IRL calls me, nerds [family emergency]

For my friends and other users who might not know yet or don't have all the details, my dad was admitted to the hospital last night for dangerous levels of fluid retention. He has congestive heart failure.


This is not terminal. It just means his heart is weak, and he's been suffering chronic congestion due to an inability to purge fluids. He will probably be discharged Sunday, maybe Monday or Tuesday.


Naturally, there will be several hours where I'm not online because I'm either taking care of the house and cats, or visiting my dad in the hospital. And, when he comes back home, I will still be very busy taking care of him, although we'll probably hire a caretaker on a permanent basis to pop in once a week and check on things.


It's very tiring and nerve-wracking for me and my mother, but it's not the end of the world or anything. I'll still be around to continue assisting users and other mod duties (so don't think you can get away with any monkey business >c I'll whip you back into shape! Crack!) and I'll continue with all my roleplays. I just won't be joining anything new for a while.

Another note - if you want to send anyone well wishes and good vibes, I'd like you to keep my friend April in mind. She's in surgery today, getting a kidney removed after a large tumor was found growing from it.

Alright! I've emailed my professors. I didn't ask for an extension (I missed an assignment yesterday) but I did let them know what's up and ask them to be patient with me while I catch up on schoolwork. I'm taking three classes over the summer, which is a condensed eight-week session: English 100, Health 100, and Interactive Design 212, which is actually an introductory Javascript class.

Another update: My dad will be in there at least through Monday, because that's when he's getting a CT scan of his heart.

Another update.


After a week in the hospital, my dad has graduated to less intensive care. He's now in an older, smaller section of the hospital and needs to be poked and prodded less often. I'm pretty sure he's lost about 20 pounds of fluid weight, hot damn. He'll probably be in there another week, but things are going well. All the waitresses at his favorite restaurant miss him, the flirt.


I've been around the site much more now, and doing some mod stuff. I should have all my roleplays back in full swing in another week.
