Wes ( MadiRaiCat MadiRaiCat ); Parker ( Desert_Blossom Desert_Blossom )

Everything Ava did not need to think about was slowly receding to the background until only the laughter and her good mood remained. The moment of her phone call which had left her blue and grim was long gone and the smile curling her lips was not a fake one anymore. And after a few sips of tequila, it was only growing wider. Especially seeing Parker inquiring about Jace and Cameron. Though Jace cut it all off when he declared there was no marriage or anything. For a moment, Ava’s gaze looked for Cameron because the way Jace said it was not the nicest and maybe there was a different wording that would be much more suitable but since the brunette took another sip from her bottle and the liquor fell into her empty stomach, she soon forgot about all worries. Especially as Parker turned back and his head ended up in her lap.

Ava looked down, her dark eyes traced Parker’s face, drinking in his grown-up features. The teenage mischievous spark was still in his eyes and though his face and Parker overall became even more masculine, his old self was still there. And while in her thoughts, her fingers subconsciously disappeared in his hair, Ava let them run through the nest he could wear so well, getting lost in the moment for a bit. And maybe it was alcohol speaking. Caleb started to talk just in time for Ava not becoming weird or embarrassing and as he proposed Truth or Dare, Ava showed them all a nice toothy grin. Especially as her name was called first. Looking around, she was basically asking for it, for the others to dare her.

And since Parker asked her to stop using her phone for the day, she just scoffed. Easy. And once the class clown removed himself from her lap, the brunette leaned down to her bag, fished her phone out, noticed around a dozen of text messages (half of them being from Benjamin already) and with the best feeling in the world, she turned the device off, handing it to her sister. Whitney put it away immediately and, in all honesty, Ava already felt better. As if that elephant sitting on her chest finally lifted its glorious ass and moved away. And she celebrated it with a long healthy swig from the bottle, the one that sent her to the tipsier side for good, making her sight hazy for a moment before she blinked it away.

The rest of the way, she spent in tears. Maybe sober lawyer Ava would not laugh that much but almost drunk former IT girl was having the time of her life with the truths and the dares. The proverbial shackles from her wrists and ankles fell down and she roamed free. And before she knew it, Caleb parked the van in front of the familiar cabin, the place where they all spent so much time and which was breathing memories from every corner. Another salve of laughter left her lips seeing Parker’s clumsy way of getting out of the vehicle. She followed right after him, still holding her bottle in one hand, carefully, not to spill anything, and her shopper bag in the other. Her coat remained in the car for now but tequila was keeping her warm enough.

Ava walked aside a little bit, took a deep breath and closed her eyes, not claiming her bags right away. She wanted to soak in the atmosphere for a moment. Glistening snow was surrounding them, covered every inch of the land and it all looked like straight out of winter wonderland. And when the young woman turned back to the van, seeing the others taking their bags, she grinned as an idea formed in her head. She set her bag and the bottle down in the snow and picked up some snow, forming a small ball in her hand. She was not the best shot, not even sober but she just felt goofy. And for sure, once the ball left her hand, it landed in Parker’s messy hair and Ava burst out laughing as at that very moment, it looked like the best prank ever. And only then she went to take her suitcase from the said boy. “You have something…here…” she smiled and reached up to brush remaining snow from his head, leaving the hand there for maybe a bit longer than she should. Remind her why she never spoke up? Not once?

It was shortly after that she finally walked inside and went to carelessly drop her bag to the room. There were more important things on the agenda than unpacking. That could totally wait. Seeing Wes in that loveseat, she grinned. “We used to share that one, remember?” she asked with a wink that did not mean anything. It felt good not having to pretend anymore. She basically threw herself into a comfy bean bag close to the fireplace just as the businessman called for the others to hurry. “Okay, you wanna play? Fine let’s play. Truth or Dare, lover boy?” Ava asked him, tilting her head in curiosity. Her tequila was somewhere close, just out of her touch. But she knew that someone would be the best and hand over some more shots.

Wes ( MadiRaiCat MadiRaiCat ); Cam( apolla apolla )

Jace could just kick himself. And quite a lot. He knew that the question was on its way and that someone was definitely going to start that whole marriage talk again. And he assumed that it was going to be Caleb or Parker as the two had wondered about him and Cam in the church. Hell, one of them even called Cam his wife. And yes, Jace had quite enough time to figure out what to say, between packing and trying to make Riley forget this juicy new phrase Parker was so kind to teach him. He could have come up with some nicely formed statement and everyone would move on. But no. No. He just didn’t. And so he ended up blurting the first thing he could, improvising. Yeah, that went well.

Once Parker returned to his seat and the whole conversation was over, Jace looked at Cam, seeing the rouge in her cheeks and something more. Some expression in her face he couldn’t read quite well but something was telling him he messed up. Well, he was kind of adamant with his statement and maybe…fuck. This shit was complicated. And so he rather took another drink from his bottle, making it seem he had some soda in there instead of whiskey. Well, he was a big boy. He could definitely handle it. Always have. Thankfully, Jace had a nice tolerance. Though he had to say that the decision not to have breakfast was not proving to be not the best.

The grim atmosphere in the back seat was melted by Caleb’s idea to play some Truth or Dare and Jace was in. They all were, thank god no one had become a buzzkill in those past few years. The beginning was a bit careful, Jace could tell. Daring Ava to put her phone away was nothing adventurous but then again, the group was together for the first time since graduation and they kind of fell out of sync. A little cautiousness could have been expected. That was how he also ended up talking about Trisha but he was also carful not to be a total dick about it. Technically, he did not lie. She was an absentee mom who did not care about Riley or Jace. But no one needed to know Trisha was a human trash.

A few rounds went like that but Jace had to say that, sappy as it was, he enjoyed Cam’s singing dare the most. The girl had a beautiful voice and even alcohol-laced, it sounded angelic. But with the distance from home, level of intoxication was rising as well and even the bulky guy himself was starting to feel his whiskey. Not that it would stop him. Not at all, he just kept drinking. What was he? A weakling? If the girls could handle theirs, Jace was not putting the bottle away.

By the time they arrived, he was nearing emptying half of the bottle and it was showing in his glistening eyes at that point. Jace was not an aggressive drunk unless provoked. Quite the contrary. He had two moods. Either he was that jolly giant, friendly with everyone, rather cuddly or he was an incredible flirt. Only a few more shots were going to tell which version the group was getting. But when the van parked in front of the cabin, Jace waited for everyone to get out before he himself did. But once outside, he pulled Cam closer to him, taking her arm.

“Hey, Cam…” he spoke, looking almost ridiculous as the big guy was wearing the most sheepish look ever. “I’m sorry if…if I sounded a bit dickish back then. You know, about that marriage. I didn’t want to sound that strong…like…I don’t like you or something. I was just…it didn’t feel right…and…christ, I am making it worse, right?” he chuckled nervously. “Okay, so…let me start again. I am sorry for being a dick. And I promise not to be one anymore. Definitely not to you. And to show you I mean it, here, you can totally have my bottle.” he grinned, pressing whiskey in her hand. “Friends? Again?” Jace asked, knowing that his apology sucked ass but his mind was clouded by whiskey and he would have to come up with a much better one once sober.

“Let’s go inside, get a bit warmer.” he smiled and took his and Cam’s bag from Parker, motioning to her to go inside while he followed with their luggage. “I’ll take this to the room, you go ahead and make yourself comfy.” he spoke to Cam again. The bags ended in the room alongside his jacket and Jace returned to the living area, rubbing his hands just as Ava asked Wes about truth or dare. Jace grinned, waiting for his answer as he looked around to collect unfinished bottles in sight. They were not done with drinking and well, it was not exactly the worst thing. As for Jace himself, he could definitely use a drinking night.

Cameron Hale

Cameron had never considered herself a hopeless romantic, but there was a part of her that did enjoy those little romantic gestures. She'd never held out hope for a prince charming, and had had it drilled into her head since she was little that a guy like that didn't exist. She'd been expected to date the best, to never bring home anyone less than that, and to be perfect herself. It was alot of stress on the petite blonde, and she'd been bound to reach a breaking point at some time. And honestly, she had, with the self harming and now working as a stripper. Not that anyone knew about either of those things, and they didn't need to.

Her gaze dipped down to her thighs, where she could see the very tip of one of the marks hidden underneath her short skirt. While the others were distracted by Caleb's suggestion to play truth or dare, she slid the skirt down some, quickly glancing up at the others to ensure no one saw the movement. The more alcohol she drank, the less concerned she grew with the embarrassment and slight hurt from Jace's words, and she focused instead on the truths and dares going around the group of friends. It truly felt like old times for a while there, and she couldn't be more happy.

At some point during the ride, she'd even shifted to lean more against Jace. Ava was dared to lose her phone for the rest of the day, Wes revealed he'd been streaking before, Whitney had to down a mixed concoction of alcohols, Caleb had to drive with his knees, Evie had to take quite a few shots for whoevers middle name she forgot, Jace talked about Riley's mom and then Cam herself had to serenade the gas station. Not much longer after all that, they were arriving at the cabin and Caleb cut the engine, hopping out quickly, obviously ready to catch up to the rest of them.

Cameron climbed out last with Jace, stumbling a little when her feet hit the ground but managing to catch herself. She'd just been about to go towards the back of the van to collect her bags when she felt Jace's fingers wrap around her arm. She turned back towards him and he pulled her closer, and for a moment her heart stopped as she imagined him kissing her. But of course, that didn't happen and she realized it quickly, warmth flooding her cheeks again. Focusing on his words took a bit more effort than normal, and as he stumbled through his apology, she just stood there listening and watching his lips move.

The next thing she knew he was shoving her bottle into her hands, and then releasing her to say they should head inside. She just nodded and watched as he moved to grab their bags, and only then did she force her feet to move towards the door. She turned her head towards him as he said he'd take the bags to the room, and a quick "Top bunk only!" tumbled from her lips before he disappeared down the hall, and she plopped down in an overstuffed armchair that could easily fit two people. Looking at the others, she grinned a little bit, realizing that she still had her own bottle and Jace's in her hands.

It was Wes' turn, Ava had asked him truth or dare, and he chose dare. A cat-like grin spread on Cam's features, and she pointed her bottle of tequila at Wes. "Seven minutes in heaven. That closet. Now. With..." Her eyes traveled over the others around, her lips pursing slightly until she saw Whitney. "Whitney!" She shouted louder than she meant to, jumping up some and causing the liquor to slosh around in the bottle, spilling down her front. "Maaaaaaaan. Fuck." This was definitely far from the Cameron she used to be. Not that'd she'd been completely innocent back then, but nothing like this.

