Ironacre City: Guilty by Association - IC

OOC Thread || Characters

The fictional Ironacre City is the second largest city in the state of New York. The city is one of wealth and power, with businesses able to thrive if they're strong enough to win out in the ruthless and competitive market. Carson Enterprises is currently the most successful and profitable business right now, with the CEO, Mr Carson, being a fine mixture of intelligence, charisma and generosity. It's a great place to live if you're rich, powerful and successful.

The streets, however, are not so lavish and hospitable. The crime rate is at an all-time high, from petty thefts to murders and organised crime. The city's prominent hero sure does have his hands full protecting this city, especially since the emergence of the city's most dangerous, super-powered villain.

For our hero and villain, life isn't just about protecting the city or bringing chaos to it. These people have family, friends and colleagues who they have to shield from their secret life. How do they protect their loved ones from the dangers of their double-life? How is life for their loved ones, living amongst a hero/villain without even realising? Do they suspect anything? Even more concerning... are they at risk?

Ironacre City, NY.
********************
As the people of the city woke for the start of a new week, everything would seem relatively normal. The soon was shining outside and the city was full of life. Those who followed the news would wake to find the local news seemed to be talking a lot about the virus that had started to spread around four weeks ago. Those suffering from Thawn's Virus, named after the first victim, had flu-like symptoms along with some cases of internal bleeding, pneumonia and in some cases death. The new virus had confirmed cases in Asia and Eastern Europe so far. The first Ironacre victim had just been confirmed this morning, so the local press were giving a lot of coverage to the story.

Sebastian had managed to get some sleep that night, but when he woke at 4am he was unable to return to his slumber. He was at least thankful to know the Shadow hadn't shown up for the last few days and that he didn't have new occurrences to feel guilty about this morning. He looked to Seleste for a time, observing his wife as she slept peacefully. He wished he could just live a normal life with his family, one without the darkness of his secrets casting a shadow over him. He crept out of bed so he wouldn't wake her and retrieved some clothes from the wardrobe. He went into the en-suite bathroom to get dressed ready for his day.

Once downstairs, Seb went into the kitchen and began preparing some food ready to cook breakfast for his family once they were awake. He switched on the television that hung above the kitchen worktops and watched the news report about the virus reaching Ironacre City. He hadn't intended for it to reach so close to home so soon. Having created the virus, he already knew what the antidote was, but was to leave his lab team and those of the public health bodies to work together to "discover" it, with his help, of course.

Harvey was always the first awake up in the Daniel Household. His sleep sheduale had been messed up for years, curtesy of the military. And so began his routine at 5AM... Gently rolling out of bed with a groan, careful not to disturb Sylvie, he trudged into the bathroom shutting the door behind him. Showering, he then picked his outfit for the day. Going a little nicer than usual, he picked a denim colored shirt, khaki slacks, mahogany oxfords, and a speckled grey blaizer with elbow patches. Completing the morning routine by fixing his hair and light beard, his steel-blue eyes stared at his reflection. "You can get through today Harvey." It was a matra he'd began after he returned home, just a reminder he in fact, was ok.

Heading quietly downstairs, careful not to wake anyone, he made his way into the kitchen. Grabbing his coffee mug, a cliche mug Junior had got him in the fourth grade that read "My Dad Rocks!" He made his cup of coffee in a rote fashion. Leaving the remainder of the pot for the rest of the family, he made his way into his office.

His favorite room in the house was his office. The walls were a rusty shade of brown, though the entirety of the walls were covered with the front page of newspapers, all in which Harvey had wrote himself. The only wall not covered was the one that had a pair large french windows, currently covered by cream-colored curtains. A record player sat in the far corner of the room, alongside a small bookshelf, which held his personal favorites.
kingsman_the_secret_service_still.jpg

Taking a seat at his desk, he flipped open his laptop, pulling out his phone as he allowed the computer to log in. He plugged a pair of earbuds in, only sticking on in his ear, the other left dangling beside his shoulder, and clicked on his playlist. John Denver began to play immeidantly, allowing him to dive into his emails...

The biggest topic of the day seemed to be Thawn's Diease. Which didn't surprise him, but it did intrigue him. He'd have to talk with Lucy about the subject, though today was a different task. Harvey was shedualed to interview Sebastian Carson, a man of great prowess in Ironclade.

