How do you keep Color Me from reverting?

This didn't use to be a problem, but recently my page has started to revert back to the default Color Me theme every time I open up my window. It doesn't usually change when I'm browsing the site, but if I leave and come back, it does. It used to carry over and I don't think I'm doing anything different. I think I remember reading that it had to do with cookies or something, but I'm not much of a computer whiz and I don't remember if there's any way to fix it. Does anyone have a simple explanation that can help me out? Thanks. (:

I believe color me choices are stored in your browser cookies, so when those clear out, so too will the setting.

So what clears out the cookies? I haven't changed any settings or anything, and it used to be fine.

It's usually a browser setting that clears cookies.  Check your options?  Accessing them varies by browser, but there may be something somewhere about it.  My Chrome doesn't ever delete them unless I manually do it.

I went to Settings>Privacy>Content Settings, and selected "Allow local data to be set". The other options are "Keep local data only until you quit your browser" and "Block sites from sending any data". Based on these options, it seems that I should have the right one selected (especially since I hadn't changed anything from before it was a problem), but it keeps changing. It works well enough  while I use the site, but if I close the screen and come back, it reverts.


For example, just a moment ago, I had my theme set. I copied the previous post, closed the tab, then immediately came back to RPN. My theme had already reset, even though I was only gone for a moment. This is very frustrating because I like the setup of Color Me, but I don't really like the angular red and blue. It wasn't doing this a week ago, I have no idea why it has started now...

Well, that didn't work... I eventually just gave up and switched over to the dark theme, so we'll see how that goes. If that ever gets fixed, will there be any notification about it?


Something that may or may not be related... I changed my theme to The Nyte Life while on my phone, and when I pulled it up on my computer, the theme had changed as well. I was thinking that maybe being stuck on default with my phone could be affecting the theme on my computer, though the problem only started recently and I've been using my phone since before the update. If that's the case, should it be fixed once Color Me can be customized on mobile as well?


I also just tested out whether or not my theme reverts when I close my window like it does with Color Me. I've been using the default RPN logo background, but I switched it to the red nebula thing before exiting the page and returning (like I did earlier with Color Me). It kept the new background, but reverted when I used Color Me, so I don't think this is an issue with my computer. If it was, shouldn't The Nyte Life revert back to its default background when I leave the page as well? I'm not sure exactly what's going on, but I think there may be something up.

There may or may not be an announcement at the time, but I expect it'll be mentioned in a News post, monthly newsletter, or something similar, along with other fixes.


Something odd I notice when going back and forth between mobile and desktop, which sounds similar to what you're doing: I keep it on Night Life with the RpN logo on my desktop, and Night Life with the Witcher background on my tablet.  Those two will stay logged in and remember their backgrounds with no problem.  However, my phone is set to Night Life with the other red background, and doesn't stay logged in after I've logged in on my tablet or desktop.  (And vice versa - logging in on the phone logs me out of both desktop and tablet.)  It's probably something to do with cookies and linked accounts, but I'm not sure what.

That does sound weird... I've never used RPN on a tablet, but I stay logged in on both my phone and computer without any trouble. I'm using a LG3 phone (or something like that), if that maybe makes a difference.

Update: I switched over to Color Me today and it appears to be working alright at the moment. It may decide to mess up later today, but for right now, I have my lovely green and brown back... (:
