Date: December 3, 2016

Time: 0930 (Time is universal, no time zones)

The weather was bright and cool with a chilly winter's breeze caressing the landscape. The sun shone overhead but did little to warm the body, and thus people everywhere had to wear warmer clothing to ensure they didn't grow chilled or catch a cold.

At the edge of Goldenrod City in the Johto Region, a young couple waited outside the local Pokémon League Office building.

"So Tomoya, what do you think they'll make us do exactly?" Asked the young redheaded woman.

"Most likely they'll ask for our basic information and ensure we sign some kind of contract to ensure we abide by the rules of the League." He replied.

"Is that really enough? I mean it sounds kind of lax, doesn't it?" She inquired.

"Not particularly. If the contract has strict stipulations about our ability to become Pokémon Trainers then they must have a way of enforcing those stipulations and rules. Otherwise the wouldn't even bother." He said.

She nodded.

"By the way Yume, did you pack everything I told you to pack?" He asked.

"Yessir!" She said, patting her bag.

"Good."

A moment later, a finely dressed individual approached them at the door.

"Good morning you two. I presume you have an appointment?" He asked.

Tomoya showed him the printout of their appointment, and they were then allowed entry. They followed the suited man to an office where they were introduced to a Pokémon League official named Rise Halmer. He shook their hands and asked them to have a seat.

"All right then Mr. Akabane. Ms. Ishiwata. Let's get started." He said, gathering a few items on his desk.

"Let's begin with the basics. Please fill out these forms, and while you do so, I'd like to ask a few questions." He said, passing them the forms.

Tomoya noticed that the forms were titled "Pokémon Trainer License Agreement," and that they were quite thorough with the information they asked for.

* Full legal name

* Date of birth

* Current address and phone number

* Health history

* History of legal proceedings

* Have you ever served in the military branch of the Pokémon League?

* Have you ever served time or punishment as a convicted felon?

* Parents legal names

* Parents address and phone number

* Email address

* Parents email addresses

* Insurance provider

* Most recent employer's name, phone number, email address and business address

* Emergency Contact name, number, email address

* And more...

While they started filling out the forms, Rise asked questions.

"Why do you want to become a Pokémon Trainer?"

"Have you ever, in your adult life, spent significant time with Pokémon?"

"Are there any health or legal issues you've encountered in your life which would present an issue with your future as a Pokémon Trainer?"

Questions of all sorts were asked about their lives and history, and they saw that the entire thing was recorded by a camera in the upper corner of the room near the door. The league really wasn't taking any chances which was good to know.

When Tomoya and Yume finished their paperwork and finished answering questions about themselves and their history, they were asked to follow Rise to another room. This one too had a camera which saw them receive their Pokédexs from him. Each Pokédex was shown to them first, as well as all of its major features and apps and all of them explained in detail which took about 40 minutes.

Afterwards, they were asked to enter their information into the Pokédex, which took another 30 minutes or so since they basically had to fill those forms out again electronically. Afterwards the Pokédex took their pictures for their Trainer's License which was built into the Pokédex. With that all settled, they shook hands with Rise and were allowed to leave the building... Finally.

Once outside, they sighed and smiled at one another.

"Well it could have been worse."

"True. I'm just glad that all that paperwork is done."

"All right then. Time to go pick up our Pokémon from the Pokémon Center. Shall we?"

"Let's!!"

With that the two of them departed for the Pokémon Center. Both of them had Pokémon waiting for them there delivered either by family or friends of the family so they didn't have to visit a Pokémon Professor. They didn't have anything against Pokémon Professors, but when family gifted you with Pokémon you didn't say "no."

And so they were off to meet their first Pokémon and take the first major step along their journey together.

It was so exciting!

A few hours later, after Tomoya and Yume had eaten lunch together, they walked out to the fields beyond the city limit and inspected their Pokédex's.

"So how do we get it to work again?"

"Let's turn them on and find out."

They turned on their Pokédex's and were greeted by an automated voice message.

Greetings Trainer. If you are hearing this message, your personal Pokédex has been activated and now required authentication and confirmation of a few basic policies and rules regarding your behavior as a Pokémon Trainer. If you are ready, please interact with the screen's prompts to continue.

They hit the "Continue" button, and the voice kept going.

Thank you for beginning the final phase of your registration for becoming a Pokémon Trainer. This will take but a few minutes of your time... First, please authenticate your possession of this Pokédex device by inputting your security theft prevention password which you created during the paperwork section of your registration.

Tomoya and Yume inputted their passwords, and the voice continued.

Thank you. Next, please affirm your acceptance of the rules and guidelines provided herein by the Pokémon League.

They clicked "Accept."

Thank you. Next, please affirm your acceptance and thereby your confirmation of adherence to Article 34 Section 2A (1) of the Pokémon League rules regarding the humane and fair treatment of Pokémon both in and outside of battle with other Pokémon Trainers.

They clicked "Accept."

Thank you. Finally, please confirm your acceptance and adherence to Article 37 Section 4B (3) of the Pokémon League rules regarding the policy of personal responsibility for this Pokédex device as your personal form of identification and your understanding that if it is lost or stolen, it cannot be replaced and you will then be responsible for whatever actions are taken by whomever finds it.

They clicked "Accept."

Thank you... One moment please... ... ... Your Pokémon Trainer's registration is complete. Please enjoy the wonderful world of Pokémon and ensure that the integrity of the Pokémon League and the honor of Pokémon Trainers everywhere is upheld.

All of the paperwork and registration was done. Finally they were free to pick up their starter Pokémon from the Pokémon Center, which they did. Making their way there, they entered the Center and approached the desk where they were greeted by the receptionist. After showing their now fully registered Pokédex's, the receptionist nodded and fetched the Pokémon which had been delivered to the Pokémon Center a few days ago to await pickup.

With their Pokémon now in hand, they exited the Pokémon Center and jogged out to the fields outside of town where they released their Pokémon for the first time. Tomoya's Poké Ball released a Shinx with heterochromia. The Shin'x left eye was the typical golden color while its right eye was a deep forest green. Yume's Charmander was of an altered coloration to typical Charmander species, sporting a bright yellow-orange coloration and also having the distinction of gigantism, being over 3' 6" in height. It was estimated that, due to its gigantism, when it was a Charizard it would be just shy of 12' tall, more than twice as large as the regular 5' 7" Charizard.

The two Pokémon were somewhat wary of their trainers at first, but after a few moments of Tomoya and Yume sitting quietly and patiently to give them time to adjust, the two Pokémon walked up to their new Trainers and sniffed them. It was a good sign. Smell was very important for Pokémon when it came to their Trainers as humans gave off a variety of pheromones which the Pokémon could pick up on and determine whether this was someone they cared to be with.

Luckily for Yume and Tomoya, both Pokémon had been raised by humans and were quick to accept their new Trainers. With Shinx hopping into Tomoya's lap and Charmander sitting down and curling up at Yume's hip, both Pokémon and their Trainers were content and happy to relax in the sun and enjoy each other's company for a while. Their journey could wait. There was no rush.

Ugggggghhhhhhhhh......Oh god. Not again. He was never, ever, drinking that Cinnabar Top Shelf Whiskey again, even with Stevenson's and Parker egging him on constantly, saying that he was a Snubbull if he didn't at least try to drink one drop. Although, that was their idea of a Birthday Gift in the first place. Robert shuffled his mink blanket off his bed in the dingy apartment that would have been fit for a Muk to live in. He looked at the alarm. 6:30 AM. 2 more hours, then. He could make it. He then slumped back down on his bed and yawned slightly before scratching his belly. Ah.......24. One more year closer to death as a old geezer, if he didn't die first in the force.

Then, Robert felt the wet, damp, pink, Sharpedo-Skin like, tongue of his hound licking him on the cheek. Of course, Abraham would never let his lazy nature get in the way of protocol and being a proper Law Enforcement Agent. He stood upwards as Abraham put his haunches onto his lap, knocking the wind out of him with his sheer weight and laying on top of him, continuing to enthusiastically lick his face.

" Oh, c'mon, Abraham. Get off me, you fat sack of shit. Jesus, I thought PT would have an effect on your fat ass but apparently, that take-out of Kobe Rib-eye that I took you to last night put all that effort in the bag, aye?"

All his whining was for naught, though. Abraham, for his species like many others, could run as fast as a Arcanine and could keep it up like a Spoink would never stop bouncing for its entire life. Abraham sneezed his response to his snarky answer and proceeded to drag Robert out of bed. A comical image of a giant, fluffy dog knawing on the arm of his half-naked owner. Robert slapped Abraham's jaw and worked his own, proceeding to stand up hazily and turning on the dim, lumnicsent glow of the lamp. Kneading his one eye, Robert walked towards a cupboard and took out a box of cereal, pouring it into a bowl as Abraham dragged out his own sack of specially made dog-food and kibble.

" Alright, alright, jeez, I'm getting up. I'm getting up." Robert then went towards the shower room, stopping as Abraham poured some water into his dog bowl.

" Hey, this ain't the military, Abraham. We're not working long shifts over in Unova or Johto. Here, got a little souvineer from last night's party."

Robert then took out a thick flank of Tauros steak from the fridge and then, dropped it inside Abraham's doggy bowl. Abraham gave him a silent stare that said it all before he began to snarf down on his breakfast, quickly and efficiently. Robert chuckled as he closed the door to his shower room and turned on the shower, signing briefly in relief as hot water pattered down on his back.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

" - And then, I was on patrol with Schwartz over here somewhere south of the Game Corner when I saw a couple of these freaky douchepickles. Black hats with them big red letters, of course, they were Team Rocket. Buncha jackasses. So, there I was. They bust into that old guy's convenience store, pulled out a couple of Poisons, Ratatas- Jeez, you'd think these criminals have a whole lot more panache to their arsenal- and then, this old fucker!-"

Sergeant Heizman then took a drink of his coffee as he shared his story with 5 other eager-looking officers in the mess hall. Robert was picking on his meat pie with a plastic fork, looking at it uninterestingly while Abraham was napping beside him, some of the young female officers cooing at his giant furry mass and asking Robert if they could touch him. Robert obliged while Abraham didn't offer any reaction, just snorting slightly in annoyance and barking if any female officers decided to get too curious and rub his belly.

His senior officer continued his story while some eager recruits looked at Heizman with interest, one them chewing on a doughnut while the other was gazing wide-eyed. Meanwhile, the only buddy and individual he had in the station, Corporal Remington, was sitting beside him, gazing amusingly at Heizman's storytelling. He then nudged Robert's shoulder, causing Robert to look at him with a raised eyebrow. " Hey, make sure to pick me up for patrol later at 1:00, alright. I'll be waiting down by the front gate, can't miss me." Robert nodded while Heizman continued his story.

