Realistic or Modern Hollywood High

Ally smiled widely. "You really think so?" she asked, a blush rising in her cheeks before being wrapped in a tight hug. She nodded in response to Danni's question. "I try. I also write stories and poetry." she glanced over at her stack of notebooks, one of which was her journal where she wrote her thoughts, ideas, dreams and things like that. "I don't think so- I mean I don't think he plays music, not that he doesn't like music. He's more of a model and film guy. I'm sure he could find one though, he's pretty connected." she smiled at her joke threat of telling him off. @McMajestic

"Awesome! He can hook us up and film our music videos. Or get somebody to film our music videos. How connected is he? Could he be like a manager type? Because I'm really not into responsibility." Danni chuckled and tossed a tattered notebook onto her bed that had a few personal things written in it although she was relatively an open book. She also pulled her skateboard out of her dufflebag. "Don't be fooled by this, I can barely ride it in a straight line. I'm hoping to find someone who can teach me," she added, glancing over her shoulder at Ally with a bright smile.

When Lucas Hastings arrived at the facility, he knew not to enter through the main doors. On the first day, the principal gave the same speech. The freshmen, as expected, would be buzzing with elation, and it would be futile to try to navigate the halls with so many students. Instead, Lucas entered the upper classmen dorms a different way, lugging a large suitcase in one hand, and holding a guitar case in the other.

Now that he was a junior, Lucas had to be especially focused on his craft. In two years he'd be graduating, so there was no time to lose. He swiped his key card and the doors to the building opened. As he ascended to the 6th floor in the elevator, the singer reminded himself about his goals: finish his third album, keep his grades up, and start looking for connections. There would be no playing around this year; no more pretty girls on a late night out.

Lucas reached his single dorm and unlocked it, dragging his things in, and collapsing on the bed. A stressful year was ahead of him. Which made him think, he should head over to the recording studios on campus to hash out some things. Lucas shucked his overcoat so he was left in a plain white t-shirt and grabbed his guitar, making his way to the outside of the building.

He started the long walk across the residential quad, which all of the dorms overlooked.

Danni just so happened to glance at her window as she the skateboard down and practically squealed when she saw the guitar case. She rushed over to it, yanking it open and looking down slightly at the boy carrying it. "Hey!" she yelled, but then became unsure if he would look. "Cute boy with the guitar case! Over here!" She cried out, waving her arm in the air in hopes of catching the boy's attention.

She had completely forgotten about Ally for a moment, just concerned with bringing that boy over to her window and getting him to play a little so she could see if he was band material or not. @Vicander

Lucas was halfway across the quad when he heard a girl's voice, probably just another excited freshman cutting around with her friends. But when the girl mentioned a guitar, he stopped and looked around for the origin of the noise. His ears found the voice in one of the lower classmen dorms, where freshmen and sophomores resided.

A girl with bright, dyed hair peeked out of a window.

"Hi," he called up to her as he approached the building, "What do you need? I'm in a little bit of a hurry."

"Play something! Right now! I don't care what just shred a little for me," she commanded, her smile bright as she waited for him. She was excited. "Please do show off," she added, wanting to see what he could do. If he was good then her band was complete and they could start doing band things together like getting coffee, sleepovers, studio practices. She zoned out in her excitement.

But then she quickly snapped out of it, looking down at the boy and tapping her fingers against the window sill. "I can give you a beat if you want something to go off, if not then let's see what you got," she said, not bothering to tell him why she was asking this of him. Not yet anyways, not until she knew. @Vicander

Lucas shrugged and set his guitar down on the ground, kneeling over it to take it out of the case. Maybe the freshie just wanted a concert.

"No need," he said, putting the guitar strap over his shoulder, "I'll make the beat myself."

Lucas tuned the guitar by ear, played a couple scales to warm up his fingers, and started lightly hitting the body of the guitar in a steady rhythm. Then he opened his mouth and replaced the beat with a strumming pattern, singing one of his favorites: Thinking Out Loud, Ed Sheeran. He naturally riffed and belted, swaying with the guitar, hitting a few runs.

"So baby now, take me into your loving arms, kiss me under the light of a thousand stars..."

The singer finished off the song with a sweet little guitar riff, and looked up.

"How'd you like it, freshie?"

"I'm a Sophomore," she corrected. "But I give it an eight out of ten. You're in the band. Meet back at my dorm when you're done doing whatever you're in a rush to do and we can talk about what your role will be," she waved and started back inside the dorm, though she left the window open now.

She finished making her bed, waiting for a response to the most likely startling news, moving a bit slower as she fluffed her pillows up on the head of the bed which was against the window. She peeked out of it at him.

Lucas' mouth dropped in awe. "Hey!" He shouted as she disappeared from the window, "Freshie! Get back here!"

He put his guitar away in a hurry, closing the latches on the case with two clicks, and sighed in relief when he saw her face appear in the window again.

"Who said I wanted to be in your band?" On what earth did a sophomore think an upper class man would want to join a silly band for?

Danni sighed, hopping out the window and easily landing the two foot drop. She pulled her drumsticks out of her back pocket and knocked them against his head lightly. "Sophomore- or, if you want to be politically correct, Danni." She tapped her drum sticks together in a beat, something she always did to release the excess amount of energy she held.

"And I know you want to be in my band because it's going to be successful and you'll be rich and famous and have a bunch of hot chicks who want to do all kinds of fun things to you. Did I mentioned the rich part?" She chuckled and looked up at him. "Oh and let's not forget the bond we'll create," she added mockingly, keeping a smile on her face.

