Help How to join a roleplay

Mardok

Ask Me About Grim Fandango
Hi everyone,

I apologize in advance if this question has been asked before or it is not a fit question, but I don't want to break any rules right from the get go. What is the protocol for joining in on a roleplay. Is it a situation where I need to gain permission first, make a character sheet, etc. or can I just jump right in and start posting?

Thank you for you patience with me!

You'll need to ask the GM. They set the rules of their RP.

Thank you for replying. I can't PM yet and I don't want to disrupt a good roleplay to ask if I can join, so maybe I should wait until the site lets me PM. I think I read where there is a page where I can find posts where GM's are checking interest for their group, so I'll try to find that and start there. Thanks!

A roleplay consists of 4 forums - the main roleplay itself, the "lore" or backstory, rules, and a CS thread.

Read through all of that first before joining something, and 99.9% of RP's will require a CS thread.

Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to break it down for me ☺

Also, if you're interested in an active (but not closed) RP, track down its OOC thread and try asking politely there.

Most but not all will be composed as TeaMMatE11 TeaMMatE11 described, but practically all will have at least the IC and OOC threads, so one post (to ask) in the OOC thread shouldn't disrupt the RP itself.

Thank you! Sounds like once I have navigation down, I'll be good to go! I appreciate all the help!
