Fandom Hogwarts: First years!

David got in a canoe and waved towards Aralin and Mia. "Over here!" He said and then started to look for a paddle entirely ignorant of the scenery. "Where's the paddle?" He murmured to himself looking for it.

Mia's face lit up as she saw David hopping into one of the boats. It was her turn into dragging someone. She took hold of Aralins arm and took her along towards the canoe with and sat herself down. She was full of excitement and it was clear to see by the lilac colour her hair had changed to. Gazing round at the water and the lanterns all around. Mia felt as if she was in her own little world of magic, she turned to David and giggled at his comment. "They don't need paddles, silly." She couldn't help but softly stroke the stomach of her falcon before looking back to David. "Think about where you are!"

I'm not sure Elliot, but you seem to like learning things. You have a very curious nature to you." Joseph said giving Elliot a playful smile. He bumped her shoulder with his, and gave her a smirk. "So with my knowledge I bet you get put into Ravenclaw." Joseph said as he smiled, and poked Elliot's cheek. He then pulled a pack of sourpatch kids gum out of his pocket, and offered a piece to each of the girls. "Sorry I didn't know if you guys had this kind of gum here." Joseph said as he blushed, and rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.

Aralin smiled gleefully as she was dragged onto the boat. When Mia said that there was no paddles needed she felt herself well up with wonder and leaned her whole body out of the boat to stare into the water illuminated by the lantern. Her quick movement caused the whole canoe to rock violently for a moment and she fell onto her back in a ungraceful heap laughing at her self freely. "Sorry guys!" She said through her laughter as she pulled herself upright in the boat. "I just can't believe it, everything is so amazing and I'm not ever there yet!" She had a big grin on her face and her eyes shone and danced, a perfect reflection of the lantern's light as she looked forwards to Hogwarts castle.

Eyes closed and listening to the sound of the river, Mia was at peace in the new place she'd come to. That was of-course until the boat rocked and she fell backwards with Aralin. She couldn't help but laugh rather loudly as Koel flew up hovering above them. She pulled herself back and looked to Aralin and David in turn and smiled as Koel perched back to her shoulder. " I wonder when we're gonna leave, and what will happen when we get there. I hope there's food. I'd really like some chicken right about now." Mias attention had turned to her stomach. She didn't bother buying anything on the train, thinking she'd save herself until they got to Hogwarts.

Andromeda Malfoy

Andromeda looked between the two and sighed before looking up at the school, a small smirk appearing on her lips as she listened to Elliot's comment about Hogwarts " it's not so inviting on the inside either." Which was true, at Hogwarts the had a strict curfew that students were required to adhere to. Of course it was  meant to protect the students  but overall it was a pain in the butt.  She nodded as Joseph gave his input on where he believed Elliot would be placed. " That would be my guess. I already know where I will be placed. As for you Joseph I feel the sorting hat will have its time with you. Plus you don't always have to take the hats advice. It can be persuaded."  It was obvious her knowledge of hogwarts was extensive although that was only because both her sister and brother had already  gone through the school.

"What do you mean by the sorting hat will have its time with me??" Joseph asked innocently and tilted his head to the side and got his lip. Joseph looked into Andromeda's eyes with his puppy dog ones. Joseph wasn't confused he knew what Andromeda meant, but he like her, and played dumb. Joseph flashed Andromeda a innocent smiled, bumped his shoulder gently into Elliot's and gave her a smile too.

Andromeda sighed and brushed a strand of hair away from her eyes as she looked atound before going back to Joseph. "I said it would have its time with you. Time. As in it will have to dig through what you wish for people to believe  to see who you truly are. The characteristics you have shown us I would think your a hufflepuff but then again you could only be faking this." Andromedas words came out sounding slightly annoyed, which she was but it did not have anything to do with them. She was growing agitated that no one had called the boats in. She looked over at Elliot and chuckled. "You remind me of a young Newt Scamander." Which was true, the girls fascination with animals could almost challenge Scamanders love of mythical creatures.