" And then! This old fucker busts out the most fucking, pissed off Tauros I've ever seen in my life. Ancient Powered the whole lot of the Rocket's buggers and by the time I got out of the car, the old coot had them all knocked out and ready to go!"

Some of the new recruits whistled in wonder, one of them turning around to look at Ashton.

" Corporal Ashton, have you got any stories to share with us?"

Robert shifted uneasily before finishing off his coffee and wiping off his mouth with a procured napkin. He then replied briefly.

" Nothing of any importance. Sorry, gents, but I have to make my leave now. Come on, Abraham. Get off your ass. Time to get moving."

Robert nudged Abraham's hinds a little with his boot which drove his hound to attention and caused him to stand up on all fours. Robert then shrugged his copy of the Celadon Daily underneath the cradle of his elbow, standing up from his seat and walking out from the mess hall which was filled up with a bundle of officers that were chattering ineccesantly like fourth-graders or having dick-waving contests with each other.

He bashed open the door outside to the rest of the station as he breathed in the cold, hazy, air. He then walked towards the locker room as he punched in the 3-bit password, opened the lock and then, with a slight whine, the aluminium frame creaked as he opened the door.

Vest? Check.

Taser? Check.

Combat Knife? Check.

9mm Pistol? Check.

Flashlight? Check.

Emergency Metabolic-Enhancer Potions? Check.

Deoderant? Check.

Lawbook? Check.

Filebook of Wanted Criminals? Check.

Ticket to another one of Erika's Gym Battles later this evening? Righto.

Robert then began to close the frame before raising up his finger. Ah, right, he'd forgotten one more thing. Abraham's vest! It was right there next to the-

Abraham then went in front of him, stopping him from reaching outwards towards the vest with a bite to his hand. Robert winced slightly as he looked at Abraham before signing in annoyance.

" Are you serious, Abraham? God, you're being more worse than a three-year old. Just let me-"

Robert then took the vest out and then, gently began to tie it to Abraham's body as his hound struggled, grumbled, growled and barked all the way through. Robert finally finished tying the vest on and patted it firmly. Abraham looked at the blue vest which surrounded his body before grumbling at Robert. Robert then scratched Abraham's throat playfully before chuckling.

" See, that wasn't so bad, was it? Now, c'mon, we have to pick up Remington before we go on our patrol....."

Yume and Tomoya spent the better part of the afternoon playing and bonding with Blaze (Charmander) and Shin (Shinx). Because the two had been raised by humans, it was easy to begin bonding with them and having fun doing so. They played various games all afternoon and even had a mock battle just for fun. Despite Blaze being larger than normal Charmander, Shin still won the day thanks to a clever Thunder Wave which paralyzed Blaze leaving him unable to continue battling properly.

By the time the sun was beginning to set on the horizon, Tomoya and Yume recalled both Pokémon to their Poké Balls and made their way to the Pokémon Center where they put themselves up for the night in the Trainer Rest Area.

The two of them got a room together and laid down for the night with Yume falling asleep against Tomoya as he read a book on Pokémon Physiology which he picked up from the small mini library in the Pokémon Center Lobby. Within the book, which was Volume 3 out of Volume 15, detailed information about Electric Type Pokémon which was perfect for learning about his Shinx.

For starters, he learned that Shinx gain more electrical energy the more they walk due to the yellow rings on their front legs serving the same function as the glands in the cheeks of the Pikachu family. The more muscle contractions from walking, the more electricity their bodies built and stored. As well, if touched, those rings could give him a nasty shock. He'd have to remember that.

As Yume slept soundly up against him, he finally put the book down at about 12am and went to sleep.

Date: December 4, 2016

Time: 0745

Tomoya had awoken at the crack of dawn leaving Yume to sleep in the bed as she was more of an actual morning rise than a "pre-dawn" riser like Tomoya.

He cleaned up the space in the room they used, went outside to the alley behind the Pokémon Center and did a morning workout of 4 repetitions of 50 push ups, 50 sit-ups, 50 squats, 50 tuck jumps, and holding the plank position for 1 minute and 25 seconds. All in all, 200 of each and 5 minutes of plank. He then ran around the city for an hour, making it back just in time for the sun to come up at around 6:20am. He then went inside and took a shower, trying his best not to wake Yume, but failing.

Yume woke up and surprised him by hopping into the shower with him, but other than that he had a normal morning. Yume as well had a normal morning after the shower was over. She made breakfast, washed their clothes, and double checked that Tomoya hadn't left anything lying around as he was somewhat of a forgetful person when it came to his personal effects. Yume took it upon herself to make sure he was all packed up and good to go before they left the Pokémon Center with the intention of going to the Poké Mart to buy their first Poké Balls.

Between the two of them, they had plenty of money to start with. But they had to be careful and participate in as many battles as they could to ensure that not only did they meet their Poké Ball, Potion, camping, and other such needs, but that they had enough money to send back for their monthly house payments. Tomoya had a grand total of $3,450 saved in an account just for this journey, and Yume had $2,880. All together, they had $6,330. More than enough for their needs right now, but still it was only 7 house payments (so 7 months) before they theoretically ran out of funds to pay their monthly house payments if they didn't supplement their earnings with Pokémon battle rewards.

Another option was part-time (or full-time if they could find it) work as a Pokémon Trainer at various Pokémon Trainer licensed employer facilities. Pokémon Breeding establishments, for instance, often hired Pokémon Trainer assistants. Pokémon Training Facilities which were like traditional workout gyms for humans, but designed for Pokémon, also regularly hired Pokémon Trainers as staff and/or faculty for the classes for clients who wish to participate in group sessions.

But they had a feeling there were enough people to battle with and gain the kind of money they needed. So long as they caught a full team of Pokémon and made sure that they were well cared for, well loved, and well trained, they knew they'd be all right. But first they had to actually fill out their teams, so the two of them gathered their belongings and headed to the Goldenrod Pokémon Market Building. Upon entry they were greeted by a receptionist and asked what they needed, and they said they needed Poké Balls, and were directed to the 3rd floor.

Once on the third floor, they approached the receptionist and asked about Poké Balls and found that it cost a total of $200 per Ball. That was expensive. But then again, these were the devices which captured and held Pokémon as part of their team and their lives. So it made sense that they were expensive.

Both of them decided to buy 5 Poké Balls each, knocking them down a grand each. It was a big investment, but if those Poké Balls were able to contain good Pokémon to add to their teams and enhance their lives and experience as Trainers, then it would be an investment well worth it. With their 5 new Poké Balls in hand, they left on their journey and departed from Goldenrod heading south to the Ilex Forest.

What awaited within?

Time would tell.

The sound of an alarm clock blaring for the third time this morning filled the room as faint sunlight crept in through the curtains and it's rays shone directly into the eyes of the sleeping male. He groaned and slowly sat up, letting his dark hair fall in a wild fashion onto his head before forcing himself out of bed.

he shuffled silently across the hall and into his bathroom where he proceeded his morning ritual of staring blankly at himself before hoping into the shower. The warm water began to wake him as it washed over his person, and he let out one final yawn before leaving the bathroom followed by a small cloud of steam which soon vanished as well.

"Gonna be a busy day: first I've gotta go register, then sign the papers a work..and afterwards go grab Growlithe."

It had been three days since they last saw each other and the last meeting wasn't as bittersweet as the rest. The small canine wanted out of that place and who could blame him, he was used to roaming wherever he pleased but now he was on a leash. Metaphorically and Literally speaking in a way. Victor couldn't help but feel bad for what he'd done, but at least this way he could keep track of Growlithe and make sure he was actually safe and not have to worry about him being on the streets at night.

Victor soon left his small apartment and headed down to Goldenrods Pokémon League Office building for registration. And arrived rather early than planned, but at least he was ahead of schedule. He watched as several trainers went in for registration, some going alone while others in pairs which was usually the case since alot of people traveled in groups but he preferred to go alone. That way he wouldn't have to worry about others slowing him down or waiting for them to keep up with him.

one more couple had gone ahead of Victor with a well dressed man for registration while he sat quietly staring off into space, only coming down when he heard his name.

"Mr. McKnight?" A woman in a rather flattering black dress called over to him. To which he responded with a nod before approaching. "My  sincerest apologies for the wait, right this way."  She gave him a genuine smile before leading him into a room with a single chair, a small table and a camera posted in the top corner of the room. Was this and interrogation or registration?

Victor took a seat across from her and watched as she slid him a small packet of forms to fill out, before hitting him with a series of questions about his work, personal, health, and financial situation. Which he answered honestly since he was in a good spot on all of those and had no real reason to worry like most would imagine.

once it was all said and done, Victor had gotten up and followed the woman into another room. Where she began explaining to him about the pokedex and all of its features, while it seemed like he was paying attention, Victor had zoned out completely and was just nodding at this point and hoping that nothing was a question. So once again took him to another room where they took his photo for his Trainer License, and after five minutes of her trying to coax him into smiling he gave in and gave her a satisfied smirk which seemed to be enough for her.

Finally after what felt like ages he was free, they'd given him not only his license but his pokedex as well which he registered immediately after receiving. And made his way over to the radio tower, and sat through another boring meeting where they talked about the conditions of his job and how it was "Dangerous" and how many people turn down field jobs despite slight raise in pay and how they could cover hotel, food, and medical expenses.

Victor was once again signing papers and being wished good luck as he received a camera, a laptop and a small recorder that he could upload articles and interviews to if everything ever got the opportunity, the camera was for getting shots of the scenes and anything newsworthy that could also be uploaded.

once again they wished him Goodluck before sending him off.  The day had already flew by and it was getting rather late so he decided to put off getting Growlithe until the next morning, but he did stop by the shopping center in advance so he could purchase items for his journey so they could head out first thing in the morning.

Victor had more than enough money to buy pokeballs, he'd been saving up money for supplies and other necessities and had about $9,500 saved up but of course  $910 per month would be going towards the rent in his apartment. But that was a sacrifice he could make since not only did he get paid by his job but by trainers he battled as well, so money wasn't a concern for him yet. He did buy 5 pokeballs and 3 potions which in itself came out to $1,900 and left him with $7,600 so he was still alright In his eyes but decided to call it a night once he headed home.

Dec, 4th

Victor woke around the same time as yesterday. Following his routine but only this time he wouldn't be home for quite some time, he grabbed his bag which held a change of clothea, pokeballs and potions, as well as some light gear for camping that was held in a smaller bag that he held on his back with the other one.

He headed out and towards the Pokémon center to retrieve his Growlithe and was actually a bit surprised that no one was out and about yet, well except for the nurse who worked there and she greeted him cheerfully as he approached before disappearing into the back. Leaving him at the counter for a moment before she returned with a single pokeball on a small silver tray, before speaking.