Michael Carson

Michael quietly slipped out of his room in the early morning, feeling his way down the glossy wooden stairs by running his hand along the wall. He had already dressed himself for the day: dark grey sweater with a white collared shirt underneath, and black trousers. A rather conservative choice for an 11-year-old, but Michael liked it just fine. It sort of accented his appearance; thin as a rail, messy waves of dark hair framing his pale face... he looked a bit like a ghost in a way.

Most kids would never be up this early. Even Michael wasn't usually up before 6, but it had been a bit of a rough night. Besides, he knew his father was always up at these ungodly hours.

As soon as his bare feet touched the landing of the stairs, he briskly strode into the kitchen as if he were somehow late. He always walked quickly, with a bit of a stiff gait. Most just saw it as one if his numerous odd mannerisms. Spotting the tall frame of his father fiddling with the television, he ran into the room, climbing up onto the counter and offering a cheery wave.

A small digital alarm clock went of with a mechanical beeping noise, soon met with a dissastisfied groan as Lucy swatted at the machine to silence it. Another day, another paycheck. She thought sleepily, dragging herself off her bed and stumbling into her tiny kitchenette to fix up some coffee. Her shoulder length black hair was still tied up in a loose braid from yesterday, and had come partially undone in her sleep. She'd get ready for the day after she woke up.

She hummed softly as she tapped her nails on the counter, waiting for her precious caffiene to prepare. Editing wasn't a physically strenouous job, but it was quite a workload. So many article drafts and manuscripts to peruse, approve, and send back. If her clients were as ornery as she felt right now, it would be doubly taxing. Another mechanical buzz rang through her ears, but this one was more well recieved. She quickly poured her hot coffee into a large purple mug, added a copious amount of cream, and began to quickly gulp doen her drink. She wasn't late to work yet, but it was good to have some time to get ready.

Already feeling her energy start to seep back in, Lucy went back to her room and pulled out a neat blue dress and a white short-sleeved cardigan, slowly dressing herself and smoothing out the folds of the garments before grabbing a comb and running it through her hair. Glancing in the floor-length mirror by her bed, she smiled brightly. Damn, I look cute today.

Once she was packed and ready to go to the office, Lucy left her little studio apartment and took the stairs all the way down to the ground floor. Luckily the bus stop was right outside, because the stairs were quite a trip. There was something a little off about the city today, she thought, glancing around at the morning crowd. There was an air of tension, everyone hunched over their phones and whispering to themselves. Had something happened? Well, Lucy was sure to here about it at the office. She did work for the news, after all.

Christopher Walker
Christopher could be seen holding a duffle bag in his shoulders as he exited the airport. The plane ride had been long and calm, but now, now it was time to see if he could find Harvey or somehow find a place to stay at. It was a really bad idea of him to come here without communicating with Harvey or someone that he could stay with, but sometimes, he really didn't think through his plans. Sure he had sent a letter addressed to Have but considering that he only heard that he was living here, well, he really want sure if the guy even found it. Mostly be a use he didn't know of the address to his place, just sent it under his name and that's about it. It had gotten some raised eyebrow when he just sent it like that, but who was he to care.

Chris had just decided to hitch a ride on the cab and just take to the nearest cafe, which wasn't that far but considering he didn't know the place, well what could he do. When he had gotten off the cab and pay the fare, he had entered the cafe and ordered himself a cup of black coffee with just one sugar in it. Sure to others they would prefer milk on the coffee but he really didn't like Milk at all, not since he was a kid and not now. He had gone to sit at one of the table, taking out his phone, in order to see if any of his former Marine colleague at least had found where Harvey lived but no luck.

Junior had his father early bird tendencies, waking give or take around the same time as his father. He used to hate this time in the morning, with nothing really to do and unable to go back to sleep he was left to lay in bed wirh his own thought for company. The worst thoughts and paranoia came to him turning him to his dark mood for the rest of the day. Now though, thanks to treatment, this time only brought boredom. Still even after months after receiving treatment for his condition he still feared waking up in this time to a new paranoia and found its absence suspicious and unnerving. He tried to use this time productively by studying or practicing his cooking, sometime though he was just not in the mood.

