Introduction

I'm currently in the process of writing a book, but I'm a bit lost on what I'm allowed to do with the introduction. Since my intro starts with a flash back would it be literally correct, if I go to seventh-grade then flash-forward to the tenth-grade? (While in the introduction)


Does any intro have to be relatively long could I only talk about his seventh-grade experience, then move to the eighth-grade?

You are allowed to do whatever you want when writing a book. The trick for switching times is to find a way to transfer smoothly. Think of it through the reader's point of view. What would keep them interested while also allowing you to transfer.
