Mafia meets Psychological meets Horror meets we clearly have something against these poor kids.

Gun shots could be heard from the next room as Kali held tight to one of the legs on the study desk she was chained to. Her eyes scanned the room as she was scared for her life. The room seemed to be getting smaller as her heart picked up the pace waiting for the death sentence from whoever was in the next room giving death sentences out to the only family she had left. Technically they weren't really family but Kali was so accustomed to having people around that she called everyone her family. Biting her bottom lip she squeezed her eyes shut as she heard the firing stop. "Dory..." She whispered her brothers name not knowing where he was at that moment, he could be dead for all she knew. "Dory where are you?" She opened one of her eyes as she continued to call out to Dorian but her calls weren't being answered. Suddenly she heard footsteps near the door and watched as the doorknob slowly turned. "Hey!" Omars voice was deep as he flashed his pearly whites at the girl before him. "Hey!, Hey I'm not here to hurt you now" He laughed drily as he walked closer to her. Kali crawled her way under the desk scared to be the next to go, she couldn't go far as the chain wouldn't allow her so all she could do was hide no matter what the man was saying, she didn't want to believe him. "Go away!" Tears began to stream down her face as she watched him move closer to her. Getting on one of his knees he looked under the desk. "Come on out, it is alright I'm not going to hurt you, come on" He gestured with his hand moving it towards his body. "You're safe now, you will never hurt again. I promise" He noticed he still had his pistol in his hand as he put on the safety lock and placed it on the bed. "Look, I won't hurt you" He put his hands up in surrender to let her know he meant no harm. Kali watched as he put his gun down then slowly crawled out from under the desk standing up. "You won't hurt me?" She half smiled eying the gun on the bed. "Promise?" She held out her pinky finger to him. "Promise?" Kali again said in a raspy tone as she hadn't been given water since earlier that day. "Promise" He latched on then motioned a guy who was with him to undo her chains. "Where is Dorian, Kali?" Omar walked around the room picking up his gun putting it in the back of his pants covering it up. "Is he in here?"

Unfortunately, Kali hadn't seen Dorian since last night they both had things to do separately that night so she hadn't even gotten to say goodbye or anything like they always did when they had to leave each other. Shrugging her shoulders she watched as the man un did her chains. "How do you know my name?" She shivered against the wind as the small window pane had been opened and the smell of bad odor seeped through. "What is that smell?" She covered her nose making a face. "It stinks" Her eyes widen as the smell became stronger. "That my dear is the smell of death" He was opening closet doors and looking under the bed for the boy but couldn't find him anywhere. "We need to find your brother then get out of here, do you understand?" Kali just nodded confused as to what was going on but felt relief that the man who just possible murdered her whole family was sparing her and Dorian's life. "I understand sir..." She said just above a whisper as she followed him bare foot out of the room and into the living room where she saw dead bodies spreaded out everywhere. Kali closed her eyes quickly not wanting to see anymore dead bodies as she grabbed Omar's hand. "Please can we go outside, please!" She pleaded as he told one of his men to take her outside while he searched the home thoroughly for Dorian. It was a tough job finding Dorian but Omar managed to find and get him out with his sister without much of a fight from both of them but Dorian was a tough one and he liked that. As they all piled in the SUV Kali laid her head against the window drawing on the window with her finger as the fog rested on the SUV. "Where were you?" Kali asked Dorian as she kept on drawing on the window not looking over at him. She was upset that Dorian wouldn't come out when she had called him, she needed him and he didn't appear like magic. She believed strongly in magic, Harry Potter had magic so shouldn't everyone else have magic?. "I called you over and over!" Her voice escalated but kept it down so the men in the front wouldn't look back to see what the fuss was about. "You should have come" She scuffed breathing in and out to calm herself down.

Many hours had past as they landed in New York in the middle of the night. Kali awoke from her slumber as she walked off the plane with her blanket the plane attendant gave her, at least she thought she had given it to her. She had it wrapped around her shoulders as if it were a cape and walked down the long seemly hallway until they met a crowded airport. "People come here at night time, at 3AM?" She asked nobody in particular as she looked around then stopped. "Is there any other way to go besides past all these people?" Kali kept scanning the crowd it was way to big for her taste and her hands began to shake and sweat. "How about we use one of these exits?" She pointed to one a few feet away where nobody was but it said emergency on it. "No the only way out is through the front so get your shit together" One of the men said rolling his eyes in anger that she was acting the way she was. She was holding up their sleep time they could of been getting if she wasn't freaking out. Kali stuck her nose up in the air ignoring the guy's comment as she shook her head back and forth. "I can't do this!!" She covered her ears and took a seat on the floor criss-cross. Kali thought over and over in her head that it would be okay, that nobody would get her within the crowd and take her away like not so long ago as she was token from her other family just to be with the one that was murdered. Omar leaned against a booth standing watching Kali as he looked over at Dorian. "We need to get going, so Dorian help us out" He asked giving him a stern look, they all had enough of Kali's behavior and were ready to pick her up and carry on but they didn't need attention drawn to them as they were already in deep with the police.

