Fantasy Insanity (PLEASE JOIN)

She pouted but pulled off her cover-up, throwing it over her shoulder and jumping in the water excitedly. A long minute later she came to the surface. "You d-didn't tell me it was this c-cold," she stuttered. The water was pretty deep, or maybe she was just short. Swimming over to where he was sitting on the edge, she rested her chin on the edge of the pool and sighed. "Do you think you'll talk to your mom after you get out of here?" She asked randomly, her tone thoughtful.

He moves his feet slowly in the water, enjoying the cool liquid. "I..she wants to visit..." he tells her softly, keeping his eyes on the water, the glow turning his eyes pale blue, "I don't really know if I'm happy or angry about that." Lacey takes a deep breath and shrugs out of his jacket, revealing his red shirt and tosses his hat ontop of it, "She left me, I was only 10 and she just left like I was a dog or something. No contact, not one phone call, or post card for seven years. " he looks at her looking utterly confused and off balance for once, "Why now? What changed? I'm no different than I was then."

Alice chewed on the inside of her cheek for a moment as she processed that, taking her time coming up with an answer. She finally sighed, shaking her head. "I don't know," she admitted, "But how can she not want to see you, even if she waited so long to decide? You're the best, remember?" She tapped his knee, smiling lightly before becoming more serious. "I won't care what you decide as long as you're alright."

He stares at her for several minutes, his eyes far away as his mind goes deep into though. It takes him a bit before he nods and blurts out the first thing that comes to his mind, "I feel I must inform you that I have just developed a crush on you Alice. It will not effect our interaction I promise." he nods again satisfied and suddenly drops into the pool, vanishing under and swimming quickly around the pool. She will never know, but he hasn't been swimming since his mother left.

She blinked in surprise at his bold statement, pale face turning a bit red. He swam and she watched him with an arched eyebrow, her eyes the same color as the clean blue water. "Oh, really? But what if I want it to effect our interactions?" She asked casually, stretching her arms out in front of her in the water.

He stops and pops his head fully out of the water, "Unless of course you want it to." he affrimed before ducking back under and examining the bottom of the pool.

She laughed and propped herself out of the pool, sitting on the edge now as he had been before. It was very dark but her eyes were well adjusted, so she watched him swim. He stayed under so long she was almost afraid, but he always came up for air eventually. "So you can see in the dark and breathe underwater," she said in a monotone, shaking her head in disbelief.

He slowly doggy paddles closer and nods, "I can also jump really long distances, do a cartwheel, and makes awesome waffles." he says it with just as little emotion as she does, smiling a bit.

Alice nodded seriously and leaned toward him a bit as he swam closer, looking as if she were going to confide a secret in him. "I can set things on fire," she offered nonchalantly, shrugging and crossing her arms over her bare stomach. "It's something of a talent. My parents are really proud of me."

He looks amused and comes to rest his arms on the edge of the pool beside her, "I can imagine, it's an exotic talent. Priceless really if you think about it. How could they not be proud. " he pats her leg, "The world is a better place because of people like you Alice."

She shrugged again modestly, turning her eyes away as if she were suddenly shy. "I guess it's okay," she said softly, "But it's really nothing compared to waffle-making." A small smirk came over her face and she pokes him in the rib, almost falling back into the pool before correcting her balance. "Awesome waffles especially."

"They are fantastic, or so I've been told, downright miraculous." he grins and grabs her arm before pushing back and dragging her in after him, making sure she has time to know what is happening before the water closes over her head.

Alice luckily caught her breath before she was pulled under, coming up a few moments latter sputtering "Y-you j-jerk," too cold to insult him further. She shivered dramatically and rubbed her arms frantically, trying to get warmth from friction. "I'll g-get you back," she assured him, a mischievous smile on her face.

"Sure you will." he sticks his tongue out at her and swims away, laughing loudly and happily, "It's not that cold, drama queen." Lacey splashes her and when he makes it to the other side of the pool he grins at her.

She pouts pitifully, then huffs in mock superiority and lifts herself out of the pool again. "You just wait, Lacey," she says slowly and confidently. "One day when you least expect it..." She trailed off darkly, narrowing her eyes at him. "The only reason you're over there is 'cause you're scared," she continued, trying not to laugh.

"Oh really?" he asks moving back to the middle of the pool and standing, the water just at his shoulder, "Scared? Of a little girl like you? Please." he mocks her playfully, walking to the edge of the pool and pulling himself up and out of the pool.

She stands and pulls her cover-up over her head, then sitting and pulling on her shoes carefully. "Yeah, you're right. Scared is too mild of a word... you're terrified." She practically was radiating false smugness, double and then triple-knotting her shoes. "But I put up with you despite that because you do have certain charms that I admire and I kinda need you and your echolocation to find my way out of here."

He grabs his shirt and jacket, slipping them on, the water making them damp, "Of course you do, where would you be without me?" Lacey pulls on his boots, not bothering to tie them as he shakes out his hat and pulls it on, coving his dark wet hair, "You would be lost, lost in the darkness without me." he pauses for a moment moving closer, "what happened to the other guy anyway?"

She shrugged, digging her fingernails into her palm. "He was too intimidated by me," she sighed sadly. "It's a curse, really." Her lower lip trembled and she busted into laughter, gripping her stomach. She sobered and sighed, not looking forward to the long walk back in the dark. "Oh, by the way," she said slowly, "Thanks for, uh, taking me here. It was excellent. I even forgive you for ducking me in the pool."

He opens the door and lets her out before making sure it shuts nice and tight, the dark closing in on them again. "Your welcome, it was nice to come here with someone this time." he admits, taking the lead and moving through the dark with practiced ease.

She stayed on his heels, listening to their footsteps through the silents halls. It had to be extremely late at night, she wondered what would happen if they were caught. It probably wouldn't look too good to the staff. She poked him in the back as they walked, partially just to make sure he was still even there. "You're a ninja," she announced out loud as if she'd just had an epiphany. "Night-vision, sneaking around, it all makes sense now."

He stays quiet until finally they arrive at the first door, before he pushes it open he tuns to her and taking advantage of her inability to see him he leans close and smiles, "A ninja I just might be, wanna see my best trick?" he moves his feet in just a way that he knows he will make a quick getaway.

She almost runs into him when he pauses at the door, but she hears his footsteps stop. "Sure," she agrees cheerfully, squinting into the darkness. "If I can actually see it, I'm sure I will be very impressed."

Lacey waits, letting the space they are in go very quiet, his hand curled around the door handle even as he leans closer, "Goodnight Alice of many talents, sleep well." the kiss that lands on her cheek is soft and almost light enough to not be noticed. When he shoves the door open a blur is all that is seen before he is gone, seeming to vanish, moving quickly out of view.

She stood there for a moment, processing. Slowly she lifted a hand to her cheek, pressing her palm to where he'd kiss her and allowing a stupid smile to grow on her face. "Damn you," she called after him, knowing he'd hear. "Leaving me to pine after you," she muttered, jerking the door open and making her way down the hall. He really had completely disappeared.
