INTRO

FULL NAME: Remus Varick
NICKNAME(S): Remy, Rem, Varick
AGE: 24
GENDER: Male
SEXUALITY: Heterosexual
ELEMENT: Aqua Prodigium
OCCUPATION: Gryphus Leader

APPEARANCE

HEIGHT: 5'11"
WEIGHT: 168lbs
EYE COLOR: light brown
HAIR COLOR: dark brown

HAIR STYLE: Remy has a head full of thick, dark brown hair. He generally likes keeping it short, otherwise it gets in the way. He lets his hair grow into its natural shape and flow, never bothering to put any product in it.

MODIFICATIONS: Remy's Mark of the Prod is located in the middle of his left forearm, which is standard for all Prodigium.
On his back, he has the Aqua elemental symbol tattooed to the left of his spine. Across from it, on the right side of his spine, is the Ventus symbol, which he got after his mother's death. Directly below it lies the Terra symbol, which he got after his father's death. Across from that, on the left side of his spine and directly below the Aqua symbol lies the Fulmen symbol, which he got after his sister was captured. The 4 symbols make a square shape between his shoulder blades.
Various scars criss-cross his body from years of rough-living in Lutum and the desert wastelands.

PHYSIQUE: Remy is lean and muscular from years of combat training, physical training, and elemental usage. He is not particularly buff or bulky, but he is rather toned and sinewy.

ATTIRE: Remy tends to dress in plain, solid colors such as simple T-shirts or joggers (while inside the base.) He prefers comfortable, loose clothing that don't restrict his movements. When he leaves the base, he will put on a pair of jeans along with a pair of sturdy, dark brown boots.
PERSONALITY

POSITIVE TRAITS
- Passionate: Beneath Remy's cooler exterior beats an intensely feeling heart. When he is caught up in something exciting and interesting, such as a new project, he can leave everything else in the dust. His demeanor tends to be energetic and good-natured.

- Curious & Practical: Remy loves to explore and learn with his hands and eyes. He touches and examines the world around him with cool rationalism and spirited curiosity. He loves getting his hands dirty by pulling things apart and putting them back together. His favorite projects generally involve working on his dirt bike, trying to customize it and improve it bit by bit. Moving from project to project, he enjoys building things, both useful and superfluous, just for the fun of it.

- Spontaneous: Remy tends to follow his feelings in the moment which can come in spurts. His energy and moods fluctuate, leading him to suddenly suggest certain activities, places to go, and things to do. He loves novelty and trying new things.

- Great in a Crisis: With all this hands-on creativity and spontaneity, Remy is a natural in crisis situations. He enjoys a little physical risk, and he isn't afraid to get his hands dirty when the situation calls for it. Thinking quickly on his feet, he can generally come up with a solution to sudden problem. His relaxed nature allows him to live in the moment and go with the flow.

- Protective & Committe: Remy is furiously loyal and protective to the people and things he devotes himself to. This includes both family/friends as well as the overall Gryphus mission. When he is committed to something or someone, he won't let anything else stand in the way.

NEGATIVE TRAITS
- Stubborn: As easily as Remy can go with the flow, he can also ignore it entirely and move in another direction with little apology or sensitivity. If someone tries to change his habits, lifestyle or ideas through criticism, he can become quite blunt in his irritation. He is deeply set in his beliefs and values, and he will likely not budge for anything or anyone.

- Insensitive: Emotional sensitivity is not his strong suit and sometimes when he tries to be empathize with someone, his words do not come out the way he intends them to. He can be quite dense when it comes to other people's feelings and generally needs things spelled out for him.

- Risky & Impulsive: Remy despises rules and structured environments. Truly a free spirit at heart, he hates being told what to do or what not to do. His impulsivity and lack of fear towards danger means that he sometimes finds himself in situations where he is in trouble. However, as long as those he cares about are safe, he does not mind being in harm's way.

- Self-Critical: He can expect so much from himself that he inevitably falls short. When this happens, he may accuse himself of being selfish or woefully inadequate. This self-criticism can erode his motivation to lead, get things done, and prioritize necessary self-care.

- Skeptical: It's hard for Remy to truly trust someone and often questions other people's motivations. Thus, he is difficult to get to know and keeps his personal matters to himself, and often just prefer silence to small talk around new people.

BACKGROUND

FAMILY OVERVIEW

Remus Varick was born on May 31, 706 in a mainly Prodigium neighborhood in the Auster division (#3) of the Lutum district. He grew up in a family with two loving parents, Ricardis and Rosalina, along with an older sister named Rhea, who was 4 years older than him. Ricardis was a Terra Prodigium, who secretly used his abilities to fix the constant infrastructure issues in their house, given the extremely low quality of the houses in their neighborhood. He and Rosalina, who was a Ventus Prodigium, ran a small agriculture supplies store, selling plant fertilizer, nutritious soil, garden supplies, and farming tools. Ricardis would use his Terra magic at home to enchant the soil into becoming healthy and nutritious. Although the local Prodigium suspected that the Varick family was using magic to enchant their supplies, they certainly were not complaining, as this allowed them to grow healthy, nutritious food in their own gardens.

Remy's older sister, Rhea, developed into a strong Fulmen Prodigium when she hit puberty. She was always very protective of her little brother and they became very close. She showed him all the hidden spots around town, places to get the best deals at, and introduced him to her other Prod friends. With the classic personality of Fulmen magic, Rhea was electric- she had a strong, bold, ambitious personality who would never take no for an answer. She was not only very intelligent with her school studies and educating herself with library books in her free time, but she was also smart about hiding her magic and training her powers to become stronger. Rhea was always the most angry in their family- angry at the Imperium government who put them in Lutum, angry at the Imperium people who turned their backs on the Prodigium when they had spent centuries helping and guarding their communities, angry at the local military patrols who do nothing but bully the Prods, and angry at the other weak Prodigium who had submitted to their helpless situation.

Remy, on the other hand, was the more cheerful, good-natured, and calmer of the pair. Being the youngest in the family, his parents and older sister tried their best to protect him and his innocent childhood from the harsh realities of their world for as long as possible. But eventually, the harsh world would come knocking on his door.

VENTUS

In 714, Remy was 8 years old when he was at their family shop helping his father sell. The door slammed open as several local military soldiers barged into their small shop. "Ricardis Varick?" A tall, gruff man stormed over to Remy's father and slammed his hands onto the table. The man's hostile, ice blue eyes glared it Ricardis.
"That's me," Ricardis answered steadily, holding his gaze.
"You're being charged with Mandate 13. We have evidence that your shop has been using magic. As you know, the punishment is hand amputation," the lead soldier dictated sternly. "Seize him!" He commanded his patrol. The other men quickly moved forward and grabbed Ricardis, tying his hands together behind his back. Ricardis tried to struggle free by tripping one of the soldiers with his feet, leading the soldier to stumble over. As a result, his fellow solider punched Ricardis in eye, leading to a painful shout.
"No, stop!" Remy shouted, his wide eyes filled with fear as he looked up at the tall, scary men. "Please! Don't hurt him!"
The lead soldier looked down at the little boy and smirked, a coldness in his eyes. "You better do as we say or your son will pay for it," he threatened Ricardis. Remy's father's eyes widened and he instantly went still, allowing the patrol to take him away.

