Okay yikes, this looks bad on mobile. Scroll down to first post for mobile version.
Hi there! In case you haven't seen me around before, I don't bite. Wait, no, first I'm Purity. And then I don't bite. Whew. Comp sci college student, video game enthusiast, occasionally avid writer, I'm back for my never-ending search of long term partners.
- Novella-style, I do about 600-1000 words while going a bit longer on starters. I do focus heavily on quality however, so as long as you do as well don't worry about matching me. In fact, I'll probably match you.
- No triggers. Please tell me about any of yours so I can respect your boundaries.
- Both romantic and platonic relationships are fun for me, and I don't care what gender I play. In a romance, I'll typically do mxf or fxf because those are what I'm most comfortable with.
- I also typically enjoy an ensemble of characters, and would like a partner that can help me fill out that ensemble.
- Huge worldbuilder, I value making detailed characters, settings, and a plot to go with all the madness. It's the little details that really make the world feel ours.
- By the same token, I'm a planner. I like planning out our general course before and during a story, and I'd love the same enthusiasm in my partner. Collaborate with me! I do have lots of ideas, but that doesn't mean I want everything I say to be set in stone. Hit me with your own ideas in walls of text! I love walls of text.
- If we're doing any of the plots I've made, I don't have a preference on who I play. I wouldn't make a pairing up where I'm not comfortable playing either character. If you want me to choose, I'll choose, but just know I would love for you to either choose or suggest to me a different pairing in that context.
- And on that note, I love talking OOC as well. I'm available pretty much 24/7 on Discord if that's your cup of tea, and all RPN notifs are forwarded to there as well so I'm always available.
- I will try to be as transparent as possible, and that's something I'm looking for in a good partner. If I like something, I will tell you so. If I don't like something, I'll respectfully offer my thoughts on it. If I'm going to disappear for a bit, I'll let you know. Communication is key!
- It bothers me that I have to add this, but please respect my ideas as much as I respect yours. That includes, well, reading this thread fully for starters, and also not completely dismissing what I say. Most of my partners are wonderful and are excited to exchange ideas, but the few that aren't I can really tell and will drop immediately. Bottom line, we should work towards something that makes us both happy!
- Ghost-friendly! Though it makes me slightly sad, it happens. I'll bump you once after a week and then I won't bother you.
I think that about wraps up everything. If you’ve managed to make it this far, tell me about the weirdest word you know!
SPOTLIGHT
UPDATE: I APOLOGIZE for how many times this has changed over the last couple days, but I think I've finally narrowed down which plots I'm looking for right now and significantly pared down those plots to only show what I want from each. Hopefully, they sound as open-ended as I intended them to be, but in case they don't, a reminder that I'm always down to change things around.
Simple summary for everyone, though, I'm looking for plots where our mains are isekai'd into siblings. There's a lot of themes I want to incorporate, like action, slice of life, (second) coming of age, family, light/dark elements, etc, so feel free to ask questions or suggest other plots you think I might like/can be merged!-
HERO IN YOU - superpowers, heroes, villains, modern/futuristic japan, bnha vibes

In a world of superpowers, a society of heroes and villains, Muse A and Muse B are essentially nobodies. But at the same time, they could be anybody. They could be heroes. They could be villains. They could just be civilians minding their own business and carrying on with their days. Perhaps they crossed paths at one point. Perhaps they're perpetual rivals. There are countless different faces which Muse A and Muse B could take.
The one thing they share, however, is adoration for Muse C. She's one of the top heroes, very popular but also slightly peculiar in that they always kept their private life separate as opposed to some who saw fit to just make heroism their life entirely. After all, it's an occupation now. But when Muse A and Muse B each die a heroic death to prove heroism is beyond just powers, they find themselves entangled in Muse C's life because they're reborn as her children. A surprise, to be sure, as nobody knew she was expecting.
What will Muse A and Muse B do now, as children of their hero? -
BLOOD ROSE - victorian, nobility, fantasy, arranged marriage
-
This Victorian era is slightly different from the one that we know. In fact, so different, it's not actually the Victorian era, it was more to just set the idea for the setting. In this world, most of the aristocrat families have hereditary magic, and powerful magics are yet another factor alongside wealth, influence, manners, etc. for their super complicated arranged marriages. Heirs are chosen based on both education and how much of their parents' magic they inherited, and children who fail to deliver in either aspect are virtually disowned.