Caleb Thompson

Suggesting truth or dare had been a spur of the moment decision, but from his sober point of view, Caleb could see that the group needed an icebreaker. And not a sad one, because that funeral had just been... awkward, all around. Devastating, and Caleb wanted a pick me up. With Jace's bottles of liquor going around for everyone but him-- fuckers-- Caleb thought that truth or dare was a great way to start. He chose Ava right off the bat, wanting to see her loosen up some. All of them, really, but she seemed especially uptight. She was dared to stay off of her phone, which caused Caleb to laugh. But she gave it up, handing it over to Whitney with no hesitation.

"Okay, damn girl, get it." Caleb laughed as he reached to turn the radio down some, glancing over at Evie as he did so. She was steadily working on her gin, and he hoped that made her loosen up some with him as well. Yeah it'd been five years, and yeah he hadn't left on the best of terms with her, but that didn't mean things had to be bad now, right? Although... what would happen after this trip? Would he leave again? He honestly didn't know, and he'd been trying not to think about it. Did he want to stay? For himself? For Evie? Or would he just disappear again?

Realizing he was staring, he quickly looked back at the road, playing along with the game to the best of his ability. He could drive with his knees no problem, especially since he was sober, though he'd definitely done it drunk before, too. Whitney downed the alcohol mixture without barfing, Wes admitted to streaking, Evie took more shots, Cameron sang to the gas station, Jace talked about Riley's mom. Looking back every once in a while, Caleb realized that his plan was working. They were definitely loosening up, and that made his grin grow even wider.

Once they reached the cabin, he cut the engine and started to hop out, but Whitney's kiss on his cheek stopped him. "Anytime, sweetness." He blew a kiss at her as she handed him her Malibu, which he quickly took a huge swig of. He nearly choked; the drink had never been his favorite, but it would work. He made sure to leave her some, handing her the bottle back once he was out of the van and around the other side. He grabbed his own bag and slung it over his shoulder, then saw Evie approaching but was too slow to grab her bags. She headed inside and Caleb kicked himself for being such an idiot.

With a heavy sigh, he glanced at Parker and headed inside, absentmindedly picking a bed before making his way back to the living room. He plopped on the same couch as Evie, glancing around the room as he kicked his feet up on the table, letting his gaze fall on Wes as Ava playfully told him to pick a truth or dare. When he said dare, Caleb grinned and leaned forward, rubbing his hands together. But before he could even inhale to speak, Cameron cut him off, and Caleb's jaw dropped as he realized what she'd said. "Oh, shit, Cammie. What have you done?"

Still, he was laughing as he leaned back, and then slid over to the side some, leaning against Evie. "Somebody's gonna have fun." He grinned as he glanced over, then realized who he was leaning against. "Oh, hi, Evie." He grinned, shifting to get a little more comfortable against her. "Hope you don't mind being my pillow, because you're quite comfortable."

Whitney Jeffries

Whitney caught the look on Caleb's face when he took a pull of Malibu and she laughed. "It's not everyone's cup of tea..." She mused when he handed it back to her. Taking another sip as she brought her bag up to the house, Whitney was intoxicated enough to relax and have fun, but had recovered from the near brown out, induced by her dare. At least that had made the rest of the ride go by quick!

The brunette smiled when there were no objections to her calling dibs on a top bunk, well, no objections aside from Wes's. Whitney looked at him, the nerd in her about to remind him that there would be three other top bunks for him to take... But her words died on her lips when Wes stepped closer. She'd spent the entire car ride sitting beside him, and while she had become increasingly giddy about her seat buddy the drunker she became, his voluntary proximity now that they were at the cabin made her even more aware of the effect he had on her. Especially when he leaned in and smirked.

I guess we'll just have to share... Whitney's brain broke for a split second. Wes's flirtatious words and wink set her heart racing while simultaneously causing the girl to question whether the alcohol was making her hear things. Whitney's grip on her Malibu bottle tightened as she tried to formulate some kind of response. Wes was just teasing, his smirk and wink made that clear, Whitney thought, trying to reason her way through this. Just come up with something coy or flirty to say back. Lean in to the moment, Whit!

"Only if you don't snore or hog the covers..." Whitney called over her shoulder playfully, turning her head to watch Wes for a moment as he followed Evie. Once he'd disappeared inside, the brunette let out a sigh and turned her attention to her Malibu, looking at it suspiciously. She both prayed that the booze hadn't caused her to imagine that interaction and blamed it for making her wish that Wes had been serious about sharing a bed. Wait, what?! Fuck. It was so much easier to remember that Wes was Ava's ex and that there was probably some kind of girl code to adhere to when she was sober. Though even as Whitney conceded that thought, she took another sip of Malibu, lingering on the porch for a few moments to collect herself.

Once again, Whitney and Parker brought up the rear, and they were the last to bring their bags inside and toss them into a room. A new round of Truth or Dare had already begun as the group gathered in the living room, and Whitney walked in to join them just in time to hear Cameron shout her name. Startled, the brunette jumped a little before laughing as Cameron's excitement over whatever Whit had just walked into caused the blonde to spill some of her tequila. "Easy there Cam..."

Since she was still standing, Whitney hurried over to the kitchen to grab a few paper towels, before walking back over to hand them to Cameron. "Wait, what about me though?" The brunette asked, brows furrowing a little in confusion as she heard Caleb ask Cameron what she'd done. "Who's gonna have a good time?" She asked, glancing around the room trying to figure out what she'd missed. Parker was quick to fill Whitney in, a grin on his face as he informed her that Wes had just been dared to partake in "Seven Minutes in Heaven" with her.

"Well this game escalated quickly..." Whit uttered, her cheeks already becoming warm at the thought. Her gaze reflexively turned to Wes to gauge his reaction. Technically it was his dare, so he could turn it down if he wanted and face some kind of consequences for backing out. The brunette cycled through an array of emotions at the prospect of participating in this adolescent game, and didn’t know how to react. They were adults now, 7 minutes in a closet shouldn’t be such a big deal, right? It’s not like anyone would know if she and Wes just spent the whole time awkwardly standing next to each other... Though Whitney would be lying if she denied that a part of her would be disappointed if that was the case.

Coming to the conclusion that she was overthinking things and making a bigger deal of this than it should be, Whitney took one last pull of Malibu for good measure and set it down on the coffee table. “Okay,” She shrugged a little, gambling that if she played it cool and went along with the dare that it would be less obvious how nervous she was. “Only if you promise you don’t have cooties though...” Whit joked, shooting Wes a smirk and echoing a similar sentiment as her earlier quip about sharing a bed.

If Wes wanted to back out, he could, but rather than resist like she’d normally do, Whit was gonna embrace the cabin shenanigans and whatever came from it. The nerd felt like she had missed a little bit of the high school experience, focusing so much on academics, but this was her opportunity to have one last chance to completely join in on the fun with her friends. All thanks to Anna.

Parker Pierce

Parker could have laid in Ava’s lap forever as she ran her fingers through his hair. The sensation was relaxing, and even though he’d only been joking when he told her to wake him up once they had arrived, it was tempting now to just fall asleep like this. As much as Parker wished the moment could last, when Ava chose dare, he knew he couldn’t be selfish and sat up, deciding to use the opportunity to take Ava’s phone, and the source of her troubles, away. The plan was successful, and Parker was pleased to see Ava relax, even if the booze likely helped a lot too, and laugh along with all the truths and dares. This was the Ava he liked to see. If Parker couldn't be with her in a romantic way, at least he could get satisfaction out of being a good friend she could turn to to have a fun time.

The rest of the trip passed quickly with the fun of the game to distract them. Once at the cabin, Parker resumed his position as bag boy, wanting to expedite the process and get everyone into the house so the fun could continue with little interruption. He was busy pulling out bags and hadn’t noticed Ava preparing her snowball until it was too late. One minute he was minding his own business and the next he was blasted with an icy projectile. “Oh fuck!” He yelped, unharmed but startled. A shiver ran down his back from the snow in his hair as he looked around for his assailant.

When his gaze fell upon Ava he pouted teasingly, “Et tu Boris?” He asked, butchering the famous quote in his tipsy state. A grin quickly replaced the pout though as Ava came over and brushed some of the snow out of his hair. The small gesture thrilled the young man, who relished in these borderline intimate moments. It was so tempting to grab her hand when she removed it from his hair and hold onto it to keep her close to him, but Parker knew he had to resist, and fell back on humor to distract him.

“Oh do I?” Parker chuckled, shaking his head a little to get the last remnants out of his hair that Ava may have missed, showering her with a few snowflakes in the process. “Well...” He continued, turning away from the brunette as he rummaged through his suitcase for a moment. “What about now?” He asked, turning back to her as he pulled on a white snow hat that had floppy bunny ears sewn to it. “Do I still have something on my head?" Parker joked, grinning broadly. "I was gonna wait to pull this fan favorite out, but guess I have to wear some kind of protection when around you and snow."

Parker pulled Ava's bag out of the van and handed it off to her. "Here you go. I'll catch you inside in a moment." He said, letting her escape from the cold into the cabin while he finished unloading. Parker was a couple minutes behind the rest of the group as he finally hauled his duffle bag and backpack into the house. He passed Whitney who had hung out on the porch for a moment, and realized that he should beat her to picking a room to increase his chances of grabbing a bunk in the same room as Ava.

Walking past the living room, he heard Ava comment to Wes about them sharing the love seat, and he hurried past not wanting to walk down that memory lane. Poking his head into each of the rooms, Parker spotted Ava's suitcase, which he now recognized from loading and unloading it, and dropped his bag in the same room. Part of the clown feared that maybe he was being a little too eager to be around Ava as much as possible, but he also reminded himself that this might be his last chance to hang out with her, considering it had been 5 years since the last time he saw her. Plus, it wasn't like Ava showed any signs of being bothered by his presence. The friend zone sucked, for sure, but a guy could dream.

Parker passed Whitney as she went down the hall to pick a room, and he rejoined the group in the living room just as Wes chose dare. For a moment Parker tried to think of a fun activity for Wes to do, but Cameron was quick to the draw, excitedly daring Wes to spend 7 minutes in heaven with... As the blonde looked around for the second victim of the dare, Parker silently prayed she wouldn’t send Ava into the closet with her ex. It had been hard enough to watch his dream girl with his best friend in high school, but it would really suck if he had to witness that again. Besides, Ava was married...

When Whitney was selected by Cameron to join Wes, Parker let out a breath of relief, and was happy to fill Whitney in on what she'd missed when she asked. This was actually perfect. If Wes and Whitney were in the closet together, that meant that Parker would have 7 minutes to spend with Ava without worrying about Wes seeing him talk with his ex, or Whitney wondering why Parker was trying to flirt with her married sister. He knew there was a line he couldn't cross, but he didn't need to be judged for getting as close to that line as he could.