Suddenly, a strong blast of air struck the door as it flew across the room, completely unhinged. There, in the door way, Rosalina stood with fury in her eyes. "It was me. I was the one who used magic, not him. Ricardis has never used his powers," she claimed. She lifted her palm and pointed it at the lead soldier, directing a strong blast of wind towards his chest and knocking him off his feet.
"Seize her at once!" The lead soldier shouted angrily. His patrol let go of Ricardis and charged towards Rosalina, grabbing her arms and tying them behind her back. "Let's get out of this fucked up shithole," he spat, leaving their shop with Rosalina. "Her hand amputation will be tomorrow in the public square," he added, smirking back at Remy and Ricardis.

The military patrol forced Ricardis and his two children to attend Rosalina's hand amputation, where a guillotine brutally severed both hands from her wrists as the public watched. Remy covered his eyes and tried to drown out his mother's painful screams. After that, his mother was never the same again. A once bright, cheery woman fell into a deep, cold depression. She wouldn't leave her room, choosing to sit in her rocking chair and stare out the window all day.

As a result, Rhea and Remy took over all the household chores when they weren't at school, including helping their mother dress herself, bathe, and all other actions that would typically require hands. Meanwhile, their father worked the shop alone. Anyone who tried to speak with Rosalina wouldn't receive so much as a glance in their direction. Soon enough, she fell gravely ill, going from never leaving her room to never leaving her bed. The local doctor didn't know what was wrong with her, only that it seemed like she had lost her will to live. One night, while everyone else was asleep, Rosalina passed away, dreaming of being amongst the winds once again.

GRIFFIN

The next year (in 715), after the rest of the Varick family had properly grieved the passing of Rosalina, Remy's father turned his grief, rage, guilt, and confusion into sheer determination. At first, he and his other Prodigium friends banded together to secretly use their powers and help the local Prods, such as purifying the local water source via Aqua Prods, fixing broken electrical circuits to the heating/air-conditioning units via Fulmen Prods, and nutrifying crops/gardens for a better harvest via Terra Prods. Their ragtag band of friends was becoming a sort of vigilante group in the Lutum district. As more and more Prods asked to join, Ricardis realized they could grow this team into something bigger, something that could take down the government.

The first thing they needed was a base to plan their operations and strategize away from the eyes of the military but more importantly, a private place where they could train and hone their powers. Conveniently, they lived adjacent to the most unwelcoming place in all of Imperium: the Desert Wastelands, where no one would dare enter without real reason or intense preparation. Ricardis and his best friend, Dominic, who was another Terra Prodigium, worked together to form an underground hidden bunker in the middle of the desert. With the help of a Fulmen Prod and Aqua Prod, they were able to bring electricity and running water into the base. To honor the origin of their powers, they coined their insurgence team the Gryphus and donned the griffin on their flag. The new Griffins moved their families to the new base, where their children, including Remy and Rhea, both studied typical school subjects and trained their growing powers.

AQUA

Remy moved to the Gryphus base when he was 9 years old and he spent the rest of his childhood/adolescence there. As a child, he has fond memories of wrestling around in the desert dust with the other Gryphus boys, running around the base playing hide and seek, begging the older Aqua Prodigium to build them a water slide, and generally being up to no good. While his father was busy running their rebel organization and his sister was busy training to become the best Fulmen Prodigium she could be, Remy was free of most expectations and allowed to spend his days doing whatever he pleased. Especially when his sister realized that she could also wield Spacial powers, a coveted mythic ability, Rhea was on a one-track mind to become the most powerful Prodigium she could. She spent all her time training and studying, knowing that she would one day take over the Gryphus leadership role once their father retired.

As Remy got older, Caliban, the Ignis Gryphus Educator, started to encourage the children to explore which element they felt the strongest connection with. Even from a young age, Remy knew he took after his mother as a Ventus Prodigium. A free spirit at heart, he loved the way the winds twisted and turned, flowing through the sky with a certain carefreeness. Similarly, a close second choice was the Aqua element, as he felt drawn towards the adaptability and calmness of the water. However, he still felt that deep down he was meant to be a Ventus Prod.

One day, when Remy was 13 years old (in 719), it was a record-breaking hot and dry summer day in the desert at the end of July. The Gryphus adults were on a mission to the Lutum district to fill the local water tank, as the water supply had depleted completely due the particular dryness of that summer. All of the Aqua Prodigium were needed on this mission in order to safely and efficiently fill the entire water tank in the shortest amount of time without exhausting anyone. Remy stayed at the base along with Caliban and the other Gryphus teenagers/children.

Suddenly, they began to smell smoke burning from the mechanical room. When they opened the door to investigate, a searing hot breath of fire emerged from the room, as one of the electrical circuits had caught on fire. Being an Ignis Prodigium, Caliban would only make things worse and none of the other Gryphus teenagers had formally begun their training yet. The fire spread viciously through the corridors, swallowing up anything in its path. Remy stood at the end of the hallway, his heart pounding and adrenaline rushing through his veins. His eyes fixated on the fire charging towards him and ignored Caliban's cries to get out of the way. He lifted both of his palms towards the fire and closed his eyes, taking in a deep breath and focusing all of his mental energy onto his hands. He felt the ocean within him, waves lapping back and forth inside. Just as the fire was upon him, ready to consume its next victim, the surging river traveled up his core and down his arms, blasting out from his hands. The hose of water continued to blast out of him as Remy rained down on any remaining flames.

Amazed by the big feat at such a young age, Caliban relayed in heroic detail everything that had happened to the Gryphus Circle. "He was destined to be an Aqua Prodigium," he claimed. Gryphus was in desperate need of more Aqua Prodigium, given their location in the desert, the constant need for water, and fight against the dry heat. Although Ricardis knew that his son had always favored the Ventus element, he asked if Remy could pursue the Aqua path instead. Remy felt like he had just closed the door on a piece of his soul, but he knew that this was the right thing to do, and so he agreed.

TERRA

Remy spent the remaining part of his adolescence training hard in the ways of Aqua magic. He helped keep the Gryphus base water supply clean and full (as well as the local Lutum water tank) and helped create ice to preserve frozen foods. He was encouraged by his formidable sister, who was the best Fulmen Prodigium and the only Spacial Prodigium Gryphus had, viewing her as a role model. He generally spent his free time riding dirt bikes in the desert with his best friend, Adrian, and his girlfriend at the time, Cassia. He loved customizing his own bikes and putting different parts together to see what they would do. Carefree and adventurous, the three of them would go on whatever adventures they could find and often snuck out of Gryphus base to enter gambling tournaments in Lutum (under different aliases of course.)

In the fall of 724, when Remy was 18, Ricardis and a couple Griffins went into downtown Lutum for a supply refill when they heard screaming and felt the ground shaking. A tall nearby apartment building had recently been built in record speed, as the district was in desperate need for more housing. However, the rushed construction had now led to the impending collapse of the entire building. Determined to save the hundreds of residents panicking inside the building, Ricardis channeled every drop of his magical energy into the infrastructure to stabilize the falling pieces and strengthen the building's foundation. Although he was successful, the feat drained every last ounce of his mind, body, and soul from him. Despite protests from the other Gryhus members, he didn't stop and the Terra magic fully consumed him. He turned to stone right in front of them and everyone else who was watching.