"Shh," said the guy with his hand clamped over Dorian's mouth. "Don't make a sound."

Despite his warning, Dorian whimpered again when a gunshot was fired downstairs. "Shut up," the man hissed, tightening his grip to the point where Dorian could barely breathe. He was kneeling on a bed upstairs, shirtless and bleeding on his back from a series of fresh lashes. Beside him, a burly member of 'the family' had him in a headlock, his hand gripping Dorian's jaw shut. Dorian could hear that the man's breathing was laboured, faster than usual, and he could taste the sweat that was pooling on the man's palm. Momentarily, he was pleased to witness this man in a moment of vulnerable terror, and then his smugness devolved into fear. If this man was scared, then what did that mean for him?

Crying again for the second time that hour, Dorian made an unpleasant choking noise in the back of his throat as tears streaked his cheeks. He tried to plead with his captor to just let him go, to tell him to run, but he could get no words out and the man was locked in position, frozen on the bed. His trousers were still undone and open, and a couple of droplets of Dorian's blood spattered his well-defined torso. Dorian felt the sudden urge to get this man to safety, away from whatever violent, bloodlust-driven madmen were rampaging below. They could go somewhere together, escape from here. They'd keep each other safe; Dorian would be safe so long as he stayed with this man and was unwaveringly loyal to him.

He didn't get the chance to voice this ingenious plan, however, for seconds later the door was kicked in. A well-dressed man brandishing a pistol stood in the doorway, and Dorian barely had time to release a pathetic mewl before two shots were fired. Both struck his captor in the forehead, and the man's grip on him slackened before the body fell sideways, dragging him with down with it onto the bed sheets.

Drenched in blood from the messy wound, Dorian scrambled to escape from the body's clutches and then shoved the corpse away from him, staring at it in horror. Wide-eyed, he looked back at the man in the doorway, his breathing on the verge of hyperventilation. "Don't kill me," Dorian said, his voice barely a whisper. He remained still for a moment before he lurched into action, driven by the adrenaline flooding his system and the instinct to survive. He crawled forwards on the bed and then slipped off of it, falling to his knees. "Don't kill me," he begged again. "I can be useful to you. Take me with you."

"Relax, we're not here to kill you," the man said. "Sir, we've found him," he called, turning his head aside to shout to someone down the hall. Dorian sat there, slumping, not comprehending the situation before him. Then another man appeared, handsome and even better dressed, and he looked down at Dorian.

"Dorian, there you are. We've come to take you away from here," Omar said with a smile that was welcoming, but raised the hairs on the back of Dorian's neck. He did not take this as a sign of warning, however; instead he found he instantly trusted the man.

"I'll come," Dorian said, quickly getting to his feet and straightening. The man stood before him seemed calm, in control, masculine. Dorian mirrored his body language and his eyes dried immediately. He asked no questions from the man, and instead followed him wordlessly and without disobedience.

He was reunited with his sister when he was seated by his escorts in the back of a black SUV. As everyone else got in and buckled up, he watched only Omar, studying him closely. Each mannerism he spotted in the man, he tried to adopt it, and he remained silent as he did so. He did not look over at his sister, listening to her complaints with a tightening sensation in his stomach. In his mind he called her a bitch, or a whore, it varied between the two, but the insult never once registered in his expression. After she'd finished muttering to him, he reached over and took a hold of her hand without looking at her, giving her fingers a gentle but firm reassuring squeeze. He then withdrew his hand and leant against the car door, maintaing his steady gaze on Omar, their valiant rescuer and hero.

When they touched down on ground much later and exited the plane they'd flown on, Dorian was glad to be on foreign soil. It was a new world, a chance to reinvent himself. A chance to be a better man, like the man who had rescued them. He continued to regard Omar with a look of introverted admiration as they entered the airport, as well as continuing his study of the man, his behaviour, speech patterns, and so on.
This, he thought, is what a man should be like. Someone capable, in control, and commanding. He tried his best to hold himself as Omar did, and to mirror the angle of his head, the way in which he moved. Dorian didn't want to disappoint him by cowering in corners or acting weak.

