  Otto is, to be quite frank, rather spontaneous. Sometimes he's sitting and being calm and relaxed, other times he is up on his feet and could keep anyone around him on their toes. You can get along with him if you're able to keep up with his enthusiasm and the fact that he can go from sitting down to not being able to sit still. Boredom tends to set in very easily with Otto, he is a person who needs something to keep him occupied. Otto tends to goof off and be on the more comical side. He's funny, tries to make people laugh and smile.

    Sloane lives and breathes the Gryffindor name: boyhood and bravery clenched in his teeth, haughty laughter, and arrogance in spades. Akin to an itch you can't scratch, they have a way of getting under people's skin, a mouth of red-hot words to set fire to rain. Anger fizzes beneath their skin, cynicism spitting from a mouth of smiling teeth. Impish and impervious, with a waning smirk that screams "you have no idea what you're getting yourself into". The quintessential Manic Pixie Dream Boy, something about them seems too good to be true. To those who pass Sloane in the halls, he's the perfect prefect. Two-faced to teachers and students alike, many wonder where the acting starts and the real Sloane begins. Master of bullshitting, they made quite a name for themselves in their years at Hogwarts. Acting normal is one thing, being normal is another. Most people who know of Sloane would describe him as infamous, for what, they're not quite sure.
    
    An advocate of act first, think later, Sloane carries himself with an air of "I know what I'm doing", even if they have no idea what to do. Headstrong and heedless, with a temperament that takes button pushing to gain any retention. Fickle confidence is a malformed abomination that shields insecurity; it's easier to hurt others before they hurt you themselves. That is not to say Sloane is all show, beneath their reservations and crude cut dramatizations is someone who yearns to feel a human connection. A softer side of Sloane is one foreign to both himself and others but shows itself in smaller ways. Letting someone off with a warning during curfew patrol, and saving a seat for someone during meals, his actions speak louder than words.
    
    In the lull of Hogwarts ins and outs, Sloane's presence in the halls is surprisingly serene. To those who don't know him, they are exactly what people want them to see.     For as long as Sloane can remember, life has always been: work, work, work. He is the product of an unhappy marriage, and as a result, grew up as an unhappy child. Primarily raised under the roof of a crammed studio apartment, his childhood is somewhat of a chaotic one. Growing up wasn't easy in a separated household where one essentially learns to raise themselves. Sloane's mother, Saoirse is a full-blood witch and former Ravenclaw, who ran off after graduation to be with her muggle lover. Callum Lynch, their father, is a Scott who came to England looking to settle down and start a new life, and bit off more than he could chew.
    
    Although the couple agreed to raise their son with both parents, the two eventually separated before Sloane's fourth birthday. Raised between two households over the course of seven years was a lot for Sloane- two birthdays, two Christmases, juggled between two households that did their best to raise him with what they had. He was never raised surrounded by magic, but was aware of it through his mother's side of the family that pushed them to eventually go to Hogwarts after receiving his acceptance letter shortly after his eleventh birthday.
    
    The past six years have been a whirlwind of sleepless nights and early mornings, all of which have gotten him to his position as Gryffindor prefect in his seventh year. For his first three years of Hogwarts, things were mostly tame. Friends were few and far between, and most of his free time is dedicated to keeping high enough marks to fly under teacher's radars.     Rooted in good old-fashioned cynicism, Benison truly is a muggle man living in a wizard's world. Apathetic at best and an asshole at worst, warming up to Ben's cut-and-dry sense of humor takes time. He has no qualms about speaking his mind, whether the situation garners it or not- and makes no apology for the way he was raised. It's rare to find him using magic of any sort in his day-to-day life, going so far as to only use his wand as a pointer for his board. Pessimism rolls off of him in waves, a bitter pill for some to swallow. Behind a sly smirk and a sip of coffee, lies some sense of humor and ambition, dwindled only by the threat of his 40s.
    
    An intelligent man, his relationship with many of his students is an open door policy, eager to answer any questions they might have, save for occasional bouts of sarcasm. He hardly lives up to the rumors circling about him around Hogwarts, as a hard grader and an even harder teacher. Much of his class consists of discussion, little reading, and relies mostly on a kid's willingness to participate. His classroom is labeled as a magic-free zone, where students put their wands in a pail and retrieve them at the end of class. His laidback way of teaching can almost seem misleading at first, but he has a love for opening young eyes to the wider world around them, to a world where magic doesn't give way to cut corners.
    
