Realistic or Modern Hunting the Shadows

Are you ever walking down the street at night and you see something out of the corner of your eye? It looked like a person, but you're not sure. You just say you're seeing things and keep going, but it happens again, followed by some chatter. Now you know it's not just your eyes, something is actually there. Little did you know that that "something" was a someone. Though they've been around for a long time, no one has really put the effort into seeing what they are. Most are either too scared of the dark or just don't want to know. Over time they've become known as the Shadow People. No real description of them has come to the surface, only adding mystery to the Shadow People. Skeptics say it's nothing, people on the verge of believing think about looking into them, believers are searching for them.

My question is: Do you believe in the Shadow People?

Ok, so the gist is that you'll be playing as a group of friends (it's up to you how much they believe in the Shadow People) in New York City. I will also need a couple people to play a Shadow Person (keep in mind you'll be restricted to one character). Those who wish to play as a Shadow Person must PM me. I want semi-detailed people capable of typing a paragraph (7sentences) or more per post. Ask any questions you have below.

I maaaay be in. I like your rp's but I need to know a little bit more about the relationship between the characters and shadow people before coming into this.

Are they evil? Misunderstood? Amoral?

What is standing in the characters' way?
Is the government or some sort of cultic/secret society interested in the shadow people and, by extension the characters?

Sorry if this sounds critical, it's not meant to. But, I need to know what I'm getting into.

I'm actually glad you asked that. Ok, they are none of them. Sure, some people blame them for some disasters and such, but it's really up to someone's opinion if they are evil or good. Secondly, nothing is really standing in the characters way. It's just getting past the fear of the unknown or getting the motivation to actually go look for something that may not be real. Finally, it's not really known if the government is interested in them, but there are "cults" and some groups out there that have been made. You can feel free to make your own little group that your character may be in.
