It tries to stand, but the silhouette of its arms tremble. It falls shortly after, struggling to even lift its own head back up.

"children, we have failed you", came a belabored voice. The figure paused, as if to catch its breath before stating, "I am sorry that I could not buy you more time or explain things further... but our time is short. I hope you can lend me your ear for but a moment". The figure paused and waited for as many spirits to stir before saying, " you have ten years to reverse your fortune, would be leaders and heroes of the human world...it is my regret that us impotent gods can not aid you further for it is taking everything we have to give you this second chance. But fear not, I shall impart a boon to those who desire it". The figure lifted its arm and seemingly pointed weakly toward the group of about forty individuals. " look for the mark...overcome your fate, and transcend your limits to protect your world"... Those who accepted the boon, may roll and attempt to ask one question to the figure. Those who reject it will be sent back to earth right away. All will be branded with canary of light on their left hands, a mark that lights up when mana was is used.

You will immediately wake up on new years day, year 1450, 10 years before the fall of mankind. A celebration is taking place, crowds of people roar across the continent as fireworks light up the sky. A world full of hope as they enjoy the bountiful fruits of their labor, full of hope for the future. Everywhere you look if you out in public the aroma of good food assaults your senses. The smiles and energy of those who dance without knowing what's to come flood the streets and dance the night away. Meanwhile the queen somberly sits upon her throne, looking down upon her subjects. Her eyes have a slight glint of rage before she shakes her head and calms her nerves. Elsewhere a mathematician in a stuffy lab tirelessly scribbles formulas and notes across his walls and furniture.

Things stir in the dark places of the world once more. Emboldened by the reawakening and lack higher authority to suppress them, things which have not seen the light of day for 10,000 years emerge once more amidst the celebrations. Things even the gods forgot about slither from the depths of the abyss, silently leaving death in their wake. Temporal cracks in the universe bleed, undulating and resonating with like a beacon for the mana sensitive in the world. Somewhere in the shadows, a slain woman clad in cursed armor leaves a dark dank cave. The man clad in tatter garb was deemed useless and left behind. The only clue left of the being's existence is a set of three toe'd tracks accompanied by heavy boots. Meanwhile the demon king's people do his bidding, slowly closing in on those with extraordinary fates. Although this time they are no longer being guided like a homing missile to their targets, demons, beasts and men conspire to change the course of history as they had once before.

A window opens up before your eyes, it's filled with columns of numbers previously unknown to you. A timer sits at the bottom, ticking down second by second starting from 9 years,11 months,30 days,23:59.

If you took the boon, roll in the ooc thread. 1 = debuff(can be funny). 2-5 = average boon that does what it says it does 6 = cheat skill

The End of the Beginning

The ruins of the magical college stretched endlessly before him, their once-pristine towers reduced to jagged silhouettes against a crimson sky. Fires crackled in the distance, casting flickering shadows on the cobblestones slick with rain and blood. The air reeked of charred stone, ozone, and despair. Caelum Veyr stood in the center of the great courtyard, his robes torn, his hands trembling as he traced glowing sigils into the air.

It wasn’t enough.

The spellwork shimmered, fragile and fleeting, before unraveling in his grasp. Time magic required precision, and his hands shook too much for the delicate glyphs. His reservoir of mana felt like a dried-up well, the power trickling out of him in weak, useless threads. He clenched his teeth, swallowing the lump in his throat as his vision blurred.

Not like this. Not when I’m so close.

Behind him, the monstrosity roared—a sound that tore through the fabric of reality, reverberating in his very bones. He didn’t dare look back. He didn’t need to; he had felt its presence ever since it breached the temporal rift, a chaotic swirl of energies too vast for mortal comprehension. The creature was neither alive nor dead, a shard of the temporal rupture that had undone the world as he knew it.

The disaster was supposed to be preventable. He was supposed to stop it. But he had never grown strong enough, had never advanced beyond the limits of his own fear, doubt, and procrastination.

Caelum cursed himself under his breath as he staggered forward, dragging one leg that refused to obey him. His mind raced through calculations, permutations, any thread of possibility that might stave off the inevitable. But the truth loomed in the back of his mind: he was out of time.

The creature breached the courtyard. A singularity of shadow and chaos loomed over him, its form impossible to define, shifting between shapes that defied logic. Its presence was overwhelming, a crushing weight that pressed down on his mind and soul.

“I’m not ready,” he whispered, his voice hoarse and broken. The admission felt like acid on his tongue. “I was never ready.”

As the creature descended, Caelum stared at the fractured temporal core. Its light pulsed weakly, a dying heartbeat. He reached out, his bloodied fingers trembling as they brushed against the broken shards.

His last thought was not of the creature, nor of the disaster consuming the world. It was of the lost years, the missed opportunities, the knowledge left unlearned. If I had just... one more chance...

