Debacle
Writer of Words, Maker of Things
I ask for so little. Just fear me, love me, do as I say, and I will be your slave.

I’m looking for ‘The One’. That partner I just click with. Amazingly, we like the same sort of stories. We both love fantasy and adventure and heartache and witty dialogue. We both think a roleplay is most fun when there’s tension in every. Single. Damn. Post. We both love creating characters who are believable even when they’re like no one we’ve ever met; who are compelling and complicated, yet there’s a consistent reasoning to the things they do and say; who might be so deeply flawed they seem unsalvageable at first, but oh, just wait and see. I’m looking for a partner who thinks a character's motivation is a key part of plot, and without it, you’ve really just got a setting. Who knows it’s not about word-count, it’s about substance, god-damnit, and you left that one-liner that one time, but it was profound, and I pondered it for days.
Where are you?
Let’s write a story. I don’t know what it’s about yet. Maybe you don’t either, but we’ll bounce ideas off one another till there’s a spark, and then there’s a fire, and it’s burning us down unless we write it.

*There are some fantastic young roleplayers on this site, but I'd prefer partners that are at least in their twenties. I am 32.
*Regarding post length: my replies average 3 to 6 paragraphs, with few that are less and a fair amount that are more. I will always give something to respond to and ask for the same. No need for a wall of text every reply; just keep the story going.
*I'm looking for a partner who will truly collaborate and work with me on actively progressing the story.
*Please be able to reply, on average, at least a couple of times a week. I can reply at least once most days.
*I'm not interested in doubling, but I will happily write a male or female character. It's a pet peeve of mine when I see roleplayers say that they will only write female main characters, so if that's you, we may not be a good match.
*Open to MxF or FxF.
*Life happens. If you disappear out of the blue and then reappear a month later, I certainly will not hold it against you.
*Author's note: Below you may see "he" and "she" in plot summaries. These can generally be switched and are not limited to mxf pairings.
Medieval Post-Apocalypse
The plague has killed almost everyone. Only one in a thousand miraculously survive. A once thriving city is now a desolate landscape of decaying bodies. Those who survive may think they are the only one left until they find another survivor. Decisions must be made: stay in this city of death and disease, or venture out into a world that has no doubt become an even more dangerous place.
Sci-fi
In an idyllic futuristic society, finding love is a science. Some still choose to date and find their spouse the old fashioned way, but more and more, people are letting computers decide who their best partner would be, and they skip right to the wedding. One such couple has just said their vows and set off on their honeymoon, only to discover that maybe there was a mistake. Two people could not be less alike, and mutual animosity quickly sets in.
I have visions of this possibly involving their plane crashing or cruise ship sinking and them ending up on a deserted island, but this could go in a totally different direction, obviously, and I'm open to that. Maybe we'll decide he's actually a hit man, or a natural disaster strikes the city, or one of them gambles all their money away and they wind up on the street. I dunno.
Fandom -- Harry Potter
I'm not usually a fandom roleplayer, but every once in a while I get that Harry Potter itch. The world is just too much fun to play in. I don't have a plot in mind, or much direction really. I'd love to find a partner that also loves the world and come up with a great plot together. I'm open to playing Draco Malfoy opposite canon or original characters, but I'd also be very happy to play original characters, or write in an alternate universe where the events of Harry Potter either didn't occur or occurred differently. I really love them being in Hogwarts but prefer not writing kids, so this would probably be something around the concept of 8th year.

Fantasy -- CLOSED
She found him injured, broken, bleeding out. At the time, saving his life seemed like the right thing to do. The only thing to do, really. He was injured, after all, and she was there and she could help, so she did. And he was grateful. So very grateful.
So very grateful that he took her back with him to his world, a world she didn’t even know existed. A world where he was king. A demon king.
After awakening in a strange bed, she finds that the man she saved isn’t who she thought. He’s dangerous and cruel, cunning and perhaps a little mad. And he’s decided she’ll be his queen.
Steampunk Victorian-esque
He was the most celebrated inventor of their time--the creator of the airship. It changed Europe forever, bringing him both fame and fortune. But he didn't handle the pressure well, and after a few years has blown through much of his wealth, living as a social recluse in his London flat, drinking far too much.
Fortunately, his very kind best friend has decided he will no longer stand around and watch the once brilliant inventor drink himself to death. He has put out an ad for a housekeeper--a very particular kind of housekeeper. He wants to find a woman who can not only clean up the inventor's filthy flat, but who can also clean up the inventor himself. And maybe, just maybe, she could act as his muse, drawing him back into society.
I'm looking for someone to play the housekeeper. This could also be very cute as MxM.
The Borrowers
The Borrowers live unbeknownst the humans, small enough to hide in the grass, careful not to be seen. They make their villages in the backyards of human families, or sometimes even under the floorboards, 'borrowing' what they need from their humans to survive in the giant world around them.
Character A is a Borrower in the village of Mamber Puddle (which resides in the backyard of character B). Character B is the human who has just awoken injured in an unfamiliar world that seems entirely too large. Blades of grass are taller than they are, the birds are big enough to carry them off, and the cat prowling around could very well eat them. Character B has no idea how they got where they are or how they got to be this way. When Character A finds Character B, they instantly recognize the human they've carefully hidden from all their life--but now the human has somehow become Borrower-size. The two, along with the help of the rest of the residents of Mamber Puddle, must unravel the mystery and help Character B return to their former life--if they can.
Modern Romance/Not Love at First Sight
He is a lead journalist at a respected online newspaper. He knows that when the editor retires in a few months, his foot is in the door. Until she arrives, a promising new journalist who everyone seems to love--everyone but him. What’s worse, his performance might be about to tank, because he’s just gotten a diagnosis he doesn’t dare admit to anyone for a plethora of reasons--breast cancer. But when he goes to the hospital for his first round of chemo, who does he find in the bed next to him? The new journalist, who’s recently been given the same diagnosis. Though rivals, they agree to keep each other’s secret and somehow get through treatment together--if they don’t kill each other first.
Fantasy
Cursed. One day he was just an ordinary young man... the next, his touch brought death. He's unable to touch another person without killing them almost instantly. His family is dead and he's been exiled from his home. The only option left to him was to embrace the curse and use it. The years hardened him, making him cold and cruel. His work as an assassin let him fill the void in his heart with riches.
One day, he was sent to kill her. But when he touches her, she doesn't die. Instead of killing her, as he was ordered to do, he steals her away.
This idea is, admittedly, a bit cliche. I know, I know. It needs... something. If you're interested in it, help me brainstorm, please. I'm open to either role, and this could be MxM, MxF, or FxF. Time period is also very open. This doesn't have to be medieval fantasy.
Retelling--Beauty and the Beast
Time period: modern, near future, or AU
An eccentric but wealthy scientist works in his laboratory located deep, deep in the woods, far from civilization. When one of his experiments goes wrong, he is left looking more animal than man. He shuts himself off from society, searching for a way to undo his mistake.
Her plane crashes, and she is the lone survivor. She wakes in a strange, sterile lab, but knows this is no regular hospital. Her rescuer appears--grotesque, horrifying. It's the middle of winter and there's no way to make it back to civilization. She is trapped with the half-man, half-beast until spring.
This idea is very rough, but I'd love to collaborate on it with the right partner.
