PERSONALITY: Alan has always been a very mature individual, growing up faster than most due to the conditions of his upbringing. He started working at a young age, understanding the principles of hard work from his father. Those same principles translated to his studies later in life, providing him with the necessary traits to finish top of his class. He was always very responsible, but saw the world a little different than his father. Where his father dared to dream, Alan was stuck in reality. At the hospital he saw some miracles and had great experiences, but also saw very dark things. He saw the effects of criminals, drunk drivers, rapists, and abusive parents to name a few. It made him quite cold and blind to a lot of the good things his profession had to offer. He was still a greatly respected doctor and has great relationships with colleagues and patients, but struggled internally to make real connections - despite longing for them. Overall he is a level minded individual who’s experiences have shaped him to maturity. He is a man of few words but packs a punch when he speaks. He is tranquil and professional because he holds in his true self, a fun loving kid who grew up too fast.

TIME MACHINE
HISTORY: Alan and his father migrated overseas after the war, hoping to achieve the American Dream. To no fault of their own, the duo did not bask in the grandeur that was promised on television. Instead, the two were subject to ridicule, racism, and hatred. Alan's father, a once renounced doctor in South Korea worked dead-end jobs to put food on the table and give Alan a fighting chance in this new country. The two moved around hoping to find the right place to settle down, and Pierre ended up being that place. Dr. Jun Lee was given a chance to be a doctor again in Pierre under the tutelage of Dr. Hammond - a Pierre native who owned the only clinic in town for as long as he could remember. Dr. Hammond had already passed the age of retirement and needed someone to take over the clinic and Jun was the perfect candidate - a man with experience and young enough to keep the place open for a couple more years. During this time, Alan moved away to further his education. Like his father, he joined the most prestigious medical program in the country to become the best doctor he could be. He had the privilege to work under great doctors, doing his residency in the best hospitals in America. One could say that due to his father's sacrifices, Alan achieved the American Dream. Unfortunately, it was during his time away that his father passed away. This undeniably terrible event brought Alan back home to Pierre where he buried his father and took over the town clinic. In hopes of safekeeping what his father had built over the years, Alan decided to stay in Pierre during the storm.

Agnes stands to about 5’3”, her stature lithe thanks to her weekly tennis since youth. She dresses colourfully most days, sporting dresses, jumpsuits, and outfits coloured in bold patterns and motifs, donning matching sunglasses to boot. One could tell the trait she prizes the most is her hair—Agnes’ bangs always neat and trimmed and her hair donning a silky sheen. These days she dresses in a more subdued manner, clad in muted colours and leaning towards her family’s signature old money/academia style. Behind her sunglasses hides a pair of haggard dark eyes with dark circles. Her skin, normally a vibrant golden medium is pale, but the grin and puzzling mannerisms overshadow traces of something sadder under the surface.

One would describe Agnes to be a whirlwind—she’s never still (except for when she’s nursing a bourbon on a Friday night) and can be overbearing at times. The epitome of hot and cold. Her upbringing and life of constantly rebelling induced a selfish and indecisive streak in her. You could say she hasn’t left the mindset she had during her youth behind, and is a child at heart even til the present time. Agnes’ fickle and neurotic nature costed her many friendships, Agnes often going weeks without contacting people before returning and coming on too strong for most peoples’ liking, her ways of affection intense when it’s towards those dear to her.

History: The Espiritus are a family of old money, their roots tracing back to Pierre’s early mining scene. While their presence in the town shrunk, many of the younger generation leaving for more prominent cities around the States, some remain, the most notably being the family’s patriarch (Agnes’ grandfather) who used to run the Pierre casino. The reigns passed off to Agnes’ little brother who runs the casino from out of town. Agnes moves in with her pet poodle, Mulder, acting in her brother’s stead, her brother not wanting to leave the comforts of California to look after the casino.

Agnes was considered to be the black sheep of the family, not pursuing the family business and graduating in art from Brown University. She was dead-set on keeping to her more free-spirited lifestyle, despite all the disappointment from her family members and fellow peers.

Her estrangement from her family began when she changed her degree under their nose. They originally forced her to study international relations at Brown but she changed to art without telling them. They only found out during her graduation ceremony. In addition to her final act of rebellion to wards them, Agnes also breaks off her life-long engagement to another prominent family’s heir. Her fiancé was too uncomfortably pushy, Agnes’ only memories with him being the nightmares that plague her. Agnes leaves everything behind, her only connection to the Espiritus being her brother Archie, and has lived alone ever since with the exception of her dog.

Her new life in Pierre was a win-win situation for Agnes. She occasionally checks in with the casino’s manager (and receives a cut from her brother), and she gets to paint to her heart’s content. Agnes stays in a studio apartment above a bar along Pierre’s Main Street, not wanting to stay with her grandfather at the Espiritu manor at the edge of town. She picks up a job at a cafe down the street and spends majority of her daytime working there with some off days, her nights either filled with a peaceful drink at the bar or painting the night away, and her weekends with tennis. It’s only when her newfound peaceful life is stirred when her dearest companion Mulder goes missing, and ever since, she hangs missing posters and asks around.