"Now I feel it's only fair to warn you that your Growlithe is fairly aggressive towards strangers and isn't a big fan of being held unit ball for too long. So if I were you I'd let him out and stretch a bit, I'd recommend Ilex forest it's a perfect place for fire types like him and a nice place to run freely, or you could take him to the National Park just north of here but they have a small policy against fires."

Victor nodded and took Growlithes pokeball before turning to leave, once outside he paused and thought for a moment. While there were heard to be some big and grass types at National Park, there was a strict rule against anything that could damage the park itself since it was more of a family and date area. While Ilex forest was free game and even had a good amount of bugs to train with and Growlithe could hunt in peace.

"It's decided, we'll head to the forest and then I'll let you run around and stretch your legs."

Victor smiled slightly before heading off into the forest and once he found a small clearing near a lake he nodded before letting his Growlithe out, who turned and looked at him with a sharp gaze before growling and baring it's fangs.

"Easy buddy, easy."

Victor took a few steps back before sitting down near the lake and looking over at the canine as it watched him closely, the two stared each other down much like on the day they first met. It felt like hours had passed before Growlithe moved forward and began sniffing at Victor before pawing at his lap and climbing up onto it and hesitantly licking at his cheek before backing off and looking towards some bushes and dashed off with great speed, diving head first into them.

a struggle could be heard before a small squeal was heard before all the rustling stopped as the small canine returned happily with a Caterpie in its jaws, he began tearing into it before nudging the rest towards Victor.

"Oh..uh thanks, I um ate already? Good boy?"

Victor smiled nervously as he refused the small gift and watched as Growlithe finished off the small bug with ease before running off again and rolling around happily in the grass. Victor took this moment to think back in what he'd read about Growlithe and his species and how they were pack animals and if he wanted to raise him correctly he'd have to establish that he was the alpha immediately before he grew up thinking it was the other way around.

"Alright, I got this..Growlithe come!"

He pointed to the ground in front of him before watching as the small dog tilted it's head, briefly ignoring him before finally catching on and doing as instructed. The male sighed in relief as he gave the Pokémon a light scratch on the head, watching as his tailed swayed happily from this before he turned and went back to running around in the grass and chasing smaller bugs and bird Pokémon around.

Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all

Ryan Abel

Dec 4, 2016

Time: 1125

The tree stump was watching him.

"Head down." Ryan said.

The stump continued its suspicious activities.

"Head down." Ryan repeated. The stump did not respond. Sitting four feet from the stump, Ryan visibly slumped. He'd really thought he was making progress this time. Yesterday's training went well and he felt that Zeol was really getting somewhere, but apparently she'd forgotten everything overnight and had reverted back to her old self.

"Zeol, head down and close your eyes."

The rebellious tree stump made some form gesture - irritable, maybe exhausted. Ryan felt a pang of guilt, but he couldn't let that show. Zorua were nocturnal creatures, and acclimatizing Zeol to the daylight wasn't an easy feat. She probably felt sleepy. Maybe she needed some energy. Ryan dipped a hand into his pocket and dug out a small chocolate bar. He held it in front of his face, displaying it deliberately. "Zeol ... watch ..." He spoke slowly as he peeled away the wrapping. He closed his eyes, bowed his head down, and brought the chocolate bar up to his mouth. He took a bite, chewed, then re-wrapped the bar and stuffed it into his pocket again. "See?"

The stump seemed ... on edge.

Ryan pushed his hand into his other pocket, and out came a small white bag. He scooped a small handful of colourful pellets and shuffled toward the stump. Tentatively, he reached a hand to the stump. His fingers hesitated as they met the edge of the "wood", then slowly pushed on - pressing through the surface of the wood and inside without resistance. His fingertips met something warm and soft.  His fingers brushed Zeol's cheek as she gave a short, confused murmur, and they continued searching and navigating across her face until his hand covered her eyes. Naturally she closed her eyes - she didn't want anything poking at them, of course. Then Ryan's hand pressed down on her head. "Head down."

She resisted momentarily, but the smell of treats under her nose bridged the gap. Ryan closed his eyes and lowered his head - he ate food. Catching on, she squeezed her eyes and dipped her head down, her chin landing in an outstretched hand. Her tail flicked back and forth and she dove into her meal enthusiastically.

"Good." Ryan smiled faintly and shoveled the small pile of treats onto the ground underneath Zeol's nose. "Head down." he repeated. The stump now had a certain energy to it, a kind of movement - but it was no longer watching him. Ryan stood up and moved back a few steps. The movement was still there, and he'd have to do something about that, but it didn't have the same suspicious animosity to it.

"Break." Ryan snapped his fingers.

The stump was gone without a trace. A Zorua sat in its place, tail swishing idly behind her and head down as she enjoyed her meal. Ryan moved close again and sat in front of her, placing his hand on the scruff of her neck and running his hand through her fur. She didn't respond to this - a good sign, as far as Ryan was concerned. She didn't growl if he approached while she was eating, which he considered to be a pretty important breakthrough a month ago. Just because she was used to humans didn't mean she liked them by any stretch of the imagination. The growling had stopped, so perhaps she was past outright hating him at the very least.

"Zeol."

The pokemon paused and looked up. The two held gazes for several seconds.

"Head down."

Zeol dipped her head again and began eating again. Ryan gave a short nod and stroked his fingers through her main once more. Complain as Ryan might, Zeol could interpret commands well - it was teaching new words and getting her to obey that were the tricky parts. She was more than capable - it was the "willing" part he was struggling with.

"Alright, good start." Ryan stood and arched his back as he took a moment to look around. The route 12 A-track was a peaceful track winding between and over gentle, rolling hills and through light forest. On the edge of the track, he and Zeol were relatively safe. The path was decorated with signposts dotted down its length, the occasional bench to sit on and a few fenceposts along the side at points. Any trees bearing fruit had been cut down or relocated long ago, removing what little incentive remained for wild Pokemon to approach. It was a distinctly human affair, and wild pokemon tended to keep their distance or pass over as quickly as possible. The B-track, of course, was another affair entirely. The B-track was for trainers, researchers or other individuals intent on encountering wild pokemon, and wound through the denser parts of the forest.

"Come on." Ryan tapped his shoe on the ground. "I think you could do with a walk."

"Zoroor?" Zeol's head jumped up. Her pile of food had nearly vanished.

"Yeah. I was thinking of a short walk along the path before heaving back to Lacunosa. I'll probably be hungry by then." He raised an arm and pointed down the pathway for emphasis. "Yes? No?"

"Zorooror." Zeol trotted to his side and looked up at him, pawing at his shoe.

"I'll take that as a yes. Come on, then."

Tomoya and Yume reached the edge of the Ilex Forest shortly before 11:30am, and as they stood outside the entrance they glanced to each other.

"Ready?"

"You have to ask?"

He smiled and she chuckled as they walked into the entrance together, and the difference was almost night and day. Just a simple ten steps into he entrance to the forest and it was already so thick in the canopy that there were only a few stray strands of light shining through over the main path for the next several hundred feet before a clearing in the canopy allowed much more light through. But it was a small clearing. The forest was dark. It was somewhat foreboding. And it felt like the perfect place to test their bond with their new Pokémon.

"Wow... It got dark fast."

"No kidding. We should get a move on." He said.

Yume nodded and trotted up beside him as they walked along the path. The main path through the forest was extensive, going on for some 130 miles from one end to the other before reaching Azalea Town.

It was huge.

But what was even more amazing was that the 130 miles was just the main path. If one counted all of the paths which diverged from the main path, the forest included just shy of 1,400 miles of wilderness area full of Pokémon. It was a true haven for enthusiasts of bug and grass-type Pokémon, but for Yume and Tomoya, it represented a growth opportunity for themselves as well.

"What should we do? Are we going to Azalea Town or are you planning on exploring the forest for Pokémon?"

"Hmm... Honestly I hadn't planned on anything specific. I figured we'd wander for a while and see what we found. Maybe we'll get lucky and find a few Pokémon to test Shin and Blaze." He said.

Yume sighed and shook her head.

"I should have known that you were more interested in seeing what was going to happen than relying on a planned course of action. You never change do you?"

"Would you have me any other way?"

"Well..."

Tomoya arched an eyebrow, and Yume broke out laughing.

"I'm kidding, Tomoya. Of course I wouldn't have you any other way!" She said as she clung to his arm.

"Now come on. We have exploring to do!"

Tomoya sighed as they walked on through the main path looking at the map they had of the forest to ensure they wouldn't get lost. Yume used a pencil to lightly trace their path, doubling their chances of ensuring they didn't get lost. They continued on the main path for around fifteen minutes, taking note of the fact that it seemed largely empty of Pokémon at the present time.

"Where could they be?"

"Deeper into the forest and away from the main path tread by humans, most likely."

Yume wasn't thrilled with leaving the main road, but she knew that if they wanted to meet new Pokémon they had to do so. Luckily they had their map and they had a compass as well built into the Pokédex. If they got lost, all they had to do was head North and they'd find the edge of the forest before long and make their way back to Goldenrod City.

Tomoya and Yume continued meandering through the forest off the main road. They'd been doing so, while staying within a few hundred feet of it, for about three hours now since arriving at the Forest and it was becoming clear that they were still too close to the main road. They'd seen only a handful of Pokémon thus far, and none they wanted to capture or battle against. Half of those they'd seen had fled anyway, so they decided it was time to venture in a bit further.

With Tomoya up front and Yume holding the back of his vest, they went deeper still into the dark Ilex Forest, and things began to change right before their eyes almost as if like magic. The underbrush grew thicker, the canopy thinner with more light pouring in from above, and the number of Pokémon they saw increased dramatically. At first it was just a few bird and small bug type Pokémon, but as they went further they found a few grass types as well to complement the previous ensemble. Everything from Taillow to Scatterbug to Hoppip and even a Rattata or two could be found skittering about their business. Many of them avoided the pair or hid outright, while a few select others actually stood their ground and took warning poses and made warning hisses and sounds at them to let them know they were getting too close.

Tomoya and Yume proceeded with great caution while keeping both eyes open. The last thing they needed was to encounter something which they couldn't actually fight back against.

However, as they meandered back a little towards the main road they found that the fewer numbers of isolated Pokémon were more a boon to them than they'd previously thought. They stopped when they found a lone Paras meandering about, and they agree it'd be best if Yume took this one.

"All right Blaze, this is our first real battle. Let's do this!" She said as she released him from his Poké Ball.

Blaze appeared from the resulting white light and blinked a few times before turning and looking at Yume.

"Blaze, that Paras is our target! It's time to battle!" She said.

Blaze turned and looked at Paras, who turned and looked at him in return, and as the Paras raised its front legs and hissed at Blaze, he responded by growling and taking a more aggressive posture.