Scheming

Cabin Living Room

nine lives

Just being on that couch in the living room of that cabin, hugging a pillow to her stomach, and watching the flames lick up the edges of the logs in the fireplace, Evelyn couldn't help but feel more relaxed than she had in a long time. The pressure of running her own business, managing her own life, and dealing with the death of one of her closest friends had tightened her muscles seemingly permanently. Maybe it was partially due to the gin, but the brunette could help but believe that Anna knew exactly what her friends would need once she was gone. And that was why she planned the trip for them. Shortly after she took her seat, Wes joined her in the living room, plopping down in his old spot on the loveseat. She tucked her feet up under her on the couch, and it was nearly a polaroid of that day after graduation all those years ago. Granted, they were older, more refined, and better dressed. But it still made her heart warm.

Evelyn reached out to grab her gin bottle from the table, throwing back another swig as Wes shouted out for the others to hurry up. With a grin, she lifted the bottle and added, "Seconded!" Ava was the first to join, gesturing to her old spot alongside Wes on the loveseat. They were a cute couple back in high school, but it was nice to finally see them as their own people rather than a joint unit. Jace joined too and Evie gestured to the plethora of seating. "Join us, Jace. Things are only going to get more interesting from here," she said with a grin, her generally guarded nature much less prevalent. By that point, the baker had consumed enough alcohol to feel good but still be coherent. Previous worries and angers melted away, leaving only a fairly content woman in their place.

Before long, everyone had thrown their bags into a room and gathered in the living room once again. The fire created a warm, yet comfortable atmosphere, only amplified by the alcohol flowing through their bloodstreams. Evie felt the cushions alongside her shift and was a bit surprised to find Caleb sitting there. For a moment, she contemplated telling him to move. But everyone seemed to be having a good time, and she honestly didn't mind being near him as much as she had previously. He felt familiar, comforting in a way, and she enjoyed the feeling. Maybe less-intoxicated Evelyn wouldn't be too happy with her later. But that was a problem for her, not present Evelyn.

Hearing Wes's choice and Cam's dare, the brunette woman smirked at the pair. "To the closet with the both of you!" she said, gesturing behind them to where the hall closet door was. Caleb shifted then, leaning against her a bit more and her breath caught in her throat. Her green eyes met his for a moment, and she had to resist the drunkenness in her that wanted to kiss him again. There was a moment of internal battle, either to push him away or let him use her as a pillow. Deciding on the latter, she shifted slightly so her legs were thrown over his lap and offered him a smile. "As long as you don't mind being my footrest," she answered. Wes and Whitney disappeared into the closet, and Evelyn took another gulp from her bottle of liquid courage. "Alright, let's make this party a little more interesting. You all remember Jennifer Daniels' homecoming party our senior year?" the baker said, a smirk clear on her face. "It's time for part two. I dare all of you boys to streak. In the snow."

The Frosts by default were required to be confident, especially given their social status and reputation. Wesley was no different. Being the son of a supermodel, he knew his looks were above average and, though he wasn't always the smartest in the room, he made up for that in determination and perfectionism. While he tried not to be his father, a cold distant man who would rather work than spend time with his family, or his mother, who lived a life of luxury and would not give that up for anything, including her own child, Wes couldn't help but think he had pieces of both of them as part of his personality. Now and again, he would catch himself sounding like his father, and it would nearly make him sick. As much pressure as was constantly on him, the brunette man would rather quit his job and lose all his money than end up like that man.

Ava's voice as she entered the room pulled Wesley from his thoughts, and he glanced down at the empty spot alongside him before grinning at her. "Share seems like a strong word considering you used to hog the whole thing," he answered teasingly, returning the wink. "It's nice to actually spread out for once." This platonic relationship they had now that they were no longer together was nice. It felt much more natural than their romantic relationship had ever been, and Wes was happy that they could actually get to know each other as people rather than pawns in the games of their parents. His ex's taunts piqued his competitive interest and the businessman leaned forward, folding his hands in front of him. "Well, since I already told you about my frat party escapades, I think it's time for a good, old-fashioned dare."

By that time, the rest of the group had joined them in the living room, some cozying up and others still standing. Cam, in her tequila-induced state, had a look in her eye that Wes recognized from their childhood. She had an idea that would no doubt cause a bit of tension, but he was excited to hear what she had to say. "Seven minutes in heaven? C'mon Cam, we aren't fi-" the brunette man began to reply, but stopped when she pointed her bottle at Whitney, indicated her as his partner. Wesley considered the idea for a moment, watching briefly as she helped Cam clean up the spilled liquor. He could back out, take the truth instead. After all, there was probably no way that Whit would want to be stuck in that closet with him for any amount of time, let alone seven whole minutes, right?

Much to his surprise, however, Whitney agreed, taking another drink from her bottle of Malibu. Following suit, Wesley downed another drink of the scotch and stood from his place on the loveseat, walking over to her. He had never been afraid of intimacy in high school, though most of it was spent in a relationship with Ava. No, most of his nervousness came from the fact that this was Whit, the younger sister of his ex and the girl he had hidden his crush for all those years ago. Nevertheless, the alcohol continued to make him braver and squelched any of those concerns. Offering Whitney a grin, Wes nodded and replied, "I promise I don't have cooties." With that, he grabbed her hand and led her into the designated closet, pulling the door shut behind them.

It was fairly dark, with only the light from the living room peaking beneath the door illuminating the room. It wasn't fairly large, and Wes became acutely aware of how close he was to her. She was adorably shorter than him, so much so that he could probably rest his chin on the top of her head were they to hug. His heart was racing a bit, and he briefly hoped that she couldn't hear it. "You know, you didn't have to agree to come in here with me," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. They could hear the sounds of the others chatting in the other room, but it was otherwise fairly quiet. Smiling down at her, he grinned and added, "But I'm glad you did."

Salves of laughter were still washing over Ava as she approached Parker after hitting his head with a snowball. The amount of tequila she had drunk prior to this assault was also helping quite a lot and even the now uptight lawyer was able to relax and remember what it felt like to be back in high school. At least in her mind. Once again, her fingers disappeared in Parker’s wild nest of hair to brush the snow away. Again, might have been the tequila speaking but her heart softly fluttered, being so close to this boy again. It would be so easy to touch his face, trace his jawline with her fingers and… Well, better not go there now. She was married and felt like this ship had already sailed. Ava should have spoken up, she should have been more courageous back then. But…she and Parker could still hang out, what Ben didn’t see, it did not hurt him.

“It’s Bru…hic…tus…” Hiccups took over in the middle of the world and Ava’s hand shot up to cover her mouth. A few snowflakes fell on her face which made her giggle and distracted her from Parker rummaging through the suitcase. Only when he emerged with the most adorable hat on his head, it made Ava squeal. “Oh my god!!! This is adorable!” she exclaimed and touched the hat, feeling how soft it was. “I’m so stealing it from you once you fall asleep.” she grinned, tugging onto those ears for a while. Parker could always put a smile on her face. That’s why he was one of the most favorite people for her. Ever. Why she ever stopped talking to him, she had no idea.

It was later in the cabin after she put her things in a room, randomly chosen as she was not in a state to try and figure out which one was better or which bed she wanted to sleep in. Her interests were elsewhere and she beelined straight to the living room, already running down the memory lane as she saw Wes in the loveseat they used to share. His comment was teasing, causing the brunette to laugh wholeheartedly. “Well, you never stopped me. And you were a really good pillow.” Ava poked back, remembering how she used to lean into the boy version of Wesley Frost so they would keep the appearance of the perfect couple. Teenage dream if you will. Both from the good families, old money they called those, important parents, high society status. It only made sense that their children would date each other. Ava still remembered the day they asked her to do so. She threw a real tantrum. Not that she would not like Wes. But there was no chemistry, nothing. They were friends and that was the beginning and end of everything. Now, thank god, the two could finally be all natural around each other.

As Wes chose dare, Ava truly started to pay attention, especially after Seven Minutes in Heaven were mentioned. She had her own fair share of there back at high school but the real thrill came when Cameron, in her tipsy state, exclaimed Whitney’s name. A smile curled Ava’s lips as her gaze fell upon her younger sister who was trying to play it cool. Yet, Ava knew her well enough to know that inside, her little sissy wasn’t as cool as cucumber. She clapped, encouraging the couple to disappear in the closet already. And the second Wes closed the door after them, Ava shot up and took the loveseat for herself. After all, it was her old seat and sharing it with Wes now would feel…not right. But noticing a certain man in the room, a flock of butterflies exploded in her stomach and her eyes met with Parker’s. Ava offered a small smile, moving a little to the side, tapping the place next to her to ask Parker to join her. “And bring that bottle with you.” she winked at the class clown, being absolutely oblivious to the fact that she should keep her appearance of a married woman. To hell with that now. To hell with Ben. At least for now.

For all those years, memory of Cameron Hale was in the back of Jace’s mind. Memory stored preserved, never forgotten. He liked to remember the times the two were getting closer and closer. At that point, Jace started to think that maybe he was even worth something. Growing up in a family like his, it was not easy to have that confidence that Jace was something more than a street thug. His father certainly made sure Jace never really built up that confidence that he could lead a different life than a local troublemaker and eventually a local drunk, known and despised by everyone. Just like the daddy dearest. And with Cameron, Jace had that feeling for the first time ever that maybe his fate had not been predetermined for him. She always gave him that good feeling that there was something more in him. That was why it hurt so bad when her father approached him. Words of that man cut deep and though Jace could easily snap that guy in half, he just backed out. He never came to pick Cam up for the Homecoming dance and decided that she truly was better off without him. After all, he would just drag her down. It was only when Riley became his responsibility that Jace realized, for the second time, that he was not a completely lost cause.

But now, it seemed like he might be getting the second chance. Cam was here, she came and Jace felt that bond between them. Maybe it was just him but that moment in front of the church, when he went after her and pulled her in a hug, Jace felt that maybe, if he played his cards right, he could show her, and her parents, he was not that asshole from five years ago. He changed a lot and yes, maybe his body was now covered in ink but he was not that same guy with bad boy status from high school. Jace was strongly determined to show that to Cam, not push her into something she didn’t want but he was definitely not giving up without a fight.

Walking in the living room, he came just in time to see the dare and he had to laugh, seeing Cam in that hilarious tipsy state. She was definitely not the girl he remembered, at least not when it came to drinking, and he really adored this version of her. But his eyes did go wide after realizing she sent the younger sister to the closet. Ava was the obvious choice, considering her history with Wes and though she was married, well, Jace was nothing if unconventional. So what? It was just the game anyway. But Ava was already inviting Parker over to sit with her and Jace’s tipsy mind was drink to connect the dots. It was hard, okay?