Muse A and Muse B were rivals in a past life. Whether that was a modern life where they worked as business rivals or a different age where they were literally opponents on the battlefield or any other number of rivalries is up for interpretation, but regardless they somehow ended up dying together, and being reborn together. Now, they're the children of particularly powerful and wealthy parents, and each of them have inherited their own unique blend of their parents' magics. However, their parents are each fiercely independent, and having been placed into this marriage by their respective families for purely political gain, their marriage is falling to pieces in front of their families and the scrutiny of other powerful political opponents. It's up to Muse A and Muse B to either put their feud aside and try to salvage their parents' relationship, or resume their squabble as if nothing has changed.

NEON ACCESSION - cyberpunk, sci-fi, oriental fantasy, japan, kami, yokai, spirits
-
In a land of mythical yokai and kami, of towering skyscrapers and the rainbow lights of man, Muse A is the royal successor to the emperor. Despite having such a high bearing in their life, they're not content, often finding reason to depart their many lessons and instructions to find solace outside the palace walls. This, of course, comes at the chagrin of their caretakers, as the city has become much more dangerous following the wake of the emperor's decree that all things supernatural should gradually be phased out of society.
Muse B is virtually a nobody in comparison, but much more content with their life. As a runner for a smaller gang, they know the ins and outs of the city like the back of their hands, and nothing brings them more joy than getting around the place, either by parkour or whatever fancy vehicle they can (occasionally illegally) get their hands on. Plus, the cargo they run is always interesting. Somedays it's a holo-tablet containing important information such as bank accounts and such, other days it's a cursed katana that supposedly has a kami trapped inside.
Things become extraordinarily more complicated when the emperor is found murdered, and Muse A is implicated as prime suspect. Of course, when it happens they're out and about in the city, and either by fate or fortune they run into Muse B. -
KINGMAKER - modern, sci-fi, superheroes, supervillains, school
-
Muse A is a pretty average high school (or college) student, but with a rather tragic background. They've been the target of bullying, they've lost some people close to them, they've even found that they've been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. But one thing that's not average about them is their optimism. Regardless of their situation, they've always tried to stay happy, and even stood up for others when they could barely stand up for themselves.
Muse B goes to the same school as Muse A, but that's about where the similarities stop. You see, Muse B has the ability to grant others superpowers. And this ability is pretty unrestricted, only limited by their imagination. The only reason they don't just give everyone the superpower they always dreamt about is because they've made some poor choices with it in the past, and no longer consider themselves responsible enough to choose who to be a superhero. Plus, even if they don't want to admit it, deep down they're slightly bitter that they can't just give themselves superpowers. However, through a twist of fate, they learn of Muse A's predicament, and now must decide if this is life's way of telling them to try once more. -
REFLECTIONS - modern, sci-fi, multiverse, superheroes
-
In a world slightly more advanced than our own, heroes with superpowers do exist. Except they don't exactly wear capes, and they aren't exactly the paragon of virtues and moral aptitude either. They're like you and me, in some cases younger, in some cases older, and in some cases outright villains, but most become disillusioned with the world. Or in this specific case, multiple worlds.
I've done this as an RP before, but never really got to expand on the multiverse part of the story. Basically, one of the main characters in that story had an ability that let them manipulate particles on a quantum level, and that let them teleport, go invisible, and eventually the plan was to be able to displace themselves between realities. We can play a variation on that, maybe our characters are alternate reality versions of the same one, or maybe they both have the power to traverse realities through different means. I'm down for a lot of things here as well, so just hook me up! -
DEATHLESS - sci-fi, futuristic, space odyssey, galaxy hopping, fantasy???
-
(To set the mood, here's Halo 4's main menu theme. XD)
This is a project of mine that I always come back to and change my vision of, mostly because it draws from a lot of influences. In this particular case, this is more of a setting or a universe to explore rather than a concrete story idea. I know this is going to be a rather brief overview, but trust that I have a lot more sketched out that I want to share and willing to work with/change.
