Hidden stuff?

Cold Ramen Noodles

I was making a thread in the looking for partners (the 1X1 one) and hid it because I messed something up and wanted time to change it later. Where did it go? I would like to work on changing it.

Hiding things is basically the same function as deleting them, so once it's hidden my understanding is it's basically just deleted.

Thank you for the answer. :) I feel like it should say delete, or something different. I've never used the function before and so I thought it would just be hidden but I could work on it.

I believe it's called that because nothing is ever actually deleted on the site due to some behind the scenes reason with site mechanics.

So before when we were deleting stuff it was just hiding it from the site users not fully removing the content from the site.

From a Staff perspective: we have the ability to both Hide and Delete, which are called separate things because Delete is permanent and Hide just makes it invisible to all but Staff.  (Except in the Hosted Projects, where I believe the GMs can see it also.)  We don't like to Delete because it messes with the database and such.  Hide was called Delete on the old site, but it worked basically the same - staff could still see it, etc.  We can recover Hidden things, but not Deleted ones.  If you want to work on something without making it visible, may I suggest the Private Workshop area?  Threads you make there are only visible to you and to Staff, and we don't snoop.  Then, once it's done, you can just copy/paste into a new thread outside the workshop.

I understand. It's just that I didn't realize that hide meant I couldn't get it back because I didn't see it written anywhere. And apparently I wasn't the only one who thought that was the case. It's not a big deal at all. :) I just rewrote what I had hidden. It's just that hide to me sounded like some new feature where I could find my hidden content somewhere.

Yes. This is correct.

... just thought I'd clear up that confusion with certainty.

Thanks :)   I came into this update as an admin, so I'm not always sure what users can see as compared to what I can see.