He heard his father softly sneak out of his room and he though he might as well do the same. Junior sat up on the side of his bed with a sigh and turned the lamp on his bed sight table revealing a couple of bottles of pills. He took his usual dose of each, one was to help ease certain cravings while the other helped with his mood. The former he had to take when the cravings came up to five times, the latter three times. He disliked taking them as they left a bad taste in his mouth. Still they helped at least at the beginning, now he was not sure: He had been healthy for a while now and He was wondering whether he was only taking them out of habit. He would have to ask his doctor at his check up later so today.

With that done, he stood and got dressed into old t-shirt and tracksuit pants he has bed using as pyjamas. After a quick visit to the bathroom, he went downstairs and noted his father was in his office. He apprpigched it and knocked on the door softly before opening it gently. "Morning... If it can be called that yet. Want me to make you something?" He asked casually.

Harvey had doven deep into crafting a email to Lucy. *Hey Lucy, i'm supposed to finish the interview around noon, can I have the afternoon off? Want to spend some time with Slyvie, it's been hectic lately and I want to take her to the new French restaurant in town. I'll write the article tonight afterwards to make up for it!*

A soft knock at the door awoke him from his trance of music and work, to see Junior standing timidly at the door. "No i'm fine, thanks J. Here let me do it." Standing up, he wrenched the earbud out of his ear, and pressed send. He grabbed his mug, and made his way behind his son to the kitchen.

Taking a sip of his coffee, Harvey pulled out one of the pans from under the stove as quietly as he could, setting it on the burner. "So what are your plans today? I'm afraid I actually had to dress up today." He said with a chuckle about his blaizer, as he began to whisk a few eggs together.

Seleste Carson

Seleste's eyes slowly flickered open. She glanced over to her side, noticing the empty space beside her. Through their years together, Seleste had gotten accustomed to her husband's odd sleeping schedule. Rolling over, the woman saw the clock on the nightstand revealed the time, which let her know that Leste herself was up earlier than usual today. The woman had been getting quite peculiar dreams for the past week so she had been waking up quite early. Nevertheless, the woman had to get to the dance studio early today so maybe this wasn't a con.

She sat up, letting out a yawn and stretched her tan arms out. Getting on her feet, she walked towards her closet that consisted of her wardrobe.
Seleste grabbed a few fabrics of clothes and made her way into the en-suite bathroom, showering and getting dressed for the day. When she was finished, Seleste was sporting a peach-creamy lace up v-neck sweater. As for bottoms, the woman was wearing olive green leggings. Leste spritzed her dark waves with water before brushing it.
Before she left the bathroom, Seleste made sure to slip her red string bracelet over her left wrist. Letting out another yawn, the woman started to head downstairs. Her hand on the wooden railing.

The sound of the tv got her attention and she turned her head to see Sebastian and Michael in the kitchen.
Seleste made her way over to the kitchen, "Good morning to my favorite boys." She greeted, a tired but gentle smile on her face. She planted a loving kiss on top of Michael's head. She was surprised to see the little boy up so early.
Her hazel eyes flickered her over the tv, there seemed to be talk about some kind of virus. Listening closely, it looked like the virus was here in Ironacre City. Seleste wondered what kind of virus this was.

Was it deadly?

Sylvie stretched reaching her arm out only to find a cold bed. She sighed, knowing her family majority of them would be awake she rolled to look at the analogue clock only to sigh again seeing the early hour. Rubbing her face before taking a deep breath she pushed herself out of bed. Making her way to the bathroom she began her routine for the day. Once she was finished she dressed in a white and grey striped dress and made her way downstairs.

A soft smile appeared on Sylvie’s face as she watched her husband and son interact. Family meant a lot to her and it was moments like these she at her happiest. “Good morning!” She said walking into the kitchen. “How are my boys this morning,” Sylvie asked in a teasing voice. She moved towards the coffee machine pouring herself a cup.

Lucy Zhang

479445520961d74fe8ef53a97ed1223a--kimiko-glenn-easy-hair.jpg

Lucy had just boarded the bus when her phone alerted her to a new email. One of her regular clients, an amicable journalist by the name of Harvey Daniels, was requesting a day to spend with family. Briefly checking her document of scheduled appointments, she quickly rebooked Harvey's block for the next day and forwarded a reply to his message:

Harvey,
I would be happy to move your appointment back! I'll be expecting the article by tomorrow morning for submission to the Times.
Enjoy your day off!
Lucy

Lucy smiled slightly, glad Harvey was able to spend some time with his family. She'd met his wife once or twice; they seemed like a nice couple. Anyway, Lucy got the feeling that Harvey really needed some time off, and maybe a drink.