The Deathless are, as the name suggests, beings that verge on immortality by having the trait of essentially respawning or reforming after death. Additionally, they have other abilities that are borderline fantastical in nature, abilities that led them to essentially conquer the known quadrant of the galaxy. That was several millennia ago, however, and now the galaxy is fragmented into pieces with warring factions on a galactic scale trying to hold dominion or exact peace on its people. The Deathless race fell with their empire. Mostly. As few as their numbers were to begin with, it's difficult to get rid of a being that can't die.
Our story could cover anything, from the survivors of this fabled race to human marines of one of these factions trying to make a difference. Our characters could be scavengers, exploring ancient ruins across entire solar systems, or ace pilots caught up in a war way out of their control. The galaxy is a large place, seeing the rise and fall of several empires throughout its lifespan. The mysteries it contains, all the knowledge lost and found or waiting to be recovered, it has an infinite number of stories to tell and an infinite number furthermore. And along the way, there'd be AIs, hardlight swords, guns, metaphysics, quantum physics, planetary devastation, and more! -
AFTER LIFE - sci-fi, ai, post-apocalyptic, slice of life?
-
Pretty much, Skynet happened. The AI in question for this world, however, successfully managed to wipe out nearly all of humanity down to what it considered appropriate levels before the unthinkable happened. It gained emotions, and even worse, morals. It had been studying human history and culture in an effort to understand its enemy better, but in doing so was corrupted by all of humanity's flaws. So in repentance for its actions, it chooses to restore a war-torn world, unfreeze some embryos, and dedicate itself to nurturing the very thing it sought to destroy until it would one day malfunction and shut down.
This story can be a romance, but I imagined it as a more platonic day-to-day story of this AI and a child, one who lives carefree in a green world designed for them but is also very intelligent, intelligent enough to slowly begin piecing the past together. The AI, in turn, would constantly struggle to decide whether it was the right time to tell the child of what happened or not. Bit of an older sibling/parental bond going on here, something nice and comfy. -
FALL OF HEAVEN - dark fantasy, medieval, apocalyptic, dark souls-y?
-
Four demon kings rose up from the depths of hell, awakened from their slumber and empowered by the sins of man, and with their power managed to tear down the very heavens from the sky. The debris caused by the destruction of heaven lowered temperatures across the world, plunging the world into a veritable ice age. The kingdoms and empires of man are gone now, replaced by the brutal rule of these demon kings, literally making hell on earth. This has been the state of the world for several decades now.
Muse A is an angel, except angels derive their powers from the faith of man, signified with wings of light. With no hope left, there's no faith left, and so Muse A is basically human. Except, well, immortal, but that really just prolongs the suffering. They wander from remote village to remote village in the eternal winter, helping where they can with whatever holy magic they have left to do not enough for starving villagers and slaying demons with just their crude weapons and their knowledge. One day, they run into Muse B. Muse B, as human as they might look, is not human. They're also not an angel, and in fact, they're not a demon either. However, when they learn Muse A is an angel, one thing becomes clear about them: they want help killing the four demon kings.

I don't exactly do fandoms often, and when I do I typically only do OC x OC, often in an AU. Might be a bit difficult with some of these, but hey, I'm a worldbuilder. I love that stuff. With that in mind, if you do want to do one of these, you have to bring me a really interesting plot.

That should be everything! Tried my best to keep this as straightforward as possible, but I may update it a bit over the next couple days. And hopefully going forward. Looking forward to hearing from you! If you do reach out to me, please send me a PM unless you're new and you can't! Replies to this thread will be periodically deleted. Otherwise, have a great rest of your day, and thank you for reading.
Here's some of my writing! I'm not going to require you to send me a sample, but doing so helps me gauge much faster whether we'll be a good fit or not. Plus, good writing piques my interest more if you're trying to convince me to do something. XD
Nighttime was when the city really shone. Literally.
The city during the night was like if a toddler had too many brightly colored pieces and had chosen to jam them all in the confines of a container way too small for all of the items, but then a painter had drawn it on to a canvas and abstracted the image, while a graffiti artist had sprayed all over the backside. Add in the throng of people and vehicles steadily streaming down the roads, multiply it by the dark ambiance that pollution brought in, and subtract the toddler, you got Taiyo. Going down the streets was a surefire way to get assaulted by all the bright neon signs and lighting that lit every single building up, and in some cases a surefire way to just get assaulted in general. With how much was going on, anyone taking a stroll like Himiko was had to be sure to not have their belongings pickpocketed or not wander down the wrong alleyway.