Lucas made an aggravated face and waved the drumsticks out of his way. "You're cute," he answered, eyeing her from head to toe. Quite attractive. For a sophomore.

"But I don't have time for that. I need to focus on my career, not tramping around with a stupid band."

He turned and started walking to the other side of the quad.

"Good luck, Daniel," he called behind him, hoping she wouldn't follow.

"Hold up, you're not just allowed to call me cute, get my name wrong, and deny my supreme commands!" She raced after him, grabbing his wrist and yanking back a bit to hold him in place. "Look, let's take a logical look at this. Three members are better than a solo gig. You have back-up vocals, guitar, and drums all at the ready without having to do all the pre-recording shit. You have fresh new ideas. And statically, bands are more popular than solo artists. Unless you're Taylor Swift but I don't see bright blonde hair or a long line of ex-boyfriends. Come on, just try it out," she insisted.

Danni was persistent when she got an idea, and he was her idea. She wanted him and therefore she would do what it took to get him. "I'll let you make one request. I don't care what it is. I will do it. It'll be like your payment to get in the band," she added, her words making it sound like the sky was the limit for what she would do, which in all honesty, it was. Anything was on the table.

Lucas sighed, pulling his wrist away from her grasp. The girl was right. A band made the recording process ten times easier. And it did help to have multiple people in it for advertising and campaign reasons.

"Listen to me, Darrel. My request is this. I will join your band if you promise to be mature, logical, and optimistic of the process. You cannot and will not treat the band with disrespect. We are here to make music, not mud pies. If your freshmen friends start goofing off, I'm out."

His patience tolerance was starting out low for now. He did not have the time to fool around. If everything else failed, he could just hire a band.

"Are you serious?" Danni laughed, shaking her head. "Of course I'm going to take it seriously. I'm starting this band. Although if I'm going to take this seriously that means you have to too. So call me Danni. And if you call me or my friends freshmen one more time I will brand you," she added, her voice becoming menacing.

Danni then replaced her almost-glare with a smile. "Alright, see you in a few. Be thinking of band names and all that other stuff! Bye Malik!" She called, giving him her own degrading nickname as she walked away.

Lucas watched her go, rendered speechless from the nickname she had fired at him. Damn. That little strawberry really knew how to strike a nerve.

Picking up his guitar case, he walked briskly to the recording studios.

(Aaaaand we wait. @McMajestic )

"Job, huh." Darrel muttered partially to herself. She had always wanted to pursue a career in theater or music but she would only be able to convince her parents to let her by showing them she'll be better off composing.

"Melodic percussion?" She chuckled. "Gee, I've played the xylophone before but I don't really like to feeling of playing it." She paused to think and scanned the room for melodic percussion instruments she could play.

"Is the piano melodic percussion? I think it is. In that case, yes. I can. The piano was the first instrument I learnt. Well, self-taught." She told him.

"Sorry I'm rambling. Bad habit. What kind of instruments do you prefer? Personally I prefer strings."

Rufus looked up to Darrel "Yeah, Job I prefer the vibraphone, and the piano is also some kind of strings.." he continued with writing and walked to the marimba to find the right cords "Could you play an Aminor on the piano?"

@Garnet

"Sure thing." Darrel replied, pulling the piano cover away. She played the chord and glanced back at him to see if he got it. Meanwhile, she began to wonder about the extra-curricular activities her parents had urged her to join. Seeing as Rufus was a music student, he may have a few ideas or recommendations for which to join.

"Rufus? Would you suggest any music clubs? I really need to join one."

Rufus thought for a moment "Maybe the composing club? Dunno if it excists but it could be possible, Eminor?" He changed the four mallets and played the Eminor. He virbrophone sounded a little bit strange.

@Garnet

Darrel struck the chord with both hands without hesitation.

"Don't we already do composition? It's the whole point of music school. Well, that and performance. I was thinking something a little more specific, like an ensemble or jazz club. Do we have those?" She asked him, turning around. As Rufus played the vibraphone, she cringed slightly at the sound.

"I think one of the bars maybe off." She informed him rather unhelpfully.

"Yeah, there is something wrong with the E, however, there is a Jazz club and an ensamble if i recall correct" he walked back to his score and wrote down the right cords "I'm in both, nah, I singed up for both" he took out his drumsticks and tried out some rhythms, the first sounded like the marching rhythm, the other were simply rhythms.

Ally watched in amazement as Danni called out to a total stranger and starting making demands of him. Not only did she think Danni brave for that but it turned out the boy was an upperclassman too. She didn't quite listen to their conversation as she thought it would be rude so she sat down on the bed again and opened her journal again. She wrote a few ideas down while she waited for Danni who had seemingly forgot her existence. @McMajestic

When Amelia had hooked her arm around Travis's he smiled at her. He didn't actually expect her to do that given that the move was pretty cheesy but she did so he shrugged it off. He led her through the halls crowded with people noticing a few glares going in Amelia's direction. People were probably already gossiping about them being a couple. Travis rolled his eyes at the drama unfolding before turning his attention to the girl by his side. "So tell me about yourself Amelia." he said casually. @Amelia White

Danni hopped back through the window and somersaulted to her feet. "Bam, I'm good. We have a band now. Anyways, so back to my questions, think your cousin can really hook us up?" she asked Ally, smiling brightly at her as she stood close to her bed. "I'll have to meet him sometime, too, especially if you say he's manager material?" Danni raised an eyebrow, waiting for an answer. @PenguinFox
