  There are seven prestigious families spread all throughout Southern-Eastern Asia. They practice in the shadows, a higher authority than Royal or Imperial families. The touch on society they possess is close to Godly, and to those small circles who know them, they are revered. Their power is quiet. For centuries, they have maintained a most sacred bloodline: the birth of a Zodiac animal. To be born in this sacred role brings great honor to a clan -- and great burden on the reincarnated envoy.
  
  The life of a Zodiac is complex and highly scrutinized. Though they receive the worship and praise from their own clan, it can be a lonely life, as they may find it difficult to maintain relationships with humans. The only place they may find solace if they dare is The Circle (their fellow Zodiac members) in which they formally meet with once a year (or more, if they'd like).
  
  A Zodiac's destiny is to advance their clan's influence through their respective fields of expertise (politics, business, arts, medicine, science, etc...) and eventually act as clan head. In addition, they live as a symbol for peace among all proclaimed nations. Each bloodline is protected. Some clans are wary of one another while others are in close alliance. Some possess more power than others. Each Zodiac member is born with a singular supernatural ability passed down through their bloodline. Each role will have a description of what that ability is. These abilities can only work on humans and are ineffective on fellow Circle members -- unless you are God.
  
  In modern-day Japan, while these families have a vice grip on their monopolized fields of expertise, something is amiss -- their abilities are waning. While they do transform into animals under special circumstances, it is not always guaranteed. There is uncertainty. Suspicions of someone meddling with the supernatural order of destiny. After all, some Zodiac members do not see their role as a blessing but rather a curse. They wish to break free. Others enjoy their encapsulated lifestyles of reverence and awe. Some wish to break free for love, as the attraction between members in unlike anything they may experience with a human -- and acting on these is a great offense and forbidden. The God has called all Circle members to Japan to stay at the Main Compound. The Circle cannot cease to exist, the God demands, for power and influence cannot fall in the wrong hands.

  The Cat is born to no such family. Throughout history, the legend goes as this: the God, either when the Cat is born or when the God is conscious, knows the Cat's exact location. Their name, their family, their situation. And when they decide the time is right, the Cat is taken away. It has mostly been immediately. The Cat has always been raised in the same vicinity as the God. Depending on the family, the Cat is received differently. The Somsri, Caringal, and Lý family have been known to love the Cat and treat them normally. The Chia family pities them. The Seo, Miyara and Lánfēi either openly despise them or treat them coldly. The mere presence alone of the Cat is enough to spur some kind of reaction. The Cat's life is solely dictated by The God. They are hardwired to obey without question (more than the others), and their condition of living is dependent on The God. It has been for centuries.

  Since the birth of the first Zodiac [40 yrs <], from Dec. 31st until Lunar New Year, the family of whichever Zodiac the year falls on must 1. host the entire Zodiac in their compound, and 2. arrange celebrations / ceremonies for the Lunar New Year in the way their country/culture is most comfortable with. Families spare no expense for these events. It is important that the host family show great honor, respect, and attention to detail. In these times of celebration and "vacation", Zodiacs will spend time with one another. Their connection will serve as a symbolism for unification of countries and peace. Some families are more progressive in their peace-seeking ways while other families wish to have more power.   In those days the cat and the rat were best friends.
  “What an honor it would be to be part of the God's calendar,” squeaked the rat.
  “We’ll enter the race together.”
  But when they saw where the race was to take place they were horrified. They had to cross a great wide river, very deep and very fast-flowing – and neither of them could swim. However, they were both cunning and clever.
  “We could hitch a ride on the back of someone who can swim,” mewed the cat. They looked at the other animals lining up on the river bank.
  “The ox looks pretty strong,” said the cat, “and we’re both so small and light perhaps he won’t mind carrying us.”
  They asked the ox politely if he would give them a lift, and, the ox being a decent sort of chap, agreed. They jumped lightly onto his broad back. The ox waded slowly into the water and started to swim. It was indeed extremely strong and wasn’t at all bothered by the river’s dangerous currents. As they got nearer to the farbank they could see God waiting on the shore. The rat desperately wanted to win the race.
  “If I’m first in the race,” it thought to itself, “I’ll be first in the calendar.”
  He looked at the cat perched on the ox’s back beside him.
  “If the cat weren’t here,” it thought, “the ox would be able to swim even faster. And what if the cat reaches God before I do?” It reached out his paws and pushed it's friend the cat into the river. The cat was swept away by the whirling waters.   Rie is built well, with a strong and feminine body. She tends to wear traditional Japanese attire in the home, but for work and other out-of-home excursions, she tends to dress in tasteful business attire. Her clothing tends to outline her femininity, though her attitude is anything but. When she is angry or experiencing an intense emotion, her eyes glow red. Normally, they are a slate-grey/blue color, but sometimes, they have been known to be other colors.