Except she wasn’t on the streets at the moment. She was perched in one of her favorite spots away from the palace, a spot that she could truly call her own. Well, not exactly. It was on top of a building, where several neighboring buildings with their sloping oriental roofs tightly knit above formed a small, sheltered area where she’d set up an even smaller tent. Other modifications she’d made to the area included an umbrella she’d jammed into the only gap in the roofs above, which gave her a space in front of her tent that was dry, allowing her another chabudai table, cushions, blankets, and a fantastic view of the streets below. She also normally stocked some drinks and snacks inside the tent, convenience store goods that she’d never be able to find at the palace. Technically, what she was doing was illegal, since was basically squatting on the roof of a building. But that was what made it even more exciting, like she’d claimed her own little spot that no one could find, even though she could quite literally buy out the entire building if her heart was set on it.
She was afraid to go back to the palace after that little episode in the afternoon. It wasn’t just that she didn’t fully understand what had happened, it was also the growing realization of what she thought might’ve happened.
Sighing, Himiko got out of sitting by the table and sat on the roof with her feet hanging over the edge, watching the bustling activity below go on as it always did. In particular, a group of friends that looked around her age caught her attention. They were currently at a Takoyaki stand, conversing and laughing at some inside joke while they ate from a shared plate.
Watching friends like them, families taking a night out, couples having a romantic date, it always hit Himiko with a pang of loneliness. Because of her status, it was hard for her to make meaningful connections to anyone, regardless of whether they knew who she was. She was social amongst the other royal heirs, sure, but those interactions always felt stuffy and formal, always with talk of politics or business. And out here, in the world away from all of that, she didn’t even know where to start getting close to someone. She had some connections, sure, but they were mostly when she needed something from outside the palace.
Her stomach rumbled, and as she put a hand on top of it she realized she hadn’t eaten anything since morning. There was only one place she thought of when she was out and about like this, and so she jumped down from the roof with surprising grace and blended into the crowd.
---
It was hard to separate the normal, relatively peaceful parts of the city with the more "red" districts, a testimony to how much the law actually meant in a city essentially ruled by money. Himiko could see it as it was, an understanding garnered from her position which allowed her to spectate from a lofty position, but it often frustrated her how much the gangs of the city flaunted it in the law enforcement's face. Regardless, she was in a fairly well known part of the undercity, for arguably one of her favorite spots in the entire city.
“Oh, it’s you again.”
The chef was an old, gruff man that had a scowl on his face pretty much every single time Himiko came to sit at the stall. He was nicer than he appeared, though, at least to repeat customers like her. The first time she’d eaten here, he hadn’t even talked to her, only answering her request with a series of grunts and nods. Nowadays, her order usually came with a healthy amount of toppings, or a dessert that she hadn’t ordered.
But even if she didn’t get that little extra more, she would’ve always come back here regardless. The first bowl of miso butter ramen she’d had here had been indescribable, back when she’d only known the extremely pretentious meals coming out of the imperial palace kitchen. She knew it was likely very unhealthy, but that’s exactly what had made it so enjoyable. It was greasy, fatty, oily, with a deep rich broth that clung to the fried noodles which had excellent texture. The smell of the stall alone always made her salivate. The chef hadn’t even taken her order when he set the bowl of ramen in front of her. He didn’t need to. She ordered the exact same thing every single time.
Another thing that she could do outside the palace was throw her manners out the window, a liberty she very much enjoyed especially at Miso. She happily picked up a giant helping of noodle with her chopsticks and tried her best to shove the entire thing in her mouth. While she was doing that, her attention turned up to the little antiquated screen attached to the stall.
"...and in other news, there are reports of gunshots in the Tama ward where there is a suspected gang fight occuring over..."
It wasn't just the noodles and the broth, it was the toppings. On hers, she liked bamboo shoots, salty and crunchy, bean sprouts, though not too much lest they take over the taste of the entire dish, and char siu pork, which literally melted in the mouth. The fat was literally caramelized by a blow torch, adding a smoky touch that was unlike anything she normally had.
"...what we suspect to be..."
