Fandom Hogwarts: First years!

Mia had been walking around the separate coaches for a long while. Her small falcon sat on her shoulder giving her a little comfort here and there. She was more nervous than she had ever been before and didn't know if she would fit in. All the seats seemed to be taken and she didn't want to be rude into trying to fit into a large crowd and join the conversation without an invite. But maybe she needed to, to get somewhere with socialising.  Peering into each cabin she saw a David and Aralin sat together. Knocking on the side of the cabin door with her knuckles she stood herself up as her hair changed to an odd shade of blue due to her metamorphmagus.

"Sorry for interrupting, do you mind if me and Koel here join you two?"

Her fingers twisted and turned in her pockets, before pointing to herself and the falcon sat on her shoulder. She was more than nervous now. She was terrified. Biting the edge of her tongue, her cheeks filled bright red.

"Well let's hope we both do good. I don't want to be a dunce forever." Aralin joked self mockingly. Wearing her usual absent minded grin Aralin looked out of the window of the train. For a moment as the scenery passed by in a blur she thought about how far away from her family she was and she felt a pang of worry and home sickness. It would be a long time before she was able to see them again and she had never been away that long. She shook her head slightly and looked across the cab to David. "I wonder how much longer it is?"

As she finished her sentence she heard a knocking at the door and a nervous seeming girl with strange blue hair introduced herself and her falcon. She forgot all about her doubt in an instant as she rocketed herself out of her seat to stand inches away from the girls face and say the first thing that came to mind. "YOUR HAIR IS BLUE?!" She sort of shouted it at the girl. Aralin realized her error and quickly stepped back to a more acceptable distance blushing at her social faux pas.

The sound of an American accent was interesting to Elliott, and she looked around to watch from her seat as Andromeda helped the kid that had made his way through the carriages to theirs. She put her book to the side, and flicked open her case, rummaging around for something to help too. Jeremiah bounced down her arm, tooting, to help look.

"There must be something in here, Jeremiah!" She muttered. Finally, she found a stash of napkins, which were wrapped around a wax paper bundle of cookies her mum had made to offer to potential new friends. "Fantastic!" Elliott rejoiced, closing her case and scurrying over. Dipping her head to Andromeda, with an apologetic smile for being back so soon, she offered some of the napkins to the boy as well.

"Here, I have some paper napkins! I also have some cookies, if you would like one each? Mum says a way to make friends is to offer food. I'm not sure that's necessarily true, but she does make great cookies!!" Elliott's giggle was infectious, as she carefully unwrapped her bundle and opened it, offering the contents first to Andromeda, whilst the boy was working on his phone. The cookies were large, nearly full hand size, with big chunks of chocolate, and they were so chewy, they would start to slowly fold as picked up. Elliott could feel through their wrappings they were still warm! She couldn't wait to take one herself.

"I just wanted to apologise again, for before, Andromeda! I've been told I can be a little in your face. I'll leave you alone again if you want?" She watched the boy and indicated his phone. "What type of mobile is that? My dad never really trusted them, so I wasn't allowed one. My mum had one with games, and music, and all sorts of access to books!! I liked to read using her phone. We didn't tell dad I'd used it. He was worried I'd stick out if I ever turned out to be a witch, and used muggle technology!"

Joseph gave the girls another smile. "Thank you." Joseph wiped off his phone, and stood up. "Thanks for letting me use your handkerchief, and the napkins. I'm sorry if I was a bother." Joseph said with a California accent. Joseph gave the two girls a soft smile, before turning towards the door. "Um its a Galaxy S7." Joseph said a little confused. "Both of you are really pretty by the way." Joseph said blushing a little bit. He started to walked towards the door, before he stopped, and looked at the two girls. "I'm Joseph by the way." He said with a innocent voice, and a small smile, and blush on his face.

Almost falling over from the sudden jack rabbit towards her. Mias hair changed to a shocking shade of yellow before settling back down to it's natural blonde colour as Aralin stepped back. Koel pecked at Mias ears and squawked a few times before resting himself  down on her shoulder in peace. It took a few moments before she almost came back into reality, the quick shock of the girl in-front of her stumped her into what to say or do next. Taking a breath and a good few looks from side to side, she finally settled on Aralin. "Oh, yeah. I was born with a thingy that does that kind of thing." Her fingers beginning to twiddle with the ends of her hair like yarn, she smiled shyly and embarrassed.  "My names Mia by the way. And this is Koel. It's nice to meet you." Almost happy that she got this kind of reaction, she knew she'd fit in a Hogwarts soon enough, just had to get there to know what was coming. Mainly looking forwards to being able fit in with people like her, non-muggles at least. Even though he mother and father were both wizards she was scared, she'd never met anyone with her condition but holding her breath and head held high she'd make it through.

