Innocent Blood Pt 2 - Characters of the mundane world delve into the World of Darkness
Please note: This is NOT a fandom. It is a serious story. Some humor is great. Can't be serious all the time. The more serious investigation techniques of X Files and CSI shows would be more appropriate. Innocent Blood gets its title from a musical group in the RP by that name. The band is partly composed of members that are instructors at UCLA. Vampires here are more of the White Wolf rpg or Anne Rice variety. They are intelligent and cultured, with a political structure, bloodlines, and clans. (This is a mixed blessing.) Newer vampires won't be all that much stronger than humans. But vampires that have lived more than a single human lifetime will be extremely dangerous. Humans and young vampires will be no match for elders.
In Part 1, our heroes were a homicide detective and a CSI intern. They were drawn into the World of Darkness when a Hunter named Isaiah Thrush killed a fan of the band Innocent Blood (the RP’s band, not the real one) and deposited the body in front of the music building of the UCLA campus. Just before dawn a handful of students had discovered the body of the young student, Rebecca Walker, in the parking lot. She was a petite and quite beautiful blonde - had likely been a cheerleader in her high school years. She wore a black T shirt with the fluorescent logo of Innocent Blood, a local band, and jeans with intentional rips and tears, a style of kids these days, not the result of the attack.
Cause of death was readily apparent. Her throat had been ripped. What was missing was all the blood. The natural conclusion for that was - murdered elsewhere then moved. But then why leave the body in the parking lot?
With the aid of the elder vampires, Isaiah Thrush was identified as the killer and hunted down. The story went quite public. Isaiah Thrush claimed he was a vampire hunter, but that it took a fake vampire to expose the existence of real ones. He accused the “system” of being sick with humans bound in service to vampires. Despite his wild claims, Thrush was declared legally sane to stand trial and was convicted of murder.
Isaiah Thrush never made it to prison. During transit the bus was attacked and everyone slain - except Thrush. Details were sketchy at best. But the body of Thrush was never recovered.
It has been a year since Thrush vanished. It is now the year 2016. This time the “crime scene” is even more bizarre. An Innocent Blood fan was shoved out of the back of a security van in the middle of morning rush hour. Witnesses say that the young woman spontaneously burst into flames and died before their eyes despite all attempts to extinguish the fire.
Once more the World of Darkness is threatened by the light of day and the Enforcers of Innocent Blood must fight to keep the Veil from being torn apart. This time, however, a new threat seeks to thwart their efforts. And the elders must prevail while trying to prevent a civil war from breaking out in the Cainite world.