"Blaze, get in close and use your Tail Whip!" She called.

Blaze responded with a short, rather adorable, roar and rushed forward towards Paras. The Paras responded by emitting a yellow spore cloud from its back, and Blaze instinctively stopped and retreated.

"Blaze, what are you doing?" She asked.

"Unless I'm mistaken, that's Stun Spore. If Blaze inhales it, he'll become paralyzed for a while and be at Paras's mercy."

"Oh... I didn't know."

"Now you do. Focus."

"Right."

Yume had to think for a moment before a plan came to her.

"Blaze, if you know Ember, get in close and use it on the cloud!"

Tomoya smiled.

Blaze did as ordered and rushed forward before spinning on his heel and swinging his tail violently towards the Paras who was still hissing at him. The embers from his tail, nothing more than tiny wisps of flame being tossed about, caught the Stun Spore cloud and caught it ablaze sending the resulting fire directly at Paras. The little mushroom Pokémon tried to retreat, but it had put itself in a corner between two large tree trunks and thus it was impossible to escape. The fire caught Paras and sent it into a frenzy of panic, but at least the Stun Spore cloud was gone.

However, Tomoya spotted a problem...

"Good! Now get in there and use Tail Whip! Follow it with a bite and finish it!"

Blaze obeyed, rushing forward and spinning on its heel to deliver a powerful Tail Whip to the Paras which knocked it onto its back. He then proceeded to open his mouth and bit down hard on the Paras's thorax just below its head.

Much to Yume's horror, she heard a horrible "CRUNCH" sound and saw a subsequent burst of yellow-green blood spurt from Paras's body before it went completely still. Blaze thrashed his head slightly, and the little mushroom Pokémon's head and part of the upper thorax popped clean off separating it from the lower half.

Yume nearly lost her breakfast, dropping to her knees as a wave of nausea overtook her and she covered her mouth in shock and horror at what she'd just seen.

"Yume! There's no time for that! Your tactic to defeat it worked, but it also caught that bush on fire! We need to put it out, now!!" Tomoya yelled.

He had to shake Yume a few times to get her out of her stupor, and she helped him to isolate the fire and put it out before recalling Blaze who had begun feasting on the Paras before being recalled. When it was all over, Yume dropped to her knees again as the nausea returned. This time, she couldn't hold it in. Yume threw up, and Tomoya knelt down beside her rubbing her back and supporting her to keep her from falling forward into what she'd just released.

He helped her sit backwards and scooted her back towards a tree and gave her a bottle of water he had in his pack. She chugged it for a moment before giving it back and burying her face in his chest and cried.

"I didn't mean for that to happen... I didn't want Blaze to kill it." She whimpered.

Tomoya nodded.

"I know. You just wanted him to 'finish' the battle and perhaps knock it out. But Blaze interpreted your order differently, thinking it was a command to end it so he could enjoy a meal. You have to remember that Blaze is a carnivore, and he needs to eat. Those few tablets of Pokémon food he gets from the Poké Mart aren't enough to sustain his nutritional needs you know."

Yume nodded, but continued crying. Tomoya comforted her and rubbed her back.

"It's all right. Now you know that Blaze doesn't quite understand what you as his Trainer want and need from him. This means you have something to work towards. You have to teach him that killing is not something you will tolerate unless you specifically release him to feed himself. Otherwise, a Pokémon battle is not the time to kill his opponent."

Yume nodded, but then looked up at him.

"How do I do that?"

Tomoya shook his head.

"You're his Trainer. You need to be the one to set the ground rules and teach him what you want from him in battle."

Yume understood, but it didn't make her feel any better. Tomoya couldn't train her Pokémon for her. It was her job. Her responsibility. Pokémon understood the basics of human speech, but interpreting more than just what came on the surface with orders in battle was not something they did well apparently. It would take time to teach them that in a battle meant for sport and training, killing was not a favorable or tolerable outcome. At least not for Yume. When he needed food, she'd send him out to get it on his own. She could't bear to watch such a thing.

With a hard lesson learned, Yume and Tomoya got up and continued their trek through Ilex Forest seeking new Pokémon to battle and possibly to capture in the near future.

(If anyone wants to use the opportunity to encounter Tomoya and Yume, then you're welcome to do so. However do be advised that this entire RP can be played solo. If you want to group up, then by all means do so. But if you want to enjoy the experience as a solo player and enjoy your own personal adventure, just say the work and I'll open a new Topic for your character specifically so you can enjoy your solo time without worrying about interfering with the larger group-based IC thread.)

Victor walked silently through the deeper parts of the forest with Growlithe, only pausing to let the canine handle it's 'business' behind a few trees every now and then. It seemed like he was only marking territory for a while, but whenever Victor would turn to investigate Growlithe would bark in protest, so he eventually gave up on trying to figure it out.

The pair walked along silently. Watching as bugs scrambled around, along with a few bird Pokémon flying around and pecking at the insects. A few had gotten a bit more aggressive as they got closer,  but turned away once Growlithe began barking in protest.

"I wonder where all the Pokémon are." Victor paused for a moment, listening to the area around them.

The duo jumped as the sound of rustling bushes could be heard behind them. Watching with great anticipation before a small group of Deerling could be made out from the other side, they seemed to be eating a few berries from one of the bushes and paid no mind to both of them. Victor turned his head to face Growlithe who already had his eyes locked onto one who was closer than the others, his instincts seemed to kick in as well as he crouched down and awaited a command.

"Wait for the right moment, then rush it with Fire Fang." Victor slowly knelt down, making sure to keep quiet as well.

a few minutes passed by as Growlithe continued to creep forward, staying low as he reached the edge of the bushes and paused briefly before slowly letting flames flow from its throat and into its mouth, holding its flow around his fangs as it took of with great speed and latched onto the Deerling's side. The others scattered from the sudden disruption while Growlithe tried to maintain its grip as the grass type bucked and tried to throw him off, and was eventually successful and dashed off through the bushes.

"Stay on on it!" Victor quickly rose to his feet as he watched growlithe run after it, staying a few feet behind as it dipped through trees.

"Faster, aim for its hind legs and use bite."

Growlithe nodded and rushed forward, leaning into his sprint before he launched himself at the Deerling's hind legs. But the Pokémon quickly stopped in its tracks before lifting itself on its front legs and delivered two swift kicks onto Growlithes underbelly, sending him flying back into a bush with a yelp as it ran off into the forest again.

"Growlithe, are you alright?"

The small canine gave an aggressive bark towards Victor before running after the other Pokémon, with pure anger in its eyes.

Victor tried to keep up with the Growlithe, while at the same time ducking branches, only catching a glimpse of Growlithe tackling the Deerling and biting fiercely into the back of its neck using Fire Fang, making it cry out in great pain as it squirmed and tried to force growlithe off. It was only when Victor saw small streams of blood flowing from its neck that made him call growlithe off, reaching into his bag to grab one of the pokeballs and tossed it over at the Deerling as it quickly got onto its feet.

The ball shook once before breaking open and rolling back over to Victors feet, he sighed before looking at growlithe who was ready to carry on.

"Use bite on its back legs bit don't get caught by its kick again."

Growlithe nodded before rushing in with great speed, jumping to the side as the Deerling began kicking again and as its legs fell, growlithe jumped and bit down roughly onto its back leg. The Pokémon began thrashing around which only made the canine tighten it's grip before a loud snap could be heard before growlithe fell back and watched as the Deerling tried to stand before slowly collapsing on its hind leg and began emitting a small green glow which seemed to heal some of its minor injuries but it's leg was still slightly snapped.

"One more Fire Fang, then fall back." Victor picked up the pokeball and wiped it off on his jacket as he watched growlithe run forward and slam into the Deerling's side, knocking it over before he let the flames flow back into his mouth and began biting down on its neck again but with a different intent this time.

"No! I said fall back, Growlithe." Victor snapped at the canine and pointed to his side, watching as the flames slowly disappeared and he held the flinching Deerling in his jaws, glaring at the young man.

"Fall back, now." Victors tone became more firm as he commanded the small canine who hesitantly dropped the Pokémon and slowly limped over, obviously hurt from its powerful kicks.

Victor quickly threw the pokeball again, and watched as Deerling was engulfed in a rayear of red light. The ball began to rock slowly before breaking open again, aso the Deerling slowly stood and tried to run off but only fell due to its injury, breathing heavily as the duo closed the gap between them as it kicked from the ground at Victor and Growlithe, sending small specks of dirt flying up.

"Please don't make this even more difficult, he'll only make it worse if you struggle." Victor watched as Growlithe bit down onto the deers side, holding a firm but non-lethal grip as it continued to squirm as Victor threw the pokeball again, causing the Deerling to be absorbed by the familiar red light. He honestly wanted it to be over, he couldn't stand the sight of what he'd done to the Pokémon, and either two things would happen: he'd catch it..or Growlithe will just say fuck it and kill the other, he was silently praying for the first option.

"Just stay."

Victor watched as the ball began to slowly sway, pausing briefly before continuing and eventually stopping with a small click which meant it was captured, normally something like this called for celebration but he simply picked the pokeball up and looked it over as he returned Growlithe as well.

"Looks like we gotta stop at a center, guys."

He shook his head before walking back down the way they came, but the path wasn't the same like before. Luckily two other trainers were headed his way, regrettably he'd have to ask for directions as he met them halfway.

"Excuse me, I hate to interrupt but would either of you know how close Azalea Town is from here? Or if we're closer to Goldenrod?" He gave a polite half smile before removing his glasses to wipe off the dirt that was kicked by Deerling.

(Sorry if it seemed a bit rushed, I wanted to get a quick post up just so you knew I was still around. I'll probably edit a bit later)

@ChoShadow

Tomoya and Yume continued their trek through the forest. After the horrifying conclusion to her first wild Pokémon battle with Blaze, her steps had slowed somewhat. Tomoya was taking things at a slower pace and making sure she drank plenty of water to get her electrolytes back up after losing her lunch earlier.

Not too long after they had continued on their way, they encountered another Trainer with a Growlithe trailing after him who asked them about Azalea Town.

Tomoya regarded the Trainer, all the while supporting Yume who was quite pale and had one arm over his shoulder to help her keep steady.

"Goldenrod is much closer. The path from here to Azalea Town is at least another 125 miles to the South. We've kept relatively close to the main entrance from the forest to Goldenrod over the last three hours, having stopped for about one or so to rest. If you travel North from here at any good clip you should reach the exit in about two hours or so." He said.

" This is complete utter horseshit! I was travelling under 100! I swear to god, you must be joking with me! Aren't Johtonese Speed Regulations more lenient than Kantonese ones?"

