- Artist — vikisighHELLO!“”Let me live, love, and say it well in good sentences.
Hello new friends! Call me Aura. I’ve been role-playing for nearly a decade and have ample of experience. I’m here, much like everyone else, to find some new partners to RP with. I’m usually most active on weekends and closer to the beginning of the week when it comes to responses. Although, I do have to warn you that I’m a slow writer. I love walls of text and written details so I take my time. Well-written characters and active plotting are my current motivations for role-play. If you’d like a creative partner who enjoys ooc chat and trading head canons, I may be your girl. Thanks for stopping by!RULESRespect - I’m not sure if this is discussed often, but I do abide by the Golden Rule. I think kindness and respect are important values to be shared among partners. If you have any concerns, please do tell me. I encourage communication. But things like hate speech or rudeness will not be tolerated.
Communication - I think this is what truly makes or breaks a partnership. I’m patient when it comes to responses. I usually only nudge people when they haven’t responded for some time. I would really appreciate it if you can extend the same courtesy.
Also, please let me know if you ever lose interest, I won’t take it personally. I’m actually really grateful for it because it does relieve any worries that might result from just plain ghosting.
Limits - Please keep within the rules of RPNation. Let’s both keep sexy times as time skip or fade to black and not be too extreme in depictions of violence/horror. My personal triggers include sexual abuse, pedophilia, and animal cruelty. If you’ve got any sensitive topics you’d like to avoid, please let me know so we can keep the RP a safe and fun writing endeavour. - Writing Style“”We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect.
I write in third person, past tense paragraphs. In terms of quantity, I usually mirror my partner’s length. If you’re looking for word count, I average 500-800 words per post. Sometimes more and sometimes less. It really depends on my muse and schedule. I often use bold case to identify speech and italics for inner thoughts. I’ll include a writing sample so you’ll get a feel for it.SAMPLE
“While you might find this terribly amusing, I do intend to perform today,” Camille relaxed into a smile. Her own awareness of the situation made it easy for her to stay confident in her position. Hugh might have tried to sabotage her try-out; however, she wasn’t quick to yield the opportunity that she was presented so quickly. “I look at it as a golden ticket to my own freedom.”
The violinist found the strength of her conviction so strange. When push came to shove, she didn’t anticipate that she would actually be able to go through with it. If you had asked her weeks before, she would’ve given into him without resistance. But her motivations were crystallized when her mother invested into her so much so that she risked an early pay check. Camille wanted to make her proud, regardless of the stunt her own rival posed.
She waited for Hugh’s smug response. There was no love lost between them after all. There was a part of her that did recognize his nerves. Being between close quarters before, during practice, she witnessed the pressure that he was under to perform. While for her, it was fully internal - she was motivated to reach the next level for her own growth. For him, it looked forced - like his mother was somehow was funneling his decisions to fit her own devices. Yet, for every time she extended an olive branch, he only served to swat her arms away in retort and throw her into a proverbial lion’s pit.
He was hard headed, but it was a shell. And she wasn’t going to take advantage of how sensitive he was truly and twist his arm. To let bygones be bygones, she offered her hand yet again. A sitting duck for his intolerable cruelty. “Good luck! I’m looking forward to seeing you in the final round.”
Or perhaps not.
She was still holding out hope for his change of heart. She would rather approach him with compassion rather than cynicism.
Camille smoothed the pleats of her white dress. Her dark hair flowed in subtle waves, pinned against her temples with a white hair clip to keep her vision clear. The make-up she wore was light, natural, to suit her own personality. She never did care for anything bombastic or show-stopping. Being in the limelight wasn’t a priority, for the love of music, she practiced her craft for the love of music.
The clattering feet signalled that other performers were on the way. A tense aura hung in the air as musicians picked up their instruments and warmed up. Melodies distinct resounded in disharmony as each person had a different composition they prepared. Together, it was just a bunch of unintelligible noise. However, if one were to listen to each one in isolation, they would come to a realization of the talent every single one of them brought.
The violinist stomach started to churn. She was surrounded by prodigies and professionals alike. This was going to be her greatest challenge yet. She stared at the pristine red carpet on her feet. Her shoes felt like a comforting sight as she tried to avoid anyone’s attention. Where was the self-assured girl that tried to defend her own honour now?
She stared at the open violin case on the table in front of her. The warm, muted light from the common room reflected against the roan brown varnished surface of the curved wooden instrument. Her fingers trembled to reach unto it as if it was going to crumble the moment she touched it. Did she dare lift it to practice with the others? She wasn’t sure.
Instead, she pulled the creased paper that was tucked into its pockets. Sheet music. She examined the staff note by note like an author revising their final manuscript. She knew it was an act of futility, looking at the musical symbols didn’t improve her performance unless she was holding the violin in her hand. But she was nervous. Truly nervous of what was to come.
Her thoughts began to wander as her gaze shifted towards her rival. She didn’t know if Hugh was feeling the same thing that she was. She was hesitant to reach out, not wanting to jeopardize anything, if he was intent on concentrating. Instead she chewed her lips and allowed her feet to walk. Fresh air, maybe, would serve to calm her down.PreferencesGender - I have more experience writing feminine characters to masculine, but I don’t shy to writing men. In fact, it’s really fun to explore both sides. I have no preference for the gender/orientation that I play against. Whatever makes you happy. c:
Relationships - It can be any. While I love romance, platonic and familial relationships are also great. Even antagonistic plots where our characters are squaring off is a cool idea to play with.Genres - Completely open. Whether you wanna dip into sci-fi, fantasy, dystopian, apocalyptic, or simple slice of life, I welcome them all. The most interesting stories are a blend of more than one genre.