Still a few minutes from the office, Lucy took the time to browse the news. Most of the top articles were about a new viral infection going around town: Thawn's Virus. Huh... I guess that's what everyone's worked up about. She intuited, sliding her pjone back in her bag and making a mental note to buy disinfectant wipes for her office and start washing her hands more thoroughly. Viruses were no joke, and apparently this one had already developed a bad strain with several linked fatalities. Trying not to think about how dirty the bus might be, Lucy pulled out some earbuds and played some familiar show tunes while she waited for her stop.

Harvey simpered, his head over the scambled eggs he was cooking, as he heard a pair of distinguishable light footsteps come down the stairs. Looking up from the eggs, he couldn't help but smile at Slyvie, ever since the day he met her he never could figure out how that woman was so beautiful...

Stepping away from the eggs, he snatched his wife's waist by the coffee pot, dipping her as if they were doing the tango. "I'm quite well, how's my beautiful wife this morning?" Giving her a peck on the cheek as he gracefully brought her up, and returned to man the eggs.

Everyone knew they were a good couple, even the kids. But he always thought it was important for the family. His boys knew how to treat a woman, and he had made sure of it. A quick buzz in his pocket took him from his thoughts, and a sly smile spread across his face. "After my interview with Mr. Carson, Syl, I think we can have lunch at that new place you've been dying to go to! I've got the ok to have the rest of the afternoon off, and we'll be home to experiment our ideas." It was a odd thing they did, usually after they ate out, they'd try to recreate the dish, or put their own spin on it. It was a fun activity for the two of them, or for the whole Daniel pack.

Junior shrugged. "As you wish dad, less work for me." He said innjokijg tone ad he followed hismfarher to the kitchen and set down one of the chair. He looked around the kitchen and his stopped at an empty space on a section of the kitchen counter. A memory flooded back of one of his episodes: He had become angry about his mother about somethimg he had thought she did. What he could not remember... She told a crush to stay away from him? Something stupid and impossible like that. He was furious and confronted her about it. Obviously she denied it and they fought. He became so angry st one point, he reached out to the spot on the counter. On, it was a vase gifted to his parents by his grandmother. He took it and through it at his mother actually intending to hurt her. Thankfully she dodged it but the look in her face afterwards.

He looked down guilt and horror filling him up as it did mintures after he had thrown it. He was quite the terror , he thought. The vase incident was only one of many such crimes and still here his parents were like nothing had happened. Did he deserve it? No... why should he after what he had done?He was just a worthless, evil... He forced himself to stop, that thought and triedmthard to erase it from his mind. Taking a few calming long breaths These were the sort of though that had let him down these dark moods in the first place. Though despite his downward spiral averted the thought remained in his mind. Did he deserve it?

He looked around finally again, noticing his mother had arrived and his father just said something he didn't catch. He forced a smile."Morning, mum." He said before falling back to silence his father talked about the rest of the side. "I have interview with my therapist at 3..." He said before trailing off his earlier thought was a nagging foung now at the back of his mind. He signed sadly unsure if he wanted to hear the answer. "I remebered the vase incident... how did ever tske me back after that... All the crap i pulled..." He felt a lump in his throat.

Harvey began to dish up a plate for Junior, not feeling particularly hungry this morning. The rest of the family would come at their own pace, and he figured Sylvie would take care of any extra food items the kids wanted.

Setting the plate by Junior, he noticed his eyes, which were glazed and distant, like glass. Quickly sitting down, he placed a hand on his sons shoulder, as he listened to him. "J... Your my son, there's nothing you could ever do to make me not love you. You could go nuke South Korea, and though I wouldn't be happy, i'd never not love you. It's just a parent thing, hopefully one day you'll experience that unconditional love."

Patting his son's back, he removed his phone and earbuds from his blazer pocket. His children loved music just as much as him, but Junior had the closest taste to him. He set his phone by the eggs and simpered. "Plug those in. I don't want your dwelling over the past, it's not good for you. You can get through the day, I promise."

