Realistic or Modern High Tides & Good Vibes

Kenzie was walking around the beach house getting everything set up, she had arrived on the island a few days ago. Her parents knew that the house needed a few repairs so they asked her to go down their early so the repairs could be done before her friends were to get there. Her mother grew up in Oahu, and she knew a lot of people, and those people were the ones who were gracious enough to give all of the teens a summer job.

She was a touch bit nervous to see how this trip was going to go, in all reality some of the people that were coming weren't her best friends, she had been close to all of them at one point but she wanted to get back to that place if it was possible. The house was actually quite large, with 5 bedrooms and 3 and a half baths, so obviously people would have to share rooms, she figured everyone would just pick a room to stay in it really made no sense for her to assign rooms.

She continued to clean up the house, she knew that their flights would be arriving around the same time, so she would just take the van and pick everyone up at once instead of making them take a taxi. They were scheduled to start work tomorrow, most of them had signed up to be lifeguards, one or two applied for retail and bartending. She couldn't wait, once she was finished cleaning she grabbed the van keys and headed over to the store quickly to grab a few more groceries then to the airport.

Eli had to sign as he sat on one of the airport chair, as he waited for Kenzie to come pick him up. It has been such a long time since he last saw her, that he wondered how Kenzie was doing. Sure he had talked to her through social media but he rather prefer talking with her face to face. He could had gone to some type of summer school to take some extra classes but he would rather work than spend his days all summer on school and away from those few that he could call friends.

Eli had to sigh as he looked at the ceiling of the airport, honestly having nothing to do after such a long trip. It had been bothersome trying to talk to his parents to let him come here, I mean sure he was 21 years old, but he lived under their roof, mostly because he hadn't had time to find his own apartment. "I wonder how has it been since I last saw Mac?" He questioned himself. It was a lucky opportunity he had been giving two months of vacation from work and College, He had gotten both a job and a chance to talk to her face to face just like those time when he had been friends with her.

Kenzie sat in the parking lot of the grocery store, she really wasn't sure if she should just go back to the house and wait for everyone to get to the airport or just head over now, she really didn't even know if any of them were there, she figured at least one of them would have been there by now.

She decided to head over, thankfully the airport wasn't too busy so they wouldn't yell at her for parking the van there to wait for everyone. She pulled behind one of the taxi's, she got out of the van and opened the back doors so they could put their bags there, she realized how little space there would be for all of their things, so she figured she was going to have to take a couple trips.

She glanced in the window and could see Eli, she grabbed her phone and sent him a text letting him know that she was there, and she stood on the sidewalk for him to walk out, but kept looking around for the others if they were there.

Eli had been looking at the ceiling the whole he was sitting and even some of the people around him questioned what he was doing. He was currently bore and he really didn't have anything to do besides just looking at the ceiling, sure that could actually make him a boring person but he had to wait for Mac to send him a text once he got here. He wasn't sure how many others were coming and right now he just felt like getting on a bed and release the stress that was caused when he was on an airplane for the second time. Just as he was about to drift off to sleep, he felt his phone ring, playing one of his favorite song called "Left behind by Kenneth Nixon", a song he had been using as ring tone for a while.

"Helo, this is Eli speaking." He already knew who was speaking but he had been taught to always say that when answering his phone. He had to look outside before he finally saw Mac. "I'll be there in a bit." He stood up, picking up his duffle bag along the way. While it was true he could had brought some other type of luggage, he decides to stick with the usual, a duffle bag. Once he made it outside, he walked toward Mac with a smile. "Helo Mac." He greeted her.

~ REGINALD "REGGIE" ELWES ~

It had been ten hours since the plane had taken off and still they had another half hour to go. The soft hum of people had begun to rise again after having settled for some time while everyone slept and absorbed themselves in the various movies that were offered by the airline. It had been a rather calm flight, which was unusual given their destination. Reggie had expected a more rambunctious journey given that probably 95% of the people on the plane were responsibility free for however long they'd be there. Oahu was a vacation spot, after all. Things did get rather more excited as the time drew closer to their landing. When the pilot announced that they would be landing the whole place errupted in loud cheers. People were ready to start drinking and relaxing. Reggie wanted badly to join them, but knew he wasn't here for just a good time. He was here to work.