    To his colleagues and other professors, Ben is the gum on your shoe you can't just scrape off. He's here, whether you like it or not, and if he isn't in his office, he's likely in the staff room, lounging in one of the cushy, velvet chairs reading a novel or binge-watching a Netflix show. Always one to make small talk, he isn't the first person in the room to scrape below the surface, more than happy to just keep things casual. Unsurprisingly reserved, talking about himself takes more than just gentle prodding. A few drinks in, though, and he has enough stories worthy of true Benison Gansey lore, wild antics in his teen years that tell a much different story of what he was like before marrying his ex-wife. Bits and pieces come together to form a cracked image of composure, no stranger to an empty home.
    
    Although rather callous at times, Ben knows there's a time and a place for his misplaced cynicism, and hardly stomachs conflict. He strives to be a good role model for his students and a good person, even if he falls short at both sometimes.

    Benison James Gansey is the youngest child of four, only son to Noam and Ruth Gansey. With a fifteen year difference between him and his youngest-older sister, Ben was essentially raised as an only child. Considered a miracle baby by his father, a proud Jewish man and boxing trainer, he and his wife raised Ben despite a looming case of empty-nest syndrome. His siblings came in and out of the house throughout his childhood, and though distant, his sisters are extremely overprotective over their baby brother, even to this day.
    
    There was no such thing as magic in the Gansey household. Ben was taught at a young age that there was no such thing as "Santa", the Easter Bunny, or the Tooth Fairy. Magic was for the movies- any speak of it earned him the slap of a wooden spoon at the dinner table. Growing up in England, Ben grew up in the shadow of his sisters' achievements: head cheerleader, student council, his mother was confident her son would follow in their footsteps. Unfortunately, this would never come to fruition, as nearing his twelfth birthday, Ben received a letter for Hogwarts, unwarranted as he had never before displayed any magic traits.     Ben's years at Hogwarts are some of the most eventful of his life- being sorted into Ravenclaw, graduating at the top of his class, and excelling most in the class he teaches now- muggle studies. His old professors will tell you Ben was quite the troublemaker during his time. But the most memorable of his time there is the relationships he made- namely, his ex-wife. Alejandra DiMaria, a Hufflepuff student in his grade that he met during his fourth year. Alejandra brought Ben out of his shell, pushed him to stay out past curfew and brought magic into his life. The pair eloped shortly after graduation, and settled down together in Scotland, in a dream home the two pinched pennies to afford. The only thing needed to tie a bow on their twenties was the one thing Alejandra wanted most: children. But tragedy seems to strike most when it's least needed, and having children was deemed impossible after Ben was diagnosed with infertility.
    
    From there, their marriage was a downward spiral- they loved each other dearly, but Alejandra held reality over their heads. From there, the flame fizzled and died out, and the final years of their marriage was spent living together in the same house, but sleeping in separate bedrooms. It was no surprise to Ben when his wife left him, returning home one night to an empty house. Selling the house and returning to England was the only thing to distract from being single in his early thirties. Boggart:
That changes - but at the same time remains consistent. When he has a bad dream that seems even remotely possible, the boggart reminds him of it - taking the form of the thing he fears might happen.

Favourite classes:
Divination, Advanced Arithmancy Studies, Ancient Studies, Study of Ancient Runes, Alchemy, Care of Magical Creatures. While those are his favourites, he's one of those people that are just naturally good at all of their subjects - and though he doesn't feel the need to flaunt it, his marks definitely reflect that, always putting him at the top of the class.

Disliked classes:
Herbology, mostly. It's not that he's bad at it - not at all - and he definitely enjoys learning about different plants, and just being around them... But getting dirty while taking care of them is not exactly his favourite way to spend an hour or two.
Beyond that, back during his first year, he considered flying lessons a waste of his time - though he understood why they were necessary in general. He dropped them as soon as he could.

Pet:
Technically, he has three, but only one that he brings to the castle with him, while the others stay at home. The one that gets to come along is Nyx, a large, black, fluffy Maine Coon. He likes having a pet named after a powerful deity. It's amusing to think about Zeus fearing Nyx when she keeps meowing for food or attention.