Finally the train came to a slow, but sure stop. Cold was the night, but strong was the spirit within it.

A Man awaited by the river, he was rather tall with an extremely thick beard, he bellowed aloud “Everyone, Please find a canoe and keep all limbs inside at all times!” You quickly follow your new friends to your canoe and finally start your adventure to the castle of Hogwarts!

Alex shot out of his seat at the sound of the train slowing, I think we’re here… He thought to himself excitedly. His heart wouldn’t slow as he quickly grabbed Josh’s hand and pulled him out of his seat, a smile spreading across his features, “We’re here!” He squealed, roughly letting go of josh and darting for his trunk and cage. His owl hooted in protest as he was ripped from his comfortable sleep. “Quite, please?” He whispered, hurriedly. His eyes wide with excitement. “What do you think it’s going to be like?” He wondered aloud, sending a new wave of happiness throughout his small smile.

Zack jumps up, his hype almost causing him to scream. "Ooh, I wonder what it'll be like!" he exclaims, putting his wand away and grabbing his small pack of necessities.

Zack thinks, maybe I'll learn some awesome magic.

Josh was startled when Alex grabbed his hand, but he calmed himself and grabbed his trunk. To answer Alex's question, he replied, "I've heard cool things... Everything sounded really awesome except for Peeves."

“Heh, peeves and I will get along well!” He chuckled, “We can cuss out people together!” He exclaimed, his smile growing even wider. “I think the train actually stop-“ Alex cut himself off as the doors slid open and he galloped out, his hands firmly clenched around his trunk and cage.

Josh followed Alex quickly, trying to keep up with him. "Isn't that a bad idea? What if the professors hear you or something? What about the detentions?"

“Detentions, who cares?” He laughed out loud slowing, he turned towards Josh suddenly serious. “We’re going to be friends, right?” A shy smile slipped across his lips.

Josh nodded. "Of course! But how aren't you worrying about detentions? Aren't you scared of them? I hate getting in trouble...." Josh gave Alex a gentle smile, finally looking up from the ground.

((I have this headcanon now that they're like James and Sirius around school XD)

David felt the train stop and grabbed his bag and said "Ara, Rainbow hair come on we stopped." He got up and turned to  Mia "sorry rainbow hair is a bad nickname but I'll think of a better one when we're in school." He then rushes out the door to the exit.

David felt the train stop and grabbed his bag and said "Ara, Rainbow hair come on we stopped." He got up and turned to  Mia "sorry rainbow hair is a bad nickname but I'll think of a better one when we're in school." He then rushes out the door to the exit.

"Sorry for jumping on you like that." Aralin said to Mia as she grabbed her suitcase and hitched her arm around Mia's "My name is Aralin, It's nice to meet you. You hair is super cool by the way." She more or less dragged Mia thru the other students following David closely. Upon stepping off the train she was greeted with an amazing view of a river and canoes lit with lanturns awaiting them. A large hairy man that Aralin had to crane her neck to see the face of stood at the door and directed the students to find a canoe. Aralin scurried off towards the boats with Mia in tow following David in the hopes of catching a boat with him.

Frowning deeply at the quick fire nickname she was given by David, Mia spaced out until she was quickly dragged out the train. Just about having enough time to grab her small and floral suitcase before it was left on the train. Stumped as the large man was before them Mia couldn't help but smile, that was until she reached the river. Pausing for a few moments the landscape seemed to engulf her, she felt so small but so at home. The complete beauty and grace of the land was what she had been waiting to see. With a place so large, she knew she'd be exploring parts of it. Perhaps not the forbidden forest that her father had told her so much about. After all, he'd told her the dangers of it. Certain things perked her curiosity however, thesterals mainly. The amazing creatures only certain people could see, she hoped she might be one of them.

