Voodoo had already made her way into a corner, hiding from the events that were unfolding before her. She hope they are able to save him, she really liked Fluke. Pulling her head up from her knees she looked at the her group. There was Echo, the touchy girl. She could handle a punch to the face or a kick to the side, but the thought of Echo touching her to replicate her powers made her skin crawl. Luckily there was nothing that Voodoo had that could be of use to anyone, maybe help from a headache. There was also Jariri , whose main concern was the groups sinking into the dark waters then finding there teammate. He seemed...nice. I mean she did not really know anyone well. She sits away from everyone in class, wears a medical mask to hide her face from possible touches, also makes no attempts in keeping up her appearance. Even now she looks like she just jumped out of bed. She wore old stained sweats and a bagging sweat shirt. She kept the hood pulled up but it could not hide the fact that she made no effort in styling or even brushing her hair. She also dawned old grungy gloves, she was a walking text book on the signs and symptoms of depression. She was not the only one that covered up. Students like Brogen, who were apparently were too fragile for reality, so fearful of death. She hated that spoiled little wench. Willow refused to see there similarities, only there differences. There was also Maverick, just thinking about him made her insides fluter. She does not know what it is about him that makes here swoon the way she does. His cut jaw line, defiance for authority , the fact that he could end it all just by holding hands. Her daydreaming was put on hold when she notice the sea monster making its way for another attack. She tried to alert the others but choked on her own words leaving the group to only a faint whisper. It was not enough and she watched as Fluke was strung in the air. She sighed getting up from the ships floor walking to the others.

"C-can we just focus on making a fire. I don't really want to be here anymore." Her voice was shaking as if she was about to start crying. "The ship has not sunk yet, we could still go below and out of the rain, If we kill the monster we can just focus on surviving the ocean...we can't really die in here, I would done that if it were possible. "

The man didn't bother responding to the challenge this time, completely ignoring him as Aegis stood up. Eli was about to say something else, but all that came out was a sigh. He knew that no matter what he said, their captor would only ignore or dismiss him again. He was confident in his ability to block the bullet if given the chance, but the man seemed more content to rile him up than anything else. He took a breath, trying to calm himself down.

He would have to prove his worth in another way. He hoped Aegis had a plan, but glanced at the guy next to him, who looked a bit like their captor. What was his name? Para-something? If his power involved projectiles, then Eli could use his mirrors to launch them at their captor. Who would be inadequate then?

"Hey," he started to whisper to Paramax, but the gunshot interrupted him. Eli looked up as Aegis fell, then up at the man as he revealed that he knew all of their powers and wanted compensation for whatever Aegis had been about to do. Eli hadn't volunteered to be buried alive because he knew his own limitations, and being tossed in a small, pitch-black space unable to move was about the definition of his weakness. He started to plan anyway, just as the man's hand moved slightly, aiming the gun at him. A mirror started to form in front of him on instinct, the size of a book, and then the pain hit.

He choked, slowly looking down at the blood spreading across his torso. He stared at it in shock. The half-formed mirror disappeared. He tried to move his hands, remembering at the last second that they were still bound. He missed? No, he let himself be distracted by the thought of being buried alive. Though, the reason didn't seem to matter as blood pooled down his front. His hands shook. He'd never been shot before. It hurt, so much more than he could've anticipated. He felt dizzy and lightheaded.

"I'm not done with you," he grunted, even as he started to lose consciousness. Hey, that was a lot of blood wasn't it? Was he going to die? He was griped with momentary panic for a second before he passed out.

━━━━━ ━━━━━

Pain shot through Selina's left arm as she landed on the ground with a hard thud. A yelp escaped her lips. Where were they? Her eyes roamed around the surroundings. They were currently on the ground, along with the corpses. Selina wasn't scared of them, they were dead after all. She had her fair share of seeing what death looks like, and honestly, it was boring. On the top of the staircase, she could still make out the dark mass looking down on them. Selina tried to get up but the pain in her arm and the chains around her wrists restricted her to do so. Fuck. She badly wanted to take it down once and for all.

The sound of groans interrupted her murderous thoughts. She looked to her side and saw where it came from. The corpses began rising, one by one with a sickening crunch of their bones as if it was years since they moved their bodies. The group kappa stood up, back against one another as the horrible sight laid down before them. Selina was paralyzed to the spot. She wasn't sure if her mind was playing tricks on her again, but the screams from her groupmates confirmed that this wasn't her imagination. This was real. The corpses plodded towards them. Death was Selina's old friend. It always visited her in her sleep, during her SAI tests, and sometimes in her reflection. But this...this wasn't just death. Bile rose to her throat as the stench of rotten flesh filled the air. This was decay.