His sister, on the other hand, seemed to be coping less well, and Dorian watched on passively as she had her breakdown. One word from Omar, however, and he was by his sister's side, hushing her gently. He'd spent his life with her, and it had been her with whom he had gone through hell, so he knew how to comfort and reassure her. Speaking to her in soft tones and touching her in a way that wouldn't trigger her, he held her close. "Come on Kali," he said quietly. "Let's get out of here. We're going to a safe place now." Though Dorian knew not where they were going, he knew it was to a better place. He understood without having to be told that things were different now. Thus, they had to be different.

With tender care, Dorian helped Kali up, and guided her through the rest of the airport, sticking with her all the way. He didn't want her embarrassing them both in front of their rescuer again, and so anything he thought might upset her, he intervened first, keeping her safe from people, speaking for her when she seemed nervous, everything. He continued this all the way until they reached yet another black SUV, and even helped her take her seat, buckling her seatbelt for her. "Everything's going to be alright now," he told her, repeating it over and over like a mantra. "We're safe."

The black SUV turned a corner as a nice neighborhood came into view Kali had her head rested on Dorian's shoulder as she lifted her head up to look at all the street lights with enormous big houses lining the street. Stopping in front of what seemed like a Lake house they parked and un loaded the SUV. Kali hopped out of the large SUV grabbing her blanket and stood looking at the house for a moment. "Looks like something out of a movie" She said admiring its beauty. "It is beautiful" She spoke quietly as it was still dark even though the sun was rising. "Welcome to my home" Omar bowed laughing as he took off up the pathway to the door where he push the key in the lock unlocking it turning on the foyer light. As it turned on Kali looked up noticing the chandelier and the ceiling height as she was in awe of the place. It somewhat reminded her of Annie the movie but much better and there was no Christmas tree, not yet anyways. Kali took off exploring every inch of the downstairs alone, turning on light switches and turning them off. Not even being invited to tour the home she couldn't help herself she had never seem a home so inspiring. "WOW!!!" She claps her hands together twirling around through a long hallway then paused in front of a table full of photos as she looked through some. Omar gestured his men to the upstairs to place their bags in their rooms and to not go through them. "Place them on their bed and leave, I'll speak with you all tomorrow. Be here by 9AM" The sun peeked over the mountain behind the Abellos home as Labor Day was approaching and his house would soon smell of food, all sorts of food. He was happy to have gotten the children now instead of later. "Dorian your room and Kali's room are just right across from each other, go up these stairs and take a left and your names should be on the door" With that being said Omar left the kids to explore the house while servants awaited at their every need. Turning on his heels Omar stopped and turned around. "Ooh, if you guys needs anything just ask these lovely people and if they can't then come to me I'll be in my study but they should be able to help you if not someone will be fired" He shook his head back and forth to get a kink out of his neck before disappearing into his study room. Kali walked into the kitchen where she noticed someone with their head down on the table with a funny hat on. Raising an eye brow she shrugged opening the fridge, the fridge had everything in it. Fruits, meats, juices, milk everything she didn't have with their previous owner. Hesitating to pick up a capri sun as it read on the juice package she was startled by one of the servants. "You may have as many as you want, they are there for you!" He nodded waving at her. "Go ahead" Kali took the juice examining it.