The tattooed man was just about to take a seat when Evie spoke again, mentioning the senior year party. Jennifer Daniels was the one with… Before he managed to realize it, Evie said it, daring all boys to streak. Jace grinned, taking a long swing out of his bottle. As he looked around to see reactions, he noticed wide-eyed Ava, covering her mouth but he suspected she was hiding even wider grin there than his own. “This sounds like some desperate housewife episode.” he laughed but set his bottle down. His fingers found the hem of his shirt and without hesitation, he pulled it over his head, throwing it at Evie. “Thirsty much, Auntie Evie?” he teased her, using the name Riley had for her as he kicked his shoes away. Being naked in the snow was not something he would be keen on but it was a dare and first, Jace never refused any and second, he was drunk, anything was possible. “Gentlemen? Shall we? Or are you two just a pair of pussies?” he taunted Caleb and Parker and just like that, the rest of his clothes went away. Jace was not ashamed of his body, quite the contrary. And then again, his tattoos were basically another layer of clothing. The man moved to the door, ready to run out when he looked over his shoulder. “So? Am I doing this alone or what?”

Cameron Hale

Maybe somewhere in Cameron's intoxicated mind, she knew what she was doing, sending Wes and Whitney into that closet. While the feelings between them were not exactly put out in the open, Cameron could swear she saw something between them during the ride here. Or maybe she was just drunk and still wishing for her own happy ending; who knew? Even with Jace's apology, she didn't expect anything to happen on that front. He'd made it clear the night of homecoming that he wasn't interested in her like she thought he might be. The thought still made her sad, but it didn't cut as deep anymore. Not like it used to.

Spilling tequila on herself, she groaned slightly, but by the time Whitney appeared at her side with napkins to help her clean up, the former 'good girl' was giggling. "Thanks, Whit." She smiled at the nerd, taking the napkins from her and dabbing at her front, soaking up the tequila that hadn't already soaked into her clothes. Most of it had already soaked into her shirt, though, so she just shrugged and balled the napkins up in her hand. "Oh well. Shit happens." She grinned, wiggling her eyebrows at the other girl. "Now, into the closet with you." She echoed Evie's words with another giggle, watching as she entered the closet with Wes.

It didn't escape her notice that Wes took her by the hand before they entered, and she leaned forward some in her seat eagerly. Too far, though, because she almost flew forward onto the floor. Only her hands shooting out to grab the area of the chair in front of her stopped herself. Feeling warmth flood her cheeks she pushed herself back up as casually as she could, her eyes flicking to Evie when she brought up the homecoming party. A small frown presented on Cam's face, because she did remember that party. It was the night she'd been ditched, and she almost hadn't gone.

Maybe that night was still more of a sore spot than she thought.

She was so lost in her thoughts she completely missed the dare. Next thing she knew, Jace's shirt was flying through the air, landing on Evie. Cam's eyes had widened as the fabric flew through the air, but that and the flush already on her cheeks from almost falling was nothing compared to what she felt when she looked over at Jace and he was kicking his shoes off. "What did I miss?" She asked, though her question was answered at least mostly as Jace continued to take his clothes off. She could hear her inner voice screaming, telling her to look away, but she could not.

He taunted Parker and Caleb, and then that was it. He stood there in all his naked glory, and Cam's breath caught in her throat. Her tequila sat forgotten on the table next to her, her lips parted in surprise and shock. Caleb pushed himself off of Evie and Cam's eyes darted in his direction long enough to see his clothes start to come off as well. "Oh, my god." She looked back at Jace, and then Caleb's naked form ran in front of her and she couldn't help it. She busted out into another fit of giggles as Caleb yanked the door open, hollering before he darted out into the snow.

"Holy... shit..." Cameron managed to get out, laughing as she stood, swaying a bit on her feet before she grabbed her tequila bottle. Taking a swig from it, she turned towards Ava and Evie, another devilish grin tugging on her features. "Do you think they'd be mad if we locked them outside?" She giggled, glancing towards the wide open door. "Or we could hide their clothes, though I don't think any of them would have an issue being naked for an extended period of time." She rolled her eyes, a smile still tugging at her lips as she took another drink from her bottle.

Caleb Thompson

Despite being sober on the ride to the cabin, Caleb had a pretty good time playing truth or dare with the others. It was a childish game, sure, and some of the questions and dares were childish, but whoever said Caleb had grown up? He certainly hadn't. He was pretty much the same guy from their high school days, just with a few more fights under his belt and quite possibly a few pending charges or things he should have gotten charged for. He still did drugs, still sold them. Still didn't open his heart to anyone, at least not since Evie. She'd been the only one, and he couldn't deny his attraction to her still.

Maybe that's why he took the opportunity to lounge on her and use her as a pillow on the couch. He knew she could very well tell him to move, but he was banking on the alcohol coursing through her veins to make her a little easier to talk to. He hadn't missed the tense set of her shoulders when they'd first gotten in the van, and it made him sad but he could understand, especially considering the way they'd left things. Or rather, the way he'd left things. Showing up with a bloody face, cuts and bruises galore, maybe even a broken rib he'd never gotten checked out. And then he'd kissed her, and dipped.

Had she never forgiven him? Would he have, if he were in her shoes? Probably not. But feeling her fling her feet over his lap and hearing her words, a grin spread on his face anyway and he laid his arm over her legs, shrugging. "Not at all. It's something I'm good at, you know." His eyes were drawn to Cam as she dared Wes and Whit into the closet, and they went. And then Evie spoke up, and Caleb looked back at her, his eyes slightly wide but a grin on his face at her dare and mention of the homecoming party. He'd been fucked up that night for sure, but he remembered some.

Jace was the first to start removing clothes, and Caleb didn't move at first. Not until Jace called him and Parker out, that is. "Oh, hell no. You're not calling me out like that, dude." Caleb grinned wider as he moved Evie's legs and pushed himself up, removing his shirt and tossing it over his shoulder, where it landed on the couch beside Evie. "I'm not drunk enough for this." Looking around, he grabbed the nearest bottle to him, taking a good long drink before he set it back down. "Thank you to whoever that was." Smirking, he ran his fingers through his hair as he stripped the rest of the way down.

Jogging to the door, he yanked it open, feeling the brisk, cold air slap him in the face and... well, you know. Shivering, he cursed as he laughed some, and then shrugged. "Fuck it." Hollering loudly, he darted out into the cold ass snow, doing a few twirls and even striking a pose with his back to the cabin. "I'm glad there's only us out here." He placed his hands on his hips as he looked around, his eyes landing on the other two guys. "I couldn't imagine scarring some little kid or something, jesus..." He turned back to the cabin, tilting his head some. "How long do you think we have to stay out here?"

Whitney Jeffries

Whitney's attempts to help Cameron clean up her spilt tequila were in vain, and quickly derailed when she learned that she was the other half of the couple dared to partake in Seven Minutes in Heaven. Though her cheeks flushed immediately, the younger Jeffries sister tried her best to play it cool. She shot a teasing remark about cooties to Wes, but it wasn't the childish, make believe germs that she was worried about. What she was really worried about, was how Ava would feel about this dare.

Chancing a glance at her sister, Whitney checked to see how Ava was reacting to the news that her ex and her little sister would be locked in a closet together. Surprisingly, when Whit met her sister's gaze for a moment, Ava was smiling and clapping to encourage them into the closet. A wave of relief washed over the brunette, thankful that her sister didn't seem upset. However, with the relief came a new sense of nervousness... Ava was the main reason Whitney had been able to hide from whatever her feelings for Wes may or may not have been. He had always been off limits, but now... Now she had seven minutes of no rules or limits with Wes, and that was just as terrifying as hurting Ava's feelings.

It was too late to back out now though, as Whitney had already indicated that she was willing to head into the closet, and Wes was now approaching her after a last pull of his scotch. At least they would both be armed with a fair amount of liquid courage. The nerd could do nothing but nod silently when Wes assured her he didn't have cooties and took her hand, leading them into the closet as the others urged them onwards. She held onto his hand tightly, trying to quell the butterflies in her stomach as Wes closed the door behind them.

The light from the crack beneath the door allowed Whitney to make out where Wes was in the closet, but was not enough to allow her to see his face or expressions yet. Realizing this meant he likely couldn't see her well either, Whit relaxed a little, no longer worried about keeping her expressions in check. Despite the darkness and futility of the gesture, Whit glanced up at Wes when he mentioned that she didn't have to agree to join him in the closet.

For a moment, her brows furrowed, immediately thinking that this meant that Wes was disappointed she'd agreed to the dare... but her heart skipped a beat when he added that he was glad she did. As her eyes adjusted to the darkness, Whit was able to make out Wes's grin, and the corners of her mouth were tugged upwards into a shy smile.

"You are?" Whitney asked, her voice betraying a little of her surprise. "It's not because you brought work problems you need help with, is it?" She added jokingly, trying to keep things light, even as her gaze lingered on Wes's lips for a little too long.

Up to this point, the only time Wes and Whitney had really been alone together was when she was helping him with school work. She'd be lying if she denied that their Tuesday and Thursday study sessions were her favorite part of the week. She had always looked forward to helping Wes, but perhaps that had less to do with being helpful and more to do with getting to spend time with him.

Now, however, helping him with math or work was the last thing she wanted to do with their limited time. And yeah, they could just stand here together and talk about random things for seven minutes, but where was the fun in that, the Malibu asked. Whit's heart raced even faster as she realized this was the perfect chance to throw caution to the wind and let temptation take over for once. Wes was sweet and handsome and she'd spent most of the ride over here flustered just from sitting next to him...

Literally leaning into the moment this time, Whitney took a step closer to Wes, eliminating even more of the already limited space between them due to the small closet. The dark haired man towered over Whit, especially at such a close proximity, and it occurred to her that the height difference put her at a disadvantage.

"Were you always this tall?" Whitney heard herself think aloud with a pout. Even on her tiptoes, the brunette would be just shy of being able to accomplish any of her suddenly brazen thoughts without Wes meeting her half way. Though, he had said he was glad she'd joined him, so maybe...

"Wes...?" Whitney began, not really sure what she was trying to ask him. She glanced up at the young man, biting the inside of her lip as she searched for her words. Her hand still held onto Wes's, having not let it go even when they were shut in, and she subconsciously pulled it towards her. At this rate, her actions would have to speak louder than the words that were failing her.

Parker Pierce

Once Whitney and Wes had disappeared into the closet, Parker laughed as Ava rushed over to claim the loveseat for herself. He couldn't help but grin widely when Ava noticed him and patted the space beside her on the couch. Parker didn't need to be asked twice and took a few steps over towards his crush. Unfortunately, the clown never made it to the couch, and was interrupted by Evie's dare. Glancing over at Evie when she mentioned Jennifer Daniels' party, Parker was distracted from his excited migration towards Ava just long enough for him to catch his foot on the leg of the coffee table and go sprawling onto the floor.

