Realistic or Modern Hunters (M x F)

Roleplay Type(s)
This is a supernatural opera about a pair of hunters of the supernatural. It is VERY loosely based on the TV series Supernatural and The Originals, movies like Interview With a Vampire, and some old rpg settings. However, I plan to emulate the first season, not all the stuff that happens after all hell breaks loose. In other words, we aren’t going to have angels, demons, leviathans, etc running amuck. Rather I want to stick to smaller stuff. However, I plan to give vampires and werewolves a place in the RP that fills the role that Angels and Demons fill in Supernatural. Vampires and Werewolves will sort of police themselves.

Vampires
Vampires (Kindred) will be of the Anne Rice variety (Interview With a Vampire). For those who have every played the old rpg Vampire: The Masquerade, you will have an idea where I will be coming from. The 1st generation (Alpha) would be Cain - and will not be appearing. The newest generations are 13th to 15th. Most vampires are 13th to 8th. 6th and 7th are pretty much Princes of major cities. Vampires will be subdivided into 2 main groups - Camarilla (old world - bloodline oriented and organized) and Sabbat (rebels - run in packs like gangs). There will be some other categories.

Unlike the vampires in Supernatural Kindred do not infect with a single bite. Silver has no effect. A stake through the heart does not kill them. It takes sunlight or fire. Some older, more powerful vampires can withstand the sun. Killing a vampire does NOT destroy all the vampires he created; nor does it cure them. New vampires are not ungodly powerful. True they are more powerful than the average mortal, but takes time to learn disciplines.

Vampires have servants called Ghouls. Hunters sometimes call these Igors. Ghouls are totally loyal to their master.

Werewolves
Werewolves (called Garou) - are servants of Gaia. They use shamanistic magic (rituals and gifts) and seek to cleanse the Earth. As such they are at direct odds with most Vampires. They live in packs and are territorial much like wolves. Unlike vampires they cannot infect someone with a bite. One is either born a garou or not.

Users of Magic
Witches will out there. (These may or may not be wiccan.) Some are good; some evil. Some just want to be left alone. There will be others types of magic user - mostly solitary. Alchemists, artificers, astrologers. Psychics often get rounded up into this catch all.

Other monsters
Monster
This site will give an idea of the abilities and weaknesses of other creatures. For obvious reasons I plan to avoid Alphas and such. Ignore the stuff about werewolves and vampires. Some of the monsters listed are OP, like the shtriga. I may also add some limitations to some - such as the Skinwalkers. I am thinking of removing their ability to infect by a simple bite.

Ghosts and Ghouls will be two of the most common monsters hunted.

Characters
We will have three types of characters for this RP. Your main character should be a Hunter. Ideally the some Sages and Contacts should be shared by other members of the group. (Like Bobby in Supernatural.)

Hunters - This is most of the group. Each hunter should be unique, having an origin, style, training (type and source). You should have Contacts, Family (if any), etc.

Sages - These are the equivalents to Men of Letters. They don’t hunt, but may serve as a Contact. Bobby would have made a good Sage.

Contacts - These are non-hunter mundanes such as cops, doctors, etc that help out with information or services. Most have had their lives saved, etc.

Innocent Blood
I also plan to have an NPC group of vampires as standard Contacts. They are an Enforcer group that works to keep the peace between the Camarilla and Sabbat. They are a pack of Elders and antediluvians (very old or powerful vampires) and have formed themselves into a band called Innocent Blood. (Yes, like a rock band.) Some are evil; some are not. Their leader is benevolent. Do NOT piss them off. It is certain death. Whether they will be helpful or simply ignore you depends on our characters. (Currently this group is in the Los Angeles region. But they move about as needed.)

CS

This is a 1x1 version. We will both be running a Hunter. I am think he has been hunting since age 15ish. Current age ... maybe 20+. You are welcome to have a character trained since childhood (like the Winchesters). I plan for him to have suffered a major family tragedy around that time. (As an option I can run the female character instead. But I am male, so that is probably better.)

Regarding the CS - the NPC's do not have to be fleshed out initially like a main character, especially if deceased. Just list them as Name (deceased). Of course, if you WANT to explain a little as it affects the character, by all means do so.

Hello!

I couldn't help but notice the World of Darkness themes here so I decided to pop my head in. Would you be going by Masquerade and Apocalypse lore/mechanics? Just curious because I'm rather familiar with both (more or so Masquerade) and playing a hunter (perhaps from Hunters Hunted 2) sounds pretty intriguing.

Hope to hear from you ^_^

Yes, although it has been 20 years since I actually played them and no longer have the books. Not going to be messing around with dice either. But if you have experience with them, you have an idea how weak a new vampire is - or how OP an old one could be. Innocent blood is a group I used in the last games I ran long ago, mostly made up of mentors of the PC group. Do NOT expect to hunt a 6th gen vamp that is a thousand years old. One of the members of Innocent Blood is very similar to a vampire from The Vampire Papers trilogy.

The garou I am less interested in using.

The magic using characters will be classified by terminology from an rpg called Chivalry and Sorcery. Hunters will be able to create holy water, etc with simple rituals much as in Supernatural. Alchemists can create materials that can enhance weapons. I do NOT plan to use Mage: The Ascension. But if you have ever heard of an rpg called Immortal: The Invisible War, there will be some gods running about. However, they really aren't a hunter concern. They will fill the role of such Mages though. Good rule of thumb if you have to fight them, cut off their heads. Not really planning this though.