Personality:
Knowledge-driven - as his House would suggest. He likes to learn, and the harder it is to obtain a piece of information, the less people know about it - the better. He wants to discover and rediscover secrets, the strange and the powerful ones, though not necessarily to use them; it really is about knowing, about this hunger inside him, and the fascination with what the unknown brings. While he wouldn't exactly set the world on fire to figure out how it would burn - it's more fun to speculate about that anyway - he is willing to take calculated risks. He just has enough common sense to know when he really needs to stop. There are bridges you just don't cross.
His relationship with his dreams - and other related abilities - is complicated. He fully believes in them, that's for sure; that becomes a problem when even a completely normal nightmare might potentially be - in his mind - a vision of the future. Generally, he seems rather flippant about it, and has no qualms about lying to someone without even trying to make a reading for them - to scare them a bit, to tease them, to make them feel better about something - but inside? Oh, he cares. He's very meticulous while cataloguing the things he suspects to be true, and thankfully he has great memory, so he usually manages to save most of the details.
He's generally a peaceful person and doesn't look for conflict on his own... Until someone starts it with him or with someone around him that he decides to defend. It doesn't even need to be a friend of his, to be honest; he might try to help out of boredom, for example. Even then, however, he remains outwardly calm and in control, slightly amused, and stays away from actual violence if he can help it; his weapon of choice is his tongue, his main strategy - embarrassing the enemy. That doesn't mean that he doesn't genuinely like to tease people, though - without aiming to actually hurt them.
Flirting - he considers acceptable, though it's almost never serious. He doesn't even want serious. He doesn't deal with emotions well enough for that, doesn't enjoy physical contact - not with humans that aren't his family - and, to be honest, it makes him uncomfortable to watch open displays of affection happen near him. Hugging someone? No, thank you. Bringing them a gift they need and making sure they either don't know it's from him or don't think it's a big deal? Yes, that works for him.
He does like people in general, though. He just... Doesn't like being close to them, physically and emotionally. It's different with animals - especially horses. Specifically, winged horses that his family breeds and raises. He has one as his own, back at home of course, named Sigrun. Then there is his cat of course - and a horned owl called Orpheus that is not technically only his, but does bring him letters from his parents from time to time... Yes, animals are nice.

Backstory:
Despite having once attended Hogwarts themselves, Artemis' parents left England many years ago. They settled down in France, making use of the fact that they had family and estates in various parts of it. Artemis was very young at that point and his siblings were all born already there - so France was really their first home, even though they travelled quite a lot.
Since the magical education in France begins a few years earlier than in the UK, Artemis went to Beauxbatons for a while - before a letter from Hogwarts made it obvious that, technically, he could still be accepted there. After some serious discussion, his parents decided to move back, since they had already been thinking about doing so before and simply lacked a good enough reason to go... Not that they had to completely abandon France, of course.
Still, Artemis got to switch schools - and the new one was... Exciting in some ways, for sure, but also not that engaging for a person with some previous experience. He didn't really connect with other children, part of the reason for that being the fact that the things he knew from Beauxbatons probably made him seem like a know-it-all even in Ravenclaw... And then there was the other stuff he knew. No, it wasn't easy at first.
With time, he learnt to care less about it and to focus more on loose acquaintances and House solidarity - than on trying to make actual friends or forge bonds. At least Ravenclaw, as a place full of individualists, suited him just fine.

Family situation:
Artemis' family comes mostly from Germany and France, though by this point branches of it have spread around the world... Well, mostly around Europe. Currently, his parents switch between England and France, and so the same goes for him - when he's home, at least - and his younger siblings.
Because of the above, his family's influence is the strongest in Germany and France, though - as rich pure-bloods - its members are considered relatively important everywhere. Furthermore, his family is known for its talented seers; of course not every single relative he has can see the future, but it does happen often enough to be a pattern. There is usually one for each generation, sometimes skipping one or two. Those seers are one of the reasons why the family is so wealthy; it's easy to make the right financial decisions when you or someone close to you can foretell their results, after all.

Hobbies, interests, skills:
Uncovering secrets is not Artemis' only hobby... Though it is one of his favourite pastimes. Reading, of course, counts among them as well, but he actually prefers writing over it. What might come as a bigger surprise to people that don't know him well is that he enjoys drawing and painting even more - as well as several other artistic activities.
When it comes to sports, he's mostly interested in his horses - flying horses, to be exact, the ones that his family keeps. He can use a broom, but it's just not his first choice, and besides he doesn't care about Quidditch at all; if he had to choose anything to do with brooms, then it would be racing. Or, better yet, casual flights. Swimming is relaxing enough for him, so he likes it... Other than that, he's fine with gymnastics, but not a huge fan of it.
Outside of all of that, Artemis was taught a couple of things that were simply... Expected of him. Those include calligraphy, for example, playing piano, and singing, but also dancing - ballroom dancing - which he despises. He can do it, but he doesn't. It just feels too... Undignified to him.
Since his natural ability allows him to see visions of the future - both in dreams and while awake - as well as actually receive true signs and omens through means like cartomancy, crystal-gazing, tessomancy, and so on, he was also taught Occlumency... Which is something most of his family goes through.