Horrified, the Griffins quickly covered him with a tattered rag and carried him back to the Desert Wastelands, but rumors of a Prodigium turning into a stone statue had already spread like wildfire amongst the local Lutum residents. As the apartment building was mainly filled with non-Prodigium residents, Ricardis' sacrifice began to change the perspective of the locales and improve the Prodigium reputation. Gryphus placed Ricardis' statue next to their main spirit house, located in a quiet prayer room in their base, so that all future Griffins would remember and honor him.

Remy was heartbroken to see his father carried back to base that day as a stone statue. Anger against the government boiled up inside him like he had never felt before. As his mother's death happened at such a young age, he wasn't quite able to process every feeling. Seeing his father as a statue as well as the entire Prodigium population suffer every day blended together into a mix of rage. However, his fury was nothing like Rhea's, whose electric blast of rage exploded an entire sand dune nearby. She wasted no time taking over their father's leadership role and trying to keep the Gryphus morale up. Some were crushed by their leader's death and took this as a sign that the mission was too dangerous and moved back to Lutum. However, as Ricardis was now a martyr, the ones who remained were more determined and fervered than ever.

FULMEN

While Remy grieved their father's death and dealt with the boiling anger from losing both his parents, Rhea reacted by pouring herself into being the new Gryphus leader. This leadership role fit Rhea like a glove- after all, she had been training her whole life for this. As Remy was still traumatized as a child, watching his mother get taken away by military soldiers then being at her hand amputation, his father's stone statue was a constant brutal reminder of the dangers of magic. He turned more cautious and timid wielding magic and began to almost fear the powers he had within him. On the other hand, Rhea only grew more enraged and vengeance-driven than ever to take down Imperium. While Ricardis was focused on creating peace and harmony with the Imperium people, Rhea wanted to see them burn. She couldn't ever forgive the other citizens for turning their backs on her and her people.

Five years after Ricardis' death in March 729, when Remy was 23, Rhea was walking in the local Lutum district with two other Griffins when they passed by a dark alleyway. A man was on the ground, shouting for help, as his leg was stuck under a heavy shipment box that had fallen. Looking closer, she recognized the man as her old neighbor from when the Varick family used to live in Lutum. "Mr. Flynn!" She ran deep into the hidden alleyway and rushed over to him, the two Griffins following closely. The man's eyes widened as he recognized Rhea as the little girl who had once lived next to him. "No! Get out of here! I didn't know it was you, I swear!" He yelled at her with panic in his eyes, urging her to leave. Before Rhea could react, she felt someone behind her and turned around. Three hooded men had appeared out of the shadows of the alley. They each held a pistol in their hand, pointed at Rhea and her friends.

"Run!" Rhea shouted at her two friends as she struck a small bolt of lightning towards one of the hooded men's pistols, trying to disarm him. "Hurry, get out of here! I'll hold them off," she said, preparing for her next electric attack. The other two Griffins began to sprint away down the other side of the alleyway as fast as they could. Two of the men started shooting in their direction while the last man charged towards Rhea. Rhea tried dodging his attack and used her other hand to direct piercing sparks of electricity towards the men shooting at her friends, trying to misdirect their aim. She heard a shout of pain when one of her friends was shot in the arm but let out a breath of relief as she heard both set of running footsteps disappear into the distance. The first man who had charged at her grabbed both her hands and handcuffed them together, putting a tight rubber bag around her hands so that she couldn't use her Fulmen magic. Looking once over her shoulder to make sure that her friends had indeed got away, Rhea was forced into the back of a black van and driven away.

Remy was out for a dirt bike ride when the two Gryphus friends came running back to base, reporting everything that had happened in detail. When Remy heard that his sister had been captured, his entire world started to spin. A mixture of denial, anger, frustration, guilt, and helplessness swirled around inside him as he realized that he was the only one left in his family. During the first two months, he was an aimless mess. Whereas in the past he only drank socially, he started drinking alone every night, falling asleep in a drunk stupor. He confronted the two Griffins who left his sister about why they didn't help her, calling them cowards. He started hooking up with his ex-girlfriend, Cassia, again, even though he knew it was a bad idea in the long run. He spent hours locked up in the prayer room, talking to his father's statue until it was too painful. He even went into Lutum to confront his old neighbor about what a terrible traitor he was. But none of this brought Rhea back. The loss of another leader was a huge hit to Gryphus morale, and this time, there was no one to fill her place. Many Griffins left the organization to return to Lutum once again, and Remy didn't do anything to stop them. He himself had given up hope too.

At the end of those two months, the anger and desperation battering against his insides turned into a goal- he was going to get his sister back. And in order to do so, he needed the help of Gryphus. Remy called a town hall meeting with the remaining 100 Griffins. He wasn't as inspirational or eloquent of a speaker as his father nor sister had been, but they could sense the sincerity and determination radiating off of him. The Gryphus Circle felt that it was only right for Remy to take the place as their new leader, a vote that passed with an easy majority. They were going to take down the Imperium government, but more importantly, Remy was also going to rescue his sister along the way.
POWERS- AQUA MAGIC

STATS: 7.5/10

STRENGTHS: Growing up training every day at the Gryphus base, Remy has grown into a strong Aqua Prodigium. He is extremely well-versed in all the housekeeping tasks, as this is what he first started doing as a young teenager. This includes keeping the water supply clean and full at both the Gryphus base and local Lutum district, freezing water into ice to preserve foods, and putting out any fires that may arise due to the high desert temperatures. In combat, Remy is a formidable opponent as well, as he has spent many years training how to use his abilities to attack, defend, buff, and trick. This includes direct water blasts, tall waterfall shields, sharp icicle attacks, and vision-clouding fog.

WEAKNESSES: Aside from general and element-specific drawbacks to using Aqua magic, Remy became more cautious and timid in his abilities after his father turned to stone. Traumatized by his mother's punishment for using magic at a young age, he is afraid to lose his own Aqua powers. As a result, this fear can affect his performance in combat and cause him to overthink. His self-confidence in being an Aqua Prodigium has gradually dropped over the years.

RELATIONSHIPS

RHEA VARICK - OLDER SISTER: Remy looks up to Rhea and admires her strength, courage, and determination. She has always been his role model and very protective of him. Although they have very different personalities, he always went to her for advice or emotional support. Her sudden disappearance broke Remy to pieces and it took months for him to put himself back together. The only reason he did so at all was the determination to rescue her.

ADRIAN GAVROS- BEST FRIEND: When Adrian first joined Gryphus, he was drawn towards Remy immediately, the quieter and shyer version of himself. They were both fun-loving, adventurous boys who were always up to no good. Their shared trauma and loss of family only strengthened their bond, especially after Remy lost his father. Their bond is as close as blood brothers and there is nothing one would not do for the other. However, when Remy and Cassia started dating, Adrian saw less of them, as he was friends with both. After their breakup, Adrian found himself caught in the middle. As the boys grew older, they spent more time riding dirt bikes together and going into Lutum to gamble. That is, until Remy became leader.