Characters - I absolutely adore fully fleshed out characters. I like creating and reading character sheets in detail. If that jives with you, we’d probably be great partners.Plot Themes - Beauty in Simplicity, Change of Power/Revolution, Circle of Life, Coming of Age, Dimensional Travel, Disillusionment and Dreams, Everlasting Love, Facing Darkness (Internal or External), Found Families, Heroism, Heartbreak and Betrayal, Immortality and Isolation, Lost Honour, Love and Sacrifice, Power and Corruption, Quest for Discovery, Rebirth, Reunion, Technology in Society (Androids, AI, etc.), War. - PAIRINGSKEY: Bold (My Preferred Role) x Normal (Your Role). PLOTSHaunting (Supernatural) - After being in a terrible accident, Muse A’s apartment is put up for rent (belongings and all) and Muse B takes the place. But it’s all too good to be true, because Muse A is a ghost who doesn’t remember what happened to them, doesn’t realize they’re a ghost, and does not appreciate a stranger living in their apartment. Muse B tries everything (exorcism, cleansing, rituals) to get rid of the stubborn ghost, but Muse A doesn’t budge. Friendship/Romance starts to blossom until they find another hidden truth. Luckily (or unluckily) for them, Muse A isn’t really dead, but they’re in a coma in the hospital on the other side of town.
Memories (Modern/Slice of Life) - Muse A is an artist who is struggling to find inspiration. Muse B is also an artist, but one who prefers to keep their talent hidden. While exploring town/the city/(insert ideal location) one afternoon, Muse A stumbles upon Muse B’s private studio. It takes some maneuvering and a lot of trespassing, but Muse A finds their way in. Once inside of the other artist’s creative space, Muse A discovers the most amazing work they’ve ever seen. All of Muse B’s pieces evoke a strong emotion in Muse A and they can’t put their finger on why. Against their better judgment, Muse A hangs around the studio in hopes of meeting the artist. Muse B returns some time later, displeased to find Muse A. There’s a reason why Muse B’s work can touch Muse A as it does; Muse B has the unique ability to recreate their subject’s memories in vivid detail, without knowing so much as a first name. Muse B can’t turn it off, or choose what memories they create, good or bad. It’s a power they’ve had since they were young and they don’t want anyone to find out and exploit it. Frankly, Muse B finds their gift to be a burden.
Butterfly Effect (Sci-Fi) - In the year 2120, people are finally able to travel through space and time rather than just being limited to travel to a geographical location. Time travel is the best vacation money can buy and it’s surprisingly inexpensive. There are restrictions, of course, that must be followed to ensure the integrity of the space-time continuum. A time traveler must learn the historical background, customs, manner of speaking and dress of the era before booking a trip; there is an exam to ensure such conditions are met. Most importantly, they must not interfere in the events of an era native’s life in any significant way. Muse A time travels for the first time after passing their exam and is ready to explore. They meet Muse B, an era-native, almost right away, encountering them in trouble. Muse A knows that they aren’t allowed to interfere, but they can’t in good conscience turn a blind eye to someone in trouble.. because Muse A interferes, they are barred from returning to their present day. It’s in the fine print of their time travel itinerary, which they failed to read.
Cherished (Dystopian) - In a future world where human beings no longer have the ability to reproduce without the aid of scientific engineering (due to decades of exposure to harsh environmental pollutants and secret government initiatives to stave off the population to preserve resources), the kiss has become the highest form of physical intimacy. Kisses are reserved for your Cherished One–a mate who is assigned by a local agency based on extensive compatibility evaluations given when someone reaches the age of 18. Embracing someone who is not your Cherished One in this special way is a crime punishable by law, with serious repercussions for both people caught in the act. Those who are caught betraying their Cherised One can be sent to an interment facility for varying amounts of time depending on the severity of the ‘offense’ and may forfeit their right to participate in an annual lottery that decides which couples will be permitted to bear children through in vitro means. There are couples who are rumored to have defied the law and abandoned their Cherished One for another, but little is known of ‘the Disgraced’ as they are called because they must live apart from society in order to avoid the reach of the authorities. Muse A and Muse B have just taken their compatibility evaluations.
Crowned (Fantasy) - Muse A is a young queen who has married into a dysfunctional royal family. Though her husband, the king, is even-tempered and kind-hearted, there are constant feuds between the king’s siblings who rule the neighboring kingdoms. During a lavish banquet, a fierce swordfight breaks out between rival members of the noble family and the good king is slain in the process of trying to keep the peace. Sadness sweeps over the kingdom and other rulers from far and wide come to the funeral to pay their condolences to the bereaved queen. Muse B, a beautiful elf who is next in line to their throne, dutifully makes the journey on behalf of their ailing father though they want nothing to do with kingship or the responsibilities that the crown entails. When Muse B meets Muse A they discover that they are kindred spirits, Muse A never wanted to be royalty either. The unlikely pair decide to run away together in the dead of night, consequences be damned.
We Merry Few (Post-Apocalyptic) - In a post-apocalyptic world, where natural resources once thought to be infinite in supply have become scarce, humankind has become hostile and joyless. The very few who have not lost their will to be happy, despite grim circumstances, have joined up with a mobile task force (the traveling circus) to spread merriment to the masses and to remind people of better times. Muse A, sweet and shy, and Muse B, confident and blunt, are both performers in the traveling circus. They travel with a small band of others and the ringleader between town establishments. Unbeknownst to Muse A and Muse B, the ringleader has been stockpiling resources smuggled from each town they’ve visited, branding them all as criminals. When Muse A accidentally discovers this secret stash, they immediately confide in Muse B. Fearing for their safety, the duo decide to run away from the circus together but it’s not as simple to get away as they think.
