Dulce periculum. Danger is sweet. You're no stranger to its' constant presence, having shaped you into a cold-blooded killer. Despite the thought of right and wrong weighing heavily on your shoulders, you just can't seem to get out of this life. There's always one more job. One more score to settle. And perhaps deep down, this is who you were meant to be all along...
------------------
Everyone knows the stakes when they take on a contract with the Prestige, a five star hotel located in the heart of Metro City. Underneath its' pleasant high society atmosphere lies a criminal underworld unlike any other. A group of international assassins conduct themselves according to ancient codes older than any government on Earth. When you do business with the hotel, your word is your oath. Actions must be carried out as demanded by tradition and custom or risk facing strict punishment. Here, there is honor among killers.
We begin our story with the main cast at various stages in their assassin careers. Some are newbies trying to earn rep while others have made a name for themselves. A few of you may have formed loose alliances out of friendship to each other. Or perhaps the opposite is true - one thing led to another and now you're sworn enemies. All is allowed under the old ways as long as it doesn't conflict with hotel business.

NEW BLOOD

You're fresh meat for the grinder. Allies - none. Assets - very little. Reputation - who are you again? You press on in hopes of gaining the good graces of the Prestige. Will you beat out the other wannabes for a place at the table, or will you get spit out like so many other unfortunate "guests"?
KILLER

Somewhere along the way you got good. Good enough not to die. It was "kill or be killed" and you managed to stack bodies all across Metro City. You've actually got a nickname or moniker now. People recognize you and give a little chin up out of respect. Doors that were previously closed now open at your approach. Some men even fear you.
FIXER

Sure, you've done a few hits. Maybe even carved a nice piece out of this life. But beyond your abilities as a hitter are your other talents. Services that shady people turn to, because there's nobody else who does it better. A street doctor with steady hands and a library full of meds. A mechanic with the right vehicle for the right job. Whatever the case, you fix peoples' problems in a world requiring the utmost discretion.

The Prestige officially opened on September 19th, 1909 under the name Hotel Mesei, which was later renamed to Prestige in 1926. This fifteen story building contains 130 rooms and suites. Little is known about its owners or who financed the project to begin with. Today, the hotel is legally run by a tangled web of interlocking companies or keiretsus. Subsequent branches were opened in several other countries over the decades.
Now of course its' true business model revolves around supporting criminal enterprises, especially the work of assassins and hitmen. The Prestige is considered neutral territory and any dealings conducted here must abide by house rules:
1. No "business" will be conducted on Prestige grounds (murder, kidnapping, spying, etc).
2. All services will be paid with Prestige-minted gold bullion (coins). No gold, no service.
3. Every marker must be fulfilled.
- ((A "marker" is a special coin used to form blood debts, agreements between two individual people where one side owes a favor for a favor.))
- Failure to abide by these rules will result in excommunication.

Key benefits of being a hotel member include access to "Under the Table" services. Need a G36 with a detachable 100 round drum magazine? Caught a few stray bullets and are bleeding out? As long as you're in good standing, they've got you covered.
There is no exact cost for services. A single coin represents a social contract and grants access to the underworld. Particularly complicated tasks with several layers may require a healthy stack of coins as payment, since there are multiple favors being done.

There will be 2-3 contracts posted online at any given time. Members may pursue more than one and conduct them in any way they see fit (so long as the mission parameters are satisfied). You can even put up your own contracts if you've got a big stack of cash and a healthy amount of coin.
The hotel provides a recommendation on how to approach each contract. Some missions do better with certain specialists, and without those people, the risk of failure increases. For example:

Completion of contracts results in two forms of payment. First, the hotel will pay a face value dollar amount for the target. This is listed up front when the contract is offered. Second, an undisclosed amount of Prestige-minted coins will be awarded. The more difficult the assignment, the more gold that is paid out.

Innocent people are never targeted. Even stray bullets seem to always miss bystanders. Maybe these assassins are just that good? Or there's some unwritten rule about collateral damage? Whatever the case may be, in this world the only people who get hurt are gray characters. All the players fall under said category - some are darker than others but no member of the Prestige is innocent. Incidentally, all contracts are taken out on either hotel members or other career criminals.

The world of Honor Among Killers is very similar to our own. There are continents and countries with their own specific set of problems. Think of the issues we're having today and crank it up a few decibels. Political turmoil reaches across oceans, touching every corner of Earth. However, we will be focusing on the Eastern Hemisphere where technology and innovation clash with old values. Where rich and poor are two sides of the same coin. And where criminal enterprises are often indistinguishable from legitimate businesses. There is currently a Prestige hotel in each of the following countries:
Republic of Hito || This is essentially Japan. Its' people are called the Hattori and the capital, Metro City, is where this roleplay is set. Their technology represents "near future" advances in robotics and medicine. Automation has replaced many aspects of everyday life, and the standard of living is considered the highest in the world. Hattori citizens are rather formal with each other and tend to be both hardworking and introverted. Go-go bars and host/hostess clubs have boomed in the past twenty years because of the epidemic in loneliness.
Svalenyan Comraderation || Eastern European culture. They have a very brutish way of life, often living in rundown cubes (tiny apartments) with multiple families sharing the same bathroom. Those with means tend to work for government business such as the state-run press, SVN (Svalenya Now!). Svalenyans tend to have a strong sense of national pride and celebrate most state holidays with button accordions and tambourines. On the political stage, The Comraderate has been trying to get the world to recognize their claims on Magrova for decades (island off the coast).
Kingdom of West Angazi || Mimicking the Arabian sheikdoms of today, Angazi is technically two countries to the south of Hito. They are rich in resources, including petroleum and natural gas. West Angazi in particular controls a quarter of the world's fossil fuel supply. The standard of living is third world but quickly approaching developed status. Religion and spirituality encompass most people's lives, as they've errected many temples and shrines throughout the desert. Al quiam Rahala, or "making the Trek", is a spiritual goal of many Angazians to journey across all holy sites on the southern continent.