Actually, the reason for his being there was a rather random occurrence. Usually he wouldn't buy himself a ticket to such a high price place like Oahu, Hawaii. It was better he save the money, put it toward bills or for a rainy day. It had been a phone call from an old friend that drew him here. She had offered a free place to stay and a good paying job with tips. How could he turn down something like that? Well, I guess him stepping off the plane with the other vacationers was answer enough. He couldn't.

He hadn't really spoken to Makenzie Thompson in a few years. They had been friends for a long time but when college life got hard Reggie had pushed aside a lot of his old relationships. Of course, he knew if he explained things to them they would understand but Reggie couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt. His freshman year had been rough and his sophomore year had been spent picking up the pieces. Now here he was, heading into his third year of college, almost twenty-one, and he was facing one of the people he had pushed so thoughtlessly aside.

Reggie wondered how Kenzie had been the last couple years as he collected his luggage and headed out toward the pick up area. The airport looked slow today, which was a blessing. It meant he wouldn't have to wait to long to get a taxi. Suitecase in one hand and his carry on in the other, Reggie stepped out into the warm Oahu air. The heat washed over him like a thick blanket. He grumbled in complain as he set his thing down and put on his sunglasses to get a better look at where things were.

Kenzie turned and watched as Eli walked towards her, it had felt like forever since she had seen him, they talked occasionally but really nothing like before. She smiled at him as he got to the van "Hey Eli" she said giving him a quick hug, "Just put your bag back here" she said opening up the door "How have ya been" she said with a smile, he didn't seem too different, same long messy hair as she remembered.

She continually glanced over towards the large doors to see which of her friends would be walking out next, she had a feeling the guys would get there before the girls. She suddenly noticed Reggie walk out and put his sunglasses on, she walked towards the middle of the side walk where he could see her
"REGGIE" she yelled and waved her hand to get his attention.

Reggie's eyes wandered the scene touching on the line of cars that waited patiently. Most of them were taxis. The rest consisted of a collection of slick black private cars with stern looking drivers and the smaller group of personal vehicles with their fawning passengers greeting each other after a long time apart. It wasn't loud, but he thought maybe he was hearing wrong when his name was called about the chaos. His eyebrows twitched upward as he looked around until his gaze landed on the thin silhouette waving her hands above her head like a madman. A smile shot across Reggie's face as he looked over Makenzie.

He collected his things and quickly made his way toward her. She looked different, a lot older. This was expected though, since it had been nearly two years since he had actually seen her last. Sure, Facebook and Instagram were both a thing but Reggie had never been one for social media. Instead he was faced with being stunned whenever he saw people after a long amount of time. Today was no different as he dropped his stuff in front of Kenzie and scooped her up into a hug. Then, after a second, he released her.

"Geez, what happened to the scrawny kid I knew?" He grumbled taking a step back. Kenzie had never actually been scrawny, but they had been really close at one point. Teasing her was just a part of a habit from back in those days. "How have things been?"

His gaze moved sidelong after she spoke, catching hold of shaggy blonde hair with a wave of surprise. It had been a long time since he had talked to Elias, probably since the summer after they had graduated. The guy looked the same. Though his hair was probably longer and scruffier then it had been in High School.

"Whoa, no way." Reggie let out a laugh. "Eli! Man, it's been a really long time."

Elias had put his bag in the back of the van before getting in a sitting down. He was tire and he actually felt like he could fall asleep while waiting for whoever Kenzie was waiting for. Eventually he started looking through his phone, while trying to see what Oahu could bring while he wasn't working. He was so into looking his phone that he didn't see someone else come and greet Kenzie. It wasn't until his name got called, that he saw who it was.

"Weirdo." Eli said as he said that it was Reginald aka Reggie aka Weirdo who had called his name. He was actually surprised that the guy was here, after all the last time they saw each other was before he had decided to head to another college far away from where he used to live. "D
im amser hir yn gweld." He said when he got off the van in order to greet him. "Ahhh, I mean long time no see." So he had random moments he spoke his parents native language, heck even his accent was visible mostly because he always spoke Welsh while at home, French at school and English when he came to New York to go to one of their culinary college.

If Rosemary had one big fear, it would be airplanes. The turbulence when the air pressure changes, and constant hum of the engine that kept her on edge all throughout the flight. She was stuck in the middle of two guys, who were constantly attempting to talk to her, even though she had her headphones in mos too the flight. Anyways, she was more interested in the girl across the isle.

