Advice/Help How to Find Reliable Members for a Group RP?

Roleplay Availability
Roleplay Type(s)
I don't know if there's really any actual answer to this, but has anyone figured out how to find reliable members for a group roleplay? I imagine it's a situation where luck plays heavily into it, but I'm hoping there's a few ways to tell who will be fairly reliable.

By reliable, I mean members who are active and engage outside the RP, as well as sticking around.

Your best bet is look for people who are slow posters.

These are people who are used to writing over a long period of time and typically have a more realistic understanding of their availability to post.

They also don’t flake out when the initial excitement of joining a roleplay fades.

The downside is you might only get one or two posts a week. So progress is gonna be a lot slower.

That does make sense, but how would I best find people like that?
What can I put in the group advert to make it more likely to attract those type of people?

So first just say that you are looking for people who post one or twice a week on average. And when people apply to join the roleplay have them share their “hours of availability”, or basically the days they are most likely to be able to post per week.

If they give you something like - I work Mon-Fri but can usually get a reply up on Sunday then that’s a slow poster.

you can never be sure because some people will stick to a role play and others bounce off. i compensate for this by allowing more people to join my group rps, accounting for some leaving or ghosting.

probably people who have at least a base interest in your concept, and then who are fine with slower posting schedules. it’s heavily dependent on the pace of the rp you’re getting together and genre too. it helps if you have other spaces to get people involved ooc like a channel for posting roleplay memes or in-character responses to question prompts.

I do expect that, I'm just wondering if anyone who's hosted successful group RPs have found ways to get reliable members consistently.

Yeah, I have seen consistently that having a Discord server or similar for OOC interaction makes a big difference in the longevity.

Then I give you the most true and hardest answer of all : "Excellence."

I never have any problem populating my group RPs. If I post an interest check and the idea gets traction, I can easily get 12-18 people willing to RP with me. Why?

Because my role-plays rock. I've been on this site for years and while I sometimes run out of steam, I always try to deliver a great experience and most of the time I think I do. By making a rep for yourself you'll never be short of people clamoring to get into your RPs.

It's not a "Silver bullet" or easy answer, but it's the only one I know for sure.

Good Luck and GREAT adventures! <3