Appearance:
Six feet tall, slender, with lean muscles, Artemis is clearly built more for speed and agility than brute strength... Which should not be surprising to those that know his preferred sport. His skin is pale - and occasionally scratched by his cat, which he doesn't really mind. High cheekbones, straight nose, big blue eyes, elegant clavicles, and long fingers - among other features - are all his mother's gifts for him. His hair is blond, slightly wavy, and generally pushed back; kept not short, but not too long, either, reaching maybe about halfway down his neck or a bit further. His left ear is pierced and he usually wears a simple golden hoop earring in it; other than that, he almost always has the family ring on his finger. Most of the time, he dresses in black-and-white monochrome, excluding the obligatory blue and bronze accents of his Ravenclaw robes.

    Backstory:
    Boreas was born to the pure blood witch Skadi Winterborne and the muggle Delvez Johnson in New York City. Skadi hid her magic from Delvez through majority of their marriage and only revealed this secret upon Boreas’ Hogwarts letter arrived all the way from Europe. Delvez, being a man of Christian faith, deemed them both devils and from then on they would be faced with slander and abuse. Skadi secretly took Boreas to England to obtain his first one like she had done when she was a kid and upon finding this out, Delvez stole the wand from Boreas and snapped it in half, unknowingly creating Boreas’ boggart. In a fit of rage Skadi drew her wand and blasted the man into a wall before collecting her son and fleeing the country.
    
    
    
    The pair wound up in England at Skadi’s childhood home known as north storm manor which happened to be the ancestral home of the Winterborne family. The Winterbornes did not take kindly to Skadi having a halfblood son and demanded that he prove his worth as a wizard or be banished from the household. Skadi took her son to get a new one and then returned with him in tow. Boreas stepped in front of the family and held his wand out the way he had seen his mother do hundreds of time and repeated a spell she used to show him when he was younger “Lumos Solem” he flicked the wand and a stream of bright light came flooding into the room nearly blinding all those present. The family decided to look past his blood status and returned all of his birth rights, the most important being that he would become lord of the manor when he comes of age.
    
    
    
    Soon after Boreas started his journey to Hogwarts, he was sorted into Ravenclaw though it wasn’t much of a surprise seeing as his family comes from a long line ravenclaws. He excelled through school and by his fifth year he decided he wanted to become an Animagus like his mother and thus began the long process. After acquiring his Animagus powers, he began to study transfiguration more heavily with the goal of one day teaching transfiguration at Hogwarts.

    Nathaniel, born to Adora and Samuel Grimmrose, raised in Florida for part of his whilst his family struggled to keep his magic secret from the prying eyes of the nosey Florida natives due to to Nathaniel’s strange and rare ability to change his appearance at will as well as the even more uncommon ability of being a parselmouth. Around his 10th birthday, his father decided to move the family back to his ancestral home in the Scottish countryside where the family could live in peace, Samuel working with magical animals and Adora becoming the muggle studies professor at Hogwarts.
    Years went by and Nate eventually received his hogwarts letter, and headed off to attend his first year where he would learn more about his heritage and the strange powers he possessed that other wizards didn’t. During his ceremony, the sorting hat stalled between placing him in Slytherin and Ravenclaw with Nate ultimately deciding to choose slytherin as a way to unlock more knowledge about his parseltounge abilities. During his time at Hogwarts, Nate became well versed in advanced transfigurations and charms with his metamorphmagus powers aiding him in this endeavor. By his final year at Hogwarts, he was invited to apply for the position of an Auror as they believed his unique abilities would help well with espionage within both the muggle and magical communities.
    Nate went on to be an auror for almost 20 years before applying to the vacant transfiguration professorship as a way to honor his mother who had passed from old age earlier that year.

  The relationship with Jae's co-worker is a little odd. Derek befriended a random crow during his first year of teaching, not knowing it was Jae in his animagus form, and has yet to find out.   a brief overview

  With a vile man of a father who dabbled in tainted magic, his mother suffered a sore married life. When Jae-Suk was born, she hoped things would change, if anything they only got worse. By the time Jae was five years old, she knew he would not be able to flourish in such an environment and took action, relocating herself and her son from Korea to England. They lived a much better life there and her son was able to experience growing amongst a much bigger magical world.
  