"Mmmmm" She was sitting in the middle of the floor criss-cross as she had done at the airport, all she ever knew was floors and chains so sitting on chairs were something she wasn't use to. "You want to sit down Ma'am?" Tony the servant said pulling out a chair. "No I'm fine right here" Sipping on the capri sun letting the juice slide down her throat and sooth her insides Kali was in heaven she hoped it would last a long time. By now she had drank five capri sun and couldn't get enough of them. "Their so good, I love that their apple crisp kind" She scanned the kitchen with her eyes before a maid came in. "Are you ready to explore your room miss?" She had her hands behind her back waiting for her to answer. "Okay..." Kali got up slowly scooping up the capri suns in her arms and tossed them in a near by trash can. "I will escort you to your room then" She held out her hand, the elderly woman seemed sweet and fragile. She looked Chinese as her salt and pepper hair admired her slanted eyes, they were light brown. Kali took her hand walking away with the woman leaving Tony standing in the kitchen as soon as she was out of ear shot he had yelled at the chef for sleeping on the job and made sure he would report it. She could hear her name in the conversation but couldn't hear anymore as she walked up the stairs and into her room. "Why is my name on the door?" She pointed it out asking the woman as she walked in. "Everyone has names on their doors it is just how Omar likes it" She took a seat in a nearby rocking chair letting Kali explore her room. "It is so beautiful!, so beautiful!" She whispered to herself taking a seat at the desk provided for her. She noticed the Hello Kitty note pads as it was written on the box and opened the box running her hand over the note cards. What little did she have of clothing was brought to Omar house as she saw the bag on her bed, opening the bag she noticed some of her clothing but decided to not unpack. They were never in a place to long and quite frankly the clothing she was being dressed in were not her taste at all. "Not unpacking?" The woman rocked in the rocking chair smiling at Kali as she got up slowly rubbing her back, she had went to the closet and opened it taking out a white night gown. "Here you can wear this until Lorraine takes you both shopping for new things. Once she had the dress in her hands she was led to the bathroom which matched her room. She undressed and took a very long shower. Twenty minutes later she was out and in her gown looking at herself in the mirror. "I haven't showered in forever" She looked over at the woman who was still smiling. "What is your name?" Kali picked up the brush that was laying by the sink and slowly brushed her hair counting the strokes in her head. "My name is Mabel" -- "Mabel that is a pretty name" Putting the brush down after 10 strokes on both sides she walked out feeling the fur carpet beneath her feet. "Feels so funny"

Walking out of her room she rushed across the hall to Dorian room twirling around. "How do I look, I look like a princess right? or more like a queen" She giggled then took a seat on the floor. "This place is like heaven, even though I don't know what heaven looks like" She scratched her head in confusion smiling watching Dorian look around his room. "Sweet room right? mines is just how I imagined it" She let a sigh escape her lips as she calmed herself down from being excited and placed her hands by her side. "Do you think we will stay here long? I didn't unpack" She laid back on the floor looking up at the ceiling as to take in everything she had seen today. "They had apple juice in a pouch, I never noticed that until now. I had five of them" She held up five fingers and chuckled. "Oh and I found someone sleeping to, I don't think they were suppose to be sleeping" Kali could talk to her brother as if nothing was wrong but when it came to other people their age she had a difficult time. "I hope we can stay here forever"

As Kali rested her head on his shoulder, Dorian gently leant his head against hers, although he was cautious to keep an eye on Omar to ensure that he was not watching. She smelt familiar, one of the few constants in his life, and as she rested against him he raised one hand to stroke her hair gently, breaking his stare momentarily to look down at her, his face expressionless.

When they drew up outside the house, he was the last out of the car, feeling stiff as the stickiness of the healed wounds on his back made it painful to move as it ruptured the newly forming scabs. Still, he worked on masking the discomfort and followed in after everyone else, casting his eyes around the place in a quick once over. It was lavish, perhaps the most luxurious home they had ever been in, but Dorian didn't really care for it. He was more impressed by Omar's clear wealth and good taste, and by how efficiently things were run. Omar's brisk words to the servants, laced with the occasional threat, felt more comforting to him than any of the expensive looking decor, and it was as Omar spoke that Dorian found himself relaxing, smiling softly. Finally, they were under the control of someone who knew what they were doing; the fact that he seemed non-violent was a pleasant bonus too.

With Omar going off and accompanying Kali as she explored the kitchen, Dorian took the time alone to wander the house himself, looking in at the rooms and familiarising himself with the layout. He took off his shoes, placing them down next to what looked to be the shoe rack, and padded about barefoot on the polished wooden floors and smooth stone surfaces, going outside for a few moments just to breathe in the night air. Despite the noise of the servants inside, everything felt quiet, calm compared to the sheer noise that had surrounded the busy urban home in Africa. Out in the distance, an owl was hooting softly, and the lawn was infested with the low chirping of crickets.

Dorian felt his chest and throat tighten, and tears stung his eyes, though he didn't know if it was from happiness or sadness. He knew that what they had been through had now drawn to an abrupt, ill-explained close, but that it was still there behind them and would likely never leave. This world was so different, it even smelt different, and the contrast only served to highlight the horror of what they'd left behind.

Shaking his head and pawing at his eyes to dry them, Dorian scurried back inside and up the stairs, quick-walking to his room and carefully shutting the door behind him. He was breathing heavily, and he felt dizzy, leaning against the door for support as his legs went weak.
Everything will be fine, he told himself, over and over. You're safe now. It's time to grow up.

