Fantasy In Search of Long-Term, Lengthy Writers to RP with!

nightelfcrawler

New Member
Hello everyone, brand new to this site, so bear with my learning curve. While new to the site, I am not new to Roleplaying. I have been playing since 1998 in the age of AOL (back when it was still a thing!), and it has only since progressed. My goal in life is to publish a book, so that being said I am a bit on the wordy side with my posts. I'm hoping that won't scare you off.

Who I am:

Gal in her 30's, working professional
Posts 2,000 to 8,000 character posts typically if doing in e-mail or forum format (shorter obviously for IM style RPs).
Posts in 3rd person, proper spelling, grammar, and written in novel-style
Will do just about anything, and cover most content within the genre I am playing. I have some exceptions, but those can be discussed if they come up during our meet & greet

Who I'm looking for:
Looking for at minimum 1 post per day, or every other day to keep me interested, of equal caliber and similar length to my own posts
Prefers email or IMs like Google Hangouts or Skype, but will do forum RP if that's your preferred medium.
Will only RP with someone 18+, and preferably 21+. Since I'm in my 30's it can be quite the age gap, and I've found it doesn't usually mesh well stylistically to pair with someone half my age, sorry!
Looking for someone who is not afraid to write, and write a lot in one go. I'm patient, and would rather have quality over quantity. I need someone to match my muse.
You must write in proper grammar, spelling with no 'netspeak' abbreviations during gameplay. OOC stuff is perfectly fine.
When writing, you control your character and their actions, I control mine. No puppeteering, maneuvering or assuming actions.
We all play NPCs or side-characters, and dually contribute to the plot.

The Setting:

I am willing to try anything setting-wise if you have an idea and want to go with it. I'm good at coming up with characters and concepts. I prefer deep emotional characters that are complex. I can do upbeat, angsty, you name it. But I prefer a blend or balance. I'm not into too much fluff, or too much angst. Must find common ground to balance it out.

That being said, I have a world in mind that I'd love to float your way, if it interests you:

- Low fantasy setting - there is magic and fantasy, but it's not prevalent, and is fading, forgotten and mostly stories and myth. Few people know anything about magic, other than the mysterious tales told around campfires, few have ever seen it. Magical creatures are stories, and not reality to most, and anyone caught with a magical artifact or practicing is usually hunted down and imprisoned or executed. Think Game of Thrones, but more totalitarian and paranoid. The world is on the cusp of a revolution, and ruled by a family who essentially hunted down and killed many of the mythical people and creatures. But some still exist, and are rare, but found. Some races escaped the purge and hide. Some know the art of magic, and carefully protect it.

Anyone seeking to partner up in this world has to be OK with it being low fantasy... with the potential to become Higher fantasy as the story moves forward. I'm open to ideas for your character, however, so we can discuss.

My character is male, and as of such I would prefer a female partner if we are going to pursue a romance. If you have a stellar male character however, I can make mine female. I'm not afraid of writing for either. However, while I support the LGBT community, my characters are typically straight because (lets face it) so am I. Supporting characters of all orientations are welcome, however. And if we are not pursuing a romance, then all of those restrictions are gone. I'll take pure adventure too if that's your cup of tea.

I have an overall plot in mind, but much of it is also depending what ideas YOU have! So we can play off each other and see what we come up with.

Any questions please inquire. As I am new, I believe there is a post limit before I can PM you, so please reply with inquiries as to what you want to know, and your ideas.

Thank you!

~ Jen

Hello!!
I adore, darker grittier plots. I’m 22, so I slightly meet your age requirement. I usually write here, and I’d like to say when I’m inspired I can write pages.
If maybe you’d like to discuss further, let me know!!! (:

I had one cute idea for a fantasy or modern scene:
Your character is a new employee in a shop that sells muffins and donuts and coffee and stuff (think Tim Hortons). One day a young girl, only about 14, comes in. She walks behind the counter, takes a muffin, then sits in a booth and reads a book. No one says anything about the girl, but surely one can't just steal perfectly good product!

