Dark Souls
Prepare to Die Edition
Now this is a story all about how your life got flipped-turned upside down, and I'd like to take a minute- just sit right there; I'll tell you how you became the savior of some Worlds here and there.
As the title not-very-subtly implies, this is a big ol' crossover done in the reality of Kingdom Hearts. If you're unaware, Kingdom Hearts is set in a collection of 'Worlds', all themed off different Disney or Final Fantasy franchises. A common reality links them all together, and the protagonist, Sora, must travel between them to fight back against evil villain #986 subcategory O: Shadowy cult.
Now, one of the reasons this works so well even though the subject matter is so wide is because the recurring themes between all the movies (and the indisputable canonicity since Disney is involved) means they can be woven together properly. The unfortunate downside is that they must limit themselves to their own brands: Final Fantasy and Disney. There are some exceptions now, but the number remains small. It's probably better that way. The developers stay in a relative comfort zone and can focus on keeping the gameplay awesome since they don't have to worry about incorporating anything too outlandish.
My question is, "What if we threw that out the window?" With this, my plan is to toss the Disney aspects, restructure the Final Fantasy components and add in a bunch of Worlds outside of the typical lot that Kingdom Hearts dips into. I'm talking Final Fantasy XIV (instead of VII, VII and more VII), Warhammer perhaps, Dark Souls even, Okami, and others that may be suggested. Many will be derived from video games, since there's just so much to draw from them!
Now, this will take a very, VERY long time to complete, if it's ever completed at all. The story will be divided among the different Worlds, as the overarching plot causes things to happen on a smaller scale, and vice versa. You'll start in one place, and your objective will pretty much boil down to, "Beat the bad guys who are making everyone's life suck." The inner workings of your character's personality are up to you, though I advise that you avoid anything cliche. Lazy writing is unwelcome.
Of course, that's assuming you're interested. If you are, feel free to let me know, whether with a reply or private message. Keep in mind there will be aspects reminiscent of Kingdom Hearts' gameplay involved with this, meaning there's plenty of room for overly flashy combat.
An important note on characters: Characters canon to the game/movie series represented in this story are key components of the different Worlds. Because of this and other reasons, they are not available for use by participating players, and thus players must construct their own protagonist to use. Another reason behind this is that the abilities of characters in different series tend to vary widely, and thus their ability to fit into the overall story and gameplay would be inconsistent at best. Making a character tailored to this story means that systems can remain consistent, and certain major issues can be avoided entirely.
