Image Thread [Alliance of the Renewal]

I genuinely wish I was the one who drew this; unfortunately, I'm not. So here's the image that inspired Honest Blossom's appearance...

If I've jumped the gun, please move this to the appropriate thread.

You're probably fine, methinks. While I wish I wasn't, I'm seriously lacking in the art-fu category. That aside, though, here's the image that was a large source of inspiration for my character:

In case anyone is wondering, the author is *nicktheartisticfreak on DeviantArt. >_>

Well, throwing in my 2 cents, here's mine. I, alas, am also lacking in the art category. This was pretty much exactly what I wanted, except that the sword in his hand ought to be a bow. Although maybe I should scrape up a few more points for a speccy sword too...hrm....

Full credit most of course go to:

Honest, face to face fighting is for Dawns. I'll stand right over here and not get hit back, thankyouverymuch :)

Heh, well the picture is actually of a War Gull, not a Hawk. Replace the bird's head/beak with the one here, and you'll have a good idea:

This one is by *dragonstar10, on DeviantArt as well.

EDIT: Nuh uh! What's her appearance? >_>

That's what I'd say too

Some people just have ugly-ass Familiars, is all. *duck*

Heh, well my character did have Appearance 4, but that was until I realized that having Mental Attributes as Primary and Social as Secondary instead of vice versa fit him better :P . So you win this round *shakes fist*

And bah, Talisman! I wouldn't say that around the Hawk if I were you, she likes to nibble on things, and arms might look awfully like giant hotdogs if she gets too hungry .

Oh. Well reminded, Morninglight. Almost forgot Kestrel's amulet. The stone is set under the sunburst (which is golden, of course, on Kestrel's amulet), where the disc in the picture is. The thing twists open to insert the hearthstone although, thanks to good ol' First Age craftsmanship, you'd never see the seam without a very close look.

I couldn't really find a single pic, so I broke it down into two close pics that I liked. I didn't draw either of these.

Head: Replace blonde hair with a blue/gray color with a dark stain at the very tips.

She/He is normally dressed in a dark blue military outfit, and as cheesy as it seems, I really liked the designs used in Full Metal Alchemist.

One minute research on Google with the keyword "swordswoman" and I already found the perfect image for Bladeshine

kudos to the talented artist mo_duinne: http://flickr.com/photos/mo_duinne/; there are other drawings in the album, just pass all the photos

This is her probably during a training session, as neither of those swords resemble her Daiklave Elegant Stream. I wonder what got her so angry though...

While we are at it, I formally request sticky for the image thread

Um....Hi, I'm the new guy....

The picture's not the greatest, but it is an original if that's worth anything...

I made it in paint out of an actual photograph of myself at a boffer LARP.

Yeah, I know that. Didn't know about the picture. Interesting though, it's not bad. Originals are always better, IMO, because it shows you put effort into something and used your own creativity. Finding other individuals' art to display your ideas is cool too, but as an artist myself, I know that it doesn't compare to making something yourself.

It is nice, though if you'd get someone like me to try and draw his own character's portrait, you'd be lucky to wind up with straight lines on the stick figure.

And I'm saying that's okay! Be proud of your work, you get so much more satisfaction out of doing something for yourself. :D

Also, please note that I'm not explicitly saying you shouldn't look to the art of others for inspiration. Hell, I'd be a pretty terrible hypocrite if I was saying that. :P

I'm with you parallax, on my rare best days I get do some OOTS/Keychain quality stickfigures, only reason this one turned out pseudo-ok, is i had a picture to literally draw over.....