The world dissolved into darkness as the singularity consumed him.

The Realm of the gods

When Caelum opened his eyes, he was no longer in the ruined courtyard. A vast, infinite expanse stretched out before him, glittering with stars and constellations that pulsed with an ethereal light. The air felt thick with power, vibrating with a low hum that resonated in his chest. He stood on a platform of cold marble, suspended in a void where time and space seemed to have no meaning.

In front of him loomed the gods—a council of abstract, radiant figures, their forms shifting between shapes that mortal minds could barely comprehend. One figure stepped forward, its form solidifying into something almost tangible—a cascade of light and shadow that flickered like the edges of a dream. Its voice carried the weight of eternity, resonating deep within Caelum’s soul as it spoke alone.

"children, we have failed you", came a belabored voice. The figure paused, as if to catch its breath before stating, "I am sorry that I could not buy you more time or explain things further... but our time is short. I hope you can lend me your ear for but a moment". A die of shimmering light appeared before him, floating in the air. Caelum stared at it, his thoughts racing. A part of him wanted to question this offer, to demand answers, but the deeper part of him—the part consumed by failure and regret—saw this for what it was: his only chance.

“I accept,” he said, his voice steady despite the storm of emotions within him.

The gods inclined their heads, their forms shifting to reflect an air of approval. “You may also ask one question. One truth shall be yours to take with you.”

Caelum reached for the die, its cool surface humming beneath his fingers. He rolled it across the crystal platform, the die tumbling end over end, glowing brighter with each turn. As it rolled, he looked up at the gods, his jaw tight as he forced out the question that had haunted him for years.

“What caused the rupture in the first place?”

The die came to a stop, its result glowing brightly, but Caelum’s focus remained fixed on the gods, waiting for the answer that would shape not just his next life, but his entire existence.

When the world ended, Charlie was in a pit. He had fallen hundreds of feet- the distant chatter of countless enemies still audible as the hero waited to die, the raised sword of a statue of a triumphant hero piercing his chest. Charlie felt his remaining magic slowly regenerate his wounds, keeping him trapped between life and death- the dank scent of the catacombs and the distant roar of monsters his only companion. For days he hung there, tears filling his eyes as he struggled to escape the agony, wishing his dagger was nearby, so he could end that burning pain. The distant light of the dying world his only reminder that time still moved, though he was in far too much pain to try and tell how far he had spent in the cave.

Charlie eventually managed to escape the prison, taking weeks to summon enough energy to lift his body from the steel, before falling to the ground.

One leg was broken, so he limped through the cave, desperately seeking an exit. Even if he had his strength, he couldn't climb out of the abyss- and he began to feel the pangs of hunger overwhelm him. His faithful top hat rested on a distant ledge, just out of reach. The hat had immense stores of food within its interdimensional pocket, but it served only to taunt him.

He found the first body as he struggled to crawl to the small pool of water he drank from. Rot had barely set on the creature, he reasoned it wasn't human- and he had to survive. He resisted the urge to feed on the corpse for weeks, rocking back in forth in his secluded cave- feeling the outside world wither around him.

Charlie felt it when the world ended, his psychic powers picking up the gods conversation- everything he had fought for, lost for- was gone. Rage filled the mage as he struggled to his feet and descended upon the corpse. The creature had rigid horns growing from its head, and Charlie didn't waste anything- fashioning the bones into climbing equipment before finally climbing from the pit.

Charlie looked upon the world he had fallen from so long ago, and saw nothing but ash and chaos. Distant castles burned, even weeks after the end people still screamed- tortured by the sadistic demons that had razed the earth. Charlie encountered the first patrol weeks into his descent into feral madness, eagerly looting the bodies forgotten and broken across the land.

The Demons where horrified when they saw the creature he had become, his flesh barley hanging onto his bones, one ear torn from his head- a mad look on his blood splattered face. They barely had time to realize that this was a human before he charged at them, laughing as he dodged their panicked attacks, killing each one before moving on.

For weeks this game continued as the legend of a Wraith on the Countryside spread- battalions sent to kill the creature that once was Charlie. In the night he would silently pick off these armies, hiding in the jungle until nightfall- descending on any unlucky demons who where separated from the group. Nature took the mad mage, dying alone under a tree- the infection from his wounds and the poison from the demons flesh whisking his life away.

Charlie awoke from the embrace of death, his cloak still tattered and bloodstained- his top hat resting on his wild hair. When he first awoke he had immediately thought to attack the strangers- there where no allies or friends left in this world- the heroes had all died, leaving him alone in this world. But a fraction of his mind rebelled against the animal instincts- allowing him to slowly stumble towards the So-Called-God.

"My Mind... Is broken- can you fix it?"
