Into Eternity

Syrrus

Wishful bard
The sun was standing high. It's hot beams of light was filtering through the tall trees in the garden after what he imagined had been a lot of whining on his mother's part, a lot of threatening and whimpering, Odin had agreed on letting Loki leave his cell from time to time, with the watch of two guards that always had to stand within ten feet distance. He always had to wear chains too, to stop him from using his magic.

Odin had even tried to make it so that his so called son had to wear the mark covering his mouth, stopping him from spreading his poisoned lies. However, he hadn't succeeded on that part which was why Loki now sat in the garden underneath the tall three, looking to his left at the realm which he craved to force upon its knees. The God of Mischief said nothing, he never did unless someone forced him to join in on a conversation which happened a lot less than one would think. No one wanted to talk with the crazed wannabe God who had almost destroyed Midgard. Except that half crazed wannabe God's so called mother but she wasn't always able to talk to what she implied was her favorite son.

Loki didn't believe her.

Jayci had been one of the guards assigned to watch Loki on both his outings and while he was in his cell. Being one of the few female guards in Asgard, she received a few...rude comments on her new position, though she dismissed these quickly.

Keeping a hand tight on the hilt of her sword, Jayci lifted her hand to shield her eyes from the sun, "Loki. Your time is almost up. We should be getting back." The woman took a step forward towards the prisoner. She tended to keep her distance from the man, allowing her partner to chain him and lead him back to his cell. There was something that threw her off, not just the fact that Loki tried to destroy Midgard. Something about the raven-haired god made her head spin, and Jayci didn't care for it. Looking back at her partner guard, she nodded shortly to him and he walked forward, holding a longer chain, the one that allowed them to lead Loki back to his cell.

A sigh escaped Loki, a heavy and rather frustrated sigh. What had he done to deserve this? Midgard had been their playground for millennia, why was his time spent so different. He narrowed his eyes, peering at the guard who walked towards him and got up, placing his hands on his back, grinning slightly but only slightly, just like he always did. "I believe I can walk on my own, thank you." He said with that voice of his, filled with what Odin would call poison. It was simply the way Loki spoke. He then started walking towards the prison on his own. Hiding it pretty well, the fact that he was a bit disappointed that no one had come to greet him.

Ignorant fools.

He was burned with glorious purpose. He was great in every single detail. He was a god, they all were in comparison to the mortals at what they called 'Earth'. Disgusting word for a disgusting realm, why not just call it dirt and get on with it?! Loki hated Midgard, he hated it because it loved his brother, just like Asgard. Something inside of the man made him wonder as to why he was so disliked, hate even by so many people. How different from Thor was he, truly? Sure, he had done some drastic choices but it was all for the greater good. He had no other choice. It was the only way to step out of Thor's shadow.

Slowly he walked, not paying the gods any attention, with his hands on his back, gripping his wrists tightly.

Jayci let out a slight frustrated sigh and hurried after the god, brushing past lower guards as she did. To be quite honest, the guard actually felt kind of sorry for Loki. Kind of. Cast away by his own father, hated by his own people, Jayci felt wronged keeping him locked up. Though she had to keep reminding herself that he was dangerous and she was doing the universe a favour by keeping this man locked away.

She didn't know how to feel at this point.

Jumping down the steps into the prison, Jayci grabbed Loki by his forearm and led him to his cell, shoving him in a bit roughly. It seemed that she was angry with him, though she was more so angry with herself. Locking him in, she returned to her post at the front left corner of his cell, promptly ignoring anything he decided to say to her.

Getting thrown into his new home, which was very well furnished indeed, Loki stumbled to try and find his feet. When he finally managed he cast a glance towards the female guard and only said one thing. "Feisty." Loud enough for her to hear it, he then proceeded with what he usually did to spend his time, sit on one of the very comfortable chairs given to him by his mother and read a book, which ever that had recently been brought down there.