CASSIA FLORENS- EX-GIRLFRIEND: Remy and Cass have a complicated relationship. He was immediately attracted to her when she first joined Gryphus at age 15. Adrian, being the social butterfly that he was, introduced himself and Remy to her and Cass joined their duo, becoming a close trio of friends. Eventually, Cass and Remy began dating at age 16. The first year of their relationship was truly a honeymoon- he couldn't imagine himself happier. Once the second year hit, however, he began to notice how different their values were and how they were not as compatible as he initially thought. When his father died at age 18, he found out that Cassia's mother had been in Lutum with Ricardis but chose to run away once the apartment started falling. Remy viewed this as abandonment while Cassia viewed it as the smart, right choice. This argument broke up their already tense relationship for good. Although things were awkward for a bit after, after a few years had passed and both had grown into adults, they were able to have some semblance of their friendship back along with Adrian- the trio.
After his sister was captured, Remy was a wreck and sought emotional connection with Cassia again. This led to them hooking up consistently, even though Remy knew this was not a good idea in the long run. Sure enough, they began fighting on and off again. Once Remy became Gryphus leader, he broke things off with her, determined to be the best leader he could with no distractions. Cass, however, was very hurt by this, as she was hoping to get back together.

DOMINIC ANTONIUS- "UNCLE": As Dominic was Ricardis' best friend, he has always been like an uncle to Remy, ever since he was a kid. After Ricardis died, Dominic really stepped into that fatherly/uncle role for Remy and Rhea. Perhaps he felt guilty that he wasn't there to help Ricardis stabilize the apartment building, being a Terra Prodigium himself, and taking care of his kids was a road to redemption. After Rhea was captured, Dominic made sure he was there for Remy, knowing that his sister's disappearance would break him. He consistently encouraged Remy to take over Gryphus leadership, as he strongly believed that he was the only one who could do the job. Dominic took over as acting leader to prevent the other Circle members from taking the spot, keep the seat warm for Remy. Finally, after a couple months, Remy was ready to step up as leader. He continues to depend on Dominic for support and fatherly advice.

CALIBAN DELPHOS- TEACHER: Caliban was Remy's teacher growing up and taught him everything he knew about magic. He is the one who encouraged Remy to become an Aqua Prodigium after he saw how he put out the fires in the base as a teenager. He highly respects Caliban and his opinions, as the man is very well-read and knowledgeable on multiple subjects. Remy enjoys spending time with his old teacher- they share a love for cooking and playing music as a guitar and flute duet.

CLEO VULCAN- RIVAL: As Cleo was one of Rhea's close friends, she could only ever view Remy as a little kid and not fit to be a leader. After Rhea was captured, she tried to fill her void on the Circle by attempting to become the next leader. Dominic, however, prevented that by happening, as he ultimately still held the heart of the Griffins. When Remy became the new leader, Cleo found it hard to take him seriously and questioned many of his decisions. She still has a soft spot for him, being Rhea's little brother, but she draws a hard dividing line between work and personal feelings. This allows her to challenge him without feeling guilty during their Circle meetings. Remy disagrees with many of her viewpoints and finds it frustrating that she tries to undermine him.

ELEMENT: Ignis Prodigium; Spacial Prodigium
OCCUPATION: Spectare Agent

APPEARANCE

HEIGHT: 5'5"
WEIGHT: 115 lbs
EYE COLOR: dark brown
HAIR COLOR: black/dark brown

HAIR STYLE: Black-brown hair that is perpetually tousled, caught between wavy and frizzy. She keeps it tied up when active, and loose in more casual settings.

DEFINING MARKINGS: She has two distinct moles on her left cheek, and she freckles when exposed to the sun. As her forearms are covered in numerous burn scars of various degrees of severity, she typically keeps them wrapped up or under long sleeves. While she did receive a Mark of the Prod on her left forearm as she entered Project Phoenix, it is deformed and largely hidden by the burns traversing her arms. She has numerous other scars littering her body, from knife wounds to bullet wounds--proof of her long years of training and harrowing occupation.

ATTIRE: Her clothing is kept as neutral and mundane as possible in order to blend in, though her wardrobe can change drastically depending on the role she plays. As Livia, she often favors oversized jackets that can be useful for hiding her physique and the tools of her trade. She is picky about her shoes, however, and chooses sturdy boots with a comfortable insole that can weather just about anything.
PERSONALITY

POSITIVE TRAITS
- Perceptive & Adaptive: As required for one of the Spectare, she reads between the lines quickly and has the ability to catch on to underlying situations easily. She changes tactics according to situations, and puts on the mask that will most benefit the mission and keep things on track.

- Efficient & Pragmatic: She’s quick to understand what needs to be done and acts on it without flinching; she doesn’t add needless frills to plans or objectives, and makes do with the bare minimum. She is able to make difficult decisions without letting emotions or guilt hindering her choices.

- Detail Oriented & Thorough: She has a keen eye for detail, something that has been a boon to her career in the Spectare. She is the type to thoroughly prepare for missions--though she has learned to be adaptable, she doesn’t like to wing things, rather preferring to outline multiple background plans to use in the case of something going awry. It’s not in her to do things half-way, and she is careful and strategic.

- Calm & Steady: Difficult to faze, she reacts to events both mundane and extreme with composure. It’s her ability to stay calm and level-headed in any situation that has saved her skin multiple times in operations. She is most impassive in the midst of combat.

- Determined & High-achieving: Failure has never been an option to her, and when she is given an assignment or an expectation, she will exceed it, no matter what. It is her determination and drive that has taken her higher, rather than her natural talent. She spares no effort and even takes drastic measures to see that whatever is asked of her is done, a trait the Spectare especially value.

NEGATIVE TRAITS
- Lack of Identity & Agency: Having spent a lifetime having choices made for her and following strict rules, she no longer has a sense of agency as an individual. She follows orders to a tee--that’s all there is to it. Likewise, she doesn’t truly know who she is as a person aside from the roles that have been given to her. Like an actress on the stage, she acts the roles out to perfection, but when the curtains fall and the masks come off, there is nothing there to fill the void.

- Calculating & Detached: The reason she is able to be so pragmatic is because she doesn’t process the situation emotionally. She doesn’t let human suffering affect her, and is always thinking about what will benefit the mission over anything else. Every interaction, no matter how innocuous, is dissected and studied to see what can be gained from it, and every word she utters is also measured and designed for a certain purpose.

- Perfectionistic: Her overriding desire to meet every expectation set out for her perfectly has indeed allowed her to rise in rank and polish her skills to admirable heights, but it is also one of her biggest weaknesses. She is more than willing to push herself past her limits to achieve what must be done, even to reckless and self-destructive extremes. Predictably, failure is something she fears more than death itself, and she can’t handle the threat of failure.

- Emotionally Stunted: Unless she is playing a part, she is noted to be rather distant and cool, unable to express affection and warmth. In fact, she is rarely able to express any of her emotions, as she appears to be void of any genuine ones. As she views emotions to be unnecessary and as a dangerous flaw for a specter to possess, this doesn’t seem to bother her.