Robert looked towards his partner, Remington, who shrugged at him as Abraham was saddled onto the hood of the car, eyeing suspiciously at the owner while barking slightly at Robert. Robert then forced the ticket in the disobedient civilian's hands before crossing his arms.

" Sir, it's just a walk over towards the nearest station to pay your fine. If you don't, you'll escalate this into a prosecution. Now, could you please accept the speeding ticket?"

The man paused for a second before taking it deftly in his hands and then, snorting.

" Bloody fucking Law Enforcement...."

The car then zoomed off, leaving Robert and Remington in the dirt while Abraham took a moment to sniff around, scratching his left ear professionally with the damp padding of his paws before jumping into Robert's personnel police vehicle commandeered from the station's garage. Remington murmured towards Robert as they clipped their seat-belts and continued their patrol.

" How long until Officer's Jenny and Joy come through?"

Robert looked at his watch before patting his partner's back sympathetically. There was no need for communication. Remington groaned and slammed his head against the steering wheel before zooming off.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

" Sir, I need a license for that Drati- SHIT! He's getting off! Abraham, PURSUIT! "

The man was running away with a Dratini craddled within his hands. Robert and Remington were running after him at the best a human could handle while Abraham was bounding over towards the man easily with his canine speed.

" OH, COME ON. WHY DOES THIS ALWAYS HAPPEN TO US?"

Remington then tossed out a Poke-Ball which burst open to reveal a Magnemite. The clinking, magnet Pokemon zoomed after, propelling itself with electromagnetic induction, preparing for a lethal zap.

" Thundershock!"

The man went down along with his rare and valuable Dratini, spasming and seizuring before laying to a still, smoking and groaning in pain on the concrete. Robert saddled up on his back and began to handcuff him.

" You are under arrest. You have a right to use Alakazams! Anything that can be said will be used against you in the Golden-Rod Court!"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

" Sir, could you please open your window? Yes, we have a right to search your vehicle. Yes, please, step out for the-"

The man then dropped a potion on the ground before barfing out his entire lunch and dinner. Robert then picked the potion up and observed for a second, letting Abraham sniff it for a second before looking back at the drug-induced man as if he was serious.

" Seriously, dude? I mean, what the hell did you even make this potion out of? It's meant for mon, you-"

The man began running away as Robert groaned out loud for what seemed like the umpteenth time today.

" OH COME ON. WHY THE HELL DOES THIS HAPPEN?"

Remington decided to add his commentary to the situation as well.

" EVERY TIME!"

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Robert and Remington were hungry, fautigued and exhausted after a long day of arresting perpretrators, handing out speed tickets and so forth. The usual life of a Law Enforcement Agent. This time, they were in a patrol through the Ilex Forest. Robert had Abraham venture out in front of them, keeping them away from any wild Snorlaxes or any wild mon that happened to be in the forest. Remington then whispered towards Abraham.

" Any signs of HPI's, Abraham?"

Abraham lifted a single paw upwards and then, shoved in downwards in the soil. Essentially, morse code for no. Robert shook his head before looking at the litany of pictures he had on hand.

" Well, we've got rumoured sightings of poachers and muggers in the Ilex Forest. It's like the Viridian all over again. Only this time, there ain't no masses of wild Beedrill trying to sting you to fucking death which is a good thing."

Abraham eventually led them over to three trainers in a route, barking slowly towards Robert and Remington to come forth. Robert then walked over towards the trio, looking at the pictures before looking at them. Nope. Didn't hit a mark. He then slid the list of pictures back inside his vest before speaking to the trio of trainers that were in front of him.

"  Hello there. Sorry but it's standard procedure for every Law Enforcement Officer to see a Trainer's ID. We're just checking for any illegal trainers of the sort. So, ID's please?"

Remington then snarked as he looked at the three trainers with a bit of contempt.

" Why are we wasting our time with these guys, Ashton? Can't we just skip patrol a hour early?"

Tomoya had just barely finished attempting to tell the other Trainer about Goldenrod being closer when he heard the sound of footsteps nearby. His head turned to the side and he saw a Stoutland approaching. It was a bit alarming, and he protectively drew Yume a bit further under his arm and behind him as he turned to face the Pokémon.

However, a pair of Pokémon police officers appeared from behind it, and he could only presume that one of them was the owner of the Soutland.

The first officer approached and asked to see their ID's, as they were patrolling for Pokémon poachers and such. Tomoya was about to reach for his Pokédex, but the other officer spoke rather rudely about them being a waste of time and asking to skip patrol early and Tomoya stopped trying to get his Pokédex out. Yume cringed inwardly, as she knew what was about to happen.

Tomoya, never being one for such behavior no matter who it was from, regarded the second officer with a calm but obviously irritated frown.

"When my father was on the force, such laziness was not a prerequisite nor was it tolerated among the ranks. It seems the quality of some of our force has taken a nose dive since my father left." He said.

Tomoya felt a tug on his shirt and glanced at Yume out of the corner of his eye. She was shaking her head, obviously asking silently for him not to start trouble. However, Tomoya looked back to the officer without responding to her gesture.

"If you truly care so little for your duties, officer, then quit. That kind of attitude is why a lot of people no longer trust Pokémon law enforcement to do their jobs properly, nor would they trust you with their lives in the event that it came to such a thing." He said calmly.

Yume sighed quietly and looked the other way, knowing full well that Tomoya had no intention of letting the officer's behavior go unpunished.

He glanced to the officer who had asked for his Pokédex.

"I would ask for another partner if I were you." He said.

@Borkus Lazorus

Remington snarked slightly as he took a moment to take out a Unovan Petill Cigar in the middle of the Ilex Forest, snapping it open with a lighter and inhaling the fumes.

" Yeah, well, it'd be better if people weren't such dumbasses with their Pokemon all the time. Easy for a civvy like you to say- EEP! "

Robert whistled for Abraham to come over which came a signal for Abraham to bite Remington's hinds for him to shut up. Robert inwardly agreed with Remington's unrefined answer but chose not to speak his opinions out loud. He then looked at his partner, rolling his eyes, before replying to Remington's slight pained gruntings.

" Look, Remy. You aren't increasing PR Relations between the community and the Law Enforcement Agency. So, bite your yap, will ya?"

Remington quickly followed his fellow officer's command as he continued smoking his cigar. Robert then looked back towards Yume with a chuckle.

" Sorry 'bout my partner. But, I'd prefer it if you didn't start a fight out in the Ilex Forest. Seems like your friend over there has the right idea about what to do and what not to do."

Robert motioned his head towards Yume before lengthening out his hand for Tomoya's and Yume's ID's.

" Now, can we please get back to business? I.D's please. Also, Abraham here's going to do a scan on you both for any illicit substances or anything suspiscious. Don't worry. It's just some sniffing. Stoutland's like him can sniff a Fearow's fart underneath the sea and his nose is sensetive like hell."

Victor sighed, finding the trainers answer a bit disappointing as he looked back at growlithe. The small canine refused to show any signs of being tired, he was about to respond but was put on hold by a large Stoutland barking and rushing towards them, which resulted in Growlithe rushing in front of Victor in a defensive position and growling quietly.

but the larger pokémon was soon followed by two police officers. One who proceeded to ask for identification, which was standard for most officers while the other simply suggested that they call it a day, which made Victor shake his head in disapproval knowing that his father would be disgusted by the officers actions.

"Easy Growlithe, it's rather sad to see that some officers don't take their jobs seriously anymore. While I can understand that you may be tired, it's your job to handle matters like these no matter how annoying they may be."

The other trainer seemed to have the same understanding as Victor, as he began to tell off the officer but it was cut short by what he assumed was the man's girlfriend and she herself seemed to sick to even argue with what was said.

"My job would kill for a story like this..but luckily I'm off the clock and I don't find you very interesting. But again I feel for public safety it'd be nice if I could share a warning to travelers in my next article, if that's fine with you gentlemen."

He gave a slight smirk as he pulled out his pokedex to show identification, along with his work badge to prove who he worked under, looking over to see Growlithe sniffing at the larger pokémon while maintaining safe distance. Victor also took a looked over at the other two trainers as the Stoutland began sniffing around them.

"I'd only be asking for simple facts as to how long this has been going on, and what you intend to do about it...besides trying to take off early from work."

He wasn't amused by the officers lack of concern for his work, but decided it'd be fair if he didn't mention it. That is if they went along with the short interview, but it was only fair that they did since something like this should be public knowledge.

Tomoya listened to the more polite officer, but couldn't help but roll his eyes at the mention of "don't start a fight."

"No disrespect to you, officer, but if a fight started it would be due to your partner's immaturity. Not anything I have to say. If mr. Remy there can't take a bit of honest criticism from a civilian who's father still, four years after his retirement, holds the best police record in all of Johto, then he's not fit for the job."

He looked back over to the officer called "Remy."

"If you have a problem with anything I've said, blame it on former Chief Hiro Akabane. He taught me everything about being an officer in hopes I'd choose to be one myself someday and continue his legacy on the force. I chose not to, but I remember everything my father taught me about what it means to be an officer and, looking at you, I'm not impressed. I may be a civilian right now, but it's clear to me that if I applied for the position I'd do a hell of a lot better a job than you ever could even without my father's name in the mix."

He gave Remy a bit of a harder look.

""If you're tired, either slap your cheeks or ask your partner to punch you in the face to wake yourself up. If you're sore, man up. If you're sick, take the day off and tend to your body's needs. And if you're dead, walk it off." Those words are embroidered on a golden plaque in every police headquarters building in Johto, and I'll give you three guesses who's words those are." He said.

By this point Yume had had enough, and she gave his shirt another tug and forced herself to stand up without his help.

"That's enough Tomoya. We know how proud you are of your father's legacy and how you hate lazy behavior. Just give it a rest already." She said.

Tomoya gave her a glare, but she didn't fold.

"Look, I don't care for his behavior anymore than you do. But this isn't the time or place for it. All you have to do is go back to Goldenrod Police Headquarters and file a complaint against the officer. Given who your father is, your complaint will be rushed to the top of the list and, if found credible, an investigation into his behavior will be made by the appointed officer's psychiatrist. If found unfit for duty, he'll be let go. If he's fit for duty but needs a bit of disciplinary treatment, they'll be the ones to give it to him. It's not your place nor your duty to do so here, and you know it."

Tomoya took a deep breath and let it out on a sigh through his nose, finally nodding and looking away to one side.

Yume, meanwhile, bowed to the officers as best she could though she was still a bit unsteady and her legs a bit shaky.

"My apologies for my fiancé's behavior. He's very passionate about his father's legacy and about the behavior and image of the police force, as you just witnessed." She said apologetically.

She almost stumbled, but Tomoya caught her arm to steady her.