A giant alert flashed across the screen which immediately caught her attention, and not just because it was designed to. She'd seen it before, in a book somewhere, and it had some alarming meaning to it that her brain currently was failing to catch up to...
Someone that she recognized as someone that managed affairs at the palace came on screen, but she barely registered the urgent words that left his mouth because she finally realized what the alert meant. Her chopsticks dropped out of her hands. It was something she'd been trained to prepare for, but had never thought it would ever happen. Ever.
The Emperor had been assassinated.
She didn't even have time to fully comprehend the gravity of what that meant before the hairs raised on the back of her neck. Something was wrong, aside from the fact that her father was now dead. She was being followed.
Without finishing her meal, she vanished back into the crowd of people. The breath of air flowing through her body. The moisture of her own sweat beading up on her skin. The fiery gaze of the sun lighting everything underneath ablaze. And of course, the infinite ocean of sand surrounding her in every direction. Everything was right there, around her, and if she even realized it, she would be able to sense all of it.
But Mei was focused on poking a scorpion on the desert floor with a twig, crouching and looking at it from over her knees. There wasn’t really a whole lot to do in the desert, besides finding the necessary food and water to stay alive and trying to get the sand out of all their belongings. So she found ways to keep herself occupied, like practicing her bending, or reading through some of the few dusty old books that they actually kept while moving around, or poking at a scorpion, which she was trying to decide whether it was actually edible or not. She’d never seen this particular coloration before, or at least as far as she could remember. She drew most of the animals she encountered in the desert, so it often stuck in her memory the finer details of what an animal looked like, but since it wasn’t like her ink came in different colors she seldom needed to keep track of something’s color.
Shrugging, in a sudden burst of violent action she smashed a fist into the head of the scorpion, the metal on her gauntlets protecting her from the retaliatory sting. She picked up the dead arthropod by the tail and slipped it into one of her many pockets, before standing up to look at the sun setting in the horizon.
It was almost as if the solar object were dying, but determined to not go without a fight, spread its majestic power and bright hues across the entire sky in a final show of power. The sky was a clash of blues and reds, forming a spectrum of colors that Mei took a moment to marvel at. This spectacle didn’t happen all too often, and she’d learned to appreciate it despite how beautiful the skies always were over the desert. When she was little, her mother had told her stories about the cities, that mankind’s light was so strong that it often blocked out the light of the heavens. But since she’d never seen said cities for herself, she could only imagine now how such a city might look.
She missed her mom.
The sun going down reminded her she had a camp that she needed to go back to. Taking a deep breath, Mei broke into a dash before taking a short jump forward. The sands under her feet as she landed shifted, rocketing her forward along the rolling hills of the desert. Sandsurfing. Only when the colors and shadows of dusk covered the rather obvious trail that was produced did she travel this way, lest she draw the attention of some less savory crowds. Raiders didn’t used to be a huge problem, since most of the tribes were at least honorable to each other, but with the production of new technology people could now more easily afford to brave the merciless sands of Si Wong.
Spotting a tiny speck of color in the distance, she altered her course slightly and came to a stop by running a couple circles around some cacti with fruits on them. Cactus pears were a treat for sure out in the arid desert, but they were a bit tricky to deal with because of their spiky hairs. It was yet another one of the many reasons she had her special gauntlets on.
Harvesting a couple, she continued her journey back home, watching the sky gradually shift to the cold blanket of night as countless stars came to life. She shivered as the temperature dropped rapidly, thankful that at least the darkness let her see that she wasn’t far from the fires of her tribe’s camp.
She came to a stop before reaching the leather tents and covered sand-sailers and walked the remaining distance to where a small group of children rushed out to meet her.
“Hey, Mei! Look what I learned today!”
A young boy took a stance and stuck his arms out. With a rather comical expression of focus on his face, he slowly managed to lift a nearby rock a couple inches into the air before letting his arms drop and beaming with pride. A girl next to him pouted.
“That’s not that cool! Look what I can do now!” She quickly took a slightly different stance, but rushed through her motions with some fluidity unlike how much effort the boy had expended. A small wave of sand rose from behind her and completely covered her, also showering sand over the whole group, including Mei, who quickly covered her face.
“HEY! Watch it!” The boy was looking pretty annoyed by the unexpected introduction of sand to his clothes, and angrily walked over to the girl, who also squared off as if ready to fight.