- Morally Grey: ‘Morally grey’ is a gracious understatement. Her detachment and pragmatism and willingness to do whatever it takes to successfully complete her mission means that she has no qualms about betraying what most would consider honest, just, or good. She lies as easily as she breathes, and her job as a Hand means that she has been part of many horrible operations that cost innocent lives.

BACKGROUND

HEIRESS

Minerva Lene Silvius was born in the summer of Year 706 to Severina and Emericus Silvius, an extremely wealthy couple living in the heart of the Aurum District. The couple had wed in a most extravagant ceremony in the winter of Year 705, but her birth was kept quiet until three months afterwards. Though Minerva’s early life was one filled with the most extravagant luxury, it was also structured to a militant degree, with each and every detail of her life carefully planned and scrutinized by the critical eye of her mother.

Her mother had the best tutors and instructors brought in from the Imperial City to teach her at home, not wanting her daughter to waste time with frivolous matters away from her watchful presence. Minerva was schooled in every subject and extensive amounts of other ‘refined’ arts, including fine arts, ballet, and foreign languages. Her days were packed to bursting, and the young girl was never left idle or alone.

Her father was mostly absent, tending to business matters in the Imperial City for long stretches of time, and each time he returned it was regarded as a special event. Her mother would redecorate and fuss over every plate and tablecloth, sending the large estate into a frenzy in preparation, and Minerva was not exempt from this. If anything, these homecoming parties would be the battleground where her merit would be measured; she was made to perform for these events, reciting classical latin epics, putting on a ballet recital, performing classics on the piano and the like. Her teachers and tutors would be brought in to gush about how exceptional of a student she was while she sat with her hands folded neatly over her perfect dress, smiling a perfect smile.

Perfect, perfect, perfect--yes, she was perfect. She was well-mannered and calm, never seen without a charming smile, and was obedient to every command that came her way. Indeed, she was the pinnacle of a little heiress--talented, intelligent, cultured, and poised--more like a miniature adult than a young child. And yet, it never seemed enough. Being perfect, being useful, she had been led to believe, would get her the love and attention she so craved from her parents, but it was never enough.

All of her achievements and dazzling performances would garner little more than a nod and dismissive pat on her head from her father, who always seemed far away. Accordingly finding her wanting each time, her mother would then lash out cruelly, growing more and more frigid. Severina blamed her for being useless and a failure--there was no other reason that her father would not give her mother the attention she wanted. For all of her efforts, her father spent more and more time in the Imperial City, especially once the new Principate was installed, and the already strained relationship between her parents began to unravel in earnest--slowly at first, then all too quickly.

When her parents’ marriage finally came to an end in the fall of Year 712, her father moved permanently to the Imperial City. Severina intended to relocate to the Adamas District, but she had no intention of bringing young Minerva along. On a beautifully brisk autumn morning, six-year-old Minerva was deposited upon the doorstep of the Liberi Home in Aurum District without so much as a kiss on the cheek.

ORPHAN

Suddenly abandoned and bereft of her singular objective, Minerva was much like a marionette with its strings cut. She went through the motions of life under the care of the Liberi Home staff; she never caused trouble, followed all the rules, did everything that was asked of her, but she showed no interest in associating with the other children. In fact, she rarely ever spoke, only speaking up when she was prompted, and did not seem to display any real emotions.

In the first two months she would spend the majority of her time motionlessly sitting in a chair, staring off into space with her hands folded neatly in her lap. The staff assumed that she was in shock by the circumstances she had been placed in, but she would not speak of it, nor did she seem to be particularly upset. Though Minerva was facing a crisis underneath the surface, her upbringing had taught her to repress and conceal any unseemly emotions.

Despite the state she was in, like a well-trained show pony, the little girl knew how to perform when put on the stage. Every course and exam that came her way was passed with flying colors, surprising the Liberi Home staff. Her consistently outstanding marks garnered the attention of other children as well, but they lost interest quickly at her cold, deadpan countenance--all except one, another young girl named Natalia. Natalia was everything Minerva was not--cheerful, loud, bursting with energy and emotions--and she seemed utterly determined to befriend the detached young girl. It was difficult to consider their relationship as a typical friendship, but Natalia rarely left her alone and Minerva seemed to tolerate the other girl’s presence well enough. Slowly, Minerva began to revert to a schedule similar to the one she had lost, keeping herself busy with studying and reading.

A month after her seventh birthday, both she and Natalia were selected along with six other highly ranked children and whisked away by a group of mysterious officials to another life.

TRAINEE

Just like all new Spectare trainees, Minerva and Natalia were erased from public records and given new names--Cyra and Evadne, respectively. The strict, brutal training that they were put through was particularly hard on Evadne, who often cried in frustration or exhaustion at night. She certainly wasn’t alone in her distress, and there were children who were unable to pass the benchmark exams, forcing them to leave the establishment in shame.

Cyra, however, seemed to thrive in the Spartan environment which now offered her a purpose in life again. She was relentless in study and training, single-minded, and had no issues following orders that made other children balk. Due to these traits, she was more often than not at the top of her classes and highly rated by her instructors--particularly Spectare Magister Scylla, who had watched over her progress from the very day she had picked her out in the Aurum Liberi Home.

Though Evadne had initially struggled to adapt to her new life, she wasn’t one to sit back and let her friend leave her behind--she too began to rise to the occasion, becoming an excellent trainee. Just like in their brief stay in the Liberi Home, the two girls were rarely seen apart. As the grueling years of training came to an end, however, so too would their bond.

SPECTER

Cyra graduated at the top of her class at age 18, becoming a fully fledged specter. As it was expected of a graduate of her caliber, she was given the position of a Hand and deployed very quickly into the field. Though she started out with smaller missions, she continued to rise among the ranks and was recruited into one of the most important operations two years later, in Year 726. She was the youngest specter in the crew sent out to steal into Nevasca, and returned again two years later to cause the events that would lead to Decree LII. Aside from these major operations, Cyra took part in dozens of other missions during the six year span, taking her all over Imperium and even to the other countries in the region. Though the life of a Hand was always filled with assignments, Cyra was notably voracious in taking on missions, catching the eye of higher-ups with each admirably executed mission. Thus, it was not surprising that when another operation of great importance began, her name was on the list of candidates.

SUBJECT 0

In the middle of Year 729, the Spectare gained a precious asset--a young female Prodigium who was none other than the leader of the rebel faction known as the Gryphus. Not only was she a skilled Fulmen Prodigium, she also possessed the rare mythic Spacial ability. Immediately, the Intelligence Consul, the Science & Research Consul, and the Spectare Primo began to work together on a top secret project. In a highly experimental procedure, they were able to come up with a theoretical method to transfer abilities via a process similar to blood transfusion. Unfortunately, the first attempt at carrying out this procedure resulted in a disastrous failure. Half of the subjects died within the week, their bodies shutting down painfully. Those who survived were rendered defunct.