Sebastian Carson

Sebastian saw his son out of the corner of his eye and turned to watch the boy climb up onto the counter. "Morning, kiddo," he greeted Michael. He smiled at the boy before playfully ruffling his hair. He looked to his soon, gauging that he seemed to be in a cheery mood and he suddenly raised his finger. "Ah-ha. That reminds me..." he trailed off. He briefly left the kitchen to the coat stand in the hallway and retrieved a small paper bag. When he returned into the kitchen, he removed an odd looking object and handed it to Michael. "I was at an antiques fair a couple of days back and kept forgetting to give you this for your collection. I'm told it's a bronze arrowhead and apparently it's super old. Expensive too," he noted. He knew how much his son like to collect little artefacts. "You look after it, yeah?" he encouraged him.

When he heard Seleste's voice, he turned to face her and watched as she kissed Michael's forehead. He noticed his wife's attention was then drawn to the news report on the television and he stepped in front of her, blocking the TV. She didn't need to get weighed down worrying about the virus. "Good morning to my favourite lady," he returned her greeting and placed a kiss on her lips. "Did you sleep well?"

Michael playfully tolerated his parents' affectionate greetings, reaching up to twirl at a strand of his hair after his father ruffled it. Really, his parents and siblings were the only people he seemed to be able to handle physical contact with. Anyone else would have been slapped away in a heartbeat, probably screamed at.

Abruptly, his father remembered something and left the room. Michael sat in bewilderment for a bit, half tempted to follow after him. He wasn't really sure if he was supposed to, or what was going on, but luckily he didn't have much time to dwell on it before his father returned with a bag, from which the man retrieved an old, crooked bronze arrowhead. Michael's dark brown eyes lit up with excitement as soon as he saw the small metal object, holding out his hands in anticipation. He traced his fingers along the outline, shifting the object in his hand. A triangular biblade with two long barbs, weathered with age. It instantly reminded him of the time the whole family went to the Metropolitan in New York City a few years back. There were late bronze age weapons just like these. "1000 to 500 B.C..." he said to himself, echoing what he remembered from the plaque in the exhibit. Michael never really spoke to communicate, but he did know how to talk in the most basic sense. It just barely ever occured to him to do so, or maybe it was just too difficult for him.

He looked back up at his father with a grateful smile, still cradling the arrowhead in his palm. He'd add it to his collection later, but for now he was too entranced by it to out it down. How something like this ended up at an antique store, one could only speculate.

Michael had begun to notice the sounds of the television program, but kept his back to the machine. Michael had no reason to believe that the outside world had any effect on him or his family, and the bright lights and colors bothered him, anyway. He just kept his eyes on his new gift, still perched on the countertop, swinging his legs and rocking back and forth a bit.

Oscar had been out jogging for nearly an hour when he finally returned home. Still in the hallway, he crouched down to remove his footwear. He heard his father speaking in the kitchen and overheard him mention he was going to be interviewing Sebastian Carson. Oscar turned his nose up at the thought. Whenever he saw or heard anything about the man, it irritated him. Sure, he gave money to charity and that had to be admired. But when a man had more bathrooms than family members and more cars than toes, he could probably do a lot more for charity. He supposed it wasn't even personal to Carson. Oscar just didn't like big-shot businessmen, politicians and the rest.

When he entered the kitchen, he heard his father giving Junior an encouraging talk. He smiled and nodded to the two males, not wanting to interrupt the moment. He then looked to his mother and gave her a hug. "Good morning," he greeted her. He then walked over to the sink so he could refill his sports bottle with water. In the back of his mind, he was hoping nothing bad had happened to upset Junior.

Junior smiled at his father's words though he found himself unsure how to take them. On one hand there was some of the intended comfort in saying the were always going to be family. However another stronger side wondered if he father pretty much said were together because we are stuck with each other by blood and duty. The confusion made him feel worse though he tried not to show it." Thanks." He said taking one of the ear buds and putting it in his ear and tried to enjoy the music.

"I didn't realise they released a new song."He commented trying to change the subject and began to eat as he felt his stomach growl. "Sesh it must have been a while since I kept up with music. " He chuckled before seeing Oscar enter. "Morning to you too."He said casually, not helping himself feel a twitch of jealousy at his near perfect older brother. The true love of his pare... Once more he stopped himself from letting such thoughs to go any further."Been on your run? I can smell it on you." He said in a half hearted and on hindsight bad attempt at banter.

The woman noticed that her son what looked to be another antique. The beauty loved that her son seemed to have a fondness for things of the past.