    • Once a project or idea is started, Rie will not stop until it is executed perfectly. She tends to be very organized and focused, as if all scheduling is compartmentalized in her brain.

    • Outwardly, Rie will never play favorites. She treats everyone in the same manner. To the public eye, there is not a single soul she treats better than anyone else. When making decisions for her clan and/or Zodiac matters, Rie looks at each situation objectively and has a utilitarian mindset. She will at least not put her own needs before The Circle.

    • To an almost eerie level, nothing frazzles or surprises Rie. She is not a psychopath and is very capable of anger, love, sadness, but she tends to wear a mask of calm and confidence. Even in stressful situations, she practices grace and caution.

• BACKSTORY

  From that foundation sprouts a circle that will twist to eternity. I am the bullseye inside, always sought, never marked.

  Rie was born to the Miyara family in February of 1992, a day after the old God (Xael Caringal) died in a tragic car crash. It is said that Rie's birth callously "dethroned" him, and it bred distrust between the Caringal and Miyara family for years. This, Rie was shielded from. Rie was not privy to any criticism or negative comment; her mother would not allow it. Starting off in life, Rie had the disposition of being insecure, meek, and skittish. Everyone adored these traits in childhood, as she always behaved and minded her manners. Despite possessing abilities, she rarely exercised them, and for the Zodiacs she would see once a year, she tended to take on a more passive role, even if they looked to her otherwise. This would continue until she was around twelve or thirteen, and concerns grew in her capabilities of being assertive for the family's sake.
  
  Her mother was not abusive or cruel. She adored Rie too much -- worshipped her -- and thought herself to be the temporary Head of the Miyara family for birthing The God. Her father had always been emotionally absent, probably due to being a natural recluse. The father of The God was no easy task, as all eyes were on the family at all times. He could never relax. This caused some resentment towards Rie, and he rather favored his other child instead under the guise of "not wanting them to be left out". It wounded her deeper than she let on, and she clung to her mother as a result. Despite being a good person, her mother did have a habit of "power tripping" in the family and/or expecting special treatment due to birthing Rie. As she grew older, she noticed her mother's frivolousness more. The failure of the adults around here bore a wildly different person by her teens. More her present self. Insensitive, distant, formal. A father who resented her. An immature mother. Never did anything surprise her either -- how could someone who sees the future ever be surprised? Her presence alone, too, spurred intense emotions from all the Zodiac, whether that be adoration, hatred, respect, need.
  
  She was one raw nerve in this intense existence.
  
  Rie felt normal at university, where she studied structural engineering. She began working for a company at twenty-two years old and has worked her way up to an executive role, overseeing employees (who she looks down on) and projects. In her free time, she creates mini projects out of crafting material. She tends to be very distant from her mother and father, plunging herself into work and/or familial affairs. When they are in her presence and/or grate on her nerves, she does not hesitate to send them away and emphasize her authoritative role as God and Head of the Miyara Family.

  Luxury items speak louder than words, and as such, her closet is filled to the brim with overpriced clothing and accessories, all adorned with designer labels and motifs. Soft silks and light linen, deep dark shades of black, red, and the occasional white for an eccentric light pop.
  
  Revealing cuts and styles that cling to the shape of her body, accentuating her desired features and hiding away the ones she despises. Natural jet black hair dyed a stark white is styled to make the prominent angles of her face appear sharper. Yet, nothing will be as sharp as her eyes, cold, calculating, and scheming. • BACKSTORY

  Sometimes I wonder if I was meant for greatness or if I was born stubborn enough to demand it.

  While the birth of a Zodiac was something to be celebrated, Mingyue’s mother did nothing but weep, for she knew her child’s life would be one of duty rather than happiness. A birth shrouded in disappointment. A lowly assistant and her married boss, the heir to the Chai family no less. Initially, the agreement had been upon the birth of the child. She would leave Singapore and take the wretched proof of the affair with her.
  
  Upon the news that the disgraceful child was none other than the Rat, Mingyue’s father had the contract redrafted. They would waive maternal rights and grant Mingyue’s mother enough money to establish a life outside of Singapore, with the stipulation that she never return.
  