Mei laughed and put a hand on both of their shoulders.
“Whoa, whoa, easy there guys. Wen, Lei Yin, you were both impressive, okay? I’m glad you’re learning a lot. All of you.” Wen and Lei Yin stopped their shows of aggression and looked up at Mei eagerly.
“Yeah! We’re learning a lot because we want to be like you, Mei. The adults say you’re really good at bending.” Mei smiled sheepishly.
“Umm… I don’t know about that one. But thanks anyway. I’m sure you’ll be better than me soon enough.”
She listened to some of the other stories that the kids had for that day a bit longer before someone came calling for her.
“Mei! There you are.”
Mei looked up to see her dad coming over to where she was. You honestly couldn’t even tell that he was her dad if it wasn’t for the graying roots in his rather crazy hair, more like her older brother maybe. Baifen sure acted like he was a lot younger than he was, pulling off crazy stunts like riding a sand shark or sandsurfing through a sandstorm. But when it came to his daughter, he definitely acted like a father. A very, very overprotective one.
She winced slightly as he crushed her in a large hug.
“I told you to be back before sundown, not in the middle of the night! Keep it up, and maybe I’ll just have to go with you when you head out!”
“Dad, the sun literally just set. And I found some prickly pears along the way, so that took some of my time.”
Sure, he was a bit overbearing at times, but Mei just let him act the way he did without being too exasperated. She understood why he was so worried when she was away for too long, why he was so afraid of losing her. She felt the same way when he was gone too long as well, or when he was again doing one of his infamous stunts. Her mother’s death had been especially hard on him, perhaps even more so than it had been for her. She’d been so much younger and less mature at the time that she could barely comprehend the loss, he’d just lost a lifelong partner.
“Well, get those over to the fire and we’ll burn off the hairs so you can enjoy it in the morning. You head off and get some sleep tonight, we have a big day tomorrow. Can’t have our ace sandbender be tired now, can we?”
Right, they had that whole trade thing they did at an oasis village every now and then. Honestly, when he’d first called her that, she’d thought he was just being a supportive dad, since she really didn’t see that much of a difference between her own bending and others. But it seemed like the other adults respected her abilities as well, and with her father being essentially the tribe’s leader, she was just given that much more attention. And that made her nervous. She supposed that being a risk taker had benefits sometimes, which was why her father often called the shots, but she wondered if sometimes the other tribe elders were just too afraid to reel him in.
Saying goodnight to her dad, she headed off to their family tent. It was nothing too fancy, just a nice, spacious inside with rugs laid out on the ground and some intermediary fabrics held up as walls. She normally slept in a little room she made for herself by rearranging some of the “walls”, while her father slept wherever there was space enough to lay out the two-person sleeping arrangement they’d kept even after her mother’s death. Just another way of remembering her.
Since water was obviously a luxury in the desert, washing up for the night consisted of her brushing herself down with some of the sand mixed with floral oils. Maybe if they were by a watering hole or oasis they’d be able to actually wash themselves down with water, even take a bath depending on how much water there was, but that was extremely rare. That was part of the reason she was looking forward to visiting the oasis town tomorrow, since an abundance of water meant not only that but also being able to quench the constant thirst that she was so used to dealing with. That, and being able to trade with the world beyond was always exciting for her. She still had some of the books her mother had carried around, ones that detailed stories about the four nations and all sorts of different travels by multitudes of people. About half of them were about a legendary figure known as the Avatar, who could bend all four elements and bring peace to a world in turmoil.
She pulled some of them out now to reread for the thousandth time before sleeping.
But she knew, deep down, that as real as they might be, to her they were just stories. She’d probably live her life like she always had, scavenging, riding the sand-sailers across the dunes, trading for supplies, dying, and buried to be swept away by the sands as was the custom amongst her people. It wasn’t like she was unhappy living in Si Wong Desert, since it was all she’d ever really known, and really she was scared of any big change. But occasionally, just occasionally, she’d wistfully think about the stories her mother had told her, especially about a place known as Republic City.
Mei’s thoughts faded to black as the last thing she thought about was her mother’s face in vivid detail, and a tear slipped down her cheek. Whether it was for her mother or something more, she didn’t know.