"Also, I apologize for my unsteadiness. My Charmander fought and killed a Paras by mistake when I just wanted him to defeat it, and I lost my lunch shortly afterwards. My body is still trying to adjust." She said.

She reached into her pocket and handed her Pokédex to the first officer, and Tomoya shortly after did the same.

Remington stayed silent, only just staring unimpressively at Tomoya with a

Robert commented slightly on Tomoya's unsteadiness before adding his own commentary on the situation.

" Well, that's the problem with most mon in this neck of the woods. Starter Mon usually trump Wild Mon by bounds. Anyway, let's get on with this."

Remington signed and then, took a moment to look up in the sky, deeply annoyed as shit.

" Oh, Arceus, why have you forsaken me? Of all of the drug-chasing, illegal pokemon handling and mugging I need today, I don't need a discliplinary report....."

Robert whistled over towards Abraham to bite Remington in the foot again before looking at his partner.

" Dude, stop your belly-aching. Mew, I swear you're more angry than a hungry Snorlax in the Relic Desert."

Robert then whistled towards Abraham to start sniffing for any illicit substances and then, apologized to the three trainers.

" Again, sorry. Standard safety procedures and all that. You wouldn't believe the amount of Tepig Shit Abraham can find nowadays in Johto. One block away and he can sniff out a guy who's been hoarding Oddish's, illegal potions or a illegal trainer's license...."

Abraham began sniffing around them, around the dirt, voraciosly stuffing his nose in their clothing before returning back to Robert and lifting a paw up and then, shoving it down onto the ground.

Nothing.

" Well, wouldya look at that. Clean. Well, can't say I didn't expect that. C'mon, let's get this done and over with..."

Robert then chuckled as he took the three Pokedex's in hand and then, flipped them open, looking at them interestingly before murmuring every so often as he looked at the information.

" Let's see here..... We got two new trainers. PKMN Trainer Yume and Tomoya Akabane. Looks like you two got your licenses off at Goldenrod. Figures. Goldenrod's the hotspot of Johto. Everyone goes there nowadays. And let's see, Mr Mcknight, Digi Comm guy. Meh, looks all clean to me."

He then gave back the three pokedexs before patting Remington's back and murmuring to him.

"C'mon, Remington. We're gonna go for one final loop before we switch out with Jenny and Joy. And I swear to god, if I hear you whining one more time, I'm going to the Commisionner's office to personally feed you to his Rhydon, got it?"

Remington snarked slightly before spitting out his cigar on the ground and stamping it with the heel of his boot.

" Whatever. C'mon, Ashton. Get it done and over with these civvies. It'll be a block before we find a guy trying to sneak a Abra into a casino centre."

Robert grumbled slightly as he looked back at Tomoya, Yume and Victor. He then raised a hand towards Tomoya to shake his.

" So, I think we got off on the wrong start. I'm Robert Ashton. This dick over here is Carl Remington and the name of my hound's Abraham. I've heard a lot about your father on the force. Hell, he inspired me to become a cop. Pleasure to meet you, Mr Akabane."

Tomoya and Yume waited quietly while the two police officers exchanged words and examined their Pokédex's. When they found them clean, they handed them back and Robert extended his hand to Tomoya with a fresh greeting.

Tomoya reached out and took his hand, giving it a firm shake.

"The pleasure's mine..." He said, closing his eyes and sighing.

"And I must apologize personally for my outburst. Like Yume said, I am very passionate about the work our law enforcement officers do and about their behavior, and even the tiniest things can set me off. I have my father to thank for that sense of perfectionism, even if I'm not on the force like he wanted me to be." He said, opening his eyes.

"Good luck, and stay safe you two." He said.

Yume nodded and gave a slight bow to wish them the same before resting against Tomoya again. Tomoya then turned to Victor.

"What about you? You heading back to Goldenrod? We may as well go too. With Yume unsteady on her feet like this and in need of replenishing her nutrition, I think it's not unwise to go back together. We're just far enough off the main road to still have a chance encounter with something large and dangerous, so how about we stick together until we get back?" He asked.

@Borkus Lazorus @Arael

" No sweat," said Robert as he ruffled his hair slightly while shaking Tomoya's hand. " Keep safe, you three. There's Rockets out and about now. You have to be a little bit safe 'round these parts now."

Robert then whistled for Abraham, a harsh sharp, high pitched screech that made Abraham stop in his tracks and start leading them out of Azalea Forest. Robert waved back towards Tomoya, Yume and Victor while nudging Remington slightly.

" Good bye, y'all. Remy, you got anything to say?"

Remington took out another cigar, preparing to light it as he walked away from Tomoya and Yume. He then made one more remark before stuffing his cigar in his mouth and chewing it.

" Make sure your girlfriend doesn't blow up a Ratata with that Starter of hers. I got enough calls about disturbances in the neighborhood...."

As soon as they were far away from the trio of trainers, Robert slapped Remington behind the head, knocking off his cap. Remington leaned downwards and brushed off his cap, murmuring out loud.

" Let me guess, you're annoyed with me, aren't you?"

Robert palmed his face before taking a look at Remington.

" Look, Remy. I'm trying to keep you out of trouble. You're better than that kid. You're better than that trainer. You're above this. So, why talk smack with that kid?"

Remington kept chewing out his cigar before shrugging his shoulders and moving on forward, in front of Robert. A sudden grab on his shoulder forced him backwards to look at Robert's stout look. He wasn't going to let him go until he had a answer. Shit. Remington spat out his cigar on the dirt before replying back to Robert.

" Shit, Rob. I've been working this damn job for 8 years now. 8 years now and this kid, thinking he's goddamned Lance, tells me that I should quit being your partner. Thinks he knows what's been between us these past 5 years now and what's happened at our station......Gosh and I thought I was the dickhead. "

Robert paused and then chuckled, punching him in the shoulder.

" You still are."

Remington laughed out loud a guturral laugh before reciprocating Robert's friendly gesture with a slap to the back.

" Yeah, I guess I am. But, that kid is just....God, fucking damn, I don't know why the trainer system exists nowadays. It's made things worst. Sure, Indigo! Let's go get 20 year olds and teenagers a literal weaponized animal and release them into the fo-"

Robert put two fingers on his nose and then, interrupted Remington's rant.

" Remy, you know that's not true. The kid's young. We're only about 4 more years than him. You're a Vet, Remy. You know better than to engage in a shit-fest with a trainer. Now' c'mon, accept your complaint letter and Command will throw in the trash. They have better time to waste than a officer who mulls on patrol. Hell, you've said to me better than the dipshit civvy, now act better than him. Now, let's go finish up the patrol and we can eat that Miltank Rib Loin you like so much at that fancy Johtonese restaurant down town."

Remington kept silent for the rest of the trip, as they cleared out of the forest into the sweet, smoky sounds of civilization and their patrol vehicle. They both entered the car before Remignton said one sentence.

" I'd like that."

Tomoya sighed as the officers left and looked back to Yume and Victor, but then looked back at the officers who were just barely out of sight. He then pulled out his cell phone and dialed in a speed dial number.

"Who are you calling?" Yume asked.

"Who do you think?"

She blinked a moment, and then looked surprised. But that look quickly was replaced by exasperation and she shook her head with a soft smile.

The other line rung a moment before being answered.

"Goldenrod Police Headquarters. Please state your emergency." Came a voice on the other end.

"Tomoya Akabane. I'd like to speak to the Chief please." He said.

"... One moment."

The line went quiet, and Tomoya remained still as he waited for the line to be picked up again. And at last it did.

"Chief Gonzo Sterling. What can I do for you young man? I hope you have a good reason for calling me directly."

"Nothing of the sort." Tomoya replied with a chuckle.

The Chief chuckled as well.

"Then we have nothing to talk about.

"Oh yes we do. It seems someone's been slacking off in their duties to maintain a respectful sense of discipline and dedication to the job. Or didn't you notice that many of your officers no longer behave as they're meant to in the field?"

"Oh come on kiddo. It's a demanding job and they have to deal with the worst kind of people you never even see on a daily basis. If they get grumpy on the job, cut them some slack."

"No. The way I look at it, there's a noticeable lack of professionalism in the force right now and if you can't do something about the men and women under your command then I'll need to give someone in my father's old contact list who's in a bit of a higher position a call instead."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. No need for threats now Akabane. I know your old man was the Chief before me, but calling above me? That's low, no pun intended. Look, every officer is different just like every Trainer is different. Some of them handle their jobs without protest no matter how they feel, while others among them are a bit more verbal or physical with how they cope with the stress. But that's all it is. Stress. Now why don't you drop this and just submit a complaint like a normal civilian?"

"Because my father raised me with the expectation of becoming the Chief in his place someday and upholding the same kind of discipline, respect, and dedication our officers had for their duties as when he was in charge. I may not have chosen to pursue the career, but that doesn't mean that I'm not in a position to do something about it. I don't have to write a complaint about the officers who have caught my attention over the last couple of years. That won't solve anything. I just need one well written complaint about you as acting Chief. One phone call to a certain someone I'm sure you're familiar with and the complaint goes right over your head to a group of people who will do something about the lack of discipline on the force, starting with you."

"All right, all right already. You made your point. No need to get her involved here. Look. Tell me who caught your attention and I'll see to it that they receive proper disciplinary action."

"I told you, that won't solve anything. If I'm going to weed out the problem, it starts with you. See you soon Chief."

"Look Akaba-"

He hung up the phone and put it away, and Yume shook her head again.

"Oh Tomoya... Why can't you just let it go? The officer was stressed out and just wanting to go home at the end of a long day. It's not so different from the stress we were under when graduating college on our accelerated programs, remember?" She asked somewhat sadly.

"This is worlds apart from that Yume. This is our law enforcement force, not a few college level final exams or research papers. If we can't trust or respect our law enforcement officers to do their jobs without whining like children, then why do we tolerate them wearing those badges? Our tax dollars are paying them to protect and serve, not whine and complain because they have to deal with a few assholes while on the job. They were informed of all the risks and hardships that came with the job when they received their training before they even earned the right to wear the badge, so there's no excuse whatsoever for this kind of behavior. None! If they're only able to get through training, but whine and complain when they're in the field, then they don't belong there. And it all starts with the Chief."

"You're not the Chief Tomoya" She said.

"No, but my father was. And don't forget, he encouraged me to do whatever I could to help keep myself and those around me safe from threats whether I was a policeman or not. A lazy Chief means a lazy police force, and that is, in and of itself, a threat, and one which I will not stand for. Thanks to my family name and father's contact list, I can make a few simple phone calls to get Chief Sterling either in trouble or fired outright and replaced with someone who will do their job more efficiently and thus make sure the other officers under their charge do their jobs more efficiently. When our entire police force is disciplined and fit for duty, we are all much safer. When they whine and complain about a few assholes or being tired after a long day, we're not safe at all."