For the most part your characters are NOT Hunters (such as in Supernatural). Most should merely be in search of the truth - unless perhaps they lost a friend or lover to what they suspect was a vampire. (The police archetypes may have a tougher time working with the rest.) And the event that precipitates this story has facts that either support your belief in the supernatural - or force you to seek rational explanations.
For those who loved the TV series Kolchak or Night Stalker, this RP is for you. For this is a story about the search for a real vampire. And this group will succeed beyond its wildest expectations. The RP is based in Los Angeles to start.
There will be some NPC specialists out there for the members to consult - like a hematologist with her own lab at UCLA. In fact there are a few professors at UCLA to consult. There will also be some ME’s in the Law Enforcement field, and coroners, the occasional NPC hunters, other supernatural creatures, etc.
gets its title from a musical group in the RP by that name. The band is partly composed of members that are instructors at UCLA.
Dr Maia Ixchel - PhD in Hematology. Teaches night classes in the medical department at UCLA. Vocalist. In truth she was the last Mayan princess, and was embraced by Quetzalcoatl.
Anabelle Kramer - Owns and operates a high class 1920’s style nightclub. It was closed for remodeling after the place was victimized by arson. It has finally re-opened. She is also known as a talent scout for young musicians. But she is rumored to be jinxed as noone she has sponsored has ever made it big. Her role in the band is as the pianist. She was once a vampire - a Brujah - that achieved Golconda.
Isabelle McArthur - Lead guitarist and vocalist. Celtic origins. In truth she was a simple healer back in the 9th century, accused of witchcraft and sentenced to be burned at the stake for trying to seduce a holy man. Her sire rescued her from the flames and embraced her.
Kaori Knossis - An amazonish blonde of Greek origins. Plays a harp and flute. In truth she was a gladiator in the days of King Minos of Mycenae. She was embraced by Nyctasia (see below).
Samantha Carlson - Violinist and guitarist. British origins. Teaches history of British Empire. Looks like one of those feminist survivalists. In truth she was born in 1819 and raised in East Africa. There she was embraced by a Gangrel.
Nyctasia El-Badari - Smallish woman of Egyptian origins. Doesn’t play an instrument. Possibly a groupie? Then again, she seems rather too sophisticated for that. She was embraced by Isis before the invention of the First Dynasty or even the invention of written language.
Other Major NPC’s
Anya Duquesne - a Gypsy vampire of incredible power. She is believed to be an offshoot of the Tremere bloodline.
Rick Travers - Samantha’s ghoul.
Ghoul - a human who drinks vampire blood
Kindred - term the vampire use to refer to themselves.
Embrace - the transformation of a human into a vampire
Characters Archetypes
Reporters - I suggest the newspaper or web based news variety. But it really doesn’t matter. It will just be hard to keep your job if you vanish every time you get a tip about a possible vampire story.
Police - You have seen some strange homicides in your time. Perhaps you lost a partner or loved one to a suspected vampire. Oh noone seriously believes the idea. And if you are smart, you have laughed it off rather than get laid off. But every time there is a new lead to what sounds like a vampire scene, you will do what you can to go investigate.
Mythologist - This may be an archaeologist, librarian, etc. This is someone with an education in literature and lore. Of course, there is no way to know if any of it has a shred of truth. You’d give just about anything to see a real vampire.
Biological Scientist - This can be a forensic specialist, a pathologist, a medical student, ambulance tech, or any sort of scientist that might be obsessed with the concept of vampirism. Like the others you are driven to investigate any lore or evidence.
Others? - The idea here is that none of you has ever actually seen a vampire (at least not that you know of). But the subject is your obsession. If your idea is unusual, PM it to me first. I would prefer to stay away from stereotype goth chicks, addicts, or any characters with limited views of the world. Likewise, absolutely NO teenaged characters!! For that matter the minimum age should be 21. Remember, this RP is about the characters’ INTRODUCTION into the World of Darkness. If they know about the supernatural, it should come from Fiction or Mythology.
The RP will take place in Los Angeles.

Each Scene should begin with a preface of:

About the RP
The RP will take place in Los Angeles.
General Rules
- All site rules apply
- No God Modding, Bunnying, Metagaming, etc.
- Romance is fine, but fade-to-black for those mature scenes (18+ stuff)
Writing Rules
- Posts must be of good writing skills, and generally a minimum of three paragraphs. Really I am looking for better than that. I want paragraphs that aren’t two sentences long. Good content. Use third person, past tense.
- Characters need to interact. While I realize that dialogue is challenging for some, it will be a requirement. Watch for examples of how to make speech more noticeable. (Most usually use boldface. Some add color.)
- Try to stick to one or two posts a day, giving others a chance to post. What I do NOT want is to have two characters bouncing back and forth with short one paragraph posts. If you want to do that, build up a Joint Post in PM's, then have one of you copy and paste it, cleaned up for spelling and grammar, what clarity as to what character is doing / saying what.
- As a minimum members are expected to post at least every other day - unless most of the RP is on hold for a scene between a couple characters. Then those characters need to wrap their scene up. The idea here is to not keep other members waiting.
Each Scene should begin with a preface of:
Title
Location
Time:
Characters present: (include character and member name with a tag)
Subsequent posts in the scene only need the title.