A corpse limped towards Selina and pointed his finger to her. "You didn't save us." Blood leaked from his mouth as he talked.

Selina studied the man. He was wearing a burnt lab coat that intertwined with his charred body. The coat looked familiar, she had seen it before. He stared at her and she noticed his eyes were as blue as hers. A sudden realization hit her. Under the thick crust of blackened skin was someone Selina knew very well.

"D-Dad?" she choked, the color drained from her face.

"I always knew you were useless," he continued to speak.

The girl took a step back, horrified. "But you're dead."

"And you let it happen."

Selina clutched her head, her breaths started to quicken. "This is not real...this is not real," she whispered to herself.

"Oh, but it is dear." He smiled. "Remember when you left us out there to die?"

"I didn-"

"Of course you didn't. You always believed that it wasn't your fault. But when that monster burned us until we were nothing but ashes, you didn't even bat an eye. You are selfish, and I will forever regret to have you as my daughter."

"I'm sorry, I-I should've done something to stop him," she said, her voice cracking. "Please forgive me." Tears started forming in the corners of her eyes.

"Sorry can't undo things, Selina." He cocked his head to the side and looked at the whole group. "I see you're one of them now," he chuckled. "Disgusting."

"No dad, please don't say that.."

"You are a disgrace!" he bellowed.

Selina dropped on her knees and covered her ears. "Make him stop, please make him stop," she sobbed.

Images from her past flashed in her mind. She saw her sister, with her dark hair tied into a ponytail. She smiled at Selina and the whole room became brighter and more lively. Cynthia was always the cheerful one. Next to her was their mother, smiling as she laid out their dinner. She always cooked Selina's favorite food on Sundays. Suddenly their laughs and smiles turned into screams. Everything happened in a blur, heat prickled on her skin and before she knew it her whole family were in flames.

Selina couldn't breathe anymore, her chest hurt. This was why she never let her emotions get the best of her. Because if she let the tears fall just a little bit, then everything would burst out like a fucking dam next.

As the other corpses came into view, panic arose in the group.

NAOMI

Location: Simulation | Interacting with: Kappa | Mentions:

Naomi opened her eyes a crack, letting the light —blurry bright — seep through. Was she dead yet? Why did it hurt so much? Her entire left side throbbed. Naomi groaned, flopped over onto her hands and feet, dragging herself to a stand, gasping through clenched teeth.

“I’m still here.” she croaked, hoping that whoever was watching her this time would hear. She stood there for a moment, legs tottering, breath wheezing through her raw throat. She tried to laugh, but that just inflamed the pain in her torso. She might be alive, but staying that way was another thing. Naomi pulled up her shirt to take a
look the damage. Her entire left side was covered in bruises from the fall. Red stains all up her ribs, soon to darken into blue and purple. They were tender to the touch, but blessedly, nothing seemed to be broken.

She looked to the rest of Group Kappa. Most were still chained together, disoriented, but now that they had a free moment, perhaps they could figure out a way to remove the bindings. She tried not to focus too much on the corpses. The rotting stench was like shit mixed with meat gone bad; flies buzzed about their unmoving figures. It took a good deal of strength not to gag.

The corpses began to move.

Naomi spun around, startled. All at once, the corpses, decayed and savage, shamblimg to their feet, groaning in pain. Grey-brown flesh fell off their bones as they limped toward her, some with guts spilling out of their bodies, worms crawling in and out of the holes where their eyes should be.

“You failed to protect us”echoed the foreign voice in her mind.

A zombie tottered close to her. “You’re not even real,” Naomi replied indignantly. “So skip the melodrama and let me out!” She punched the thing right in the face. A solid hit, exactly as Hiroki had taught her. ”Thumb outside the fist, connect with the first two knuckles.” she remembered him saying. Yet as her fist slid across his cheekbone, it was she herself who staggered, as if she’d been struck herself.

Hiroki.

The memories blossomed in her mind as she stumbled, feeling like she’d been hit with a hammer. Her mind burned with the sudden shock of a word spoken as a mantra. Hiroki, Hiroki, Hiroki…

Naomi opened her eyes, only now realizing she’d squeezed them shut. Hiroki’s corpse lay at her feet. The zombie she’d punched.