  Presenting it as a choice fooled no one in the room. The Chai’s had money and would dispose of the potential blight on their reputation. With eyes brimmed with tears, Mingyue’s mother held her tight once more, inhaling the scent of the child she was already mourning, before sighing the papers.
  
  Mingyue doesn’t remember the last moment with her mother. Nor the untamed feeling of pure and unwavering love. Mingyue can’t recall the sole moment someone viewed her as something other than a tool, a blessing and curse.
  
  The Chai family’s associates were shocked to learn that the heir had concealed his wife’s pregnancy, but they were reassured that it was due to the pregnancy’s high risk. The story was easily bought. For years, Mingyue, like the rest of the world, believed her mother to be the woman who raised her.
  
  Her parents were always distant. Too busy to give her attention outside of events that boosted their image as the perfect family or secured connections that were out of reach before the birth of the current rat into their family line.
  
  Mingyue was ten when she learned her mother was not her mother. The revelation came from touching a document detailing her adoption. The news should have been devastating, but only provided clarity as to why her “mother” was so cold to her. She tried to find her birth mother only to hit a dead end, with any connections to the woman being erased.
  
  It all seemed to fall in place for Mingyue. Affection was not earned through love, but through status. People didn’t care unless you provided something for them. Her parents were no different. Their love could only be acquired through her ability to strengthen their family name. Mingyue wanted nothing more than her parent’s love, so she vowed to be the perfect daughter.
  
  Public appearances where she smiled and waved as if she was the happiest child in the world.   The trials that broke me led to an evolution that was worth the pain.

  Ruònán was a highly anticipated presence for her family. After 3 boys, her father had always wanted his own princess to raise up and spoil after years of dealing with just boys. As a family that was well-known for having its origin based in military service and public defenders, it came as no shock a certain branch of the Lanfei clan decided to enter the world of private protective services. Being groomed in the necessary physical trainings of security detail led to a more intricate upbringing. The clients that could afford it requested those that could not only fit in easily with high society crowds but also exude a certain air of danger that would hinder any direct attacks.
  
  Upon Ruònán's birth, the family was ecstaic to once again welcome a zodiac into their midst. The Dog nonetheless was an ideal match up for the potential family businesses that she could enter. Whether she delved into that of the civil servant police, being a loyalist for the nation's government, or choosing the less than desired line of hired muscle. Her 2 oldest brothers had entered into the military as soon as they could and quickly rose through the ranks while the third brother had become a police chief. Ruònán had admired the dedication her brothers had put in and would often witness their Lanfei sparring sessions. Specially geared training that had been developed within their family clan to push their naturally heightened physical abilities to the max.
  
  Her parents could have never imagined the levels of stress that Ruònán would cause them once she turned 15. The sweet little girl that remained in their mind was burned away by the unruly way she conducted herself. Being the Dog zodiac had Ruònán in the spotlight for years, now she was taking pride and pleasure in being fawned over like some A-list celebrity. It also aided in the amount of jobs she was offered and the quality of the clients with her additional heightened senses. It was like a high that she never really fell from as she enjoyed the attention and praise from admirers. She essentially ran wild while completing the jobs delegated to her that ranged from bounty hunting to security escorts. Unfortunately, she also viewed them as a free hunting ground for any attractive woman in the vicinity. Which has also included the employer, employer's family members, and those that work under her brothers. All she needed to know was that the feeling was mutual and she'd dive right in.
  
  When it comes down to dealing with the rest of the Zodiac, her interactions were essentially familial with most of them. Ruònán honestly couldn't wait to meet God after the first time they met at the introductory assembly to welcome her. It was an interesting situation where she wasn't sure if it was her basic human eyes or her Zodiac instincts that drove her desire to claim Miyara Rie. A woman blessed with high-level physical and intellectual talents should only be courted by those closest to her stature. The 8-year gap didn't help Ruònán be taken seriously but a dog on the chase won't give the hunt that easy.
  
  The seemingly dwindling transformations comes as a loss with slight relief. Ruònán has despised turning into smooth coated Chow-Chow during intensely stressful situations. Plus, being used as a search dog for certain missions led to her brothers teasing her since she was young. She knew that she would still be forced into taking over the position of clan head but wondered if her family would begin to treat her like some sort of leper that will just bring shame upon them.