  Around the time Jae’s accidental magic was getting out of hand, an owl had arrived with a pristine envelope in its beak. Inside, a letter from Hogwarts, signifying his acceptance to the magical school. While he was a little scared to leave home, his mother was ecstatic, making sure he had every little he would need and then some.
  
  The years spent at Hogwarts exposed him to a plethora of things he enjoyed, from collecting magical trinkets to reading the most intriguing books. Though he wasn’t as social as others, he fit in fine with his housemates and rarely had problems with others. While his best classes were Arithmancy and Potions, he was rather fond of Charms and learning the different uses of magic. His academics led him to his career as a Curse-Breaker.
  
  Being a Curse-Breaker was enriching for Jae, not only did he get to travel around to the oddest of places, he also got to interact with intricate magic and keep some of the smaller objects the bank saw as invaluable. Although a good job, to say it was simple work would be a lie; there’s plenty of times he got severely wounded, worn out, and learned far too much about himself. At the age of twenty-eight, he decided to retire after a particularly bad case landed him in St Mungo’s for a few months. After getting released from St Mungo’s he applied for a recently opened position at Hogwarts for a Charms professor, a subject he once adored.

  When Alenia was 6 years old, she found out she could speak to snakes, which was fine with her. She had no friends on the island, as her parents didn't want her mother to be found out due to her unusual inheritance. When Nia was 8 years old, Enoa became very sick and passed away. Her father became distant and cold, even more so when he found out his daughter was a parselmouth. Nia bares the emotional scares quietly, though she hates that her father ignores her. Her only friend was a gorgeous snake she found on a hike around the island. When she was 10, Nia made food and cleaned the house daily. When she got her Hogwarts letter at 11 years old, she immediately left the house to head to Gringotts. While there, she got an inheritance test - where it said she was indeed like her mother and when she reached her majority, she would have a creature inheritance. Her first year wasn't very exciting, just some small things here and there with a few mishaps. She much enjoyed the Care of Magical Creatures Class, especially after finding she had an affinity for creatures and that she liked being outside. Her following years continued much the same. After her first year was completed, the girl chose to head to the Maldives, where her mother had a small mansion hidden from everyone along the coast. Which suited the young witch just fine. As she did, she noted the subtle differences, such as her enhanced hearing, her senses attuned to the nature around her more, and her longer hair. She looked in a mirror and noted her silver eyes had become more of a mercury-dipped silver-blue color, and now she had to head to her 6th year at Hogwarts and try to hide her inheritance.   Born in England to muggle parents, Henry inherited his magic abilities from a distant Squib relative. He began manifesting his magic during his childhood, playing pranks and scaring his neighbors. His first years were tough, but with enough study and hard work he survived five years.

Backstory/History :

Born into the Arcelium line and the eldest child too, Dianthus was meant to uphold the family's name with dignity .
But that didn't happen.
From an early age, it became painfully apparent that Dianthus had barely any attunement to magic.
There was even concern that he was a squib when he didn't exhibit any magical ability at the age that was expected for magic to appear. It would be around this time- as his mother and Father argued about what they should do if Dianthus turned out to be a squib- that his feelings of selfhatred set its roots. He was a child raised to believe that his bloodline should have made him powerful. And in a family that valued magic as much as the Arcelium did, the fact he could not was a source of humiliation for them. He was shunned and made to feel there was something wrong with him.

A few years would pass and when Dianthus still failed to meet their expectations, his parents turned all their attention onto his younger sibling instead. Ironically, where Dianthus fumbled like a fish out of water when trying to cast a simple spell, his sibling excelled at it.

Although having to shoulder the weight of their parent’s expectations must be a source of struggle for his younger sibling; Dianthus would still feel a sense of bitterness. He kept it bottled up, unwilling to let envy cause him to show hostility to his sibling. Instead, he made an effort to encourage them.

Presently, Dianthus still tries to earn his parent’s approval. But even an outsider could see that no matter how many exams Dianthus aced on the theoretical side of magic, it would be as good as waving an empty piece of paper in his parent’s faces. It wouldn’t matter to them.

Pet
Just an owl which he is wary of. He isn't sure what he did but the owl doesn't like him. Also due to his pet , he has developed a slight fear of this species but he keeps it because it was a gift.