He betrayed you, echoed her mind. Anyone will betray you, Naomi. Anyone. Those were Hiroki’s words. Her brother had taught her so many things, then had reinforced them by doing what he’d always promised he would—by betraying her himself. It’s the only way you’ll learn.

Naomi forced herself not to look down at the corpse. That bitch… she thought. Words for the headmaster. Throwing her off a building was one thing, but digging into a person’s memories was… it was a crime more heinous than any violation of the body!

She calmed herself with difficulty, then plastered the illusion of a calm face. A false version of herself, but it would do. Hiroki had told her to smile through the worst ordeals and snap at the minor ones. That way, no one could know your heart.

“We need to move! Now!” she urged.

tumblr_pizavcsqB61rnkqsoo1_540.gifIan's eyes flickered away from the screen, lingering for a moment on the face of his peer. Familiar, but not overmuch. Ian felt his brow arch severely and quite unintentionally at the mention of the supposed ease with which his fellow observer could pass the simulations. "Well, aren't you a confident one?" He said with a smile that could have been a sneer. Turning back to face the screen, Ian's eyes caught the flash of a muzzle, heard the distinct, albeit muffled sound of a gun going off once, twice. Again. And again.

His lips parted imperceptibly at the sight of it, eyes dilating to take it all in. So much. So... red. A familiar itch awoke in his brain, and found itself most unwelcome within. He felt himself saying, "That's more than a stubbed toe..." Suddenly his nose filled with the smell of iron, gritty and intoxicating. Ian had to forcibly tear his gaze away from the screen, to which he had drifted uncomfortably close. He needed to get some air, to reign in the fervor of his wildly racing heart. Unfortunately, that didn't seem possible. Ian quickly realized that he was as much a prisoner of these simulations as those currently suffering through them.

"It's a shame..." He started to say, as he realized how his silence must appear, but stopped to catch his breath. The exhilaration was beginning to wear off, slowly... He found himself averting his gaze from any and all screens, a feat which was nearly impossible, considering the long walls of his prison were lined with them. "... that we're cooped up in here while they get to have all the fun." He finally choked out, then leveled an even gaze at his companion. It was evident from the forced composure he wore that he wasn't going to be explaining his peculiar behavior, that it was best not to ask. Lance? Chance? It was on the tip of his tongue... "Don't you think?"

{ PLOT POST .
.

Without preamble, all the simulations stop at once, as if they're paused movies, before they shatter. You don't have time to do much more than shout in alarm and throw your arms over your head before you feel your back hit the ground with a thump. When you open your eyes again, the terrifying situations you were in have melted away, and you're back in the simulation rooms.

More than a little confused, you make your way uncertainly out of the simulators and into the viewing chamber, where a number of your classmates have been since the beginning. Surely the instructors haven't let you off that easy—

Almost as if in answer, the Institute's alarms go off, signaling intruders. Donaghue strides into the room, her face drawn tight; she's followed by a dark-haired boy in cuffs. A new arrival, you assume, even if it does seem oddly late for the Institute to still be recruiting from detention centers. Your guess is confirmed when he joins your ranks. Moments later, the rest of the instructors enter as well, their shoulders rigid as they fan out around the students in a ring.

"Castillo, Yar'Adua," Donaghue barks, "get the students to the safe room. The rest of you—come with me."

After her exit, and that of their colleagues, Castillo and Yar'Adua waste no time in herding you out of the room. Someone, their voice high with fear and confusion, asks, "What's happening?"

"Hopefully nothing," Castillo says tightly. "But we fear that our security has been compromised. And you are our first priority—while Headmistress Donaghue and the others try to neutralize the threat, we need to get you to a secure location."

Yar'Adua nods. "But it's crucial," she adds, "that you listen to us. Don't panic, and more importantly: do not use your powers, do not engage any hostiles in combat, do nothing we don't tell you to do." She flicks a gaze out the door, gesturing for you to follow her. Castillo falls back behind you.

For a single, brief moment, you wish fiercely that this whole thing were just an extension of the simulation, but you know it's not. This is a very real danger you're in, and so soon after the various traumatic events you were already put through, you're not sure you're at your best.

Uncertain, jarred, and more than a little afraid, you follow Yar'Adua through the Institute's winding hallways, trying not to fixate on the sinister red glow the blaring alarms cast on the walls.

NOTE: segue for characters not previously involved in the simulations to interact with others and get a piece of the action, so to speak
