I know that there is a way to post pictures by using their URL, but is there a way to post pictures directly from my computer? Or do I have to upload them onto a different site before I can use them here?

There may be an 'Upload A File' button on the bottom of the editor. If not, go into your Preferences and select 'Use the Flash-based uploader to upload attachments'.

There is that button. I used it to post the screenshot earlier and it works great. You then have an option to keep the picture as a thumbnail or input the full image.