Yume sighed, shaking her head in defeat.

"Fine Tomoya. Do what you want. But you're not going to make any friends out of our force if they know you got their Chief in trouble or fired for something like this."

Tomoya shrugged.

"Not my problem."

"Not yet, but it will be."

"By that you mean..."

"Think about your father's legacy for a moment."

"That's what I'm doing."

"No you're not, Tomoya. You're thinking about his martial arts legacy and your upbringing. His legacy as an officer was one of respect and loyalty to his men while he served as Chief. It's why he was an inspiration to younger officers like Robert. He was strict in his duties as Chief, but he was loyal, honest, and trustworthy as well. He never threatened them. He never told them they weren't good enough or didn't belong on the force because of a few bad days. He never sent them on jobs he didn't know they were ready for. And he never would have dreamed of using his connections to overrule his own authority and get someone higher to do a job he can't out of spite and anger."

"..."

Yume came forward and gently held his hand.

"Just let it go Tomoya. Please. It's not worth getting this upset over one officer having a bad day and saying a few rude words. You don't know his record, and you don't know what he's like on a good day. Just let him go his way and you focus on going your way. Enough is enough."

Tomoya took a deep breath and let it out on a hiss through his teeth to slow his heart rate, as it was rising with his anger this whole time but he didn't notice until now.

"Fine."

Yume smiled and leaned up to kiss his cheek.

"Besides, you have more important things to worry about like getting your still sick-to-her-stomach fiancé back to Goldenrod so she can get something to eat, drink, and some rest."

He closed his eyes and smiled.

"Fair enough. But if I see that Remington guy again and if he behaves the same way as today, I'm not going to let anything stop me, you included, from getting his sorry backside canned."

"Fine. But for now, let's go... We've been kind of ignoring poor Victor over there you know, and you offered to go back to Goldenrod with him."

Tomoya glanced back to Victor and chuckled.

"Sorry about all of that." He said.

" Damn, that was fucking good. That was really fucking good."

Robert rolled his eyes at Remington's antics amusingly as they ate out at one of his favourite Johtonese restaurants in Goldenrod. Sure, it wasn't swanky or stylish but it was minimalist which was what Robert respected. Robert took a bite out of his grilled Magikarp, chewing the firm yet yielding flesh as he waved his fork daintily, noticing the other patrons around the joint. They'd come here after patrol, Remington receiving a slight earful from the Chief in front of all the cadets, not taking notice of his senior's slight embarassment. Abraham was being treated to a pokemon takeout feast somewhere in the back of the restuarant. He'd ordered about half a Tauros for the big boy. Hell, in the next few years, once he had enough bulk, maybe he cou-

" Hey, Ashton, you with me here?"

Robert looked back towards his friend and then, leaned back into his chair before nodding for Remington to continue. Remington leaned his cheek on one of his fists, looking at Robert for a second before signing.

" Still can't believe you bailed me out to the Chief."

Robert took another bite of his meal before shrugging his shoulders.

" Well, it was either that or let it become a ticking time-bomb. Besides, you could have costed the entire station and replaced it with something worst. The Chief had every right to be angry with you. "

Remington signed before wiping his mouth with a napkin and then, snarking sarcastically.

" I think the best thing to do is to never get in a 10 klick radius of that Tomoya kid. Kid with that ideology and that much power along with the fact he's triggered easily? We're gonna be hearing a lot of reports about this bastard. Believe me."

Robert snorted and continued to cut up his Magikarp, sucking on the sweet, succulent flesh before murmuring.

" Think you just have a grudge against the kid. Don't worry. What's the next chance of you encountering him in the first place?"

Remington turned slowly towards him as if he had uttered a omen.

" I hope it's about the same chance as you trying to ask Tabitha out on a date."

Robert then shut up and kept quiet, finishing off his meal while Abraham bounded over and barked at rapt attention. Ah, he must have been- Two times. Shit. Something was going on. Remington recognised it too as he called for the bill. Didn't want to raise any attraction. Robert, Remington and Abraham walked out of the restaurant until they were exposed to the dingy streets of Goldenrod, walking into a nearby alley. Robert leaned downwards towards Abraham, Remington keeping a eye out.

" Who do you smell?"

Abraham pawed the dirt, scratching out a R. Fucking. Shit.

" You sure?"

Abraham snorted slightly. Robert looked back at Remington before leaning against the brick wall. A moment passed before Robert heeded his senior for advice.

" So, what now?"

Remington pursed his lips for a moment, scratching his recently shaven face before taking out a match and scratching it against the wall. It burst in a flower of light before Remington lifted up towards a cigar, huffing in the fumes before replying.

" We do this smart and by the book. We're calling for back-up straight away. Words got around that they stolen fresh shipments of high-tier pokemon including dratinis, beldum, goodras and bagons. I would expect half of those to be in their second evolved form. Administrators would have access to Dragonites or hell, a Metagross, that's scary. That's not even taking into account the usual fodder most of their mooks have including Ekans, Zubat and Ratatas. You still left our patrol vehicle in the back, right?"

Robert looked at him as if it was obvious.

" Well, of cour-"

Remington flicked his cigar towards him, interrupting his thoughts and looked outside of the alley.

" Good. We'll radio in for all avaliable back-up. We need the Chief's mon on this. He's got serious firepower with that Ursaring and Rhydon of his. We'll ask for a SWAT operation. Non-lethals."

Robert bristled slightly at the mention of 'non-lethals' which Remington noticed easily as a dead Kecleon.

" I know you want to kill them, Robbie, but we have to do this by the book. The more alive we have in custody, the more we can learn about their tactics, bases, organisation. Information is the key to the success of the Goldenrod Department. Understand?"

Remington and Robert still stared at each other as Remington gathered another cigar from his coat-pockets, lighting it again.

" I said, do you-"

Robert replied quickly as he scratched the back of Abraham's ear.

" Yes."

Remington stood still before flicking another 5 months of his life into the nearest bin. He then breathed out smoke before signalling Robbie

" Good. Now, let's make some Rockets blast off again."

Victor was off in his own world as he took out his cell phone and began to type out a small memo, that way he wouldn't forget to put out a small article on the stations website when he got the chance.

he lazily grabbed his pokedex from the officer and gave a silent nod before turning his focus back to growlithe who was preoccupied with the larger pokémon, obviously in awe as well as eager to reach that level of strength whenever the time came.

"Thank you officers." He gave a silent bid as he watched the trio walk off.

leaving him and the other couple standing on the dirt path. He knelt downand began to slowly pet Growlithe who at first resisted but slowly accepted the affection from his Trainer. His tail swaying quickly as the male scratched behind his ear while Tomoya made a phone call that could've been viewed as blackmail to the chief of police, and began telling him off about his officers and the lack of...motivation in their work lately.

The woman Yume, was rather against Tomoya and began trying to defuse the situation and calm him down but to no prevail. The male continued on about his father's legacy and how he would still utilize his teachings to better the police force, or get a new chief who was better at doing his job. It was commendable but at the least a bit extreme in Victors eyes, but it was all cut short when Yume finally got through to him and calmed him down before they both turned to look over at him, remembering the plan from before.

"No need for apologies, I can understand your anger..my father was apart of Blackthorn's police force, while I'm not sure if they have the same code of conduct but it is rather unacceptable behavior and should be dealt with accordingly."

He shook his head before rising to his full height again, leaving a disappointed Growlithe standing at his side.

"But all in due time right? For now let's all focus on getting back to Goldenrod, this feels like enough excitement for one day and I've gotta get to a Pokémon Center before it gets too late."

Victor gave them both a small smile before walking back down the path to Goldenrod with Growlithe walking along beside him.

@ChoShadow

Tomoya nodded.

"All right. Then we head North."

Yume held Tomoya's arm as they walked, and it was a long walk which wasn't good for her in her condition. By the time they were 2 hours in, she was more steady on her feet but her stomach was still feeling empty and her throat was a bit raw. Another full hour later, 3 hours in total, and they reached the entrance to the forest without a hitch.

As they exited, Tomoya and Yume bid Victor farewell, as they needed to go get her a good meal and Victor needed to visit a Center for his Growlithe. They both gave him a light bow and went on their way down the main street until they found a convenient little restaurant where they asked to eat outside. Once they sat down, they spoke for a while about Tomoya's attitude towards the cop and how easily upset he became over it.

Tomoya didn't exactly enjoy the conversation, but he agreed he had been far too rash in his verbal attacks and should check himself in the future. After all, Yume was right. His father's legacy as a police officer and Chief was one of respect, loyalty, and honesty. Not using your authority or connections to get your way.

Tomoya promised not to go off like that again if he could help it, but asked that Yume be there to jump at him if he started. Tomoya found it very difficult to control himself when it came to poor behavior on the part of law enforcement, so he needed someone to help him keep himself restrained.

After their meal, it was starting to get late in the evening so they went to the Pokémon Center and stopped by the Trainer Rest Area to put themselves up for the night. They both needed a good night's sleep.

@Arael @Borkus Lazorus

Victor nodded as the small group walked quietly through the forest, it took a total of 3 hours just to get to the exit and by this time Growlithe was showing signs of being worn out which resulted in Victor returning the small canine yo its pokeball as they all went their separate ways, giving the couple a small bow before heading back towards the Pokémon Center.

once he arrived he was greeted warmly by the nurse, who then took both Deerling and Growlithes pokeballs into the back room for medical care. Returning 30 minutes later with a small report on their conditions.

"Well your Growlithe seems to be in good condition just a few bruises from battle, your Deerling on the other hand has a simple fracture in its left hind leg, along with a few bruises..it'll take a few weeks to fully heal but I wouldn't encourage any rash training. Other than that they're both very healthy, was there anything else you needed, Mr.White?"

Victor nodded silently, he figured that'd be the case with Deerling especially with everything he went through to catch it.

"No..that'll be all for now, I'll be back in the morning for Growlithe. I'll let Deerling take a bit more time off unless keeping it on me was an option?"

The nurse paused before thinking and tapping at her clip board a bit.

"Well it isn't recommend but it's also not unheard of, what I can do is give you Deerlings pokeball but I wouldn't advise battling unless you wanna risk her condition becoming worse..it's a slow advised you allow her out to stretch or she'll lose strength in her leg, it's important you help through the recovery process. We don't want her becoming lazy."

Victor nodded silently before signing a form for Deerling's early release. They'd only get better as a team if there was trust and he didn't see leaving her here as a good start, it was a stretch but maybe she'd accept him or grow to hate him..but it was a rIsk that he was willing to take.

After everything was all said and done, Victor headed back to his apartment for the night. Trying to figure out his next move with only Growlithe being an active member on his roster for now and he was still warming up to Victor. He sighed, pushing the thoughts out of his head before drifting off to sleep.

