neville and eleanor

eville, much like the other students at school, was nervous about his first week on campus. While it wasn't his first year, the first week or so was always stressful for a multitude of reasons, and the reasons just multiplied if you were as disorganized and tardy as he was. He only had three classes for the day, yet he managed to completely miss the first one, sat through the wrong class a good portion through the second one, and he had completely forgotten his laptop charger for the third class. Hence why he was currently walking at a brisk pace through the commons outside.

It was a beautiful day, if you could get past the fact that the sun was playing hide and seek with the Earth below it. The air was still, and a little humid, but not intolerable. Neville was a little sweaty from the anxiety and running around like a chicken without a head, and it didn't help that he was wearing a white shirt with a black zipup jacket over it, and long black jeans. He probably looked as stressed as he was, but a part of him couldn't help but feel a little relieved when he glanced at the watch on his wrist and he realized that his class had already started.

Defeated, he took a seat on the bench of the massive water fountain in the middle of the campgrounds. Well, if he was already late, he might as well just miss class. It was one of the first few anyways, there couldn't be anything that important he was missing, right? With a sigh, he took off the backpack he had been wearing and opened it just enough to put the laptop charger inside. Neville pulled out his phone and checked the time, seeing that it was only about 1PM. Briefly, he wondered where Mariana would be, and if she would be down to grab lunch or something. A lot of his other friends, like Harry and the others, had full schedules. Hermione of course was taking as many classes as she could, Ron and Harry tried to get in as many classes together as possible, and Seamus and Dean only shared one class a week with Neville. But, his one friend, Mariana, may have a more lax schedule and perhaps they could start hanging out more often. Neville had opted to take as many of the required classes and cram his freshman year of college, so that way the older he got and the closer to graduation he got, the less classes he would have to take and the more freetime he would have for other things.

Mariana was something special to Neville, although he would most likely take it to the grave. He was absolutely infatuated with her. He had a feeling that most of their mutuals had it figured out by now, but he was hoping and praying to God that his clumsy and awkward personality would cover up the fact that she made Neville's heart do somersaults. He knew she was someone special the moment they met, but he knew she was it for him as their friendship progressed. It was never going to happen though, and so he never dared to tell a soul due to not wanting to lose that friendship he loved just as much as Mariana herself.

Eleanor wasn't much of a fan for school. While she didn't have anything below a B, it just wasn't her scene. Thankfully, the people that she went to high school with either went out to different colleges and she never had to see them again, or the ones that stayed finally grew up. Despite being well liked, she was always worried that people were faking it or only using her for who knows what. Well, she knew what. Drugs and a place to party. She was that girl in high school, and while she still was, she wasn't nearly as off the walls as she once was.

It was around 1PM, and she didn't have another lecture until 330, so she decided to browse around the library. She wasn't much of a reader, but maybe she could find something interesting to read or research. The things that she was interested in she already knew a lot about, but it wouldn't hurt to learn more. Eleanor didn't have anything specific in mind, which explained the bored look on her face as she walked up and down the isles of the large library at the heart of the college.

As she wandered the fiction section, she felt her phone buzz in her pocket, and she pulled it out to check it. Eleanor saw that it was a text from her older brother Ede. However, it was in a groupchat with upwards of 8 or 9 people so she paused to read the messages. Most of them were plans for a party later on that night, and so memes were being sent back and forth. Ede was friends with these two twins, Fred and George, and they were a hoot. Eleanor loved to party with them, so a wide smile crossed her face as she skimmed the texts and saw that they would be in attendance.

'great! ill see yall then. im gonna beat yall at beer pong again lol' She texted back before putting her phone into the pocket of her jean shorts and continued strolling the library isles.