  To birth a Zodiac child was often seen as a curse, a burden that the family of the child must harbor as the child comes to age. To the Somsri family, Ruangsak’s birth was met with praise. His mother wept, not out of sorrow but of happiness. They had been chosen, their family was blessed. Blessed with a miracle child that would elevate their status amongst the rest of the Somsri family. Raungsak was their darling son, blessed by God with their gift no less. His parents raised him with the understanding of the importance of his role, and he grew understanding of his place in this world. He was amongst God’s favorite, a child born with importance. A child with God’s gift. The villagers looked upon him with a mix of awe and envy, their eyes glimmering with unspoken admiration. To be touched by God—was not something every family could claim.
  
  His life in the Chiang Mai district flourished as his parents showered him with praise and adoration. Their perfect son, the second oldest amongst his siblings and their golden child. It was due to him being a Zodiac that his parents loved him, and he yearned for that love. His siblings would compete for his parent’s attention but Ruangsak merely had to sniffle to draw the eyes of all around him. His early childhood he realized fairly quickly that he was different. He was better than the rest. He worked to be showered by their praise, every award, every minor accomplishment. Everything that revolved around him was made to be celebrated. And he revealed in the compliments eating up every single bite, it was as if he had tasted the sweetest dessert in his life. And he couldn’t get enough.
  
  As he grew into his teenage years his expectations grew. The Somsri family was proud of their understanding of the arts. His desire to progress his family name rose, this adoration that was given to him so freely. Could it be taken away just as fast? He questioned his role, his place as a Zodiac. He lashed out at his parents uncertain as to why he had been born as just a Zodiac, why not God. Hushed whispers silenced the room he stood in as his parents averted their gaze, watching as the Somsri head approached their golden son. The Rooster. With balled fists he stood there, tears streaming down his face as he fell to his knees in front of the Village head. Silence rang throughout the halls as he was reprimanded for his behavior. It was clear he had forgotten that his birth alone was a gift. He fought to hold back tears as the heads of the Somsri family left his family home. Things had changed. Shifted..
  
  In his young adult years he had grown into an upstanding young man, he had graduated with honors amongst others in his university for Arts and Entertainment management. Working alongside his parents in the entertainment industry, He followed in his father’s footsteps of being a producer. Though he had no true passion for the industry, he did what was expected of him. Earning their praise in return.
  
  During his mids twenties things– changed. He no longer cared to uphold his parent’s legacy. After all he was gifted, he was special. He spent most of his mids twenties fooling around, chasing tail and seeing life in a new perspective. Why stress on the future when he could live his life to the fullest today? He partied, a social butterfly amongst his peers. The talk of the town, his name not only held status but held a different- reputation. He adopted a playboy attitude filling his past lovers with empty promises. The chance to be with one of God’s favorite, a celestial blessing in disguise. With a toothy smile he’d whisper sweet nothings into their ears filling their thoughts with half truths as deft hands snaked behind to unfasten a bra. Due to his curse he has never slept with those of the opposite sex outside of the Zodiac animals. Men on the other hand were different. What was life if he couldn’t indulge? A stain on his family’s name was the price he would pay for having his way.
  
  Responsibility had knocked at his door, and despite his reluctance. He was born to answer. The main Zodiac members were summoned to the main compound in Japan. And Ruangsak was more than eager to show the rest why the Somsri family were blessed by God, after all he was the fruit of their labor. He packed for Japan, wondering if he had time to do some sight seeing as all tourists do.

  Born an only child to a CEO and an Agronomist, Khanh has known comfort from a young age. However, it was never without a lecture, or some kind of lesson. Both of her parents were often busy with work, so they saw any time spent with their precious Tiger vessel as an opportunity to teach her lessons that would later aid her in representing the family name properly.
  
  Their successes in their careers, coupled with their frequent absence, left the young girl in awe of her parents. To her, they were heroes, untouchable figures that made sure the food was safe for everyone to eat. It left her with the desire to do some good for the world, and to impress them with her own learned skills and abilities.
  
  This need for attention made for an amicable childhood, full of awards and certificates of achievement. However, her parents didn't blink at her academic goals being reached. To them, Khanh was simply doing what she was supposed to. Why praise behavior that should be the default?
  
  This nonchalant response created a contempt that soon festered into rage in her teenage years. These feelings exploded through rebellious spats and disorderly use of her powers. Her actions were mostly unnoticed, seen mostly as a nuisance to her parents.
  
  It was an embarrassing reality for Khanh to come to terms with. She had to pull herself out of her own rebellion, mostly thanks to her incessant desire to take on her parent's agricultural pursuits. So, she went to school, and worked her ass off (like her parents always instructed her to).
  