Honestly, I don't know how to make this go long-term other than making it romance or adventure. See, the girl (or her family) owns the store, so sometimes she gets herself a nice and tasty snack!

I have another character that I've been wanting to play as we well; she's also 14, but I'm more open to cross-gender play with her. She could be an up-and-coming celebrity who hasn't yet been tainted. You could be a classmate, friend of hers, old friend, friend of her brother, someone she works with, or a fan!

If you want an older character, I have one who is 18... I just don't have any good scenes for her (she's supposed to be a powerful figure in a fantasy world).

I can do darker and grittier, though my character is most definately more of an optimist in the face of all of that.
Can you give me an idea as to what you might wish to play for your character? Do you have a concept, or an idea tickling your fancy?

14 and 18 are way below the age I'm looking for. I need a mature adult character to play against, as I'm not very patient when it comes to immaturity in characters. I am also very strongly *not* into modern stories, sorry. I'm in to epic stories with in depth plot and real roadmapping that we develop together. I'm afraid it sounds like what you're offering isn't really my cup of tea. But I wish you good luck!

This has to be one of the best ideas I have seen. I am 20 but will be 21 in a few months. Also, as you said in a previous post, I do enjoy eerie stories and my character would be a very aggressive female type. Please consider me as on opinion.

I can so in-depth plot, but I just like to play as young characters since those years were rough on me.

I would love to consider you. Could you provide a character summary? I would love to see what you are interested in playing.

I haven’t decided on the species yet, moving more towards a dark fairy though, Her first name will be Lira. Like many other mystical creatures she went into hiding morphing herself into a human form. Due to the death of her family she despises humans yet has no deserve to kill the innocent. Her personality tends to get her in a lot of trouble. Being the very short temple filly that she is ends up in numerous fights and wishes without using her abilities. Finding the other creatures she tries her best to give them a home but she is young for her species and naive for the most part.

This is the just the basics I’ll have more when creating a form of her.

My apologies if I at all seemed as if I was seeming to be critical, that was not my intent. I merely was trying to explain that I am not interested in joining a story with characters of that age. No insult was intended. I understand your desire to wish to play that age range, and that is fine, but again, not what I am in search of at this moment. Thank you for understanding.

Hello there, Jen!!

I would love to do a story with you, if you are up for it! I love you setting as I am always one for fantasy being thrown in to things, but I would also love to just bounce ideas off one another and see what we can come up with! I think we could make something rather interesting together!

Also! I am 21 going on 22 and prefer older partners as well so I think that will work well! I apologize for not writing too much here but I’m excited!

I’m interested in your idea, if you are still looking for a partner based in your world.

My character idea would be that of a Druid human female who has the ability to perform magic. While able to do magic, she isn’t very adept at it because there has been no one to teach her how to control it. But that doesn’t mean that her magic will randomly happen, it’s more like she has a hard time making the connection to the magic to wield it. Most of her family cannot do magic, and no nothing about her ability except for her grandfather who attempts to help her learn.

Her personality would be along the lines of someone who can’t let others suffer if she can do something about it, stubborn at times, reserved but opinionated.

Summary for now, but I’d be willing to discuss further if you are interested. Let me know and I will PM you if you haven’t reached the post count yet.

Oh, also I’m a 25y woman and i believe I can meet your once a day to every other day requirement (minus on saturdays and sundays where I’m busing working 10-11 hour shifts at work)

I’m not afraid of dark or gritty scenes. I do like drama and angst as well. Romance is a plus when it isn’t the sole focus of a roleplay, I love adventure/action settings.

Let's discuss this. Since the forum still sees me as too new, feel free to DM me if you'd like to discuss options

Hello! I doubt that I'm what you are looking for seeing as you are primarily looking for a female. I DO however have a male character I have been fleshing out. Its pretty dark and I think it might fit into a low fantasy kind of world, though I would have to make some adjustments. If you are interested let me know :)