By some miracle, he managed to save the remaining liquid in his bottle without spilling a drop, and held the whiskey up over his head triumphantly as he laid on the ground. "Fuck, streaking? In this weather?" He exclaimed a little in disbelief as he pushed himself up into a sitting position, looking between Evie and the other members of their party. Ava was already covering her mouth and looked to be holding back giggles.

Parker looked over at Jace and Caleb, the former already starting to undress. Caleb's response wasn't as immediate, and Parker decided he'd hold out to see if his stoner buddy was going to bite on the dare as well. Though when Jace taunted Parker and Caleb about being pussies, the clown's ears turned red beneath his beanie and he jumped up from the ground. "And let you have all the fun? Fat chance." Parker replied as Caleb responded to being called out as well.

The clown quickly lost his shoes, shirt, pants, and, last but not least, boxers... but decidedly kept the white bunny beanie securely on his head. For Ava's amusement.... and also so Ava didn't steal it like she had threatened to earlier.

It was a little intimidating being in the buff beside Jace- the man was built like a Roman god- but Parker had never been terribly shy about nudity. He might not have had biceps for days, but he worked out... enough. Los Angeles was full of attractive people, and Parker had done his best to keep up and fit in. It would have been nice to have a layer of tattoos to act like painted on clothes though. Next to Jace, he and Caleb looked exceptionally naked.

Holding his whiskey bottle strategically to hide the crown jewels until the true streaking began, Parker glanced over at Ava and grinned with a shrug. "Usually it's tequila that makes my clothes fall off..." He said jokingly, giving her a wink before taking a last pull of whiskey.

Jace and Caleb had both made their way to the door, and Parker quickly joined them, not wanting to be left behind. Caleb opened the door and the rush of frigid air hit them immediately. "Remember ladies," Parker said, turning to glance over his shoulder at the giggling and grinning women. "It's cold outside..." The clown said, referring to the shrinkage factor that could occur. "Objects in the cold are larger than they may appear."

And with that, Caleb took off running into the snow and Parker followed right after, still carrying his whiskey, with bunny ears flopping in the wind. "Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck...." He hollered with every barefooted step into the icy snow. "It's a bit nipply out, eh chaps?" He chuckled to distract from the discomfort as they ran through the front yard. jumping up and down in place a bit one Caleb had come to a stop a few dozen yards from the house.

"Yeah, no shit. Poor kids would run home screaming." Parker grinned, his teeth chattering a little as he came to a stop near Caleb, a few dozen yards from the house. "Ugh, I don't know dude, if we just run back to the house now does that count?" The clown took another long pull of his whiskey, desiring the burning sensation and warmth from the liquid. He bounced around a little in place, trying to keep moving to stay warm.

"Evie!! You gonna give us the signal that it's okay to come back in?" Parker called out, his breath visible in a cloud of steam in front of him. "Or are you ladies gonna strip down and join us out here? We've got some beautiful 30 degree weather! I think y'all would find it invigorating." He said with a taunting grin. "Don't be shy!"

Alcohol leads to decreased inhibition, and decreased inhibition leads to poor decisions. Situations like Jennifer Daniels' homecoming party were perfect examples of that. If Evelyn had stopped to think about it before she said anything, she might have realized that mentioning that particular party could be stoking a five-year-old anger fire within the group. Until today, that was the last time she had actually seen Jace naked, but for an entirely different reason. Thankfully, that thought hadn't really crossed her mind or the minds of the others. Almost immediately after those words left her mouth, Jace set his bottle down and pulled his shirt over his head, tossing it so that it perfectly landed in her lap. Though none of the men had been particularly shy about stripping down back then, and she could only assume things hadn't changed since, Evie couldn't say she was entirely surprised her tattooed friend was the first to start stripping down.

"I've had too much gin to be thirsty," she answered with a smirk, folding his shirt nicely in her lap. Jace's taunts continued to Parker and Caleb, the latter of which wasted no time owning up to the challenge. He untangled himself from beneath her legs and stood, tossing his shirt into her lap as well. "What do I look like, a damn clothing rack to you?" she said, feigning anger as evident by the grin on her lips. Nevertheless, she folded it as well and sat both pieces of clothing on the coffee table. Parker's naked form soon joined the other two men, and Evie couldn't help but laugh at his words. Unsure if the flush on her cheeks was due to the alcohol or their presence, the baker took another drink from her bottle just as her male friends took off into the snow. She stood from the couch, holding back giggles as she walked over to the doorway and peered out.

"I think they're perfectly fine being naked, just look at them," Evelyn said with a grin, gesturing to the guys on the snowy lawn. Hearing Parker call to her, the brunette cupped one hand around her mouth to shout back, "Just a few more minutes! We'll let you know!" Stifling a giggle, she turned back to Ava and Cam, and said, "Maybe we shouldn't lock the door, but I think we should let them stay out there for a bit." Pushing the door closed, Evie left it unlocked but let out a laugh as she moved into the kitchen to get a glass of water. As she filled a glass from the tap, a couple of items on the countertop caught her eye. Though Evelyn was a baker and created some incredibly complex and beautiful desserts, there was something beautiful about the simplicity that was the s'more. She had made them with her parents on family camping trips in Allegheny National Forest. So, the sight of the bag of marshmallows, bar of chocolate, and box of graham crackers set off a fire of nostalgia in her that she just couldn't ignore.

Evelyn gathered the items into her arms, including her bottle of gin and a blanket, and headed out the back door with a smile on her face. She passed the hot tub that they would no doubt use later and walked down the deck stairs through the snow to where a set of Adirondack chairs surrounded a stone fire pit. A large stump was set adjacent to them as a makeshift side table, and she dusted the snow off the top before setting her collection of goodies down. Staring into the fire pit that already had some logs and kindling arranged inside, Evie bit her lip as she tried to remember what her father had taught her about lighting fires. Make a cross out of the kindling over top of some dry twigs and leaves as tinder. Light a twig and let it burn for a bit. Put it beneath the tinder. Fan until the flame grows. It was procedural, should be easy. But in her drunken and slightly chilled haze, she couldn't get it to light. "Dammit," Evie muttered under her breath, pulling a cigarette from her pack in her pocket and lighting it between her lips. She shivered as she inhaled, savoring the fact that at least if she couldn't light a fire, she could light a cancer stick.

It had been a while since Wesley Frost had been in a dark closet with a girl. As far as he knew, the last time was the after-graduation party, after his break up with Ava, when he was finally free from the expectation of growing up with some sort of arranged relationship that had no spark. As much as he loved Ava, it was all platonic, a friend-to-friend love that meant he cared about her but didn't want to be with her. Seven Minutes in Heaven seemed a bit childish, even back then. But it had been the first time he kissed a girl other than Ava almost since he entered high school and, at the time, that was exciting to him. But now, he stood in that dimly lit room with the woman he had had a crush on all through high school, the one he could never be with because he was expected to date her sister. And she didn't seem to want to move away from him either.

"Yes, I am," Wes answered, unsure if his newfound confidence was due to being back in that cabin after all that time, the alcohol coursing through his veins, or simply getting older. Whatever it was, it brought a flush to his cheeks that he was happy the shadows seemed to hide. Letting out a low chuckle, Wes shook his head. "I mean, I always have work problems. But that's not what I need help with right now, no," he answered lowly, making out Whitney's smile as he spoke, "After all, it is neither Tuesday or Thursday." The brunette man wasn't sure how long they had been standing there already, it could have been seconds or hours. Either way, the temptations to lean in closer to her, to breathe her in, and enjoy being around her overwhelmed his scotch-affected mind for a moment.

Wes was a little surprised when Whitney stepped forward, sure that it showed on his features. She had always been the shy one, the girl to never make the first move. She felt so petite this close to him and they both noticed it. "I think so, though I might have shrunk a bit in my old age," he answered teasingly, his tone a little breathy as he spoke. His blue gaze glanced down at her lips, lingering there for a moment as he fought back the temptations that flitted around his mind. He knew he had to be careful, not let drunken inhibitions cause otherwise unwanted actions. Her hand was still in his, warm and soft. Feeling her pull him closer and hearing his name fall from her lips was all it took.

Wesley took a step forward, using his body to gently push hers backward until she was against the closet wall behind her. He dropped her hand and instead placed his palms flat against the wall on either side of her shoulders, effectively caging her in. Leaning down until he was eye level with her, Wes paused for just a moment, giving her a chance to stop him if she wanted to. But, when she didn't, he smiled and pressed his lips against hers. Almost immediately, it felt like fireworks were going off in his head and, though his heart was racing, he wasn't sure he ever wanted it to stop.

Cam, Evie, Parker, Caleb ( MadiRaiCat MadiRaiCat ; Desert_Blossom Desert_Blossom ; apolla apolla ))

Maybe Ava was a bit too open in her flirty looks and smiles at Parker. She was a married woman and the only man who was supposed to be getting these looks and smiles was Benjamin Novak. And yet, ever since that dreadful phone call was over, ever since her phone disappeared deep in her shopper and later in Whitney’s bag, Ava had not thought about him once. He simply vanished from her mind and her bottle of tequila was largely responsible for that. The rest was caused by Ava finally letting go as she immersed herself in the simple fun with her high school friends. And the fact that she was now batting her thick eyelashes covered in a layer of mascara, perfectly curled upwards, at Parker, it was only exciting for her. She did not feel one pang of guilt. Maybe it really was all the booze. And maybe she was finally her truest self, showing what she wanted to show for all those years. And maybe she was just that horrible person who secretly wanted to cheat on her husband. One way or another, she wanted Parker to come and share the loveseat with her.

It was shortly after that Evie mentioned the party and a few seconds before the actual dare and Parker went tumbling down on the ground, making Ava jump in her seat, squealing a little. Seeing the messy-haired boy sprawled on the ground like that made her burst out in laughter before she actually thought of checking up on him. “Are you…are you al-alright there?” she asked in a tone woven through and through with laughter, unable to tame it for quite some time. Only when Evie posed the dare, Ava finally shut up and slapped her hand over her lip to hide another salve of giggles. A part of her actually thought boys would reject the dare. Things were really becoming bold here. First, her ex and her sister in the closet and now, three other boys all naked. But seeing how Jace did not hesitate for a second and lost his clothes, closely followed by Caleb and Parker, Ava lifted up a little in her seat, sporting an amused grin. She was not even trying to hide she was looking. Parker’s wink colored her cheeks with a reddish hue and before she managed to say anything, all the boys were at the door.