Elliott listened most closely as the two conversed about the houses. She wasn't sure where she would go, but she had to agree she did enjoy learning and retained information like a sponge, so maybe Andromeda was right, maybe she would be a Ravenclaw. She bit her lip and smiled sheepishly at the pair.

"Well, to be honest, I don't care, but I think I'd like to be with you guys! You're the first friends I've made!" She giggled a little at Joseph's innocent face. She was a bit dense, she would admit, when it came to human expressions, but even SHE could tell Joseph was fooling! "Oh, Joseph!! You're a dreadful tease!" She laughed, her feet jangling together in the bottom of the boat. When Andromeda likened her to Newt Scamander, her eyes widened as far as they could go, and her mouth dropped into a gasp of wonderment.

"D'you really think so?! I've read ALL his books, and everything about him, including his travels all over the world looking for fantastical Beasts!!" She was almost physically bouncing in her seat. Behind her hair, irritated tooting sounded as Jeremiah was jangled about as she twitched excitedly.

Andromeda chuckled as she listened to Elliot shaking her head as she sighed. "Trust me you would not fit in with Slytherin. Honestly you would stick out like a sore thumb." Shrugging her shoulders she looked back out at the school, everybow and then she would get a chill down her spine, causing her to shake. She lift an eyebrow at Elliot's mention of Joseph joking. Was he really joking? Andromeda knew she struggled to read facial ques but she still felt slightly ridiculous for believing he was serious.

Andromeda nodded. "I'm always serious." She wouldn't have said something that wasn't true. "Even though his books and lectures have opened the eyes of the magical world I do believe we need another like Scamander to help push through and expand our knowledge." The way the wizards and witches viewed magical beasts where no where near what Andromeda believed they should be.

David realize that he didn't introduce himself and said to Mia "I'm sorry but I forgot to introduce myself. I'm David and for giving you a bad first name you can call me whatever you want." He then tried to act cool by sitting on the edge of the boat only to fall in the water.

Joseph just gave a laugh at the two girls interactions. "Well I guess I will have to get Andromeda to lighten up then. You know Elliot, I think you might be on to something. I suggest a game. If you two can figure out if I'm faking or not. I might be, and I might not. I will give you guys clues to whether you are getting warmer or colder." Joseph said as his face took on an innocent smirk, even he stormy blue eyes held genuine amusement. "So that's the game if you figure it out I will have to spend a day with each of you. Whether it be one on one, or as a group. That or you can pick what each of you want. If you don't get it right lets say in about 3 days then I get to pick something deal??" Joseph said as he raised one of his in a challenging way.

Elliott couldn't help but be confused by this game the American suggested. She frowned a little, her white blond eyebrows puckering in the middle, her dark eyes narrowing at him. Why did he offer himself

up as a prize. They were friends now, after all, so why did he feel he should be considered a prize to spend further time with? She worked her mouth, trying to think through an answer to him that wouldn't come across as wholly rude.

"I'm not sure I understand..." Elliott began, gingerly. They were, after all, in a little boat, and if her answer upset him, she didn't want a playful, or meaningful, for that matter, shove sending her overboard to meet with the lake's rumoured squid face-to-face!! "Are we not friends now? Surely we will be meeting in class too? Why would getting this quiz right mean we can hang out as friends?" Her naivety shown through in her curious expression. She was slightly numb now, so she wasn't feeling the cold breeze as keenly, and so she was finally able to relax slightly, letting her hands drop into her lap, her cloak loosening a little around her.

She was slightly confused by these two. They were such extremes of people, and yet they both spoke of the Slytherin house like it was their destiny to be in it. Why were they so sure? Well, Andromeda, she supposed, was bound to be, as per her family name, but this American. He didn't seem like a Slytherin to her at all. Like he said, he seemed like a Hufflepuff, but Elliott knew bluffing when she saw it; the doxy she had rescued when her family's farm house was being redecorated was a nasty one for a bluff before he tried to bite!! She kind of got the same feeling from Joseph.

