✯ Raccoon Catcher ✯
Flying. Eleanor had almost forgotten how much she hated flying. She was quickly reminded of how much she hated in when she remembered she had to take off her shoes. It was the actual being-in-the-air part of it that she hated. It was just everything else. The people, the noise, the emptying of pockets, the screaming children, the sitting next to strangers that insist on hitting on you, the pang of absolute dread when you realize you're in the middle seat and you're flying alone. And the list didn't end there. There was so much more - tiny bathrooms among the seemingly never-ending list of things.
It didn't help that she had to fall across the country. Flying from Pennsylvania to California took about seven hours, which for Eleanor was seven hours too long. But it was going to be worth it. Los Angeles was hosting a brand new convention this year and it was rumored to be the best one yet. A handful of the most popular YouTubers, thousands of fans, cos-play, panels; This panel was rumored to have it all. But those were just rumors. The details of what was actually going to be at the convention were kept to a minimum. They didn't even realize the names of the famous YouTubers that would be there. The suspense had surely increased interest because within hours of opening ticket sales the convention was sold out.
If that wasn't enough to make Eleanor excited, the fact that this was the first convention she was going to as ManicPhoenix had her nearly... Well, manic. She could barely contain herself at the thought of meeting her fans, people that actually watched her videos of their own free will for enjoyment. She had exactly been officially invited as a guest of the convention but a few emails before her and the event coordinators hinted that she was on the VIP list. Eleanor wasn't entirely certain of what that would entail but she was excited regardless. Almost excited enough to forget the whole flying thing...
Seven long, long hours late, Eleanor is finally off the plane and headed to the baggage claim. It was weird knowing that she had left Pennsylvania at 1:30 in the afternoon, flown for seven hours, and then arrived at 5:30 in California. She had never had to the chance to be out of state before for lack of money and lack of reason so just setting foot in California was thrilling. The first day of the convention was tomorrow so she had some time to kill. She drops onto the bed in her hotel room with a content sigh, taking it all in for a moment before pulling out her camcorder to record a vlog to post later.