Frantic to find the cause of this unforeseen side effect, the researchers soon discovered that the subjects who hadn’t died shared an amount of Prodigium DNA. They began to test their agents in order to isolate those who had the highest chance of survival. When the second trial began with ten selected subjects, Cyra was among them. Though there was no guarantee that they would survive or recover to their original health, not one agent contested their selection. Cyra spent the better part of three weeks bedridden as a war raged within her, but she survived--and unlike many others, recovered fully. Not only did she awaken to Ignis powers, it was discovered that she had also manifested the same rare mythic ability that Rhea Varick possessed. As the first fully successful subject of the procedure, she was deemed Subject 0.

With the advancement of Project Phoenix resting on her shoulders, she was given no more than three months to gain competent control over her first element, as it was deemed imperative that she be deployed to Lutum as quickly as possible. Subsequently, she trained day and night, extending her limits more and more each time. Of course, this was not without consequence. Her arms in particular took much abuse, suffering repeated burn injuries or varying severity--so much so that there isn’t a spot on her forearms that aren’t covered by scar tissue. The worst side effects, however, came from her forays into using Spacial magic. She lost consciousness multiple times, and twice she was unresponsive for over a day due to the combined fatigue, but by October of Year 729, she was dispatched to Lutum with the identity of Livia Eione.
POWERS

IGNIS MAGIC

STATS: 6/10

OVERVIEW: She awakened to Ignis magic after the transference procedure, and over the span of three months, she trained extensively to achieve competency with the skill. Unsurprisingly, most of her usages are offensive than defensive, but she uses her abilities creatively to get the most of the magic.

WEAKNESSES: Though she is fairly skilled with Ignis magic, her condensed and intensive training has made its mark on her, resulting most visibly in the prominent burns along her forearms. In addition, her body temperature seems to be a few degrees warmer to the touch than most other people. She also harbors some amount of frustration with the element itself, as she feels that it's more chaotic than other elements.

SPATIAL MAGIC

STATS: 2/10
OVERVIEW: Though many efforts were made to have her gain mastery over this magic, much is unknown about this rare skill. She is able to manipulate gravity to a small degree to enhance her movements with decent reliability, but she often considers the fatigue that follows to make the usage of it pointless. She still has trouble performing basic skills with consistency--she needs a lot of concentration for teleportation, and fatigue is immediate, usually resulting in dizziness and nosebleeds.

WEAKNESSES: Her worst side effects during her training was due to Spacial magic, including loss of consciousness. She has a lot of issues with connecting with this element, as she greatly values control and order, and the freer nature of this magic, particularly teleportation, makes this a challenging skill for her to incorporate.

RELATIONSHIPS

SEVERINA LENE ☾ MOTHER: Severina Lene was the youngest daughter of an upper middle class family living in the Argenti District. Though her family was always comfortably wealthy, Severina wanted more than just money--she wanted prestige, class, a legacy. Driven and ambitious beyond compare, she was willing to do whatever to achieve her means. Her goal was to marry into the upper class, and she dated many bachelors before setting her sights on a certain man called Emericus Silvius. They began dating casually, and soon grew intimate. Just as she felt that his interests were fading, she announced that she was pregnant with his child, securing herself a marriage.
From the beginning, Severina used her daughter as a tool to achieve her means and control her husband, and that did not stop once Minerva was born. She was domineering and critical, swinging between saccharine affection and callous frigidity. Her treatment of her daughter was the worst when she failed to meet one of her nebulous standards, quick to spit cruel remarks. Despite this, young Minerva did not know any better, and wanted more than anything to please her. In her adulthood, she has complex emotions towards her mother, who abandoned her the moment she thought she was useless. Severina went on to marry and divorce two more men, and currently resides in the Adamas District with her fourth husband and two children.

EMERICUS SILVIUS ☾ FATHER: Despite being her father, Emericus was a constantly absent figure in Minerva’s life. He spent most of his time in the Imperial City, where it was assumed he worked in corporate affairs. He was always distant and private, and she has very few memories of her father actually looking at her--truly looking at her and seeing her. Her last memory of her father was watching him leaving the estate from her bedroom window, never to return. As a child, she regarded him with a mixture of nervous fear and desire for approval, understanding full-well that his assessment of her decided how her mother would treat her. As an adult, she recognizes that he must have never wanted her, seeing her for the trap Severina had always meant her to be.

EVADNE 'EV' ☾ Childhood friend and fellow Spectare trainee: Though they were close friends throughout their training, they had a bad falling out before the graduation. Evadne ended their friendship due to what she felt was a betrayal by Cyra. They currently have an estranged relationship, and have not spoken face-to-face in six years.

VITA 'VI' ☾ GRIFFIN: A Griffin she befriended quickly upon joining the Gryphus, seeing that her easy-going and open personality would make her a convenient source of information. They spend a fair deal of time together, and other Griffins see them as good friends.

SCYLLA ☾ SPECTARE MAGISTER: The agent who has overseen nearly her whole Spectare career, from being handpicked by Scylla from the Liberi Home and all the way though over a decade of training. Cyra has a fair amount of respect for her, and Scylla also sees her as one of her brightest students. The Magister also seems to be more invested in her well-being compared to the usual care she shows for her many trainees, and she has kept in contact even after graduation.

MEDEA LINUS ☾ HANDLER: A veteran Eye who is meant to be both handler and support for Cyra while she is undercover as Livia. She herself is going by the alias of Placida Eione, pretending to be Livia's grandmother who raised her. They have a purely professional relationship, and they focus solely on the mission. Still, to the outsider, they seem like a duo that cares deeply for each other.

ARGUSTA ☾ SPECTARE PRIMO: The head of the Spectare. Cyra has received direct mission orders from Argusta a few times. Argusta has high expectations for her, and appears to see her younger self reflected in the the Hand.

Caius Tycho
Basics

affiliation— imperium government; spectare
nickname(s)— tycho
gender— male
age— presumably in his fifties
hometown— unknown
occupation— intelligence consul
height— 6'0"
interests— expensive bourbon, discreet people, shogi

Persona & Background

Not much is known about the Intelligence Consul by the general public, even though he is a public figure. Within the upper echelons of society and politics, it is assumed that he was once the Spectare Primo. Indeed, the man now known as Caius Tycho worked as the Head of the Spectare before the position of Intelligence Consul was created just for him as Principate Kato came into power.

Though it is well-known that Tycho and Principate Kato are close allies, they give off different impressions to an onlooker. Tycho presents himself as cerebral, stoic, and impassive. During Consul meetings, he is the intimidating figure sitting on the Principate's right hand side, and never raises his voice, even in heated situations. An exacting man, he is exceedingly calculated and ruthless.

Scylla has had a long and illustrious career within the Spectare, having worked for over twenty years in the field as both a Hand and an Eye even before becoming the Spectare Magister. She has held the position for nearly twenty years, handpicking potential trainees from Liberi Homes and overseeing their training. She is an elegant, soft-spoken woman, treating her students with something that nearly feels like motherly kindness and affection. However, she is a strict instructor, and does not take pity on failure, and culls inadequate trainees from the academy without flinching.

Evadne was born as Natalia Brianus in Year 705 to a young unmarried socialite, and she was quickly given up to the Liberi Home, where she grew up with all the other children. Due to her outgoing personality, she was often acting like a big sister to those around her, and was well-liked by the Liberi Home staff. When she met Minerva in Year 712, she set about trying to connect to the despondent girl, and they struck up an unlikely friendship. Their friendship continued when both girls were selected to be Spectare trainees, but ended on a sour note right before their graduation.

