That One Fear In My Enemy's Eyes
Date: June 6, 2558
Time: 1145 Hours
"Major! Major!!" Came a panicked cry from behind him.
"What is it?" Asked Major Orion Winters of the USMC.
"The South Gate has been breached sir!"
"Breached by what?" He demanded.
"A massive Felwolf pack sir! We counted at least thirteen of them!"
"Sound the Emergency Alarms at once, and mobilize all available Marines to the area!" He ordered.
"Yessir!" He responded.
Major Winters then sprinted towards the South Gate where he saw the pack of Felwolves being held back by what few Marines were already in place and firing on them from protects positions. The Felwolves bodies were highly resistant to bullet damage due to the density of their muscle fibers, but not immune. Fill one with enough led and it would fall.
The bigger issue was the hole they just punched in the Gate which could take an hour or two to plug temporarily, and another few days to fix back to its original state leaving the colony vulnerable to whatever else was out there that wanted inside. The rest of the colony was protected by some kind of specialized energy shield in a dome which extended from the top of the Gate walls over the colony. Nothing could fly in without getting fried. But the Gates, as strong as they were, were a weak point if breached like this.
Another solider sprinted over to him.
"Major! Your orders sir!"
"Keep them pinned down and try to drive them back out of the breach point!" He ordered.
"Yessir!" He said with a salute.
Major Winters took in the scene.
Thirteen Felwolves, each one around 14' long from nose to tail and around 5' tall at the shoulder. Their mouths were big enough for him to fit his entire arm inside without even reaching the back of the throat, making their bite incredibly deadly if they got ahold of anyone. One soldier had already fallen victim to their advance and was bitten in half, missing a large chunk of the central area of his mid/lower torso just above the hip and below the middle of his chest.
However the soldiers seemed to be accomplishing their goal and were slowly pushing the Felwolves back toward the breach. If they could kill one or two of them and drive the others out, then they could begin racing to fix the breach.
He took up a defensive position atop a storage box and began to strategically fire small bursts in front of the Felwolves who were out front to push them back. Once they were done with this, they'd have to get to work on that breach ASAP!