Quickly snapped out of the trance he was in by the pulling of her arm by Aralin she hurried on over to canoes. "Slow down Aralin, we won't miss the canoes!" Mia kinda jolted out, Not wanting to miss them either but not wanting to trip over in-front of everyone at the same time. Her fingers began to twiddle again, she'd worry about what house she would be sorted in, her father was a slytherin and her mother a ravenclaw. Complete contrast but together for twenty-years, she wasn't scared what she ended up in, but more who she was going to be with.

As the train started to slow, Elliott's face gave a surprised expression to the people she was with, both due to the American's words, and the fact they must be at the school now; she quickly vacated with a quiet "see you soon", as she ran to gather her things. Outside the train, a booming, accented voice told first years to leave their things, and head to the lake. To the lake? Why were they heading to the lake? She stuffed all her items, including her mother's 'friendship' cookies, into her enchanted suitcase, and made sure it was locked tight. Jeremiah flit about on its closed lid as he watched his owner realise she was still wearing her muggle clothes. She squeaked, unlocking her suitcase again, and grabbed her robes out. She nipped into a deserted private carriage and drew the blind down, quickly changing into the robes she had bought.

Emerging once again, and fixing the way the wide brimmed, pointy hat sat on her head, she scurried to her suitcase and bundled her muggle clothes in. The owl tooted again. The girl hissed at him, something along the lines of "I know!", and she locked everything up again, before hurrying out of the train. The giant man at the end of the platform was waving all the first years towards himself. Jeremiah tucked himself into the hair at the nape of Elliott's neck, and the girl strode out as proudly as she was able, in her wizarding robes. She did not feel at ALL comfortable in a skirt, but she felt she should probably try out wearing it at least for the first evening, and go for her smart black trousers afterwards, when she was definitely a student!! At least she'd had the sense of mind to continue wearing her big, black, comfortable doc marten boots! They looked quite fetching with this get up! Very punk.

Hurrying into the fray of students headed towards the wooden canoes, she was apprehensive when she saw how few there were, and that they had no oars or any describable mode of power. It looked like it was two or three to a boat, and not knowing anyone other than the girl that seems to despise being bothered by Elliott, and the American boy she'd given some napkins to, Elliott wasn't sure whom was going to be joining her. Tentatively, she put out a foot, and stepped into one of the canoes and settled herself, wrapping herself tightly in her cloak against the chill breeze that blew over the calm waters. Wasn't it true there was some sort of kraken, or giant squid, in these waters? Surely it wasn't really safe to be being bussed across as night was falling? Elliott's inky blue eyes looked at the others whom seemed to have made friends already, and signed. How was she always so bad at this?

Joseph saw the way the girl sighed. "Hey its okay I have really met anyone either." Joseph said as he smiled. He stepped onto the boat, with his black leather boots with silver covering the toes. This could be easily classified as combat boots, but Joseph didn't care. He stepped onto the boat, and sat down. He gave a friendly smile to the girl, and patted the sea next to him. Though Joseph seemed clam, and cheerful, he was really scared, and nervous. Here he was a foreign wizard amongst all these powerful kids. Joseph didn't think he was all to powerful, but he made due. Joseph looked to the girls, and said, "I think I already said this, but I'm not sure. I'm Joseph Knight it's nice to meet you." Joseph said as he scooted over for the girls to sit. Joseph then subconsciously ran his hands through the murky water. Joseph huddled into his hoodie as a cold and crisp wind blew across the lake, but this did little to drown his excitement.

Andromeda Malfoy

Andromeda hadn't noticed the boys accent till she had time to soak everything in. Looking at the boy skeptically till her attention was turned to Elliot who, somehow, was not scared off by their recent conversation. Quickly her eyes went to the cookies, her mouth salivating although she kept that to herself. "I don't really have a sweet tooth." Which was not so much a lie. Growing up her mother was the baker of the family, although after her death any sweet she saw only brought back sour memories. Even if she attempted to eat it she wouldn't be able to swallow.

With the train pulling in Andromeda got up and followed the others out. She still had a question for the young American, making sure she had him in her sights as she followed the two onto the boat. She sat down across from the two, folding her hands in her lap as she watched the boy. "Careful. You don't know what's lurking in these waters." It was a joke although her tone suggested other wise. Sitting there for awhile she hadn't taken notice of the winds till the chill had finally gotten to her. Her brother had told her to bring a jacket but of course, she had been stubborn and hadn't listened. Though she brushed it aside as she finally asked the question that had been on the tip of her tongue since she met the boy. "So why aren't you going to Ilvermorny? I'm Andromeda by the way." Of course, her introduction was informal but she honestly could care less at this point.

