Hello and welcome to Inogaku, a detailed high school roleplay with a very casual vibe. It's primarily character-driven rather than plot-driven; OOC conversation is a must, so having a discord is practically a prerequisite on my end. You can navigate to the other sections of the roleplay via the links to the left, including our discord server. Please be advised that an expanded version of the roleplay rules are located there. Do note that we're operating on a roleplayer-cap system, not a character-cap system.
about inogaku
honor and excellence; country and self
introduction
Inoue Gakuen is a relatively new school, a sort of flagship prototype formed from the combined efforts of the Japanese government and private institutions. Founded 11 years ago by Inoue Isamu, the school's mission remains the same until now. Its goal is simple: it aims to emulate a college-like academic environment while still keeping the core experiences associated with being a high school student. Though it's a little early to tell if it will become the high school equivalent of Toudai, many of its students eventually came to be household names in Japan, and most of its alumni cite the academy as one of their greatest influences.
Academically speaking, most, if not all, of Inogaku's students are at the very least above average. An initial entrance exam is required, followed by an interview by the faculty of a student's department of choice, as well as talent tests for relevant majors, such as those under sports or arts. It's possible to apply for a scholarship once accepted, however it's very rare that someone from the General Education department (that isn't a sports representative) receives one. They give priority to those who go under specific majors.
Much like a typical college or university, the academy is divided into three main departments catering to the main interests of its students. These are the Sports and General Education Department, the STEM Department, and finally the Performing and Fine Arts Department. Each department has a slightly different curriculum from the others, focusing on their intended subject. People who belong to the STEM program have a higher priority on science and mathematics subjects than, say, someone from the Arts Department, although the latter is still required to learn the basics.
Unlike most magnet schools with specific interests, Inogaku aims to give its students a holistic experience. An unfortunate side-effect is that the diversified interests make it difficult for the Academy to be the best at any particular field. Locally however, they've gained traction as the top school junior high students want to enroll in.

inogaku life
The school grounds are vast, in contrast to many of the schools that reside in Tokyo. This is because Inogaku is located away from metropolitan areas and rather isolated, with the nearest city being a bus ride away. It sits on a partial nature reserve in order to educate its students about the value of conservation.
Each department has its own complex of buildings, with the largest belonging to the Sports and Gen Ed students to accomodate the former's necessary equipment. Most of the school is shared ground however; it's not uncommon to see an Art student in the STEM department, or a Gen Ed student hanging out in the music rooms.
Many of Inogaku's students are from out of prefecture, and so it has on-campus accommodations for such situations. The dorm buildings are on opposite ends of the school, separated by gender, with three students per room. There's a common livingspace on the first floor of each dorm building, and each floor has a shared bathroom area comprising of six shower stalls and six toilets. Living in a dorm isn't required if your house is near enough, and it's encouraged to give priority to those who need it more.
Much of the school relies on a student's ID card; it acts as your meal ticket, your library card, your dorm key and your computer lab log, as well as a number of other uses. The staff advises heavily not to lose it; while the first loss is free, any subsequent replacements have a fine in addition to the processing fee.

The male and female PE uniform are identical; white track suites with parallel black lines running along the seams. Students should wear sneakers or whatever appropriate footwear. During summer students are required to take swimming classes, so the school has swimwear, with an optional rashguard.
