" I changed it just now. " he tells her honestly. "You are the first person to tell me not to." He smiles a bit and leans back.

Alice reaches over his arm and squeezes his hand. "I'm glad," she mutters, looking up at her ceiling fan. Glancing over at his face for a moment, she sits up a little straighter and asks, "Feel better now that you've got some sleep?"

He thinks hard for a moment before nodding slowly. "I do feel a bit better. My head hurts less and my back doesn't ache. " He smiles "I feel good today though it could just be that I woke up to you." Lacey shrugs.

She groans and rests her forehead against her knee. "I'm sure that was a brilliant experience," she says, her voice muffled and thick with sarcasm. Running a hand through her hair, she turned toward him and returned the smile. "I'm glad you feel better though. You look like you feel better."

" I have never seen such a pretty picture in the morning...drool and all." He laughs and nudges her "I did think your hair was a wild animal at first. I won't lie I nearly poked it with a stick."

"I do not drool," she objected, crossing her arms and pouting. She couldn't argue about the hair, though. Her cheeks slowly turning red, she buried her face in her hands.

Lacey smiles and kisses the back of her neck. "Don't worry. It was a very adorable wild animal." Laughter fills his voice, making his works shake as he tries holding it in.

She stiffens when he kisses her neck, still hiding her face. "Ugh," she groans, hearing him trying to hide his laughter. At least he was amused.

He pats her back and smiles, working on assuring her that no her hair didn't look that bad. "You looked better than me at any rate."

"I doubt that," she muttered, finally looking up and ruffling his damp hair. "But you're sweet," she smiled, shaking her head and flicking his ear. "Even when you're teasing me."

"I don't know how but thank you." Lacey moves away and yawns, stretching his legs and humming. "I'm..exhausted. maybe I shouldn't have run so much."

"Take a nap," she suggested, mentioning toward the bed. The highway must've been miles away, she had no idea how he'd ran that entire way... and back.

Yawning he nods, "That sounds like a great idea." Lacey smiles and falls back on the bed, staring at the celing.

Alice hummed softly to herself and began reading her book again, silence falling in the room. Hopefully he'd sleep for a long time; he would need it for the days ahead.

Lacey wakes up quickly, sitting up and breathing rapidly. There is a look of fear written across his face and he curls into himself for a moment before relaxing on his own. "Always there." he mumbles softly.

Alice stands and scoots onto the bed, sitting next to him. Remaining silent, she brushes his hair out of his eyes and sighs. "What's always there?" She finally asks, her tone equally soft and worried.

"In the dark, it's always there. Just waiting." he sighs deeply and rubs his eyes, trying to fully wake up. " You know, I'm not so sure why you like me so much...I'm a walking mental asylum."

Frowning, she taps his collarbone as he struggles to wake up completely. "I'm not exactly all there mentally either," she pointed out. "Besides, there's tons to like about you. You're brutally honest, which is my favorite part. You're brave, and you aren't ever boring. It doesn't hurt that you're so handsome," she teases, ruffling his hair. "Of course I like you."