" Are you screwing with me right now, Chief? 2 hours? 2 hours?!"

Robert was watching the alleyway, noticing two Rockets that were outside in their drab uniforms, a crimson red blocky R on their black coats with full high blazers, guarding a doorway. Looked like a bunch of fashion-retarded hipsters but who was he to judge a guy who had either ten tonnes of snake strapped to his pocket or a furry mouse that could munch through concrete? Remington, meanwhile, was talking to the Chief, having a bitch-fit with him on the phone.

" Look, Remington. I've got other units on patrol right now. I can't call for a SWAT team right now due to the lack of resources. Our officers are spread thin. Sorry, Remington. You're on your own for-"

Remington nearly crushed the phone, looking as if he wanted to reach through the receiver and choke the Chief through the other side before signing and murmuring.

" Yes, sir."

Remington clipped the phone to his pocket before looking into the alleyway, perched over Robert's crouched position, readying his taser.

" How many?"

Robert lifted two fingers into the air before pointing towards a red-haired Rocket and then himself. He then pointed towards Remington and then, a black-haired Rocket with sunglasses on (WHO WEARS SUNGLASSES AT NIGHT?). Standard morse code for tag-teaming. Remington had it in a instant as he took out his Poke-ball and slowly rolled it down the alley-way towards the black-haired Rocket, setting the countdown- release timer for 10 seconds. The red-haired Rocket motioned his gloved hands over towards his partner to check it out as he picked up the ball. He then releaised his mistake as the ball exploded in a burst of poke-power to reveal a clanking mass of magnet and metal. Remington's magnemite immedietely Thundershocked the Rocket, causing the Rocket to froth and be knocked out before he hit the ground.

The Red-Haired Rocket raised a radio to his cheeks in alarm before a harsh sharp command of 'TAKE DOWN' reached his ears as a large hound bowled him over onto his back, knocking the radio out of his hands and crushing it with its paw. He then felt the damn thing headbutt him and saw stars as he went into the world of dreamless nights.

Robert and Remington went inside the alley in a hurry, quickly undressing the Rockets and wearing their tacky uniforms while dumping them in the dumpster.

" Who the goddamned hell wears sash belts these days? Is it Halloween right now? "

Robert quieted Remington's whining as he put on the classic beret.

" Quiet. At least, it ain't a bandana or a knight costume."

CONTINUATION OF POST ABOVE

" Hey, Mayflower, Weatherbell? What the hell are you two doing here. Thought you were supposed to be guarding outside the base?"

Remington's hand was only a miniscule fraction of a centimeter away from the keypad as a oily, haired grunt spotted them in the hallway. Robert covered him by acting nonchalantly and putitng a arm on the wall to support him.

" Uh, Boss wants us inside. He's got another two outside. Wants us to.....ummmmm....check on the product. Quality Checking, ya know?"

The grunt froze for a second before shrugging his shoulders and shaking his head, before pointing towards Remington and Robert.

" Just make sure to check around the base. We don't want any spooks getting into our little operation in Goldenrod. And remember, steal pokemon for profit, exploit pokemon for profit and...."

Robert spat the words out, even though, it felt like trying to gurgle a Muk inside his mouth.

" all pokemon exist for the glory of Team Rocket. Don't worry, man. No spooks are going to get in here while we're around. Ain't that right, Weatherbell?"

Remington shuddered slightly as he murmured boredly to Robert's statement.

" Yep. No spooks here...."

The grunt chuckled and moved on before Robert turned his head so sharply, you could have heard his spine snap, and glared at Remington.

" We can't keep doing this forever."

Remington then opened the gate to the giant room before entering inside the dark room and dragging Robert by the arm.

" Hopefully, we won't. We're here as recon and we have a giant oppurtunity on our hands. We're one of the only cops in Johto to ever be inside a hideout of this scale. And if my suspicions are correct, there's a terminal here somewhere....."

Remington fumbled around for a switch for a while before he felt something that had the features of a remote. He pressed a button. Suddenly, one by one, large flourescent lights slowly flickered and were turned on one by one, illuminating a sight which dumbfounded Robert and Remington.

" Holy Shit...."

It was a giant mosh-pit of captured mon. Dratinis stuck inside titanium-reinforced cages. Beldums forcibly magnetized together. A huddle of dirty Ratatas and Raticates inside a steel-link fenced cage. Arboks. Koffings.Eevees. Pikachus.  Common mon and rare mon alike were captured inside and then, some. Robert and his partner couldn't comprehend the scale of pokemon cruelty and illegal pokemon trafficking laws that were being broken here. Remington then shook out of his stupor before he spotted a terminal.

"Jackpot"

He slid over towards it and began typing into it.

" Alright. Just need to insert a USB and copy-paste all this infor-"

He then felt Robert clasp his shoulder and point towards all the mon. Remington rolled his eyes. Not this shit again....

" We need to get them out of there. This isn't ri-"

Remington then grabbed Robert by the shouders and then, put his partner on eye-level with him, staring directly into his soul before speaking.

" Look. If you wanna play Society for the Protection of all Pokemon, this isn't the time. If we release those mon, there would be pandemonium on the streets. We don't have any way to transport these mon yet. We don't want every Rocket Personnel in this base on our asses and even if we tried, I bet the Rockets have enough poke-balls here to catch them all again. Our main priority now is getting information. Information is key in this war, Robert. Aight?"

Robert paused for a while before grumbling and pushing himself away from Remington. Remington then took that as a 'yes' before continuing with his work.

" Alright. Should take about 30 minutes for this data to upload to the drives-"

" 30 MINUTES?"

Remington then shouted at Robert as he pointed towards the screen, his fists clenched in frustration.

" I'm trying my fucking best here! Our station doesn't have Porygonic TECHNOLOGY! How the fuck am I suppose to download the data of a supercomputer with a USB Stick in one second?"

Robert relented his anger slightly as Remington signed and wiped his brow.

" Let's just hope no one comes in he-"

Then, if the universe was laughing on their poor souls, a Rocket shmuck entered the room at the moment, the door hissing as he entered with a cup of coffee in his hands, a dour attitude on his face and his feet dragging on the floor.

" Hey, guys. What's u-"

He then froze as he saw Robert and Remington clearly uploading data to what appeared to be a library's worth of USB Stick's. He then dropped his coffee jar and immedietely went for his radio just as Remington released his Magnemite, front and centre, ready to tase him.

" I REPEAT, CODE RED, INTRUDER-"

The grunt never finished his sentence as the Magnemite shocked him, causing him to convulse in pain and faint from the sheer electricity flowing through his body. Robert hastily went for the radio and tried to recitify the situation.

" Sorry, sir. Just a mist-"

The entire base then went red as the klaxons began blaring and the atmosphere of the room became a gloomy red. All of the pokemon began to go in a fritz while Remington swore a litany of swear words as he unplugged all the USBs out of the drive.

" SHIT. SHITTY. MOTHERFUCKING. SON OF A KAGHASKAN WHORE. BULLSHIT MUK CUM FAT ASS LICK MY GODDAMNED SON OF A EFFING-"

Robert then closed his mouth before shouting towards him.

" What do we do now?!"

Remington then sputtered and looked at Robert as if he was unreal.

" WHAT AM I? PROFESSOR OAK? HOW THE HELL ARE WE SUPPOSED TO GET OUT OF-"

Robert then looked at the computer before he went towards it and pressed several buttons. Remington looked at him in confusion for a second before realizing in horror the true consequences of his actions and stopping him from typing further.

" YOU'RE GONNA RELEASE ALL THE DAMN-"

" THAT'S THE POINT!"

" THIS AIN'T A FUCKING MOVIE, ROB!"

" WELL, YOU DON'T SEE ME-"

" FUCK YOU!"

" FUCK YOU, OLD MA-"

" Alright, I think we've had enough fun here. Put your hands up in the air where I can see them before I get my Arbok to squeeze you two apart like Pecha Jelly."

Robert and Remington then froze as they turned around to meet the administrator of the base. Dressed in hideously expensive clothing and with a peppery-grey hair, several guards armed with assault rifles and crossbows pointed their armanents at the two cops as the administrator looked at them unimpressed and chuckled slightly.

" Well, am I unimpress-"

" Uh, sir. You might wanna take a look to your left."

The administrator then looked to his left and then, his face contorted in shock and pure fury as a stampede of pure mon came rushing towards them, filled with exhilration of being freed from their confinements. Robert chose this moment to give a meaty, right hook to the adminstrator's face, knocking him flat onto the ground and then, push past the guards, Remington following in lieu as the adminstrator slowly rubbed his jaw and pointed towards the two cops that were running away.

" AFTER TH- FUUUCCCKKK!"

The administrator and his team of highly trained Rocket guards were being slowly trampled and swarmed by the large dense, group of mon as Robert and Remington made their way out of the base as the mon began to tear it apart from the inside out. Robert and Remington then quickly went inside their patrol vehicle as bullets began to rang off the boot of their behicle, the front window shattering before Robert shouted out loud towards Remington.

" Book it ! Fucking book it!"

Remington pressed the pedal as the wheels of the car smoked before they zoomed off into the night, the base behind them erupting and exploding as tons of superpowered, wild creatures ripped the infrastructure to shreds.

Tomoya and Yume were asleep at the Poké Rest when all of this was going down. Nothing stirred them in their rest until Tomoya was awakened by the faint feeling of a vibration in the ground. He awoke and slowly sat upright, with Yume stirring and grabbing hold of his shirt and waist and cuddling closer, still asleep, to keep warm. Tomoya listened carefully, but couldn't hear anything. The vibration had stopped almost as soon as it started, making him wonder if he was just dreaming it all up.

However, a moment later he could hear something happening in the distance. The sound of something rumbling was the first to arrive, and he gently shook Yume awake and she sat up next to him asking what was going on.

He silenced her and told her to listen, and she too picked up on the sound of rumbling in the distance.

It didn't take long for that rumbling to become something worse. Screams began to accompany it, and the rumbling grew louder and louder as well as a new shaking of the ground.

They both hopped out of bed immediately and went to the window to see what was going on and saw a massive stampede of Pokémon racing through the streets.

"What in the world?!" Yume yelled.

"I don't know." Tomoya said rather calmly despite his obvious surprise at the sight outside the window.

"What should we do?"

"Stay in here until the stampede starts receding. Once the herd thins, we can go check it out. Right now though it's safest to stay indoors until all of those Pokémon calm down and begin to go their separate ways."

"Okay..."

Yume didn't like it, but she knew Tomoya was right. They only had two young Pokémon who wouldn't even be able to dream of wrangling a group of Pokémon even one tenth the size of the stampede outside. They would only get in the way if they went outside at this moment. They'd have to wait.