  Being a Zodiac vessel was never at the forefront of her life, but she could feel the underlying tension the older she got. "You must always strive for perfection." Because you are a Zodiac. "Every action you take is representative of who you are." Because you are a Zodiac. Maybe it was a tension her parents created, or maybe it was one that Khanh created all on her own. It is a question she still debates herself on.
  
  In her university years, she took on internships in her parent's company, an commercial agricultural firm. It was there that she learned about how food is planted, grown, shipped, and sold. The science of it all fascinated her, and she worked her way up the company through University, and after graduated, she continued working full-time.
  
  Khanh currently works in a lab, following her mother's footsteps in becoming an Agronomist. It's there that she works on innovative ways to promote conservation within the agriculture business.

  On April 4th of the year 2000, in some unknown street corner of Beijing China, a baby girl was born in the basement of a run down home. The walls stained and cracked, something that the girl would grow to become used to. A woman cradled her newborn baby in her arms, murmurs of prayers leaving her lips before she’d give the infant a name: Feiyao, vermillion, like the locks that adorned her head. That was the last time the woman would ever see her daughter. She would soon be dragged away into the world outside the dark room, never again would her voice grace another’s ears.
  
  Feiyao never left the basement. The first years of her life she would spend drawing onto the familiar bleak walls, imagining the world beyond the locked wooden door at the end of the ascending staircase. Her father, a man whose face is now a hazy memory, was the only person of whom she shared words with. He kept her away from what layed beyond the basement, fearful of the girl’s true form being discovered. He pitied the girl, despised the zodiac in which she was born, to him she was a curse—but he loved her red hair.
  
  When the man opened the door to the basement, sometimes he’d bring crayons. Other times salmon, the young girl’s favorite food. During his off days, he’d often mistake her for her mother.
  
  Regardless, Feiyao remained curious despite the circumstances in which she was born. In a world as small as hers, all the girl had was her imagination—but soon even that once untamed feeling would gradually disappear—as on the young girl’s eleventh birthday, it would not be her father that would unlock the door that day. It would be others. A group of men.
  
  They took her away. Feiyao was saddened, she questioned them about her father. The men informed her that he had gone away for work and urged her to continue on.
  
  Later in life she’d learn. Feiyao’s father: charged with the abduction, sexual assault, and the murder of Feiyao’s mother, Jingyu. The man was an artist. His tapestries delved into fictional worlds and memories of his past. The imagery portrayed on his art was often of Jingyu, with ribbons dancing along her ruby hair. When she died, the woman would be replaced with a young Feiyao instead—a fixation disguised as fatherly love. Any works he published would soon fade into obscurity following his arrest, only to be graced by his daughter’s eyes.
  
  Growing used to being placed from home to home, Feiyao always felt a sense of profound loneliness in the life she was forced to lead. As she aged into her teenage years, those feelings turned into rebellious fury. Her name was soon spoken with venomous hate for those that had to put up with her. If Feiyao wasn’t tricking shopkeepers, she was off vandalizing or coming home with pockets of stolen money. She partied, chased relationships and ended them, without a remorseful thought, just as fast. She fooled around recklessly with every opportunity she was given in life, trying to obtain the freedom she lost in her youth.
  
  Eventually, responsibility would come knocking at the seventeen year old’s door, all but confirming the fears of her late father. ”A zodiac” they would say. Feiyao scoffed, it made sense in her rowdy mind. Now that she was no longer just a girl in a basement, it was only a matter of time. Yet, the teenager didn’t care for her new title, she only cared about the life that would come attached to it: a life of interest and a life that her talents could see the most use. A life of freedom.
  
  As Feiyao stepped onto the Miyara Compound for the first time, a smile graced her lips.

  To love is to suffer and there can be no love otherwise.

  He was born twelve minutes after his brother, Enzo, to a stunned and now revered mother. Giving birth to two Zodiacs -- this was almost as much of an honor as giving birth to God. But her mother had not given birth to God. She mourned God, the true God she believed in, her brother Xael. The trauma of this loss had a hand in her fixation on his elder brother, Enzo, while for most of his childhood, Dakila was prone to sickness. That is not to say his mother did not try to impart on him the wisdom she did Enzo. She did less harshly -- so it all stuck less. He spent his time with servants of the Caringal home, and it upset him when he found them focusing on another task besides himself. The insecurity and temporary attention his mother gave him left Dakila wounded, wanting for more. Especially with how frequently servers were hired/fired.
  
