Fracturer of Fairytales
Professor Holly Livingtree
FACE CREDIT: Emilia Clarke
WRITTEN DESCRIPTION: Holly is a beautiful young woman, with rich brown hair, falling to her mid-back and thick, dark brows arched above sleepy grey eyes. Her features are comprised of a thin nose, full lips and a strong, nearly masculine jaw. She is thin, and slight, but manages to hold herself just fine in spite of her size.
Well put together, she typically dresses in either bright colors, or black, but detests the color green, as it serves as a reminder of her years at St. Mungo's. She is rarely seen without some fashion of jewelry, never without her face made up and her nails polished and trimmed.

PRE-BIRTH
UNCONDITIONALLY UNWANTED
Holly's mother Imogene was as rebellious as teenage girls got. After flunking out of high school, in only her second year, Imogene opted for a life on the street. It was there that she developed a relationship with a man named Frank Wrightly, a man who was, in fact, quite wrong. Frank was older than Imogene by quite a few years and treated her poorly, but Imogene, desperate and alone opted to stay with him. Two years into their relationship, Imogene discovered she was pregnant. Initially supportive, Frank offered to take care of Imogene and her baby, but within months, he became dismissive and distant, leaving for many days without word. Finally, Imogene confronted Frank and he admitted that he had found someone else. When Imogene became defensive and angry, Frank exploded in a violent rage, throwing the woman now six months along out into the street.
Left with no other options, Imogene checked herself into a shelter and three months later, gave birth, naming her child Holly, after her grandmother, before giving her up for adoption.
THE EARLY YEARS
AN ORPHAN'S LOT
Holly grew up in an orphan in one of the seedier districts of London, learning at a very young age that she would either need to adjust and learn to take care of herself, or get severely left behind. Tough to the teeth, Holly made few friends, and none whom she could trust, but she kept her neck above water and managed to survive.
But surviving wasn't living, and by ten, Holly was sincerely jaded and scarred by the cruelty of her reality. Vastly unaware of how quickly everything was about to change.
ACCEPTANCE INTO HOGWARTS
A MOST COMPASSIONATE MAN
His name was Albus, and he was the strangest looking man Holly Livingtree had ever seen. Tall, and skinny as a wire, with a face and head covered in thin, greying stands of hair and the most amazing blue eyes, hidden behind a pair of half-moon spectacles, which he pushed up over his slightly too large nose.
Initially, she'd thought he might be homeless, from the look of his tattered brown suit and mismatched shoes, but when he spoke it was with a quiet authority, that told Holly he was certainly too important to live on the streets.
He explained to her that he was the Headmaster at a special school, which she had been selected to attend. Holly, indelicately as possible, told the man, whom she was now convinced was a lunatic, to get lost, punctuating the unpleasant suggestion with a kick to the impossibly twig-like shins. But the man, his eyes watering, only laughed... a hearty, full chuckle and handed Holly a letter, asking her to read it before making her decision.
HOGWARTS SCHOOL of WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY
Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore (Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf. Warlock,
Supreme Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards)
Dear Ms. Livingtree,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.
Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.
Yours sincerely,
Minerva McGonagall
Deputy Headmistress
Upon reading the letter, Holly wasn't entirely unconvinced of the man's sanity, but at the same time began questioning her own. It wasn't until the supposed Headmaster produced a long, slender wand from within the folds of his suit coat and transformed Holly's discarded slipper into a small, immobile mouse that he fully grabbed her attention...
Their conversation ran long, after that, and by the time Albus Dumbledore took his leave, Holly Livingtree had accepted, without a doubt, that she belonged at Hogwarts.
Finally accepted, somewhere, Holly made Hogwarts her home with unmitigated fervency. In her first year, alone, she excelled in the vast majority of her classes and every extra curricular activity she could nose her way into. Studying consumed her and she became something on an unapologetic teacher's pet. By the end of her first year, Holly was transformed.
It was during her fifth year, however, that her transformation truly became complete, when Holly accepted a position as Prefect for the Gryffindor House. Beyond honored, truly grateful, Holly took to the role without a scrap of hesitancy, unreservedly honest, just and responsible.
Hogwarts had become her home, but the orphanage which she was required to return to each summer became a cage. It was during her sixth year that Holly sought information from the Headmaster on how to emancipate herself and that summer, with the money she had saved up over many years of summer jobs, Holly purchased her emancipation... her freedom, and moved into an apartment not far from the orphanage she had grown up in.
SEVENTH YEAR
OPEN DOORS
Finally free from the weight of the lot her mother had laid upon her, Holly went into her seventh year with an entirely new outlook on life. Through her determination and through the support of her teachers, with whom Holly had grown as close as she dared, she sailed through her final years at Hogwarts on the wings of success.
At the end of the year, her N.E.W.T. exam scores proved unabashedly excellent and Holly moved out into the wide wizarding world, eager to begin the newest chapter of her life.

POST-HOGWARTS
ANOTHER SUITCASE IN THE HALL
Despite her exemplary performance in school and her outstanding exam results, Holly found it difficult, striking out on her own. Upon the recommendation of Minerva McGonagall, she sought employment in the Ministry of Magic, but found very little enjoyment in her menial desk job.
Uncertain of how to pursue bigger and better things, afraid of losing her sense of self, Holly quit her position after onto two years and decided instead to travel abroad, spending another two years visiting exotic locations, perfecting her knowledge of potions and cures.
Upon returning to London, Holly took a position in St. Mungo's as a healer. Here, she rediscovered a sense of confidence and worth, unmatched in her former endeavors.
THE SECOND WIZARD WAR
DESPERATE TIMES, DESPERATE MEASURES
At the start of the Second War, Holly had risen in rank to the fourth floor at St. Mungo's. Throughout the war, she and the other Healers saw more than their share of victims, but Holly remained strong and determined. Through the horror of that year, however, her courage dwindled, as well as her passion. Pain and turmoil became a regular part of each day and the darker things became in the Wizarding world, the worse things got in the hospital.
Watching with bated breath for the end... for any signs of an end, good or bad. When at last the news came that Voldemort had been vanquished, Holly celebrated by quitting her job... trading in her green robes in the hopes of picking up a black pair...
BECOMING A PROFESSOR
THE OBVIOUS DECISION
She had made the decision during her struggles at St. Mungo's but it had become clearest only at the crux of the final battle, when she and her comrades at the hospital were called in to treat the injured who had survived at Hogwarts.
Seeing the school again for the first time in so many years, seeing the destruction caused, the pain and devastation, Holly could think of nothing she wanted more than to be a part of rebuilding what had been her dearest home.
Resigning from her position as a Healer, Holly immediately applied for the position of Potion's master... ascertaining that she could be of no better use anywhere else in world.
