Sable woke up to her mother shaking her violently. When she opened her eyes she saw her mother holding a silver camera, and she was smiling brightly. Sable groaned and leaned forward to cover the lense. "It's your first day of highschool! Please let me film this one!" her mom said irritably. "I'll let you film me when i go off to college MAYBE." Sable said as she pushed her mom out the door. She hated that her mother made such a big deal of things. Sable pulled on a blue v-neck, jeans and her black converse. She looked in the mirror, she saw her hair and pulled a brush through it in a attempt to tame it, but not much luck. She grabbed her heavy, cheap backpack as she opened her bedroom door. "At least let me give you a ride." her mom said pulling her own hair in a ponytail. Sable agreed as she walked into the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water.
Ryan woke up early, somewhat excited for the first day of highschool. Hopefully they would have advanced laptops or programs he thought. He quickly put on a pair of blue jeans, a plaid shirt with a collar and a worn out leather jacket on top. Before leaving, he grabbed a slice of bread and put his laptop in his bag. His father was running late anyway so he decided to give him a ride. Once Ryan got in the car, his dad pulled out a grin. "What is it?" Ryan asked confused. "It's my big man's first day. You must be excited huh? About the computers and girls-" Ryan frowned. "Just drive me to school like a normal dad please." The engine started up and the car was making its way onto the road.
After the terribly long car ride to the school, finally Sable was there, standing before Rose Hill High. "Have fun!" her mother screamed as she drove away. Sable frowned as she looked around at all the other kids laughing. She rolled her eyes and started walking torwards the double doors that would let her into the highschool. She was just about to enter when she heard her name being frantically called , she spun on her heel to see her bestfriend, Alyssa. Alyssa grabbed Sable's wrist and dragged her away from the doors "Aren't you scared? I've never been inside before." Alyssa said with wide eyes. "Just come on." Sable said as she walked in. Everyone seemed to be making a huge deal about today except her.
As soon as she walked in, she wanted to turn back around.
Underneath the huge welcome banner was a whole bunch of kids filling the hall.
For the life of her, Sable could not hear herself think over the noise the other kids were making. She turned to look at Alyssa, who seemed in total awe of all the students also. "Come on!" Sable screamed over the noise as she made herself through the crowd. "I can't! My homeroom is Mr.Antwine! His class is this way!" Alyssa said motioning to a hall to her left. Crap. Sable had Ms.Walls. She waved at her friend as she made her way through all the other students. Finally, she reached her homeroom, she stepped in to see a stern looking younger lady. "Sit anywhere." she said quietly as she continued writing something on her desk.
Ryan leaped out of the car, worried about being late. Without saying any goodbye to his dad, he rushed inside of the school and took a look around. Highschool was a lot different than he did said it would be. Everyone was chatting or pushing each other into a locker. He blinked, and made his way to Ms. Walls classroom. After a couple of minutes, he easily found his way and stopped at the doorway. There was only one seat left, beside a blonde which he thought looked pretty. He was about to introduce himself to the teacher, but she pushed him forward, making him drop his stuff. After getting a few laughs, he quickly assembled his things and sat beside the girl.
Sable smiled as she looked around at the people she would share homeroom with, she knew some of them from middle school.
The noise in the hall way was just beginning to die down when Ms.Hall began introducing herself. She passed out schedules as she went over her expectations. Sable looked over at the guy beside her to see they had most of the same classes. "Hey, can i see your schedule?" she asked smiling at the boy.
Ryan's eyebrows perked up and he nodded. "S-Sure." He stroked his hair back before digging into his satchel to look for his schedule. He was able to find it under seconds and he handed it over to the blonde girl. When he handed it to her, he took a quick glance at her face.
Sable couldn't help but smile at the guys hesitation. She checked his schedule and her own to see they had 5 out of 8 classes together. "5 classes together." she whispered as she passed his schedule back. She turned her attention back to Ms.Bell who was going over the class attendance now. "Here" she said when her name was called and she looked around the room once more, this time putting names to the faces of the people she did not know.
Ryan nodded and took back his schedule. He wouldn't really mind being in the same class as her; she seemed nice enough and she was pretty. He fixed himself back on his seat and was finally calmed down after the busy morning he had. When the teacher called his name for attendance he replied with a stern "I'm here" and a little hand up. He never really liked the attendance anyways, it would get harder to ditch school if you were having a rough day- it's like they are watching you by the hour. He continued to ponder deep into his thoughts as Ms. Bell continued talking.