Eventually he brought his breathing under control, and he turned to inspect his new lodgings. The room was large and spacious, with a partial second floor, and the colour scheme was muted. It was frightening in its own right in just how large it was. Dorian had never been fond of wide open spaces, and found the room intimidating, but he reassured himself with the knowledge that Omar owned and protected it, and that he would be safe here. He'd never had a living space of his own, not one that was supposed to be permanent and truly
his, and so it was difficult to connect the idea to himself. He paced around for a while, brushing his fingertips over the various surfaces, marvelling at how soft and welcoming the bed sheets were, and at how clean the air was. By the end of it, he sat down on his bed and allowed himself to smile.

Up on the partial second floor, Dorian found a rack of clothes hung up. Most of them were childish, T-shirt with logos and jeans with rips in them, all clearly expensive given the quality of the material and trendy judging by what Dorian had observed men his age wearing, but his interest was taken up by the clothing hung at the back of the rail. Picking the hanger off of the rack, Dorian admired the neat, crisply ironed suit that hung there. It looked similar to the sort of clothing Omar's men had worn, and was just the sort of thing rich businessmen who had paid Dorian and Kali visits had sported.

Stripping out of his loose tracksuit bottoms and the shirt he'd grabbed from their old residence, Dorian changed into the suit. It was two sizes too big for him, and he didn't know how to tie the tie, having only ever tied ones on other people, but he felt incredibly pleased with himself as he inspected his appearance in the mirror. Now he didn't stick out in this new world like a sore, dirtied thumb.

His self-admiration was interrupted, however, when Kali burst into the room, a floaty white nightgown swirling around her. "Very like a princess," he said quietly, listening to her babble. He spoke little as she continued on, clearly swept away by the house, and he smiled lightly to himself, happy she was enjoying herself. Looking back at the mirror, he played around with his hair, wishing it didn't look so greasy and badly cut, and that his skin wasn't so bashed up and dirty, plus he needed a shave. "I think we're going to live here," he said, giving himself a proper parting with his fingers. "I think we're going to live here for a long time."

Just as he finished speaking, another visiter entered, this time knocking beforehand. "Kids?" The voice said, and in stepped a middle-aged woman with brown skin, dark but elegant make-up, and an apron saying 'kiss the cook' worn over a
cashmere dress. Her face lit up when she spotted them, and she stepped in properly, walking towards Kali and holding out her hand. "Oh, it's so good to finally meet you. I'm Lorraine, Omar's wife. I'm going to be your new mother," she said warmly, beaming from ear to ear, although she was suitably restrained in her excitement for a woman in her forties.

Giving them both a half hug, careful not to touch them too much for she'd had experience with sexual assault victims and knew the triggers well, Lorraine stepped back afterwards and admired them both. "Oh, you poor things. Kali, you're so beautiful, and Dorian, you're such a handsome young man. I see you found Omar's old suit. I thought you might like to try on some of his old things, just to get an idea for size... It's a bit ill-fitting, but we'll go and get you both some nice things tomorrow. Oh dear, I'm sorry for what I heard happened with you two. I promise you, Omar and I, we're going to take very good care of you. Would you like me to get you anything? Something to eat, drink?"

Kali was startled by the door opening as she sat up looking at the middle-aged woman standing before them. Looking at the woman's hand Kali took it cautiously into hers and shook it. "It is nice to meet you Lorraine, do you have a shorter name by any chance" She struggled to pronounce her name and wondered if there was a shorter version. Kali stood up smoothing out her gown as she nodded her head to Lorraine question. "I want something to eat please, I haven't eaten. Dorian hasn't either" She pointed to him smiling not know if she should of spoke for him or not. Kali sighed looking at the woman as she felt sorry for them she shrugged her shoulders not answering her question she didn't want to think of the terrors she endured in that house in the middle of nowhere. "What can you cook?" She asked Lorraine as she picked at her arm nervously.

"You can call me Lori, dear," Lorraine said, smiling softly at the girl and returning the hand shake, clearly pleased that the girl had spoken at all. Dorian meanwhile glanced sideways at his sister, his expression inscrutable, but he made no words of protest against the idea of food. "Well, I'm not wearing an apron for nothing darlings, and I've certainly been a housewife long enough to know my way around the kitchen. Let's go relieve the chef of his duties and we'll see what takes your fancy. We've got a full stock of meat, and some fresh fruit and veg was brought in yesterday. Or, if you're feeling creative, we could mix things up and have a full English breakfast for dinner. It is entirely up to you; you name it, I'll cook it."

