Anime & Manga I really love the hardcore fight anime/manga

Nenma Takashi

Terribly Terrible
Like Baki the Grappler, Hajime no Ippo, Holyland. Fights were it's less "woah these guys are badass!" and more "woah that must of really hurt!" Like I know for a fact I go "OH!" Every time I watch Ippo fight Mashiba and he does that elbow block. The sound man THE SOUND!

Hunter x Hunter had some of that.
But yeah, that means the makers of the anime did a really good job with the visuals and the sound effects if you cringe and look away when someone gets hurt in a fight.

I also love it when it's clear the writer knows what they are talking about. Like in holyland there are moments were the author will explain something and it's clearly got research behind it.

I think One Piece has some of those moments. Zoro literally takes life-ending pain in one of the episodes (the one with Kuma).

Luffy's fights are almost always brawls. He's probably my favorite character when I'm itching for a fight.

Not really an anime (but pretty close in terms of Western animation), but I think Samurai Jack (particularly the last season) does this really well. In one episode, the main character gets really screwed up in a fight, and spends half of the next episode just trying to recover. There's a scene where he's trying to pull a knife out of it, and the sound is absolutely painful to listen to.

Here's the scene.

I know what you mean, both Hajime no Ippo and Baki the Grappler do an amazing job reflecting how vicious an attack was and the damage someone takes, not a lot of animes with that sort of style in combat either.

hmm on manga department there osu! karate-bu it is an old manga that is recently being translated but be warned its ethics are also old.
There is Crows and Worst both are actually delinquent manga but fights are interesting and kind of realistic

I'm trying to think of a good anime with good fight scenes, and I swear there's some I've watched but I can't remember. Hunter x Hunter was reaaalll good though. Ah. Tokyo Ghoul has good fight scenes as well.

I loved the animation and sound effects in the fight scenes from the anime: Birdy the Mighty. You can almost feel the weight in some of the actions.