Ava followed the other two girls to the door after the boys ran outside and she heard Parker’s last remark. “Are you trying to convince us or yourselves?” she snickered but only for the sake of the banter. From what she saw…well. She saw enough. Enough for her drunken mind to dive deep into the gutter of naughty thoughts she never thought she could have ever again. And yet, here she was, thinking about doing unspeakable things with…get your shit together, girl, NOW!

Just the idea of stripping and running naked in the snow made the dark-haired beauty shudder and when Parker taunted them, she turned on her heel and marched away from the door to show she was not going anywhere. Her bottle of tequila was comfortably sitting on the coffee table and the lawyer grabbed it, taking another warming swig. “Maybe we could…” But she never finished as Evie was already moving to the kitchen. Ava didn’t have any specific idea but she followed, curious about what the baker was doing. It took her a second to recognize all the items in Evie’s hands and yes, s’mores sounded like the perfect snack right now. Excited Ava almost hopped to the fire pit, looking forward to the warm fire and the sticky treat. Ava didn’t know the first thing about how to build a fire so she let Evelyn do it and pulled a pack of her menthol slim cigarettes, lighting one up in a matter of seconds. “Want one?” she asked, offering Cam the pack. Considering the goodie-2-shoes now joined them in drinking, maybe she could use a smoke too.

“Hey, what if we helped it a little…you know…like…” Ava took a long drag from her cigarette as she walked to the fire pit, holding the cancer stick between index and middle finger of her right hand. Her other hand with fingers wrapped around the tequila bottle was coming closer and Ava was ready to pour the liquor over the twigs. Only a familiar voice stopped her and she flinched as Jace appeared with the other two men in a tow, saying something about how the girls never gave the signal. “Shush. You survived, didn’t you?” Ava laughed and her dark brown gaze scanned the boys, apparently freezing to the bone. Her unfinished cigarette landed in the fire pit and the girl grabbed a big fluffy blanket from a nearby chair. “Come on, I’ll get you all warmed up.” she chirped and wrapped the large thing around Parker after she approached him. He was cold as ice and Ava could only remotely imagine how it felt to stand in the snow, barefoot. Her hands ran up and down his blanket-covered arms to create a little friction and ended resting on his neck. “Let me make you something nice, hot chocolate or something.” she smiled, trying to ignore her tequila haze. But her body and mind very well perceived the proximity between her and the boy in the funny hat, making her feel everything she had felt back at high school and more. And this time, there was no Wes to come and interrupt them, was there?

It wasn’t like Jace was shy or ashamed of his body. God knew that ink-covered, ripped, bulky form even earned him a buck or two when he really needed. Not that he was proud about his little side gig or anything. But he did what he had to do to survive. And as long as it put food in Riley’s mouth and kept him warm and safe, Jace had nothing to say about anything he did. Moreover, he worked on his body, worked out quite a lot and added a new ink every now and then. It was almost unbelievable, looking at his tattooed skin, that he could still find a place where to put a new picture. All in all, the man had nothing to be ashamed of and so it did not take him long to lose his clothes. “Don’t you get smart with me, Evelyn.” he flashed a toothy grin at his sister from another mister as she reflected his thirsty comment. He remembered the Homecoming party enough to know what happened. At the party and after. Events with Evie and following events with Caleb as well. Jesus, the guy wouldn’t stay down, no matter how many times Jace warned him. He got the stoner good back then, really painted his face in all shades of red.

Without further ado, Jace teased the other two guys in the room and had to laugh out loud when Caleb took it immediately, stripped within seconds and ran out, hollering like a mad man. Parker was not far behind them and soon, all three guys were out in the snow. Jace almost fainted the second his bar feet touched the cold snow but bit his tongue. He’d rather die than show he was uncomfortable. And yes, he was incredibly happy that he had reconsidered, taking Riley with him. The little dude would have an absolute blast here, playing in the snow and all but this…this was not exactly how he should ever see his daddy. Or his friends. Or anyone for that matter. The kid was well off at Ronnie’s and though he might be teaching his friends a new vocab or two, it was much better than anything he would encounter here. And it also gave Jace a chance to go wild once again, not to hold back, to return to his high school times and be his own person again.

To Caleb’s question, Jace just shrugged. “I don’t think we’re in charge of that here.” he shook his head and motioned to the three lovely ladies in the doorway. “God knows what is whirling in those pretty tipsy heads.” he shrugged, folding his arms on his broad chest. His breath was curling in small white clouds around his lips in the cold mountain weather. The view was breathtaking and had he been properly dressed, Jace would totally enjoy watching white peaks all over them, even with that much whiskey in his system. “Yo, guys. I have a sappy fucking question. You think…is this our second chance?” Jace asked all of a sudden, tearing his gaze from the mountains to look at his mates. “We all have some sort of unfinished business, don’t tell me I’m wrong.” His eyes found the door of the cabin which was closed now, girls were gone and Jace narrowed his eyes because this did not sound like they were letting them in any time soon. “If they locked the door I swear…”

Cold was biting deep and even a big guy like Jace was slowly but surely freezing his ass off. “Okay, fuck that, I’m kicking the door if I have to.” And without wasting a second more, the hulk of a man marched towards the door and opened them, or rather, barged inside inly to find the living area empty. “What the…where the hell are they?” he mumbled but couldn’t miss the painfully sweet feeling of warmth spreading inside his body again. Cold snow pierced through him thoroughly and his lips turned the slight shade of blue already and not, his body was thawing in the cabin, warmed by soft flames of the fire in the fireplace.

Not really caring to put his clothes on, Jace walked further inside to the kitchen, looking for the ladies. The place was unusually quiet and he was wondering whether Wes and Whitney were still in the closet. Not that he was going to check. Instead, he was making his way to the kitchen, finding it empty as well. Every now and then, he looked over his shoulder to see if he was on his own or Caleb and Parker were coming as well and in the end, he found those three culprits around the fire pit. “Okay, I see, were you trying to send us a smoke signals, Evie? Almost froze my ass off out there, thank you very much. If Riley is never gonna have siblings, it’s on you three gals.” he grinned, looking down at the non-existent fire. Ava returned his comment with something like them surviving and Jace rolled his eyes. “Look at you, Miss Advocate. You gonna use that tequila to light the fire? Is that what they teach you in law school?” All that was a good old banter and no one took it seriously. Ava soon went to tend to Parker and Jace looked around, trying to locate one last place that was going to help him get warmer. “Cam? You think you could show me how to make that hot tub work?” he asked, sporting his most charming grin. It wasn’t like he couldn’t. But getting in the hot tub without any company, you’d have to be either completely on your own or the saddest person ever. So Jace reached out, offering his hand to the blonde, hoping she would accept.

Cameron Hale

The dares had definitely gotten more bold as the game went on, and once they arrived at the cabin it seemed to be a no-holds-barred kind of situation. First she'd dared Wes and Whitney into the closet for seven minutes, and then Evie had brought up the party that Cameron realized still held a sore spot in her heart. After being ditched at homecoming, Cameron had literally cried off all her makeup, staining the beautiful pastel dress she'd bought with money she'd earned with eyeliner and mascara streaks. She'd climbed out onto her roof, a favorite place of hers she went to hide when the world got to be too much. She'd only ever told Anna about it, and Jace, actually, a few nights before that very incident. When she heard someone coming out of her window, she'd thought it would be him. But no, it was Anna.

And of course she cried in Anna's arms, telling her everything. Anna just listened, the good friend she was. Then she pulled Cameron inside and picked her out a new outfit, and dragged her to that party. Not that Cameron was really kicking and screaming, but she'd really just wanted to stay home. People had seen her and Jace together for a while at that point though, and so the rumors that he'd ended up in bed with someone else that night had circled quickly. She didn't find out until later that it was Evie, and yes, that had hurt like hell. But Cameron figured that was his way of telling her he really wasn't interested, so she'd made the decision to go off to college, like her parents wanted. And look at her now, still the apple of her parents eyes. Not.

The three guys getting naked was enough to draw Cameron from her thoughts and distract her completely. Her face turned red as her jaw dropped, the banter between Evie and Jace making her shift uncomfortably, but only for a second. She shoved all thoughts of their hookup from her mind as she jumped up from her chair, grabbing her tequila to take another pull from the bottle. The drunker she got, the less she would think about it. Right? Soon enough, the girls were at the door, watching the three naked men out in the snow. It was quite a sight, but Cameron could only look at one of them. Stepping aside as Evie shut the door, Cameron giggled, the tequila definitely replacing the blood in her veins as she turned towards the other two. Glancing towards the closet, she wondered if it'd been seven minutes yet.

But before she could ask, Evie took off towards the kitchen, Ava behind her. Not wanting to be left behind, the blonde followed them, spotting the smore's supplies. Grinning, she nodded eagerly as the trio headed out to the backyard. Shivering slightly, Cameron glanced up at the sky as they headed for the fire pit, Evie starting to try and make a fire. When Ava offered her a smoke, Cameron's first instinct was to decline, but then she thought about it and she nodded. "Sure." The pretty brunette handed her a menthol smoke and the lighter, and Cameron lit up. It wasn't her first time smoking, but around them it would be. Handing the lighter back, she watched as Ava started to pour her alcohol on the fire, stopping in her tracks when the voices of the guys sounded off from behind them.

Cameron turned, the flush returning to her face when she realized they were still naked. Mentally shaking herself, she whirled back towards the fire, listening as Ava told Parker she'd warm him up. Caleb leaned down beside Evie to help with the fire, and Cam took a small step back, taking a drag from the cigarette. The tequila had given her temporary amnesia, or at least distracted her from Jace's presence, until he spoke from beside her. Turning her head towards him, cigarette burning in her hand but forgotten, she looked down as he offered her his hand. Though she had no idea how to work a hot tub, the tequila was making her brave. Taking one more drag from the smoke, she tossed it down onto the unstarted fire before she turned back to Jace and took his hand.

Walking up the steps towards the hot tub, she let go of his hand so he could remove the cover while she went to the controls. Honestly, it looked like Japanese, but she did recognize on/off. Flipping that one, she pushed a few other buttons to start the jets, and then shot up. "I did it!" She grinned at him, looking down at herself a moment later. "Okay hold." Unzipping her boots, she tore them off and tossed them aside, then moved to grab the hem of her shirt. She removed it, revealing a tank top underneath. She had a few scars on her arms, but she wasn't even thinking about them as she looked back at the hot water. The light might hide them from view, but not from touch. "Me first!" She giggled as she threw one of her legs over the side, finding the bottom of the step and hopping over. The alcohol made her clumsy and she slipped, but she caught herself and pushed herself back up, now mostly wet. "Okay, now you!"