She thus lead the two children back down to the kitchen, Dorian trailing behind slightly, keeping his eyes averted to the floor before he perked up upon reaching the kitchen, realising just how hungry he was. With a nod of permission from Lori, he looked through the cupboards, searching for something to quieten the quiet grumbling noises his stomach was making. In the end he settled with the full English breakfast, and he sat up at the breakfast bar watching as Lori set about preparing. "And what would you like, dear?" She asked, looking over at Kali with an expectant smile.

Kali listened to Lorraine talk as she half smiled, she seemed to talk a lot to Kali but then again nobody ever talked with her so she would have to get use to it. "I think I saw him sleeping before, I'm not sure" She shrugged her shoulder speaking quietly as she followed behind Lorraine. "I saw everything already because I saw your capri suns and I kind of..." Kali stopped talking she knew it was wrong to just dive into someones fridge without permission so if she were to say anything she might get yelled at and she wasn't prepared for it. Taking a seat on one of the stools she placed her chin in her hand as she watched Lorraine go about her way in the kitchen. "What is a full English breakfast?" She asked with her brow raised.

Kali scanned the kitchen once more she knew she would be in here in the middle of the night to eat just as she was back at her owner's previous house. She couldn't get enough to eat there so she always sneaked into the kitchen to get a bite of food. "I will settle for your English breakfast, is it big in size?" The food Dorian and Kali ate were scraps, stale food, or leftovers so she was quite hungry for something that would satisfy her or else she would come looking for more. "I love your house, it is so big and beautiful" She looked around at all the windows in the home. "So big!" She wore a bright smile on her face. "I can't wait to go out tomorrow to see where we will be going"

"What is a-" Lori began, before cutting off and laughing quietly. "Dear, it's fried eggs, sausages, fried toast, tomato, bacon, and some good ol' hash browns," She informed Kali cheerfully, setting up two frying pans to fry it all, along with a grill. "And you're welcome to take anything from the fridge whenever you like; you're awfully thin you two, it would do you some good."

As she set about frying, dicing, and grilling their meals, Dorian looked over at Kali, studying her reaction before looking around the room, agreeing with her. The house
was big, impressively so, and he wondered if all of it was as cheerful and seemingly perfect as this... "I'll be taking you two into the city to do some shopping, if that's alright with you two? I've already phoned my favourite shop clerk, and she's agreed to help measure you, and then we can get you some clothes that actually fit and aren't night gowns." Looking over at Kali, she pursed her lips for a moment before saying, "You're definitely a spring my dear. And as for you, Dorian, I think you're a clear Autumn."

Dorian had no idea what those terms meant - how could he be a season? - but said nothing, not wanting to appear ignorant. Instead he fiddled with his fingers in his lap until Lori brought over their meals, dished up onto over-sized plates and still overflowing. The smell was mouth-watering enough as it was, and Dorian almost couldn't believe he was allowed to eat it. "T-thank you," he stammered out, momentarily dazed by the prospect of eating so much food. Lori handed them both a set of cutlery, and though Dorian had never really used it before, he had seen clients and business partners doing so, and thus he tried to mimic them now, awkwardly cutting up the food before him and digging in. Holy cow it was delicious.

Kali sat quietly placing her hands in front of her making sure not to touch anything that didn't belong to her, she already raided the fridge and even though it was said to be allowed she felt guilty. "Spring?" Kali tilted her head watching Lorraine's every move as she spoke of seasons to Dorian and her. Under her faceless expression she was excited to go shopping tomorrow for new clothing, that meant she could get anything her heart desired and she has been wanting to look like most teenage girls she had seen in magazines that she would periodically steal while her owners were away. Brushing her hair away from her face she moved her legs up and down waiting on the mouth watering food to appear. The smells of onions, garlic, and eggs made her mouth water as she was presented with a full size plate of food. "Thank you! thank you so much!" For some reason or another Kali had tears in her eyes as she glanced down at all the food on the plate. "Thank you!" Again she said damping at her tears then looked at the cutlery they were handed and took it from her gently. Picking up a fork she looked at it, she had remembered when she had watch The Little Mermaid as a child that she combed her hair with the fork but since then she had seen people eating food with it too. So maybe it was a comb and something you eat with which was neat in Kali's eyes. The bags that settled under her eyes did Kali no good as she yawned before taking her first bite of eggs, her mouth was in heaven as she nodded. "These are so good!" She spoke with her mouth full of food but who wouldn't the food was to good to stop eating just to say how wonderful it tasted.