He doubted Odin cared much for him anymore, seeing as the stubborn ruler hadn't even laid and eye - hah, as if he could do more - upon him since he had cast him away into this prison. The place wasn't so bad and Loki knew for a fact that he was not to be there forever, in fact he would soon - at some point - be free to do his evil bidding. Evil, hah, even that was a joke. Loki wasn't evil. He was justice, rightfulness and cruelty, everything a King had to be.

Gritting her teeth at his comment, Jayci twisted her wrists behind her back, keeping herself from saying anything back. Giving a few nods to passing guards, she managed a glance back at Loki, "I could request another book from your mother if you require it, Loki." Her tone was flat, her eyes staring at something in the far corner of the hall. Truth be told, Jayci enjoyed visiting his mother, since it was where she was posted before getting sent to look after the brat child. Frigga had taken time out of her day to talk to her guards and ask them about their day and Jayci never understood how such an arrogant man could've been raised by such a wonderful woman. Shaking herself out of her thoughts, the guard returned her attention to Loki.

Loki who was already absorbed by the book he was currently holding didn't respond at first. He was a prisoner, he had no obligations to speak to the guards keeping him that way, it wasn't politeness but it was common sense.

Flicking the page and leaning back against the back of the char he peered up over the yellowed page directly at the guard with his green eyes. "I don't think that is necessary, besides... that's not what you want to do, is it?" The God of mischief licked the top of his finger and turned the page slowly, looking back down at the words written before him. "You rather to be in here with me."

His comment caused her to tense up, the color flushing from her face. "I do not understand what you mean by that." Jayci managed to keep her voice flat and steady, turning fully to face him in his cell. Something the woman didn't like to admit was that Loki truly terrified her, what he was capable of, was horrifying.

Loki simply continued to pay his book all his attention, he would, from time to time look up and peer at her and then avert his gaze back down upon the book. The longer the pause, the more the words he would use next would weigh and such small details matter a lot in the grand scheme of things. There was a reason why even Frigga would admit that her favorite son had a poisonous tongue but as it truly poison that he knew how to use it well?

"Come now." He said calmly as he turned to page forty, acting as if he read the words off of the book. "You are an intelligent woman, you can figure it out for yourself, I am sure."

Jayci took a few step to the left, into to the light, as if to get a better look at the man. "You think your deceiving words work on me, Loki, but you are wrong." She tilted her head to the side, allowing her right hand to slip down onto the hilt of her sword, making sure he saw. She began to pace back and forth in front of his cell, only to keep herself from continuously twitching. She avoided his eyes as well, taking refuge in looking at the book he was reading.

Loki simply put down his book, placed it open over his lap as he watched with the calmest eyes he could muster. Tilting his head slightly as he spoke, almost as if hindering himself from making the motion to shake his head. "Why would I deceive you? I only betray the people I love and care for." He then made a laughing noise and smiled, the typical playful smile Loki was so famous for. He found her motion towards the sword nothing but repulsive. She couldn't hurt him, she'd be dead shortly after and not even by his own hand. If Frigga had managed to hinder Odin from cutting his head off the day he had been brought back, she probably would manage something else to the person who harmed him.

He was trapped, yes but safe.

The guard held back a laugh, "You? You love and care for people?" She chuckled, "You are an arrogant, selfish man." Jayci rolled her eyes slightly and turned away from him, dropping her hand from her sword and crossing them in front of her chest. "Now I understand why everyone likes Thor better." She scoffed, frowning gently, and leaned forward, checking to see when the next guard was coming so she would be free to leave her post.

His eye twitched but other than that nothing else would seem to happen and he simply closed his book as loudly as one can, staring in front of him before looking over at the guards woman again, smiling at her. "Mhm. I can see exactly why you are down here and not up on the surface. Beautiful perhaps but you don't seem to be able to keep that pretty mouth of your in check. Not a very good image for the empire of Odin, now is it?" He got out of his seat and placed the book back in its bookshelf. He could mouth off to low standing guards all day, it was the only exciting thing that went on down there, after all.