Andromeda looked between Joseph and Elliot as she shook her head. " I do not like this game. I'm terrible at reading social cues. This I most definitely will not win." She plainly stated Andromeda was never one to go into something she knew she would lose. Looking over at Elliot she pursed her lips as she thought about the girl's question. Could they be considered friends? Andromeda didn't hold any dislike for this girl, therefore she could be potential friends. As for the boy, she still questioned his motives. He seemed to be quite the jokester which Andromeda understood was how some people were although the majority of people she had been around since she had grown up were all quite serious, mainly due to their involvement in the ministry of magic. With a sigh Andromeda shrugged as she spoke. "I mean, we're not not friends." SHe really didn't know where she was trying to get at but none the less what was said was said and there was nothing she could do about it.

Aralin lunged forward over Mia and grabbed at David's outreached hand nearly upsetting the boat again. She pulled hard and nearly threw the boy on board not expecting him to be so light because of the water's buoyancy. Aralin gave a nervous sort of chuckle and panted for a moment. "Sorry for the over reaction... I don't really trust this water." Aralin looked around to notice that several of the boats nearby were filled with students watching the trio on the boat curiously. She doubted though they had actually seen anything so much as heard the commotion.

I'm just kidding.  I only wanted an excuse to hang out with you guys more.  I just thought you guys would think I'm weird because I'm from America." Joseph said as he blushed a little. "I didn't think you guys would get me.  That's why I haven't really shown you who I was.  If you look at the cards I fit in with each house." Joseph said as he took off his flannel and wrapped it around Elliot. "You two sure get cold easily." Joseph said as he gave a genuine smile. "The jacket and flannel are yours to keep, and I wdon't take it if you try to give it back." Joseph said as his smile never faltered.

Mia froze like a tree as Aralin lunged across her. Her heart beating like a humming bird as David nearly fell in the water she could barely keep her breathing to herself. She didn't really do anything else at that moment, if Aralin hadn't of grabbed him, there's no wonder to what might have happened. After all, who know what lurked in the dark waters around Hogwarts. There were always rumours of a creatures that would kill anything but Mia had never really thought about it until David nearly fell. "Lets'..not do that again..." Mia sort of stuttered out. Her hand was clenched onto the edge of the boat as her breathing calm down and her eyes closed for a minute or two. "I-I'm Mia.." She finally introduced herself to David once the boat had settled down.

David sat down in the boat and said "That was stupid, I'm stupid, never doing that again. Sorry for the trouble. Nice to meet you Mia." He then noticed the other students looking and waved at them then turned to Aralin and Mia "So what houses do you think were going to be in? I think I'm going to be in Ravenclaw." He said to calm the mood.

"I honestly don't know." Aralin said with a sigh as she hugged her knees against the cold. "I hope we still get to spend time together even if we get sorted into different houses." As Aralin spoke she noticed that the last of the students were boarding the canoes. "Hey, I think we will be leaving soon." Just as she murmured that the boats at the middle began moving towards the castle. Nobody appeared to be rowing the boats and Aralin didn't see anyone about to cast a spell on them. They appeared to move on their own. Soon her own boat began to move forward in a fluid motion, cutting the gentle waves with speed and ease. "Woah... here we go."

(sorry for being the one to move the story but thought it was time)

Alex laughed, I could care less about detentions. You only live once and I will damn well make the best out of it.” He scoffed, carefully putting his owl and trunk into his canoe. His mind was reeling, his first year at Hogwarts! He was finally going to make a difference and maybe be something like that famous man, Harry Potter! ‘I might even be better…’ he thought to himself happily, a smile stretching across his face once more. Alex let out a small gasp as he watched all the other boats start to move forward to the castle, "Get on quick Josh! We're about to go!"

@Sassthetic

"Don't curse!" Josh hissed. "God, you scare me sometimes." He laughed nervously, then followed Alex with his things as they took off in the boat. He had a strange feeling that Alex would get him in trouble.

And another strange feeling that he would enjoy it.

Alex smiled as their boat began to move towards shore, “this is going to be fun.” He chuckled, rocking the canoe slightly. “I wonder if it’d still move if it was tipped,” He said aloud.

Josh's eyes widened, part in surprise and part in terror. "Alex! Don't do that!" His voice was a bit panicky, grabbing Alex's hand and pulling it away so he wouldn't rock the boat.