Seleste only managed to get a couple second in of the news report before Sebastian stepped in front of her, blocking her view of the television, which caused her to furrow her brow. The woman wanted to know more about this virus, she didn't want any of the kids to catch it if it was dangerous.
Still, Sebastian distracted her as he greeted her and gave her a kiss. Seleste gave him a gentle kiss back.
She ran her fingers through her ebony waves, "It was..good enough." Leste answered with a cheeky grin. It certainly wasn't the most peaceful night of sleep. Her em, time of the month had returned the previous day and it's safe to say that she wasn't the most calm sleeper.
"So what's for breakfast today?" Seleste questioned, noticing the food cooking on the stove.

Sylvie smiled, “sounds like fun, I have an appointment around ten, with this cute little puppy. But that should only take an hour.” She moved to rub Junior on the back seeing his solemn look. She found hearing he was still upset over the event that happened. She had practically forgiven him the second he apologized. She nodded in agreement as he husband spoke. She pulled him in softly for a quick hug.

Moving over to sit next to her son she to a sip of coffee as the two bonded over music. She jumped slightly not noticing her other son, Oscar was there. “Morning sweetie.” She said with a large smile as she looked towards her eldest son. “Are you hungry?” Sylvie asked him already up and making her way to the stove.

Dani groaned as she tried to brush the knot out of her hair. This would be the last time she tried to do DIY hairstyle. She made a mental note to ask her mother to schedule her a hairdressers appointment later on. Finally finished she cringed a bit, her hair looked like a mess. Figuring there was nothing she could do at the moment she continued getting ready for the day.

Making her way into the kitchen she gave a small smile in greeting. “Hey, mom can you help me real quick.” She asked trying to get her mom's attention. “I messed my hair up pretty bad.” She said with a frown feeling slightly embarrassed.

Harvey tapped Junior's shoulder gently as he turned away, leaving his worrisome son alone. Moving around Oscar, he made his way to the sink to rinse his mug. It was getting closer for him to leave, though not for the interview. "Yeah they did! Pretty good huh?"

Tapping his eldest son's shoulders lightly, he titled his head towards Junior, while he was focused on his eggs. It was their silent code; Oscar needed to monitor his younger brother today, just in case he had a episode. Nodding gratefully to Oscar, he clasped his shoulder and made his way to Sylvie.

"I've got to head out a little early today. Get a few things taken care of before the interview, but after that... We'll you'll find out." Giving her a peck on the cheek, his groomed beard soft to the touch. Grabbing his leather messenger bag off of the counter tup, which held his laptop and other work items, he made his way out the door.

Once outside, he quickly ducked towards the small bush outside his office window. There sat a similar leather bag, though it hold the nessicary items for Limelight. Grabbing it by its handle, he made his way to his silver Mercedes, setting both bags in the passenger seat as he pulled out onto the slightly busy street.

Charlie had been pulled from her 7:00 AM forensic classes early. The station had called her with a new case for her to photograph. Now she was on her way to the station listening to the radio as the host talked about a new virus, warning citizens to watch out for certain flu like symptom. Turning down the knob, she couldn't listen to anything negative at the moment, not when she was about to take pictures of a dead body and a crime scene. Parking in the back of the building, she grabbed her camera kit and lab sample kit before heading towards the entrance of the building, which had been blocked off to the general public for the police and forensic team to properly investigate. "Hey Tom," Charlie said tipping her head at the elderly police officer, he was only a year away from retirement.

"Ahh Charlie, good to see you again." He said and returned the nod. "Wish it was under different circumstances Tom." Charlie said before walking through the entrance and up the stairs towards the apartment complex under investigation. The place was an absolute mess, blood was everywhere. However, this scene didn't seem to take her breath away like the first time she had seen another human's blood dripping from the wall like paint. There was nothing that could compare to that first time. Charlie to work quickly taking photographs of the scene and extracting samples for the lab carefully.

Once she had removed all the gear and was on her way out, she checked the time before sighing. She had promised to be over at the house for breakfast this morning. Her phone read 8:30am and she knew she would have to be quick if she wanted to catch everyone before they went their separate ways. Getting in the car, she pulled out into traffic and headed towards her parents house. A short car ride later she was standing at the front door.

Not bothering to knock , she opened the door and let herself inside. "Hello?" She called out and closed the door behind her, walking towards the kitchen hearing voices coming from there.