A couple of more bites and Kali was full she didn't eat the rest of her food as she slid off the stool and disappeared out of the kitchen. She was exhausted and needed sleep she wanted to be alone with her thoughts because she still couldn't believe that herself was living like this, she wished they lived back at the old house it was more suitable for how she was raised. Walking quietly she climbed the stairs and went into her room where she took her covers off the bed and went under her bed instead to sleep. The floor was Kali's life and nobody could take that away from her, It had been that way for many years to come and she would soon enough have to get use to sleeping in a bed but for now she would admire the fur carpet beneath her. Adjusting herself comfortable under the bed she pulled the covers up and tucked herself in as she was grateful the moon had decided to set by her bedroom window that night. Being afraid of the dark was no joke and when it went dark she would think of all creepy things at night. Shutting her eyes she opened them and realized she couldn't do this, she couldn't live here. She crawled out from under her bed going towards Dorian room where she would find comfort in him. He seemed to haven't made it back from eating yet so she just took a spot on the floor and laid there until he did. She knew she would end up sleeping in his room as she always slept with him throughout the years, call it gross. But Dorian was her forever person.

Happy just to see Kali happy, and both of them seeming so in awe of their meals, Lori unlaced the tie of the apron behind her back and hung it up on the door, giving them some time to eat. To allow them some peace and quiet, she ventured through the house in search of her husband, humming an old song from the eighties as she did so. She smiled at the passing servants and bid those who were done for the day goodnight, feeling really rather serene. She was glad to find the children so lovely, especially given what they had gone through, she was expecting the worse in preparation.

"Oh darling, they're both lovely," she said when she finally found her husband, going and taking a seat in the room, curling her legs up onto the seat and inhaling deeply with a smile. "Thank you so much for rescuing them. I felt so sorry for them after what you told about what they were going through..." She trailed off, looking out a window and thinking to herself about the events she had heard described to her, and about how different that life shall be. "I hope they'll be happy here," she mused, more to herself than to her husband.

Dorian meanwhile finished everything on his plate, not wanting to be rude, despite the uncomfortable fullness it brought about, and he went and stacked his plate by the sink like he'd seen people do when they were trying to be polite. Mentally complaining about the after effects of over eating, feeling slightly sick, Dorian clambered back up the stairs and retreated to his room, familiar with what a food coma was from previous binges and able to feel one coming on. Instead of being able to sleep immediately, however, he found Kali sat upon his floor, her face lined with distress.

"What is it?" Dorian asked quietly, looking down at her. He could guess that she wished to share rooms, as they always had done during their years of trouble, but he found he was repelled by the thought. He knew that most people didn't do it, that grown ups slept in separate rooms or with lovers, not with their upset sisters. Still, he knew not to make her more upset and thus went and took a seat beside her, holding one of her hands in his and rubbing it gently to soothe her.

"I know it's scary here," he said quietly, because it was true. He'd felt, as she must have too, the terrifying reality of having escaped. Now they didn't just have to survive, they had to live and cope. "But it's safe, and these people want to look after us. They're good people." Lorraine seemed like everything Dorian had ever wanted from a mother, and Omar was the perfect man, in control. In his eyes, they truly were good people, despite slaughtering their past family and essentially kidnapping them... "Come on, you want to show them we can be good people too, don't you?" He said, before relenting and pecking her on the top of her head. "You can sleep with me tonight, if you want. But tomorrow we sleep in our own rooms. We can't let them down, not after what they've done for us." It was the most he'd spoken since they'd returned home, but in that moment he felt rather valiant, like he had a cause to fight for; Lorraine and Omar's cause, and he felt proud to defend it.

Kali had tears streaming down her cheeks as she took in her brothers words, she nodded her head and rested her head on his shoulder. Kali was very scared she was so used to being beaten, told what to do, and stared down at almost her whole life and then suddenly this enormous change came into play for her. Dorian seemed to be taking it well as Kali was noticing. "I'm just scared, it is to much for me....w..hy? can't we just go back" She sobbed into his arms wrapping her arms around him not wanting to let go. "I just want to go home" Kali cried for so long she finally went to sleep in Dorian arms.