Evadne is currently an Eye in the Adamas District, working as a primary school teacher.

One of the most veteran Spectare agents still in the business, Medea has worked as an Eye for the majority of her life. She is a master of disguise and blending into whatever surroundings she is put into. She weaponizes her older age, playing the role of a harmless, vulnerable elderly woman to a tee. Despite her age, she is an extremely experienced agent who has honed her skills of observation and subterfuge over the decades.

Her impressive experience is why she has been given an important part of Project Phoenix, acting both as a supportive figure and handler to Cyra. She was dispatched to Lutum along with Cyra so the two women could take on the roles of Placida Eione and Livia Eione, a grandmother and granddaughter living together.

Rhea Varick
Basics

affiliation— gryphus
gender— female
age— 28
hometown— lutum district (auster division)
occupation— prior gryphus leader, currently a prisoner of Spectare
abilities— fulmen and spacial prodigium
height— 5'7"
interests— running, history, photography

Persona & Background

Rhea is the definition of electric- strong, ambitious, angry, and headstrong. She knows exactly what she wants and how to accomplish her goals, not letting anyone or anything get in the way. Made to be a leader, she inspires confidence and drive in her followers. She is dedicated to perfecting her magic abilities, using all her free time to train her Fulmen and Spacial powers.

She lost her mother at a young age after she took the blame for her father when a military patrol came to accuse Ricardis of using magic. This loss only fueled her drive to be the best Prodigium she could be and decided she would stop at nothing to take down the Imperium government. After her father's death, Rhea knew that she was to succeed him as the next Gryphus leader. She led with strength, dedication, and boldness, accomplishing much during her 5 years as leader.

After she was captured by Spectare, she was imprisoned in the Imperial City and forced to undergo multiple blood transfusions as Spectare tried to extract her Prodigium powers. Although Rhea was more drained and weary than ever before, she stays persistent in finding a way out. Letting them break her would be worse than death.

Adrian Gavros
Basics

affiliation— gryphus
nickname(s)— adri
gender— male
age— 24
hometown— lutum district (caurus division)
occupation— griffin
ability— ventus prodigium
height— 6'0"
interests— drinking, gambling, riding dirt bikes

Persona & Background

Adrian grew up in Lutum as an only child with two parents. His mother and father tried their best to be the best parents they could, but their addiction to heroin, which was very easy to come by in Lutum, was overwhelming. He lost both of them to overdose- his mother, first, when he was 9 and his father when he was 13. However, after his mother was gone, his father turned into an empty shell of a person, constantly drunk and violent. Adri taught himself at an early age how to fend for himself.

During his teenage years, he realized that he had a knack for gambling- not because he was very lucky or intelligent, but because he had learned how to aim his Ventus magic very precisely at a specific card or dice to give it a gentle nudge in the right direction. His trickery got him into loads of trouble, but it also caught the eye of the Gryphus recruiter. The day after his father died, Adri woke up to a wing symbol carved onto his bed post. The Gryphus recruiter had been keeping an eye on Adri and didn't want a kid living alone in Lutum, and so Adri joined their ranks.

Adrian is a fun-loving, enthusiastic person, always seeking the next adventure or the next party. His bright energy radiates off of him and he carries an optimistic attitude for most things. Able to easily approach strangers and flirt with pretty women, he is talkative and friendly. He is sensation- and novelty- seeking, always willing to try new things, which can often get him into big trouble. He is truly a free spirit, following wherever his heart takes him.

Cassia Florens
Basics

affiliation— gryphus
nickname(s)— cass
gender— female
age— 23
hometown— lutum district (favonius division)
occupation— griffin
ability— terra prodigium
height— 5'4"
interests— gardening, reading, drawing

Persona & Background

Cassia was born in the Lutum district with a younger sister and two protective parents who would do anything to keep their girls safe. They were a family who kept their head down and flew under the radar, ensuring to never attract the attention of the military patrols. They were part of the minority of the Prod population- the part who truly never used magic, ever. Fear of losing their hands and their livelihood drove them to value their safety above all else. When her parents caught wind of the Gryphus, they felt like this was their best option to stay protected. At age 15, Cass and her family joined the Gryphus.

Cassia is grounded and practical. When solving a problem, she would rather take the time to understand every facet of the situation first before developing the best possible solution rather than going with her gut and diving in head first. Cass loves learning for the sake of learning- she always has her nose in a book and was one of the few Gryphus students who enjoyed class.

She places high value safety and security, something she learned from her parents. As a result of her parent's strong self-preservation instinct, she has become somewhat sheltered. Cassia is extremely supportive and protective of those close to her, going to any lengths to keep them from harm. Reliable, patient, and loyal, she is one of the best people to have on your side. However, do not mistake her soft-spoken and gentle nature for weakness, as she is not afraid of confrontation and will defend her beliefs if she feels like they are being challenged.

gender— female
age— 23
hometown— lutum district (aquilo division)
occupation— griffin
ability— fulmen prodigium
height— 5'2"
interests— outdoors, crafts, sports

Persona & Background

A newer addition to the Gryphus, Vita joined the group along with her brothers only a few months before Liv was recruited. Vita was born in the Lutum District to hardworking parents that always put the unity of their family first. As the middle child stuck between two bickering brothers, Vita has learned to be an amicable peacemaker. Casual and friendly, she gets along with just about everybody. Despite her seemingly placid attitude, she's witty and has a sparkling sense of humor, which is often the way she breaks up arguments between her brothers. She's not a particularly determined person, however, and is more than willing to let her brothers go on arguing if her first few attempts don't work, going about her business in the same room without letting it bother her. It's rare that she's ever seen alone, and usually one of her siblings or another friend at her side.

hometown— lutum district (aquilo division)
occupation— griffin
ability— terra prodigium
height— 6'1"
interests— outdoors, woodworking, healthy food

Persona & Background

A newer addition to the Gryphus, Virgilus and his two younger siblings joined together. Serious, reserved, and responsible, Virgil is always looking out for his family and has a particularly close relationship with his parents. He tends to clash with his younger brother because of the differences in their personality, and ends up scolding him like a parent. Stubborn and often too bull-headed, with a dash of pride that makes him stand his ground even when he realizes that he's wrong. Tends to act older than he actually is. Has a strong sense of justice and morality, which is why he chose to become a Griffin.

interests— sports, music, pranks

Persona & Background

A newer addition to the Gryphus, Vinicius joined along with his two older siblings, Virgilus and Vita. As the youngest child, Vinnie is a bit cheeky and mischievous, and tends to be rebellious. He always fights with his older brother, who he sees as a stick in the mud and stricter than their actual parents. Despite their constant bickering, he actually looks up to Virgilus in a strange competitive way, and often follows in his footsteps as if in an attempt to prove himself. He's the most outgoing of the trio, and gets along well with his sister, but doesn't do well with older authority figures.

