* personalitywhile shane has been considered rather comical and welcoming to those closest to her, she had the tendency to give an untrue first impression to strangers, the type of perception that paints her as introverted and quiet. she didn't mind spending time alone but preferred socializing and surrounding herself with her friends. when alone shane enjoyed visiting either locally-owned coffee shops or the campus library. she liked to spend time inside them writing. unfortunately, she didn't spend as much time doing this as she wished. on the opposing side of things, when shane was with her friends, she became vibrant, loud, and... most importantly, funny. aside from the fact that most people are drawn to - not to mention they adore - funny people, shane's friends found her funny enough to encourage her to try stand-up comedy.
shane became a different person when she was on stage. it was as though she was drugged up on confidence as soon as her hand touched the microphone. the adrenaline rush she felt from being on a stage, no matter how large or small the crowd before her was, was unmatched. she would go as far as to describe it as tantalizing...a feeling she constantly chased after in her day-to-day life when she wasn't performing. she supposed she was good at comedy because of all the traumas she had endured in her life, especially as a child. her own ability to turn her dark, fucked-up recollections of the past into a bittersweet form comedy meant a lot to her. her comedy extended outside of a ten, fifteen, even half an hour-long set.
anxiety was a problem for shane. riddled with OCD and high-functioning anxiety, every day was a loop of obsessive and compulsive thoughts that she internalized. the fear of accidentally unmasking too much of herself and scaring the people she cared most about kept her from expressing her anxieties and fears. she worried sometimes that her thoughts were bigger than her body, and that she could manifest her thoughts into actions. her nervousness was an issue she was continually trying to escape. forming bad habits too quickly was another problem for her, hence why she smoked both cigarettes and marjiuana.

* historyborn isabella dolores dominiguez, shane decided to change her first name as a way of finally separating from her past. she was born to a white mother, christine, and immigrant father from mexico, manuel. her father was deported back to mexico soon after shane's second birthday and without stable income, her mother couldn't afford to parent shane or her two older siblings, valentina and luis, propelling the three of them into both separation and the united states' messy foster care system, destroyed by systemic issues within an innately corrupt country. isabella couldn't bring herself to speak of some of the abuse she endured in her youth, thus she often completely disregarded it, aside from using it as ammunition for a punchline in her comedy of course. she couldn't bear to carry that trauma with her each and every day. though, she couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to rekindle with her brother and sister; she hated having to watch them live their lives from afar.
life had been rough, but shane always tried her hardest in school. with her grades and situation, many scholarship opportunities began popping up for endless universities. she could have ended up anywhere in the country if she so wished, not many students her age could say the same. she wasn't entirely certain how she came to the decision she did, but she knew it had to have been somewhat influenced by the university's literature program, as this was her desired area of study. literature and literacy were two subjects she was passionate about.
she quickly made friends at her university. within the first week, she had signed up for half a dozen clubs, but only one stuck - the paranormal circle. shane was deeply enthused by the paranormal; she would go as far as to say it inspired her. in this club she met some great people and some people who would later turn on her and become her enemies. even someone who she had to file a restraining order on. while these young adult problems weren't nearly as terrible as what she had endured in the past, shane often felt as though the world was crumbling around her due to her anxiety, so day-to-day life was difficult. she hoped someday her panic would cease to exist.
