Erina seems shy and quiet because she never speaks and always keeps to herself, in a solitary area. In reality, she cannot speak to anyone or they will become Marked. She's outgoing, a bit sassy, she knows she is dangerous and takes pride in that and can be quite fearsome when she is angry or scared.

Name: Astrid Black-Sain


Personality: Astrid is shy, meek, and very, very curious. She prefers to keep herself to herself, aided by her deafness and her reputation. She's friendly to other outcasts and shy people, although she's afraid of authorities. Her friends are about the only things she will stand up for, although sometimes she grows a spine for herself. She is interested in befriending Erina because she thinks that Erina is an outsider like herself (nobody bothered to explain the whole 'host of the legion' thing to Astrid).


Bio: Astrid was born in Scandinavia (specifically, Norway), but was abandoned wherever the RP takes place in when she was a child, because her mother died of disease, and when her father knew that he was sick, he went out and fought in battles until he died in one, because Vikings think that you only get to Valhalla if you die in battle (or doing something awesome). She was adopted by members of the Black-Sain family. Her adopted parents later died of smallpox, giving her a sort of reputation as a 'Plague girl'.There is nothing to this reputation. She does not have the power to get people sick, and she is not the carrier of some kind of bad luck that makes people around her get sick. Both sets of parents died because of ordinary bad luck (and horrible healthcare). She herself is as deaf as most rocks because of a sickness early on in her life, but knows a rudimentary sign language and how to lip read. She doesn't speak often, although she can, because it's really hard to get the words right when you can't hear yourself.


Now, Astrid mostly hangs around the Black-Sains, doing chores and suchlike to earn her keep.


How they fit into the story: Astrid is the 'naive newcomer' character.