Caleb Thompson

The snow was fucking cold. Worse than cold. Caleb had thought he was cold on the quick trek from the van to the cabin, but now being out in the snow in his birthday suit was a thousand times worse. "Fuuuuuck this." He muttered, bouncing from one foot to the other, looking down at his feet. "They better have coffee going or something." He glanced back at the cabin, smirking as he saw the girls standing in the doorway. Turning around to face them, he placed his hands on his hips and struck a pose, proud of his nudity and courage to stand there in the snow. He laughed as Parker invited them to come join them, shaking his head slightly. "There's no way." He told Parker, his smirk turning into a bit of a frown when Evie called back just a few more minutes, then shut the door. "You don't think...?"

He looked between the other two guys, his eyes lingering on Jace at his question. "Second chance?" He echoed, looking back at the closed door, picturing Evie in his mind as he did so. "I mean... maybe..." His voice had grown softer, growing lost in his own thoughts before Jace spoke again. "I'm fucking down. Kick it open if you have to." The three guys practically ran back to the door, but thankfully, it wasn't locked. Blowing out a sharp breath as they stepped into the warmer cabin, he kicked the door shut once they were all in, flipping the lock. It was then he noticed the girls weren't in the room anymore, and he lifted a brow in confusion. "Kitchen?" He asked, starting in that direction, ignoring his carefully folded clothes on the couch. They wanted naked guys, they got them.

The kitchen was also empty, but they found the girls pretty easily once they looked out back. "Fuck me, again?" He muttered as they ventured back out into the snow, over to the girls. No way was he going to puss out now and be the first to put clothes back on, though. Once they got closer, he realized Evie was trying to start a fire, but she was failing. Though his fingers were frozen and his lighter was inside, she had one, thankfully. He slipped through the others and knelt beside her, making sure he didn't touch the snow with anything but his feet. Because fuck that. "Need help?" He asked her softly, reaching out to take the lighter from her. "Looks like you need a little more kindling." He looked around. Mostly everything was covered in snow, but there was an area under the porch that looked relatively dry.

He straightened and jogged over to it, grabbing some leaves and twigs and then turning around to come back. "Hope this works." He knelt by her side again, tucking everything under the bigger logs before flicking the lighter so it'd catch fire. A few moments passed before the spark took and he grinned, settling back on his heels. "Perfect. Got one of those to spare?" He eyed her cigarette, realizing it was the funeral all over again. "I do have my own, you know. I just... am a little lacking in pockets, you know." He glanced down at himself before looking back at her, another smirk gracing his features. If she handed him the smoke he'd light it before handing her the lighter back, fanning some of the flames so they'd grow. He could already feel the heat even if it was just a small amount.

"That's what I'm talking about." He grinned, looking around only to realize they were pretty much alone by the fire. Ava and Parker were in their own world, Cameron and Jace were by the hot tub, and Wes and Whit... god, were they still in the closet? Letting his eyes land back on Evie, he ignored the shiver that rocked his body, thinking it not from the cold this time. "How have you been, Evie? Other than the bullshit front you want others to see." He could tell there was more to the story, but he hadn't wanted to press. Everyone had more than they were letting on, but Evie was the one he was most concerned with. "Hows... hows life?"

Whitney Jeffries

After all, it is neither Tuesday or Thursday.

Wes's comment was a simple one, a mere reference to their high school study sessions, but it was enough to cause butterflies to futter in Whitney's stomach. It might have been silly, but the fact that Wes remembered which days she tutored him meant something to her. It had been 5 years, and while Whit's memory was a steel trap, she hardly expected Wes, the Prince of the school with a million other things going on in his life, to remember small things like that. Or rather, to remember small things that involved her.

The nerdy brunette was many things, but bold and assertive were typically not amongst those. In high school, she'd been confident in herself and her skills, but shy when it came to interacting with others. Whitney had been content to stand in the shadow of her older sister who never seemed to have any problem talking to people or getting what she wanted... Even if standing in Ava's shadow meant that Whitney herself missed out on things she wanted. Or, in the case of the handsome man standing inches from her now, missed out on person she wanted. But now...

Now Whitney was finally tired of missing out on things and falling second behind Ava. Since graduation, she'd done her best to find her own path in life, apart from her beloved older sister. Whit no longer depended on Ava for friends or clothes or rides to and from places, and while this return to the cabin was a trip down memory lane for some, the youngest Jeffries sister saw it as a second chance. And perhaps that's what gave Whitney the confidence to close the gap between her and Wes. Well, that, the alcohol coursing through her veins, and Wes's simple comment about Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The look of surprise that flitted across Wes's face when she stepped towards him made Whitney second guess herself for a moment. Her question about his height though elicited a teasing response from Wes, which quelled her concerns that she might be misreading the situation. Even in the dark, the way Wes looked down at her made Whitney even bolder, and his name escaped from her lips as she pulled him closer and...

The brunette inhaled in surprise as Wes's body forced her backwards, exhaling a soft "Ohh" when she was stopped by the wall. Pinned, Whit glanced at one of Wes's hands braced against the wall for a moment, before her gaze fell back to him. He no longer towered over her as he leaned down, removing the obstacle that had prevented Whitney from exploring what kissing a Prince might feel like. He paused for a moment, and even while intoxicated, Whitney knew that this was her opportunity to back out of the situation, if she wanted to.

The brunette’s hand moved to rest against Wes's chest for a moment, and she could have used it to push him away, but instead, her fingers curled around the fabric of his button up shirt, holding onto him as if she was afraid he would dissolve into a figment of her imagination if she didn’t. Wes’s smile made Whit’s heart race, and when he pressed his lips against hers, it was reality, not Wes, that seemed to slip away as her eyes fluttered shut.

For a moment, nothing existed except the sensation of Wes's lips against hers... but as Whitney regained her senses, she reciprocated the kiss, deepening it as she leaned into him some. She felt like she was on fire, in the best way possible, and she brought her free hand up to rest on his shoulder. Seven Minutes in Heaven had always seemed like a silly name to Whitney, but she was starting to understand the moniker now. She didn’t believe in the afterlife, but Heaven sure felt like an adrenaline rush, smelled like men’s cologne or body wash, tasted like scotch stained lips and looked like Wesley Frost. At least to Whitney it did.

The brunette had lost all concept of time, but eventually she reluctantly tore her lips from Wes's so she could catch her breath. Keeping her head close to his, with her eyes still shut, Whitney couldn't help the smile that spread across her face. "Wow...." The nerd breathed quietly, not caring if it was a dorky response. Truly, she had no other words at this moment, and the kiss was exactly that... just wow!

Finally opening her eyes, Whit tilted her head up some to chance a glance at Wes. She didn't know if they'd been in there three minutes or twenty, but no one had come to fetch them yet, and she wasn't going to be the first one to suggest they rejoin the rest of the world.

Parker Pierce

Was Parker a little disappointed that the girls wouldn't be joining them out in the snow? Yeah. Was he surprised that they wouldn't be stripping down? No. He'd known there was less than a 0.01% chance that the girls would agree to participating in Evie's dare, but hey, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. Still, it was a bummer that Ava seemed possibly upset by his suggestion as she walked away from the door and out of view.

Jace's question about this being their second chance came out of the blue, and Parker looked over at the tattooed man curiously. Had he not witnessed it himself, Parker never would have believed such a question would come out of bad boy Jace. One of the girls, maybe, but Jace? Fatherhood really was making him softer. Before the clown had any time to really consider his friend's query though, Evie shut the front door of the cabin.

All three guys were pretty much thinking the same thing, worried that Evie had just locked them out in the snowy, icy cold. "She wouldn't... right?" Parker uttered, a shiver running through him as a breeze blew by. When Jace decided that he would break the door down if need be, Parker was close on his heels as the trio made their way back to the cabin. Caleb kicked the door closed again once they were in the warmth and safety of the cabin, and Parker let out a string of curses.

"S-son of a bitch that was f-fucking freezing as hell." He muttered, looking around for the girls. His teeth were chattering, his fingers were numb and he prayed his twig and berries would thaw out soon. That would be the last time he agreed to run out into the snow naked.

The heat from the fire was nice, and Parker was tempted to leave finding the others to Caleb and Jace while he warmed up. However, he didn't want to seem wimpy, and begrudgingly followed after the other two nude men as they headed out back.

The women were all gathered around the fire pit, apparently attempting to make a fire- albeit unsuccessfully. Parker was about to point out that they was a perfectly good fireplace INSIDE where it wasn't FREEZING, when Ava came to his rescue. Luckily, she didn't seem too upset after all at his invitation to streak with them, since she was quick to wrap a blanket around his freezing form.

"Y-y-you're a d-doll A-Av-va..." Parker chattered, hanging on tightly to the blanket. California had really made him a lightweight when it came to the cold. Caleb and Jace were still running around naked out back and seemed fine, though the presence of Cameron and Evie might have been enough to warm them up a bit. Turning his attention back to Ava as she rubbed his shoulders, Parker smiled, conceding that he too felt warmer now that he was with Ava. Her warm hand felt like fire against his icy skin, but he gladly accepted the burn. Hell, he should just wrap Ava around him instead of this blanket.

Parker's mind dangerously imagined such a thing, and he had to bite the inside of his cheek to keep his thoughts from wandering any further. After all, he was still naked and any... excitement... that might occur from picturing Ava using her body heat to unthaw him would be quite evident. Just think of wrinkly old people... rotten bananas... kittens and puppies playing together... Parker told himself, focussing his thoughts on less tempting topics.

Ava offered to make Parker something hot to drink, and he eagerly nodded. "Y-yeah, sounds great-t-t." He shivered, starting to head back towards the door. "W-we'll be back guys..." He called to the group, though everyone already seemed to be off in their own worlds.

Caleb and Evie were focussed on the fire, Cameron looked to be preparing the hot tub for Jace... actually, the hot tub sounded like a brilliant idea and he was bummed he hadn't thought of that. Though, as the beautiful brunette walked back into the cabin to start preparing him hot chocolate, Parker happily gave up thoughts of warm water to follow after her. He'd follow Ava to the ends of the Earth if that's where she wanted to go. And while he knew he was only setting himself up for even more heartbreak when these two weeks were over, Parker couldn't help but be a love sick puppy around her.

As Ava started working in the kitchen, Parker perched himself on one of the bar stools, still bundled up in the blanket she'd wrapped him in.

"Hey Ava..." He began, thinking about Jace's question from earlier again. "Do you think this trip is our second chance?" The clown asked. "I-I mean, not our second chance. I mean, like not just yours and mine, but like the group's...?" He clarified, a little flustered and still drunk. "Like is there anything you wished you'd get to do different?"

A dusty cloud of light grey smoke rose from parted pink lips into the air before dissipating beneath the moonlight. Evelyn savored the bitter flavor of the smoke, tilting her chin towards the sky to look at the stars. Her breath nearly caught in her throat at the sight. Even though the town they lived in wasn't very large, it produced enough light to all but block out the twinkling lights in the sky. But there, in the middle of nowhere, with the only real light slipping through the windows of the cabin and shining down from the moon, the stars were clearly visible. Millions of little dots speckling the indigo atmosphere nearly took her breath away.

Evie smiled absentmindedly, pulling another inhale from her cigarette. Aside from the idle chatter of her friends and the chittering of the insects in the forest, it was fairly silent. It was peaceful. For the first time in a long time, she felt like she could actually breathe. A cool breeze swept through the area, flowing through her hair and seeming to pierce directly through her shoulder. The brunette crossed her free arm across her chest and shivered, sure that the tip of her nose had begun to turn pink in the cold. Thankfully, though, she had remembered to bring the thick sherpa blanket from inside and quickly engulfed herself in it.

Comfy once again, Evelyn took another drag from her cigarette and glanced at Ava and Cam who had joined her. "I don't think-" she began, about to discourage the use of tequila as a firestarter. But Jace, Caleb, and Parker approached then, effectively cutting her off. "Hey now," Evie answered, "We were going to come to get you... eventually. Besides, you obviously don't care too much about the cold if you're still traipsing around, naked in it." Her teasing tone tainted the words, only accented by the sarcastic smirk playing at the edges of her lips. She inhaled once more from her cigarette, reaching for the booze to warm her chilled body. By the time she stood again, though, the others had left for warmer places, leaving her alone with Caleb.

The previous drunkenness had begun to wear off a bit, and Evelyn felt a bit tense as they stood there in silence for a moment. Glancing from Caleb's naked form to the unlit fire once again, she nodded, "Um, yeah. Know anything about fire-building?" She still found it rather strange how Caleb kept acting as if nothing had happened, as everything was the same as the day before he disappeared as if they were still best friends and hadn't lost contact for five years. Nevertheless, Evie watched as he fixed the kindling and set it ablaze. Realizing he was looking at her cigarette, the baker nodded and pulled the pack and lighter from her pocket, handing them over to him. "Help yourself."

Still wrapped in the blanket, Evelyn took a step closer to the fire, letting out a sigh of relief as she felt her body begin to warm. Another large drink from her gin bottle certainly helped. Her forest green eyes were focused on the flames, but she didn't miss the large shiver that wracked the man alongside her. Realizing he was still completely naked standing in the snow, she immediately slipped the blanket from around her shoulders and wrapped it around his. "Are you crazy? You could get hypothermia! Or worse, frostbite!" she chastised, pulling it tightly until he was enclosed in the warmth. Evie had gotten quite close to him in that time, and she quickly took a step back, feeling her cheeks flush a bit.

"Sorry," the baker murmured quietly, turning to face the first once again. She took another large drink from her bottle of gin, savoring the distraction of warmth it provided as it slid down her throat. If Evelyn were being entirely honest with herself, she knew that she still cared about Caleb, still thought about him throughout those five years, wondering what he was doing and if he was okay. But she was also still angry and, in her mind, justifiably so. Taking one last drag from her cigarette, she tossed the butt into the flames and took that moment to calm her racing heart. "I've been alright. Life... just is, I suppose," Evie replied after a moment, turning her sharp gaze back to him. "What about you? How's life been, wherever the hell you disappeared to?"

Dating Ava was always more transactional than anything else. They were expected to hold hands, kiss, attend events together. He was the hockey captain and she was the It Girl of the school. They were supposed to be together, right? His parents had certainly thought so. Wesley clearly remembered when his father mentioned the Jeffries, practically required that Wes form a relationship with Ava. It was like some sort of old-school, arranged marriage type of situation. Like in the regency era where those of noble or high classes courted one another until they inevitably married to merge their families and their dowries. At the time, Wesley had accepted it because that was what he was supposed to do. But it wasn't necessarily what he wanted to do.

Now, as he stood in that closet, slightly drunk but still aware, he couldn't help but think that maybe he had courted the wrong sister originally. The businessman had always felt a rather close connection to Whitney, from their weekly study sessions to idle conversation at all the events and things they were required by their parents to attend, albeit not together. She made those things tolerable, even when he and Ava were paraded around like some sort of prince and princess that, despite the high school moniker, they really weren't. So, as Wesley kissed Whit, he felt that this was the way things were supposed to be. Maybe not stuck in a closet together, but at least together.

For a moment, Wes wasn't sure if she would kiss him back, fearing he had made a mistake and drunkenly read into a situation that he shouldn't have. But Whit kissed him back, her lips tasting like candy. Sparks of electricity flitted across his skin stemming from where her hands gripped his shirt and shoulder. He took a step closer, soon his whole body pinning her against the wall rather than just his arms. He removed one palm from the closet wall, resting it gently on the side of her neck. Her skin was smooth, soft, and he wanted more. But Wesley restrained himself, not wanting to scare her away. For the first time in a long time, the businessman wanted something to last.

What seemed like a few seconds but could honestly be several hours later, Whitney pulled away from the kiss. Immediately, his lips felt cold and alone, but the adrenaline and alcohol were still rushing through his veins, warming him internally. Wes could feel his face flush a bit as he breathed a bit heavily. He heard her comment, and he leaned back a little bit, letting out a breathy chuckle. "Yeah, wow indeed," he answered, blue eyes still staring into her hazel brown. After a moment longer, Wesley leaned back, giving them both enough room to catch their breath.

He wasn't sure how long they had been in that closet, but no one had come to find them yet. Glancing at his Rolex watch, the brunette realized it had been well over their designated seven minutes. "The others must either be incredibly drunk, distracted, or asleep because we've been in here for almost thirty minutes," Wes said softly, looking back up at Whitney. Raising a hand to push a stray piece of hair behind her ear, he grinned and asked, "Maybe we should check on them? Though, I'd much rather stay in here with you for a while longer."

Parker ( Desert_Blossom Desert_Blossom )

Ava Jeffries, well, Novak now, was a very determined person. Everyone who knew her was very much aware of that. Once she got something on her mind, she was following the thought until the end. That was exactly what made her a good lawyer, too. Ava with a lead was like a dog with a bone. Not ever letting go. What was making her sad was the fact that she was not that way about things that actually mattered to her, things that could change her life completely. But those things were now far from her drunken mind, her focus was elsewhere. On a certain frozen young man in an immediate need or warming up, something Ava could provide.

As she wrapped the blanket around naked Parker, there was a soft smile on her lips but when her fingers touched his icy skin, her stomach somersaulted in the most delicious way. Why was she experiencing all this feels? She should have been already over him. Yet, this trip was proving her wrong more and more. Quite the contrary, the more she was in Parker’s company, the more intense her feels were. Ava honestly felt like she was a teenager again. But not her usual, confident IT girl self, rather the shy, awkward girl who could never squeeze those words out of her mouth. Curiouser and curiouser, indeed.

With her fingers on Parker’s arms, Ava’s thoughts went in so many directions, the time suddenly felt non-existent and some sort of warmth was spreading across her body, traveling from her brain to her torso, arms, fingertips, to her legs, until it hit every single nerve ending, leaving it slightly electrified. It really took her a moment to take her hands off of him and suggest a hot drink. How she was going to make it in this state, the young lawyer had no idea but the offer was out there and she was not backing out. Parker’s comment on them being back made her giggle. No, they were so not going to be back. Not that anyone minded, Jace was already at the hot tub with Cam and Caleb was crouching down at the fire with Evie. Everyone was minding their own business and no one cared the last couple left inside. The idea of them being the last couple made Ava frown, think for a while, which was definitely not easy, and then she started to laugh.

“Oh my god, Whit and Wes are still in that closet, aren’t they?” she tried to say in her fit. “Look at that, tables have turned…or what…that’s the saying, right?” she turned to Parker as her brain was not doing its best now. There were times when she was the girl in the closet with Wes and Parker and Whitney were outside with a bunch of other people. Not that Ava was sad or, god forbid, jealous. She and Wes, that was definitely in the past and she was sure that he was equally relieved as her when they finally got to end their charade.

Once in the kitchen, Parker went to sit on the bar stool, gripping that warm blanket and he was more adorable than ever. And Ava, well…she was already confused because of the amount of tequila. But try being drunk and prepare something in the kitchen you don’t know. Ava was not much of a cook anyway but she could handle hot chocolate. But…where was the stuff to make that delicious beverage? Perusing for a moment, she finally managed to find the stuff. Well, not the good stuff because at home, she would melt the dark chocolate and mix it with the heavy cream and the end result would be a beautiful, velvety thick chocolate that would warm Parker inside out. Alas, what Ava was able to find was the powdery thing that she was supposed to mix with boiling water.

Grabbing the kettle, she filled it and set it back to its stand, thanking god, it was the electrical type. While waiting for the water to boil, she took a mug and put the chocolate powder in it, stirring it around with a small spoon when Parker’s question came. Holding the spoon up in that very moment, Ava dropped the utensil and looked up, relaxing right away. It was a tough question really. So many things ran across her mind at that moment.

She stopped at one memory in particular. That day at funfair. Seventeen-year-old Ava was standing there, clutching a stuffed dog Parker had just won for her. And she was ready. She had the words, she had the moment, the mood, she was about to tell him and risk everything. She would admit her feelings to him right there and then. And the second she opened her mouth… Wes appeared. Ava never spoke up, never tried again. Stupid girl she was back then.

“There are…so…many things…” she breathed and brought her dark gate up to look at Parker, her regrets hitting her now more than ever. “So many things I would have done differently. I would like think that this is our…ehm…our second chance.” The expression didn’t hit her as much before as in the moment she uttered it. Could this really be their second chance? Her and Parker’s? Was it possible? She was married, it wasn’t that easy. But not impossible either. So…would she…she might…if he would…if he wanted… Shush, Ava, let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. “I’d like to think so. You know…that this is our second chance.” she spoke quietly and went to grab the kettle. Her skin was tingling and she was having even harder time, focusing on what her hands were doing.

“This is just sad…” she mumbled all of a sudden and stirred the poor hot chocolate. How could she make it better? If she could only figure out the way to… Searching through the cupboards again, her eyes fell on an unfinished bottle of rum. A wicked grin appeared on her face as she grabbed it and poured a bit in the mug. Well, it would be a bit if she was sober. “The drunken bit” was in fact quite a generous portion, possibly almost a double shot. Proud of herself, Ava presented the steaming mug to Parker, smiling ear to ear. “I promised to warm you up, didn’t I?” she grinned and walked around the counter to give the mug to the man from up close. Once again, the two gained an immediate proximity and Ava was only sorry she left her tequila god knows where. Some things still took a lot of courage. Courage tequila could have easily given her.