Roxanna Merinus
Basics

affiliation— gryphus
nickname(s)— xanna
gender— female
age— 37
hometown— lutum district (vulturnus division)
occupation— griffin
ability— ventus prodigium; sensory prodigium
height— 5'7"
interests— collecting trinkets, pressing flowers, singing

Persona & Background

The resident eccentric, Roxanna is an off-beat Griffin who is as mysterious as she is strange. She only dresses in flowing white dresses, and wears her long black hair loose. She wanders the halls as if she is floating, and lacks presence--which has led to many a new recruit thinking they've witnessed a ghost. She usually appears deep in thought or distracted, as if listening to or seeing something that no one else can, and often hums to herself. Though she is perfectly harmless and is rather friendly, people tend to be slightly unsettled by her demeanor and her knowing smile.

She leads a sporadic schedule, as she spends the nighttime standing guard for the Gryphus base using her Sensory magic. She's not particularly introverted or extroverted, and seems perfectly at ease whether she's alone or in a crowd--though either way, she appears to be caught up in her own world. Not much is known about her background, but she joined the Gryphus quite early on, and has been a Griffin for about ten years. She doesn't seem to have family to return to in Lutum. Though she is also in charge of overseeing the elimination of trash, she also has a bad habit of picking up odd items from said trash pile to keep.

Atticus Evander
Basics

affiliation— gryphus
nickname(s)— atty
gender— male
age— 33
hometown— lutum district (aquilo division)
occupation— gryphus head medic
ability— aqua prodigium
height— 6'0"
interests— rap music, learning foreign languages, baking

Persona & Background

Atticus worked as a doctor in downtown Lutum for several years before joining Gryphus. Due to the minimal resources and overcrowded conditions he is used to working in, he is able to apply his medical abilities efficiently in a crisis. Level-headed and a quick thinker, he has a strong intuition for diagnosing illnesses and getting to the root cause of a disease or injury. However, his bedside manner is rather horrid. Although he truly loves the biological/medical side of what he does (and he's quite excellent at it), his social intelligence is rather low. His patients always feel like they are a big inconvenience to him, and he can't understand why they can't just be grateful. He currently leads a team of 6 Medics, including Tasia.

Dominic was Ricardis' best friend and right-hand man. His very hands helped build a large portion of the Gryphus base and he is extremely dedicated to the Gryphus vision he first formed with Ricardis. As a result, he strongly believes in keeping Gryphus leadership in the Varick family, acting like an uncle to Rhea and Remy. Dominic is very protective and hardworking. Although he may appear stern sometimes, he is very emotionally supportive and wishes for the best for those around him. He takes a steady approach and bends with the needs of a situation to accomplish his goals. Not only does he ensure that things are done to the highest standard, but he often goes well beyond what is required.

Comfortable speaking in front of a crowd, he is charismatic and instinctively knows how to capture an audience. He picks up on mood and motivation in ways that allow him to communicate with reason, emotion, passion, restraint – whatever the situation calls for. He is dedicated to his teachings and can be found studying or reading in his free time to become more knowledgeable on topics his students ask him about. Although he has a strong voice in the Circle, his true passion lies in teaching students about magic, literature, history, and anything in between.

Cleo Vulcan
Basics

affiliation— gryphus
gender— female
age— 31
hometown— lutum district (aquilo division)
occupation— gryphus circle, gryphus recruiter
abilities— fulmen and dream prodigium
height— 5'6"
interests— puzzles, reading comic books, reptiles

Persona & Background

Cleo leads the Recruitment Team, a team of 10 Griffins (2 per division) dedicated to finding the best potential recruits. Once a recruit accepts their invitation, she uses her Dream abilities to put a mental fog over the potential recruit and begins interrogation to ensure he/she is not a mole. She is extremely perceptive and observant of people's behaviors and actions as a result of her job. She seeks to decipher the true meaning behind someone's words rather than taking them at face value. As a result, she questions everything she hears before accepting them as fact and has become rather skeptical and distrusting of others. Stubborn and headstrong, once Cleo has formed her opinion about someone or something, it is difficult to change her mind. Cleo was also Rhea's best friend and was devastated by her capture.

Tasia Isidoris
Basics

affiliation— gryphus
nickname(s)— tasi
gender— female
age— 34
hometown— lutum district (caurus division)
occupation— gryphus circle; house mother
ability— aqua prodigium; cleric prodigium
height— 5'3"
interests— yoga, gardening, cooking

Persona & Background

Despite her appearance, Tasia is only in her thirties; as a Cleric Prodigium, she has traded her own life force and youth to heal those in need. Even before she realized her full potential as a cleric, Tasia was well-versed in medical care, as her own mother worked as a nurse and midwife who tended to the needs of their poverty-stricken community. Growing up watching her mother's dedication and self-sacrificing attitude towards the people who needed her services shaped Tasia into a deeply empathetic and giving individual.

Though the usage of her rare mythic gift literally eats away at her own life, she believes in the larger picture that the Gryphus represent, and fully trusts that her sacrifice is a worthy one. This steadfast faith gives her an extraordinary peace of mind, and she spends her days looking after Griffins with great affection, running the base's domestic sphere with careful consideration. She is also a skilled cook, and her specialties always leave the air heady with the aroma of various herbs and spices.

Along with Cleo, Tasia was quite close with Rhea, providing a calmer, gentler influence to the two stronger-willed young women. Rhea's capture was a heavy blow to Tasia, but she is private with her grief, choosing to focus on being a shoulder to cry on for the other Griffins. She is supportive by nature, and this extends to Remy, as he gets his bearings as the new Gryphus leader.

Timotheus Ramirus
Basics

affiliation— gryphus
nickname(s)— elder ramirus
gender— male
age— 74
hometown— grew up in what is now the argenti district, lived in the favonius division of lutum district after the Great Revolution
occupation— gryphus circle
ability— terra prodigium
height— 5'8"
interests— writing, leading prayers, counseling

Persona & Background

Timotheus is a rarity among the Prodigium--he was born before the New Imperium was formed, and lived, albeit briefly, in a time of chaos as the Great Revolution raged. He, his parents, and his two younger sisters were among the first generation of Prodigium to be driven into Lutum. He has lived a life full of hardship, and both of his younger sisters died before they reached adulthood because of the poor conditions in the Lutum District. Though he was born in the midst of the Great Revolution, both of his parents, who had spent their entire lives living as free people, taught him about the world before everything had unraveled. His parents were devout followers of Lux Libertas and firmly believed that the mythical griffin would save the Prodigium; Timotheus also found much comfort in this idea, and though he has grown into an elderly man, having outlived too many of his loved ones, still maintains a patient, waiting attitude for Lux Libertas.

He has acquired a vast deal of knowledge in his time, as he prioritized writing down the experiences of generation before his own. Despite his age, his mind is still as sharp as a tack, and he is perhaps one of the most knowledgable people about the the history of the Prodigium and the religion of Lux Libertas. He is a kind and gentle person, and enjoys listening to the worries of others and giving them advice. He is most often found in or around the spirit house, and spends much of his days praying or meditating. As a member of the Circle, he is patient in hearing out all opinions, but usually advocates for focusing on helping the community than taking outright aggressive action against the Imperium, as he holds to the traditional role that the Prodigium were meant to play in society--using their gifts to help and guide, not as weapons.