Joseph saw Andromeda shiver. So he took off his jacket and handed it to her. "Well to answer your question, I find that Hogwarts has a better history, and more passion in what they teach. Plus both of my parents went to Hogwarts so I thought I would carry the tradition." Joseph said as he gave the girl a soft smile, and took his hand out of the water. He then noticed how the one girl was keeping awfully quiet. She hadn't really said much since they left the train. Joseph could only guess something happened between the two, and he didn't see it.

Elliott was shocked to see the American and Andromeda making their way to her boat. Her grin lit up her whole face, but she quickly steeled herself as the disapproving look on Andromeda's face made her duck her head down. Jeremiah wriggled against her neck, giving her comfort, and a soft toot came from behind her head. She smiled sheepishly at Andromeda, knowing the girl would know exactly what was behind her head.

"My name is Elliott!" The mohawked girl mentioned, after Andromeda introduced herself. She indicated the water, and her dark blue eyes, widening, looked at Joseph with concern. "Yes, you should be careful! It's said in some of the text books there is, like... a giant squid!" She seemed palpably excited at the idea of such a creature. She found it so much easier to speak of things she enjoyed; animals and beasts and creatures being her specialist subject. Other than Jeremiah, her home had been filled with unusual creatures.

Elliott listened with interest, as the boy spoke of coming to Hogwarts to carry on tradition. Elliott felt herself blushing. She had been told this was where she must go. Her father had been a Hogwarts student. Elliott still wasn't sure she was a witch. Her letter had come before any example of magical skill had shown itself. She wrapped her cloak around herself more. "I'm worried they'll turn me away, when that Sorting Hat gets put on my head..." Elliott mumbled, her hand, clutching at the front of her robes, feeling the wand that sat within the inside pocket.  Ollivander had been stunned by the reaction of all those wands given to her to try. It was only because she had said the wand had vibrated that Ollivander had believed her!

Andromeda Malfoy

Andromeda nodded as she listened to Joseph her attention turning towards Elliot as she sighed. "If you were given a letter then you belong at Hogwarts no matter what anyone says. It's very rare for someone accepted into Hogwarts to be turned away. Although if you are don't worry, they'll make sure you won't remember a thing." Although her words were meant to be comforting she realized how the could have sounded otherwise, sighing as she shook the thought out of her head. Her whole body stiffened as she felt the warmth of a coat placed around her. "Ah...Thank you but now you are cold." Pursing her lips as she watched him, she wasn't sure whether or not to trust this boy, never being able to trust someone who was so giving.

Nice to meet you Elliot." Joseph said as he laughed a little. "Just take the coat I'll be fine." Joseph let out a genuine laugh, and pulled his sleeves down. "Don't worry Elliot I'm sure you will do great here. I hope we all do. If anything I will probably be the weakest wizard here." Joseph said as his accent could be heard clearly. "I just hope I get Slytherin. My mom and dad got Gryffindor, but I think they are to rash for me. I relate more to the characteristics of Slytherin." Joseph said with a small smile, and looked at his new friends. "I hope I might be in the same house as one of you two." Joseph said. He leaned back in the boat, and looked at the stars now coming to the night sky.

Elliott felt a little better, and was starting to realise that Andromeda didn't seem to necessarily intend her words as they sounded. She watched the girl a moment, and watched her internal struggle with sounding so passively aggressive. Elliott readjusted her hat, and allowed herself to relax a little around these two. It was very obvious where the Malfoy was going to be sorted, but Elliott wondered about herself.

"My father never told me much of the Hogwarts houses. I guess I'll be happy if I get sorted!" Elliott pursed her lips, and contemplated the four houses she'd read about. The only thing she knew she was good at was being around animals. There was nothing in the houses that explained that!! "I guess I'll just have to wait and see..." She loosened her grip a little on her cloak and robes, and her booted toes tapped restlessly on the bottom of the boat.

"When will we be leaving, do you think? That castle doesn't look that inviting from here..."