When the flight attendant arrived, asking her which beverage and snack she would like, she chose tomato juice and biscoff cookies. A weird combo, you might say, but it was the only think Rosemary would eat in the plane.

The plane ride seemed to drone on, and the seconds seemed like minutes. And the minutes seemed like hours. Finally, they landed. Luckily, Rosemary was seated in the front so she got out of the plane quickly.

She basically ran through the airport, but had to stop and catch her breath occasionally. Damn, Hawaii was hot. Finally, she made it outside to the car pickup line. She scanned the line of cars, before her eyes settling on the one car she new all to well. She but her lip and began to wave.

"I grew up" she said with a chuckle at Reggie's remark, she really didn't grow much height wise, she was pretty short, but she had been focused on working out so she did get more muscle. She looked over as Eli had gotten into the van and seemed to be getting comfortable. She figured that depending on how long the other may take to get there she might just drop the ones that had shown up so far at the house then come back for the others or just let them now to get a taxi over.

She started to fix the bags the two guys had thrown in the back, just to make room for the others, she glanced over her shoulder and there was Rosemary. Kenzie was actually quite surprised that she showed up, the two of them were never the closest of friends really, she knew that Rosemary didn't like her too much. But she need another person for the jobs so she figured she would ask her, hopefully nothing bad would happen between them. She smiled at her and offered to help her with her bags "Now we just gotta wait for the other 5 then we can head over to the house" she said to everyone.

Stacy finally arrived in the American airport, having gone back to China to see family, Taiwan to see friends, and lived in Japan with her grandmother and study in a prestigious Japanese Academy. Looking around the airport terminal, Stacy had to get her self-used to the sights and sounds so different from Asia. Reading the map, Stacy began to head toward where Kenzie said she would meet her. On her way to the other side of the Terminal, as the international depot was so long, she decided to call her mother to bring her car to Kenzie's. Stacy's mothers, who had adopted and raised her in the states were glad to finally have a chance to see their precious daughter after Stacy had gone to Asia to meet her real family and study abroad. Stacy, although glad to reunite with her parents, also just wanted her car. Japan had street races sure, but she missed the rough roads of America.

Finally, having made her way to the main terminal and then the loading area, Stacy spotted Kenzie and some of her friends. "KZ!" She yelled from the door as if she were about to run over in slow motion, but instead walked to her friend in long confident strides. "It's been a while." She said, getting uncomfortably close to Kenzie before backing off and putting her small suitcase down.

Alex carefully flexed in the bathroom mirror. Curling his biceps and buffing out his chest, "Damn do I look good," he grinned showing off his pearly whites. Alex wasn't normally so vain but a summer in Hawaii surrounded by hot Hawaiian babes was enough to send Alex into an airport bathroom to show off his body to.... well himself. Turning around he pulled of his tank top and flexed his back muscles in the mirror.

Finally he pushed a hand through his dark hair and gave the mirror one more smile before putting on his top, grabbing his bags and heading out. Alex slowly walked out of the bathroom door, his face staring down at the blank phone that reflected his appearance back at him. He continued walking only looking up when a girl walked past not noticing he had just walked past the group he'd be spending his summer with and walking straight into a wall.

~ REGINALD "REGGIE" ELWES ~

Just the same as always, this guy. Reggie thought to himself bemusedly when Elias blurted out 'weirdo'. He even let out a small laugh, unable to help himself. He was the same blunt guy that Reggie had known in high school. Which both warmed his heart and sent another pang of guilt through his body. He felt bad, he probably had a rough time making friends. After all, he hadn't been the most social adept two years ago either. He wondered if he had at least progressed a little. His eyes wandered from Elias to Kenzie and back again. There had to of been some progress if he was here.

"I'm surprised to see you here." He stated. "Though I'm glad you are, it's been too long."

He held out his hand for Elias to shake as another person joined their small gathering. This was a face he didn't know, a young woman with waves of brown curls and a pretty face. Reggie gave her a smile but wasn't sure whether she noticed due to her being absorbed in her talk with Kenzie. He gave the girl a once over before attempting to turn back to Elias. However, as he did, a tall male sauntered past and successfully ran himself into the wall right beside where Reggie stood.

"Whoa," Reggie held back laughter. "That was certainly an impressive entrance. You good, man?"