"They are lovely aren't they?" Omar grinned at his wife sitting in his chair folding his hands on his desk. "But don't forget we have a long way ahead of us with them, they are going to need therapy and a whole lot more before they are actually stabled" Omar wasn't going to go into details about what happened because quite frankly Lucille didn't know that he had murdered the owners just to get the kids and they sure did put up a hell of a fight. "Are you taking them out tomorrow?" He asked getting up from his seat walking over to his wife sitting in the chair next to her putting his leg over the other. "They will be very happy once they are use to the place honey" He looked outside with Lucille at the oak tree swaying back and forth. "They will be just fine"

The next morning came as the sun rays filled all the rooms in the house Omar turned over in bed watching his wife sleep as he slipped out gently and quietly as today was his big day for the oil company. He would need to go to Texas to present his project to the board. Good thing the family had their own private jet so he would make it back in time for dinner. Rushing to dress in his suit and tie which in this case he had many he put on his shoes and swooped up his briefcase walking out of the room. As a fatherly figure he stopped by Dorian and Kali's room to check on them but didn't see Kali in her room, opening Dorian's door he spotted them both and smiled. "Morning kiddos" He whispered under his breathe then closed the door leaving the house for the day. As soon as the door shut Kali opened her eyes. "Wake up Dory!"

Kali ran over to his bed and jumped on him lightly. "It is morning, we made it until morning without anything happening" She grinned from ear to ear getting up as the door opened and one of the maids she had met last night had a dress and shoes in her hands along with undergarments. "Ready to dress Miss?" She held out her arms to hand over her clothes, Kali accepted and ran off into her bathroom to dress for the day. "We are going shopping with Lu today, we will get to meet people" She was speaking to Mabel through the door as she dressed, sliding on the dress over herself she examined it. "Hmm it fits and it is very pretty" She admired the small designs on it. "I think my hair done" She tussled it in her hands and then picked up her brush to brush it ten times on each side. Walking out of the bathroom she twirled showing Mabel as she clapped. "Beautiful just like you!"

Groaning quietly as Kali tried to drag him out of sleep, Dorian rolled over and buried his head under his hands, trying to fall back into the dream he'd been having. He wasn't quite sure what it had been about, Omar had been there, and past 'clients' from Africa, and it had all been one jumbled mess. Despite him playing himself in the dream, he'd felt detached from it, and had felt nothing as graphic events had unfolded before him, numb to the process. If anything, the events that unfolded left him feeling unexpectedly secure and safe, and he wanted to return to that rather than be dragged into another day of hell.

As sunlight helped nudge him to awaken, however, he remembered that he was no longer in hell. He was wrapped in the downy sheets of a luxurious bed, in the house of a wealthy and successful man and his charming wife. Dorian squinted and sat up as Kali rambled, and he gave her a bleary smile in response to whatever she was going on about, because he was too sedated to listen but knew what response she'd be looking for regardless.

He still felt heavy and lethargic from the large breakfast-for-dinner last night, whilst simultaneously feeling hungry. As Kali was taken out to go and get dressed, he pulled back on the ill-fitting suit, smelling at the sleeves cautiously. The scent was unfamiliar, rich and the aftershave was clearly expensive, and Dorian guessed it must have from from Omar. Once again that misplaced sense of security came back to him, and he smiled absently, examining himself in the mirror before going downstairs. He really did need to shave, and a hair cut to fit in with this place, which was the one thing he was truly determined to do. He wasn't going to be weak and useless anymore; he wanted to be someone.

Plodding downstairs, he found Lorraine had already dressed and was in the kitchen. Whilst they had a chef, she'd always prefer to cook herself when it was for her family, which up until that point had been Omar, but now she had the kids to spoil rotten with food too. She already had pancakes frying in the pan, and had set out some chopped exotic fruit for them to pick at. Upon Dorian entering, she gave him a wide grin in greeting, continuing to hum along to a song playing quietly on the radio as she cooked and spoke. "Good morning darling, you look like you slept well. I imagine you're looking forward to getting out of that baggy thing."

Dorian was actually rather fond of his over-sized suit, but merely smiled back at Lori as he took a seat, digging into the slice and dice board of fruit. When Kali eventually came down, Lorraine fully stopped cooking to look at her, clapping her hands together. "Oh Kali, I
knew that dress would suit you. You look absolutely darling in it, I can't wait to take you shopping." Looking rather pleased with herself, she dished up the pancakes and looked between the two of them. "You both ready to go shopping after you've eaten?"

Kali smiled brightly. "Thank you I love this dress" She took a seat on one of the stools as she grabbed an apple and took a bite into it. "I'm ready to go shopping!" Kali said enthusiastically she couldn't wait to meet people while out shopping for the day and get clothing she could wear and like. The only problem she had on her mind though was her and Dorian being entered into school she know that might want them to go to school at some point and she definitely wasn't ready for that. She hadn't seen a school since she was 12 years old and the rest was history. "Would we have to go to school while living here?" She asked fiddling with her hair as she put her half eaten apple down on the counter. "I haven't been to one in forever"