Christopher had already ordered 3 cups of black coffee, while still looking at his phone. It wasn't until a few moment later that Chris had decided to walk outside, before walking over to a news stand close by. It had been a long time since he had last read the newspaper, deciding to buy one, just to see if there was anything interesting on it. He had to raise an eyebrow when he read about some virus going around here. "Interesting." It was actually the first he had heard of the virus. He had asked the man who sold newspaper about it, but the man had just been vague on the answers. Just saying everything that was said on the news or newspaper.

When Christopher had finished reading the newspaper, he had put it on his bag before calling for a cab to stop by. He eventually ordered the cab driver to drive to Ironacre Times, a place that his colleague had told him to go to just in case he wanted to apply for a job there. Sure he had a lot of money from his time at the marines, but he just didn't feel like slacking off.

It usually took about 15 minutes to get to work, give or take with traffic, but today he was there in 17 minutes. Harvey was early, and planned to leave relatively soon to do a little bit of scouting. But as he sauntered into the lobby, adjusting his messenger bag on his shoulder, he spotted a distinguable face.

"Chris?" Harvey's silvery eyes lit in astonishment, having not seen his best friend in a good while. "What are you doing here? Gosh I wish you called, I could've planned something..." Gesturing for Christopher to follow him, the two stepped into a available elevator.

"You should've called Chris. Lucky for you I don't havw any plans till eleven, so if you'd like to grab a cup of coffee i'm all game?" He could do his scouting while he entertained Chris, it wouldn't be difficult, he'd just have to make mental notes.

The bus pulled up to the front of the tall, imposing headquarters a little after 8:30. Lucy hurried off the bus, thanking the driver before pushing her way through the glass doors and walking to the stairs. Even though her office was on the 10th floor, she preferred to walk rather than take the elevator, especially after hearing about that virus going around. One person sneezes in an elevator, she thought, and the whole goddamn office is infected. Lucy wasn't a germaphobe, really, but she hated being sick just as much as anyone else.

"Hey, Steve!" She greeted her supervisor as she walked past his desk. "Did you get that fancy pen back?"

Steve, a wizened older man with a shock of white hair, peered up over the top of his computer. "Still lookin'." He replied sullenly, sounding almost disheartened by the question. "I bet that new intern snagged it on her way out last night. You know, I said from the beginning she looked like a--"

"--Crazy crack harlot, I know." Lucy laughed, trying to hurry the conversation. "I'm sure you can talk to her about it when she comes in for her shift. I've got my first appointment at noon, so I have to scram." Lucy looked down at her watch, and offered a smiling wave before continuing to the little room she called her office.

It was a bit cramped, what with her desk, two comfortable armchairs for her clients, and a few colorful posters she'd been allowed to hang up. Her desk was littered in files and office supplies she never really touched. She pulled open her laptop, dusting off the screen to check her bookings. Hopefully she'd manage to find something interesting to do today. Office jobs weren't a fun experience for her, but they had their amusing moments.

MADELINE DANIELS
latest
The sun was slowly rising over the Daniels' family home, despite nearing the end of September the sun rays filled the streets like a summer day. A distinct sound of birds chirping could be heard through the window of the only daughter to Mr and Mrs Daniels. It may sound like the stereotypical morning in a movie; but this was no movie. Madeline let out a muffled groan into her pillow. Sunlight was flooding through her curtains where she hadn't closed them properly the night before. It happened to shine right on her face making it almost impossible to open her eyes. Shoving her head into her pillow she tried to drift back to sleep, and she would've if there weren't two birds singing outside. Who even has the energy for that first thing in the morning? Defeated Madeline hauled herself up to a seated position before swinging her legs out of her blankets to stand up.

Figuring it was too early to get changed for the day Madeline yanked a hairbrush through her hair until it was just about presentable and slipped her feet into a pair of slippers. She left her bedroom to walk towards the scent of food. Rubbing her half-closed eyes Madeline padded into the kitchen, as she did so the front door slammed. Seeing her older brothers and her mother in the room Maddie assumed it was her father leaving for work, she was vaguely discouraged she didn't get to say goodbye but that was hidden behind a sleepy smile. "
Mornin' everyone." She mumbled before lifting herself onto a chair next to Junior. It was completely beyond her how everyone looked so awake when she still felt half asleep. Oscar had even been for his morning jog. With a shallow sigh she rested her head on her hand, her eyes drifting over to her mother standing by the stove. "What's for breakfast?"