Jayci managed to keep her voice calm as she turned to look at the god again. "What are you trying to do, Loki? The other guards do not have this much trouble with you." She raised an eyebrow, shifting her weight onto her left leg. "You rarely talk to anyone. What's changed?" She was genuinely curious, as she had never seen him talk this much before.

"I thought you started this conversation by asking me if I needed more books." Loki turned and folded his arms over his chest. "I simply stated something you've been thinking for the past two weeks." He began to grin slightly. "And I suppose that's why you're upset that I'm not more like Thor." Of course, Loki didn't expect that she was interested in her brother, they were far too different, him and Thor. He simply made what mortals would call an inside joke and he doubted she would understand what he was implying.

"I didn't "start" anything. I was asking a simple question. You're the one who kept it going." Jayci almost growled, mostly angry at herself for letting this man get to her like this. "And besides. How would you know what I've been thinking for the past two weeks? You're unable to use your powers in that cell." She changed her tone to go with her more genuine question, the apples of her cheeks flaring up a bit red.

"I'm not a mind reader, guardswoman." He said, simply and plainly. "Who in the world put that little idea in your head?" It wasn't really a question, it was more a way for the God of Mischief to show how silly it sounded to believe that he could simply snap his fingers and know it all. "Neither do I have the ability to control your mind." He gestured with his hands, looking around him. "I lost my spear to I don't know where." Loki smirked again, raising a tin eyebrow clearly amused. "I simply made a guess and seeing your reaction I think I hit a good one."

Loki sat back down upon his seat, pulling one leg over the other and simply studied the guard with his eyes waiting for nothing in particular.

"Why do you have to be so frustrating..." Jayci said under a sigh. Catching herself almost beginning to admire the God's build, the guard quickly turned around as she cleared her throat. Then she began to tell herself just to ignore anything he continued to say, refuse to answer any questions, just as she was told, more like ordered, by Odin when he found out she was being posted down here.

"I am not doing it on purpose." Loki said as he leaned back to lay down. He started to play with a round and green bouncy ball which he tossed towards the wall and then caught as it came back, he continued to do this while waiting. What was he waiting for? It was hard to actually tell. Either everything he had said to the guard mattered or they didn't matter at all and he was just playing with her. This was one of the reasons as to why Odin warned anyone who had to spend a lot of time around Loki to never listen or join in on a conversation with him. He could worm himself into one's head, the All Father had said, and lay egg of misstrust in the back of your brain. Disgusting? Yes, but the idea of his mischief often were.

Just as Jayci was about to reply, another guard walked up to her, whispering something into her ear. "What? He just went though.." She whispered in return, "Odin demands?" She let out a groan and nodded, sending the guard off. "Your father seems to believe that you need another outing." Jayci said, walking to the door of his cell and opening it slowly. "Come." She muttered.

"Yes ma'am." He said with his nonchalant voice and that strange smile of hers. He got out of his seat and slowly walked forward and down the tiny stairway. This was strange, perhaps the All Father had finally snapped and gone insane? Loki sure hopped so. He peered over at the guardswoman with the same smirk still planted upon his face, he was good at looking smug even as a prisoner it seemed. "I hope you are going to pay this much attention to me in the future, I so adore your company."

"Shut up." Jayci grumbled, shoving him forward a bit. "Damn.." She said, disappearing around the corner for a moment to retrieve his cuffs, forgetting about them almost entirely. "Where are they...?" The woman peered around the small dim room for a few moments, her hand unconsciously going to the handle of her sword, in case Loki tried anything while uncuffed.

While she wasn't looking he quickly decided to play a little prank with her and changed his shape and form in a blink of an eye. He now looked and sounded like one of the male guards and seeing what a good actor he could pretend to be he even managed to sound winded and angry. "What are you doing?! Where's the prisoner?!" He wasn't actually going to plan on escaping, he had no purpose of doing so, not right now anyhow. It was important to make Odin believe that he had Loki where he wanted him. Even if he actually had just the same amount of control as he did before.