  All that time spent with people of lower economic class did teach him many things. He was more into books. Tutors. Learning languages obviously was easy for a Zodiac Caringal. During gatherings, he enjoyed speaking to his fellow Zodiacs. He even wrote a few of them letters and values their friendships, even though his family has warned him otherwise. Compared to his socially adept brother, he might have always seemed the weak link. He delved into school quite early and pushed through to get his doctorate in Speech Language Pathology specializing in Pediatrics but primarily does research. He had the nickname "Dak" growing up but since becoming a doctor himself, it switched to "Doc" as a joke. While his brother uses his voice to strategically take down the masses, Doc uses his talents to help children find their own. It pissed his mother off a great deal before her death, that he does not utilize his talents to advance the family, but she cannot nag him from the grave. He has other goals in mind.

The Boar can often get away with his bouts of mischief and diva-ness with Rie more than the others, and she has a higher tolerance for any of his backtalk. Inwardly, Keisuke harbors some resentment and jealousy for his cousin, though he feels oddly bad for doing so. Despite their flaws, the revert back to a childlike behavior when together, bickering while standing close by each other's sides.

  There's no problem.

  There's a comfort brought on by the presence of the rabbit or, more specifically, Kōzō. A quiet character & the type to make homes of any four walls, Kōzō is of the belief that nothing takes precedent over the present.
  
  There's no assignment or task more important than conversation with & carefully considering the person right in front of him in any given moment. On the day-to-day, he's the type to chat with baristas while a line forms behind him. While, at the extreme end, he's one to avoid heated conversation in favor of taking in the viewpoint being said to him, betraying nothing of his own beliefs—nonconfrontational in that way.
  
  In humor, the man teeters on the border of witty & unworldly—talk of ideals & "shoulds" suspend his reality while proximity to the experiences of real people grounds it. Conversation with him consists of genuine remarks based on observation or attempts at humor to uncover more facets of the company he's with. His efforts to learn all that is of another result in familiarity that he's near-reckless in preserving through decided loyalty.

  His birth brought the smallest sense of normalcy to Kōzō's family—mostly for his father's sake as a spotlight shared halved the heat. In his youth, Kōzō was something of a stubbornly free spirit, vicious in his pursuit of self-gratification—a lot of toys & cereals. Coddled by his status as both a younger brother & the second Zodiac of the Miyara family, he was the cute little kid whose inane demands alleviated the tense atmospheres that surrounded his sister.

  Though a Zodiac, Kōzō was still a developing mind &, while he grew up as typically as a Zodiac could, it was in his junior high that the typical stint of teenaged, societal critiques began. As Rie took more of an interest in fulfilling her role & the behaviors of his peers—reflecting his own—shifted toward typical cynicism & apathy, Kōzō acted out in the characteristic ways that younger brothers did: sarcasm, foul language, & piercings. Bring tumult & salvation will come—it was in this time that the increased attention from those—Rie, his father, teachers, peers—began to cement in his young mind as precious relationships worth cherishing.

  In the years that Rie was mostly away, climbing the upper echelons of the business world, Kōzō bunkered down at home. By then, he'd mellowed out into a respectable, young adult with an interest in the people around him. Thanks to a nature lacking ambition or drive, he'd taken a break between senior high & pursuing higher education to tend to the compound's inner workings. In order to continue some kind of learning, his father called upon some world-renown architect to take up residence at the compound & mentor Kōzō during such a time.
  
  It was in this time that, while Rie was focused on her professional development, the acting position of family head shifted from their parents to himself. In these years, he oversaw the family's focus on spiritual practice & the expansion of the compound. This offended no one as, when Rie's work let up, Kōzō gracefully scooted over to allow her rightful hand to act on behalf of the Miyara family's better interests.
  
  While some in Kōzō's position might've sought out a seat as secondary head of house, the younger brother was the type to again relegate such a role meaningful only in title to his parents. In his eyes, there was no better person to take care of family affairs than his sister; when away, of course she wouldn't have been the type to be at peace if their parents acted on her behalf.

  Nowadays, Kōzō's days are seemingly spent in idle luxury: his employment consists of architectural contracts just twice a year & he leaves home about once a week, every time with souvenirs of his outings. To put it simply, he's taking in the world around him, now that he has his sister back to bear the burden of responsibility. Some form of eat-pray-love; his most recent excursion involves him visiting the Japanese countryside to immerse himself in modest living.

  Dad's relationship with his own sibling mirrors Kōzō's with his sister. The thought, though, has left him wondering: in parenting—if he, too, would neglect a daughter in favor of a son. How much of their circumstance was in thanks of the birth of God & how much will he inherit?
